| 1 | Potassium 2-(l-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate attenuates neuroinflammatory responses and upregulates heme oxygenase-1 in systemic lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in mice显示文摘A neuroinflammatory response is commonly involved in the progression of many neurodegenerative diseases. Potassium 2-(1-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate(PHPB), a novel neuroprotective compound, has shown promising effects in the treatment of ischemic stroke and Alzheimer's disease(AD). In the present study, the anti-inflammatory effects of PHPB were investigated in the plasma and brain of C57BL/6 mice administered a single intraperitoneal(i.p.) injection of lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Levels of i NOS and the cytokines TNFα, IL-1β and IL-10 were elevated in plasma, cerebral cortex and hippocampus after LPS injection and the number of microglia and astrocytes in cortex and hippocampus were increased. LPS also upregulated the expression of heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) in the cortex and hippocampus. PHPB reduced the levels of i NOS and cytokines in the plasma and brain, decreased the number of microglia and astrocytes and further enhanced the upregulation of HO-1. In addition, PHPB inhibited the LPS-induced phosphorylation of ERK, P38 and JNK. | 3 | 3D-printable supramolecular hydrogels with shear-thinning property: fabricating strength tunable bioink via dual crosslinking显示文摘3-dimensional(3D)bioprinting technology provides promising strategy in the fabrication of artificial tissues and organs.As the fundamental element in bioprinting process,preparation of bioink with ideal mechanical properties without sacrifice of biocompatibility is a great challenge.In this study,a supramolecular hydrogel-based bioink is prepared by polyethylene glycol(PEG)grafted chitosan,α-cyclodextrin(α-CD)and gelatin.It has a primary crosslinking structure through the aggregation of the pseudo-polyrotaxane-like side chains,which are formed from the host-guest interactions betweenα-CD and PEG side chain.Apparent viscosity measurement shows the shear-shinning property of this bioink,which might be due to the reversibility of the physical crosslinking.Moreover,withβ-glycerophosphate at different concentrations as the secondary crosslinking agent,the printed constructs demonstrate different Young's modulus(p<0.001).They could also maintain the Young's modulus in cell culture condition for at least 21 days(p<0.05).By co-culturing each component with fibroblasts,CCK-8 assay demonstrate cellular viability is higher than 80%.After bioprinting and culturing,immunofluorescence staining with quantification indicate the expression of Ki-67,Paxillin,and N-cadherin is higher in day 14 than those in day 3(p<0.05).Oil red O and Nissl body specific staining reflect strength tunable bioink may have impact on the cell fate of mesenchymal stem cells(p<0.05).This work might provide new idea for advanced bioink in the application of re-establishing complicated tissues and organs. | Tian Hu Xiaoliang Cui Meng Zhu Man Wu Ye Tian Bin Yao Wei Song Zhongwei Niu Sha Huang Xiaobing Fu | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 3 |
| 4 | Characteristics of Recent Horizontal Crustal Movement and Tectonic Deformation in the Northwest China Region显示文摘Making use of observation data of GPS in the Northwest China region and infrared distance-measurements crossing the Qilian-Longshoushan fault zone up to 2004, aided by the least square collocation and inversion of negative dislocation model for the boundaries of elastic blocks and the singular force-source, the dynamic evolution features of deformation and strain fields before and after the M_S=8.1 earthquake on the west of Kunlun Mountains Pass, especially the recent tectonic deformation and stress field status three years after this earthquake are studied. The possible regions or segments of active blocks and their boundaries reflecting accumulation background of high strain energy of producing earthquakes over middle magnitude, are obtained, as well as the potential epicenter. The results show that after short-term relaxation and adjustment in the northern margin of Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) block after the M_S=8.1 earthquake, the main control action of background field of northeastward pushing of Indian plate is now recovering. Moreover, the following regions are found to have the background of high strain energy accumulation. | 8 | Water-soluble boron carbon oxynitride dots with excellent solid-state fluorescence and ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence显示文摘Developing metal-free and long lifetime room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)materials has received tremendous interest due to their numerous potential applications,of which stable triplet-excited state is the core challenge.Here,boron carbon oxynitride(BCNO)dots,emitting stable blue fluorescence and green RTP,are reported for the first time.The obtained BCNO dots exhibit an unexpected ultralong RTP lifetime of 1.57 s,lasting over 8 s to naked eyes.The effective doping of carbon and oxygen elements in boron nitride(BN)actually provides a small energy gap between singlet and triplet states,facilitating the intersystem crossing(ISC)and populating of triplet excitons.The formation of compact cores via crystallization and effective inter-/intra-dot hydrogen bonds further stabilizes the excited triplet states and reduces quenching of RTP by oxygen at room temperature.Based on the water-soluble feature of BCNO dots,a novel advanced security ink is developed toward anti-counterfeiting tag and confidential information encryption.This study extends BCNO dots to rarely exploited phosphorescence fields and also provides a facile strategy to prepare ultralong lifetime metal-free RTP materials. | Shenghui Han Gang Lian Xiaoliang Zeng Zhaozhen Cao Qilong Wang Deliang Cui Ching-Ping Wong | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,12: | 0 |
| 9 | Regulating the Deposition of Insoluble Sulfur Species for Room Temperature Sodium-Sulfur Batteries显示文摘Room temperature sodium-sulfur(RT-Na-S) batteries are regarded as promising candidates for next-generation high-energy-density batteries. However, in addition to the severe shuttle effect, the inhomogeneous deposition of the insoluble sulfur species generated during the discharge/charge processes also contributes to the rapid capacity fade of RT-Na-S batteries. In this work, the deposition behavior of the insoluble sulfur species in the traditional slurry-coated sulfur cathodes is investigated using microporous carbon spheres as model sulfur host materials. To achieve uniform deposition of insoluble sulfur species, a self-supporting sulfur cathode fabricated by assembling microporous carbon spheres is designed.
