| 3 | Risk factors of CMV infection in patients after umbilical cord blood transplantation: a multicenter study in China显示文摘Objective:This retrospective study examined risk factors for cytomegalovirus(CMV)infection after umbilical cord blood transplantation(UCBT)and the impact of CMV infection on patient survival.Methods:In all 176 patients,plasma CMV DNA was negative prior to the transplantation,and examined twice a week for 100 d,and then once weekly for additional 300 d.Preemptive antiviral therapy(ganciclovir or foscarnet)was started in patients with>1,000/mL copies of CMV DNA but no full-blown CMV disease,and was discontinued upon two consecutive negative reports of blood CMV DNA test.The survival and risk factors for CMV infection or disease were examined using logistic regression.Results:CMV infection developed in 71%(125/176)of the patients,with a median onset of 32 d.Four patients(2.3%)developed CMV disease.Neither the 5-year overall survival(OS)nor event-free survival(EFS)differed significantly in infected patients vs.those with no infection(59.4%vs.64.8%,P=0.194;53.4%vs.59.1%,P=0.226).A stepwise multivariate analysis indicated an association of CMV infection with age,high-dose glucocorticoids,the number of transplanted CD34+cells,and the number of platelet transfusion,but not with gender,the conditioning regimen,and the day of neutrophil recovery and chronic graft-versushost disease(cGVHD).Conclusions:CMV infection is very common after UCBT,but does not seem to affect long-term survival with preemptive antiviral treatment. | Juan Tong Zimin Sun Huilan Liu Liangquan Geng Changcheng Zheng Baolin Tang Kaidi Song Wen Yao Xin Liu | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,6: | 8 |
| 4 | Surface defect ordered Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4) solar cells with efficiency over 12% via manipulating local substitution显示文摘The environmentally friendly Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4)(CZTSSe) compounds are promising direct bandgap materials for application in thin film solar cells, but the spontaneous surface defects disordering would lead to large open-circuit voltage deficit(V_(oc,deficit)) and significantly limit kesterite photovoltaics performance,primarily arising from the generated more recombination centers and insufficient p to n conversion at p-n junction. Herein, we establish a surface defects ordering structure in CZTSSe system via local substitution of Cu by Ag to suppress disordered Cu_(Zn) defects and generate benign n-type Zn_(Ag) donors. Taking advantage of the decreased annealing temperature of Ag F post deposition treatment(PDT), the high concentration of Ag incorporated into surface absorber facilitates the formation of surface ordered defect environment similar to that of efficient CIGS PV. The manipulation of highly doped surface structure could effectively reduce recombination centers, increase depletion region width and enlarge the band bending near p-n junction. As a result, the Ag F-PDT device finally achieves maximum efficiency of 12.34% with enhanced V_(oc) of 0.496 V. | 5 | The role of intraoperative electron radiotherapy in centrally located hepatocellular carcinomas treated with narrow-margin (<1 cm) hepatectomy: a prospective, phase 2 study显示文摘Background: Postoperative radiotherapy (RT) is known to play an important role in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), but the specific role of intraoperative electron radiotherapy (IOERT) in HCCs remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of IOERT in centrally located HCCs treated with narrow-margin (<1 cm) hepatectomy. Methods: This was a single-center, phase 2, prospective non-randomized controlled study, including 268 patients with centrally located HCCs who underwent narrow-margin hepatectomy. The patients were subsequently allocated to the IOERT group (n=59) or to the control group (n=65). The primary outcome of the study was to compare recurrence-free survival (RFS) between the IOERT group and the control group, and the secondary outcome was to compare overall survival (OS) rate between the two groups. Results: Of 268 patients enrolled, a total of 124 were included in the study: 59 in IOERT group, 65 in control group. The 1-, 2-, 3-year RFS rates were 79.3%, 62.1% and 45.8% for patients in the IOERT group, and 47.6%, 28.6%, and 22.9% for patients in the control group, respectively (P=0.025). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year OS rates were 100.0%, 94.9%, and 83.7% for patients in the IOERT group, and 92.3%, 87.5%, and 79.4% for patients in the control group, respectively (P=0.314). Subgroup analysis of MVI (+) patients revealed that RFS and OS are significantly prolonged in the IOERT subgroup as compared to the control, whereas there was no significant difference of RFS and OS between the two groups in MVI (−) patients. Conclusions: IOERT for centrally located HCCs with concurrent narrow-margin hepatectomy was feasible and safe. Statistically better RFS rate was observed in the IOERT group compared to the control group. Subgroup analysis revealed that IOERT was more beneficial for postoperative survival of HCC patients with MVI. | 6 | Extinction of the zero-phonon line and the first-order phonon sideband in excitonic luminescence of ZnO at room temperature: the self-absorption effect显示文摘It is firmly demonstrated in experiment that the self-absorption(SA) effect can lead to the extinction of the zero-phonon line and the first-order longitudinal optical phonon sideband of free excitonic luminescence of ZnO at room temperature. Moreover, effectiveness degree of SA effect is found to be dependent on both absorption coefficient and travelling distance of emitted photons, as well as even lattice temperature, which is uniquely reflected by the redshift amount in emission peak in ZnO. It is also unambiguously proved that the SA effect still strictly obeys the Beer-Lambert law of absorption. | 11 | Influence of Dechlorination Temperature on Propane Dehydrogenation over Pt-θ-Al2O3显示文摘Several Pt-θ-Al_2O_3 catalysts with similar ultra-low Cl contents were used to investigate the influence of dechlorination temperature on propane dehydrogenation reaction. The Pt-θ-Al_2O_3 catalyst treated at a highest dechlorination temperature showed a lowest propane rate and propylene selectivity. The scanning transmission electron microscopy showed that the dispersions of Pt nanoparticles decreased with an increasing dechlorination temperature. The temperature-programmed reduction analysis showed that higher dechlorination temperature could lead to strong interactions between the metal and support, making it difficult to reduce Pt nanoparticles. The temperature-programmed oxidation analysis implied that more coke was deposited on the metal for catalyst treated at higher dechlorination temperature. The Raman spectra and the H/C ratio showed that more side-reactions, such as cracking and severe deep dehydrogenation reactions, occurred on catalysts treated at higher dechlorination temperatures. | 16 | Growth plasticity of conifers did not avoid declining resilience to soil and atmospheric droughts during the 20th century显示文摘Background:Plasticity in response to environmental drivers can help trees cope with droughts.However,our understanding of the importance of plasticity and physiological adjustments in trees under global change is limited.Methods:We used the International Tree-Ring Data Bank(ITRDB)to examine 20th century growth responses in conifer trees during(resistance)and following(resilience)years of severe soil and atmospheric droughts occurring in isolation or as compound events.Growth resilience indices were calculated using observed growth divided by expected growth to avoid spurious correlations,in which the expected values were obtained by the autoregressive moving average(ARIMA)model.We used high atmospheric vapour pressure deficit(VPD)to select years of atmospheric drought and low annual values of the Standardized Precipitation-Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI)to select years with soil drought.We acquired the sensitivities(i.e.,the slopes of the relationships)by fitting the resilience indices as a function of environmental drivers,and assessed how these sensitivities changed over time for different types of drought events using linear mixed models.We also checked whether plasticity in growth responses was sufficient to prevent long-term trends of growth reductions during or after severe droughts.We acknowledge that by focusing on the response of surviving trees from the ITRDB we are potentially biasing our results towards higher resilience,as stand level responses(e.g.,mortality)may result in lowered competition after the disturbance event.Results:Sensitivities of resilience to VPD and SPEI changed throughout the 20th century,with the directions of these changes often reversing in the second half of the century.For the 1961–2010 period,changing sensitivities had positive effects on resilience,especially following years of high-VPD and compound events,avoiding growth losses that would have occurred if sensitivities had remained constant.Despite sensitivity changes,resilience was still lower at the end of the 20th century compared to the beginning of the century.Conclusions:Future adjustments to low-SPEI and high-VPD events are likely to continue to compensate for the trends in climate only partially,leading to further generalized reductions in tree growth of conifers.An improved understanding of these plastic adjustments and their limits,as well as potential compensatory processes at the stand level,is needed to project forest responses to climate change. | Tong Zheng Jordi Martínez-Vilalta Raúl García-Valdés Antonio Gazol J.Julio Camarero Changcheng Mu Maurizio Mencuccini | 2023 | Forest Ecosystems2023,10,2: | 0 |

D-ribose has been used as a staring material for preparation of some certain medicines or just as a new nutraceutical that helps the body naturally restore its energy level. The fermentative processes are the best for their relatively simple series of production steps and relatively cheap starting materials. However, because of the many impurities in glucose yeast water and its dark color, pretreatment and purification must be done to the fluid before D-ribose can be separated. In this paper, separation and purification of D-ribose was carried out using cation exchange resins, of which Ca2+ exchange resin had the best effect. The optimal condition for adsorption is a flow velocity of 0.5BV/h at adsorption temperature of 25℃. | 20 | A descriptor of “material genes”: Effective atomic size in structural unit of ionic crystals显示文摘The atomic size of each element, described by the ionic radius, is one category of 'material genes' and can facilitate our understanding of atomic arrangements in compounds. Most of the ionic radii currently used to measure the sizes of cations and anions in ionic crystals are derived from hard-sphere model based on the coordination numbers, or the soft-sphere model incorporating the effect of ionic polarization. Herein we take a first step towards a novel 'effective atomic size'(EAS) model,which takes into consideration the impact of the types and number of neighboring atoms on the relationship between ionic radii and interatomic distances. Taking the binary compounds between Group IA/IIA and VIA/VIIA elements gathered from the latest databases as an example, we show that the proposed EAS model can yield excellent agreement between the predicted and the DFT-calculated interatomic distances, with deviation of less than 0.1 ?. A set of EAS radii for ionic crystals has been compiled and the role of coordination numbers, geometric symmetry and distortion of structural units has been examined.
