1Carbon storage in evergreen broad-leaf forests in mid-subtropical region of China at four succession stages显示文摘To better understand the effect of forest succession on carbon sequestration, we investigated carbon stock and allocation of evergreen broadleaf forest, a major zonal forest in subtropical China.We sought to quantify the carbon sequestration potential.We sampled four forest types,shrub(SR), pine(Pinus massoniana) forest(PF), pine and broadleaf mixed forest(MF) and evergreen broadleaf forest(BF).A regression equation was constructed using tree height and diameter at breast height(DBH) and elements of total tree biomass.The equation was subsequently utilized to estimate tree carbon storage.The carbon storage of understory, litter, and soil was also estimated.Carbon storage in biomass increased significantly from the early succession stage SR(6.21 t ha-1) to the late stage BF(134.87 t ha-1).The biomass carbon stock of forest layers generally increased with succession except for the understory.The soil organic carbon storage for the total profile increased with forest succession, from 51.16 to 90.49 t ha-1, but the contribution of SOC to the carbon stock of the forest ecosystem declined from 89.18% to 40.15%.The carbon stock at ecosystem scale increased significantly with succession from SR(57.37 t ha-1), to PF(154.20 t ha-1), to MF(170.96 t ha-1)and to BF(225.36 t ha-1), with carbon stock of BF3.93 times that of SR.The forests in our study have great potential for increasing carbon sequestration, and large areas of secondary or degraded evergreen broadleaf forests in the subtropical zone of China could be a great carbon sink in future.ZENG Zhangquan WANG Silong ZHANG Canming GONG Chao HU Qing 2013Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,4:17
2Effect of Direct Quenching on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Wear-resistant Steel显示文摘A wear-resistant steel was hot rolled at the same finish temperature,and subsequently treated with conventional reheat quenching and tempering process(RQ&T) and direct quenching and tempering process(DQ&T),respectively.The effect of direct quenching on the microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated in detail by using optical microscope,transmission electron microscope and scanning electron microscope equipped with electron backscattered diffraction.The results showed that the microstructures of both the RQ and DQ specimens were complex constituents of lath martensite and lower bainite.Compared with the RQ specimen,the lower bainite content in DQ specimen was much higher.Furthermore,the bainite in the DQ specimen extended into and segmented the prior austenite grains,which can decrease martensite packet size.The proportion of high-angle boundary in the DQ specimen was higher than that in the RQ specimen,which may improve the impact toughness.The carbides in DQ&T specimen were much finer and distributed even dispersively because direct quenching can retain substantive defects which may provide more nucleation sites for carbide precipitation in the tempering process.Besides,the mechanical properties of DQ and DQ&T specimens were superior than those subjected to RQ and RQ&T processes,respectively.Hongyu SONG Shunhu ZHANG Liangyun LAN Canming LI Haitao LIU Dewen ZHAO Guodong WANG 2013Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2013,26,4:7
3Soil microbial activity and nutrients of evergreen broad-leaf forests in mid-subtropical region of China显示文摘To better understand the effects of forest succession on soil microbial activity, a comparison of soil microbial properties and nutrients was conducted between three forest types representing a natural forest succession chronosequence. The study compared a pine(Pinus massoniana) forest(P_F), a pine and broadleaf mixed forest(M_F) and an evergreen broadleaf forest(B_F), in the Yingzuijie Biosphere Reserve, Hunan Province, China.Results showed that soil nutrients in the M_Fand BFplots were higher than in the P_Fplots. The range in microbial biomass carbon followed a similar pattern with B_Fhaving the greatest values, 522–1022 mg kg^-1, followed by M_F368–569 mg kg^-1, and finally, P_F193–449 mg kg^-1. Soil nutrients were more strongly correlated with microbial biomass carbon than basal respiration or metabolic quotient. 4Addition Al and/or Ti Induced Modifi cations of Microstructures, Mechanical Properties, and Corrosion Properties in CoCrFeNi High-Entropy Alloy Coatings显示文摘The purpose of this work is to study the influences of Al and/or Ti addition on the microstructures, mechanical properties and corrosion properties of CoCrFeNi-(Al, Ti) high entropy alloy(HEA) coatings. Three coatings, AlCoCrFeNi(Ⅰ), CoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅱ) and AlCoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅲ), were fabricated by laser cladding successfully. The AlCoCrFeNi(Ⅰ) coating exhibited a simple body-centered cubic(BCC) solid-solution structure, whereas the CoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅱ) alloy exhibited a face-centered cubic(FCC) solid-solution and a small amount of Laves phase. The BCC phases in AlCoCrFeNiTi _(0.5)(Ⅲ) coating were characterized as Fe–Cr rich disordered BCC phases(A2) and Al-Ni–Ti-rich ordered BCC phases(L2_1) separately. The AlCoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅲ) coating with dual-phase BCC structure showed the optimal performance of both mechanical and corrosion properties, which was superior to BCC-based AlCoCrFeNi(Ⅰ) and FCC-based CoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅱ) coatings. Nanoindentation tests and quantitative investigations on the strengthening mechanisms of AlCoCrFeNiTi_(0.5)(Ⅲ) coating were conducted, suggesting that the precipitation strengthening is the dominant strengthening mechanism. 7Inheritance of resistance to Helicoverpa armigera of 3 kinds of transgenic Bt strains available in upland cotton in China显示文摘There are 3 kinds of transgenic Bt strains, Shanxi 94-24, Zhongxin 94, and R19, in upland cotton in China. Their transgenic Bt insect-resistance cultivars or hybrids have been developed and grown by farmers. Genetic studies indicate that the resistance of the 3 transgenic Bt cotton strains to Helicoverpa armigera is controlled by one pair of non-allelic dominant genes. Linkage relationship between the resistant genes of R19 and Shanxi 94-24 transgenic Bt strains shows that they may be inserted in the same chromosome. FT hybrids crossed among the 3 strains show that high levels of protection from feeding damage are the same as that of their parents. Therefore, there is no co-suppression phenomenon in many transgenic plants. 9Effect of boron addition on the microstructures and mechanical properties of thermomechanically processed and tempered low carbon bainitic steels显示文摘Thermomechanical process and tempering heat treatment were employed to produce the experimental steel plates. The effect of boron addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of low carbon bainitic steels was studied in this paper. Microstructure observation and crystallographic features were conducted by using optical microscopy, SEM, TEM and electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The results showed that under the same rolling processes and heat treatment conditions, a substantial increase in strength is obtained by addition of boron into steel, but accompanied by an obvious drop in toughness. New martensite phase forms along the grain boundaries on tempering at 650 C mainly due to boron segregation, which can further deteriorate impact toughness of the boron bearing steel. The EBSD analysis showed that high angle grain boundary is not responsible for the deteriorated toughness of the boron bearing steel because it has relatively higher percentage of high angle grain boundary than the boron free steel. 11Study of the cavity-magnon-polariton transmission line shape显示文摘We experimentally and theoretically investigate the microwave transmission line shape of the cavity-magnon-polariton(CMP)created by inserting a low damping magnetic insulator into a high quality 3D microwave cavity. While fixed field measurements are found to have the expected Lorentzian characteristic, at fixed frequencies the field swept line shape is in general asymmetric. Such fixed frequency measurements demonstrate that microwave transmission can be used to access magnetic characteristics of the CMP,such as the field line width H. By developing an effective oscillator model of the microwave transmission we show that these line shape features are general characteristics of harmonic coupling. At the same time, at the classical level the underlying physical mechanism of the CMP is electrodynamic phase correlation and a second model based on this principle also accurately reproduces the experimental line shape features. In order to understand the microscopic origin of the effective coupled oscillator model and to allow for future studies of CMP phenomena to extend into the quantum regime, we develop a third, microscopic description,based on a Green's function formalism. 16Carbon Reserve Characteristics of Arbor Layer in Mid-subtropical Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest显示文摘In this paper, secondary forest of Pinus massoniana , coniferous-broad-leaved mixed forest and broad-leaved evergreen forest were taken as research objects, to explore carbon reserve of arbor layer and its spatial distribution characteristics. At different succession stages, the sequence of organic carbon content in each organ was secondary forest of P. massoniana > coniferous-broad-leaved mixed forest> broad-leaved evergreen forest. Carbon reserve of arbor layer was the highest in broad-leaved evergreen forest, which was 129.34 t/hm 2, followed by coniferous-broad-leaved mixed forest (95.83 t/hm 2), and the minimum was 85.27 t/hm 2 in secondary forest of P. massoniana . In each stand type, the sequence of carbon reserve of each organ in arbor layer was trunk>root>branch>leaf>bark. Carbon reserve of arbor layer mainly concentrated in trunk, and the proportion to carbon reserve of arbor layer declined from secondary forest of P. massoniana to broad-leaved evergreen forest, while it had increasing relationship in root. 18Biomass Characteristics of the Arbor Layer in Different Stands of the Evergreen Broad-Leaved Forest显示文摘In this paper, the Pinus massoniana forest in the early stage of succession, the coniferous broad-leaved mixed forest in the middle stage of succession, and the evergreen broad-leaved forest in the late stage of succession were studied, and the biomass and its spatial distribution characteristics of the tree layer in different succession stages of the ecosystem were discussed. The results showed that the biomass of the arbor layer was the highest in the evergreen broad-leaved forest, which was 292.51 t/ hm2, followed by the coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest, which was 206.87 t/hm2, and the Pinus massoniana forest, which was 171.76 t/hm2. The biomass of trunks accounted for the largest proportion in the total biomass of the arbor layer, which reduced from the Pinus massoniana forest to the evergreen broad-leaved forest. The proportion of the biomass of roots in the total biomass of the arbor layer increased from the Pinus massoniana forest to the evergreen broad-leaved forest.
