| 1 | Formation history and protolith characteristics of granulite facies metamorphic rock in Central Cathaysia deduced from U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic studies of single zircon grains显示文摘The petrochemical as well as zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic studies of granulite facies metamorphic rock from the Taoxi Group in eastern Nanling Range, Central Cathaysia indicate that its protolith is the sedimentary rock with low maturation index. The clastic materials are mostly from middle Neoproterozoic (~736 Ma) granitoid rocks with minor Neoarchaean and Paleoproterozoic rocks. The timing of this Neoproterozoic magmatism is in agreement with the second period of magmatism widespread surrounding the Yangtze Block. Hf isotopic data indicate that the Neoproterozoic granitoids resulted from the recycled Paleoproterozoic mantle-derived crustal materials. The sedimentary rock was deposited in Late Neoproterozoic Era, and carried into low crust in Early Paleozoic. The partial melting of the meta-sedimentary rock took place at about 480 Ma and subsequently granulite facies metamorphism occurred at ca. 443 Ma. The zircons forming during this time interval (Early Paleozoic) show large Hf isotope variations, and their -Hf(t) values increase from -13.2 to +2.36 with decreasing age, suggesting the injection of mantle-derived materials during partial melting and metamorphism processes in the Early Paleozoic. Calculation results show that this metamorphic rock, if evolved to Mesozoic, has similar isotopic composition to the nearby Mesozoic high Si peraluminous granites, implying that this kind of granulite facies metamorphic rock is probably the source material of some Mesozoic peraluminous granitoids in eastern Nanling Range. | YU Jinhai ZHOU Xinmin Y. | 2 | Blockade of cholecystokinin-2 receptor and cyclooxygenase-2 synergistically induces cell apoptosis, and inhibits the proliferation of human gastric cancer cells in vitro显示文摘Gastrin and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) playimportant roles in the carcinogenesis and progression ofgastric cancer.However,it remains unknown whether the combination of cholecystokinin-2(CCK-2) receptor antagonist plus COX-2 inhibitor exerts synergistic anti-tumor effects on human gastric cancer.Here,we demonstrated that the combination of AG-041R(a CCK-2 receptor antagonist) plus NS-398(a selective COX-2 inhibitor) treatment had synergistic effects on proliferation inhibition,apoptosis induction,down-regulation of Bcl-2 and up-regulation of Bax expression in MKN-45 cells.These results indicate that simultaneous targeting of CCK-2 receptor and COX-2 may inhibit gastric cancer development more effectively than targeting either molecule alone.(C)2008 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.All rights reserved. | Sun, W. | 4 | Contamination by Organochlorine Pesticides in the Estuaries of Southeast China显示文摘Persistent organic pollutants(POPs) such as organochlorine pesticides are of global concern due to their widespread occurrence and persistence. This paper reports recent research studying the distribution and fate of organochlorine pesticides in the Jiulong River, the Minjiang River and the Pearl River estuaries in Southeast China. Eighteen organochlorine pesticides were extracted from water, pore water and sediment samples, followed by analysis by GC ECD. The results showed that the contamination levels were similar in these three estuaries. The levels of the total organochlorine pesticides in porewater were significantly higher than those in surface water, due to the high affinity of these hydrophobic compounds for sediment phase. Among the hexachlorocyclohexane(HCH) compounds, β HCH was found to be the most important isomer. The analysis of 1,1,1 trichloro 2,2 bis chlorophenyl ethane(DDT) and its metabolites showed that 1,1 dichloro 2[ o chlorophenyl] 2[ p chlorophenyl] ethylene(DDE) was dominant in the group. | Z. L. | 6 | Design optimization of cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys for high damping capacity显示文摘This paper investigated high-damping Cu-Al-Be-B cast alloys using metallographic analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrical resistance measurements for transformation temperatures. The results showed that beryllium can stabilize β phase, resulting in a thermo-elastic martensite microstructure leading to high-damping capacity in cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys. Trace additions of boron to Cu-Al-Be alloys can significantly refine the grains, providing high strength and ductility to the alloys. A factorial design of experiment method was used to optimize the composition and properties of cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys. The optimal microstructure for thermo-elastic martensite can be obtained by adjusting the amounts of aluminum and beryllium to eutectoid or pseudo-eutectoid compositions. An optimized cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloy was developed to provide excellent mechanical properties, tensile strength σ_b=767MPa, elongation δ=7.62%, and damping capacity S. D. C=18.70%. | ~*S. Lu~(1,2), W. | 9 | Quantification of dynamic tensile parameters of rocks using a modified Kolsky tension bar apparatus显示文摘For brittle materials,the tensile strength plays an important role in mechanical analyses and engineering applications.Although quasi-static direct and dynamic indirect tensile strength testing methods have already been developed for rocks,the dynamic direct pull test is still necessary to accurately determine the tensile strength of rocks.In this paper,a Kolsky tension bar system is developed for measuring the dynamic direct tensile strength of rocks.A dumbbell-shaped sample is adopted and attached to the bars using epoxy glue.The pulse shaping technique is utilized to eliminate the inertial effect of samples during test.The single pulse loading technique is developed for the effective microstructure analyses of tested samples.Two absorption devices are successfully utilized to reduce the reflection of waves in the incident bar and transmitted bar,respectively.Laurentian granite(LG) is tested to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.The tensile strength of LG increases with the loading rate.Furthermore,the nominal surface energy of LG is measured,which also increases with the loading rate. | S. | 13 | An Improvement on the Efficiency of a Single Rotor Transonic Compressor by Reducing the Shock Wave Strength on the Blade Suction Surfaces显示文摘It is well known that increasing the rotational velocity is an effective way to increase the total pressure ratio. With increasing flow velocity especially under the condition of transonic flow in the supersonic region, where exist strong shock waves, the shock wave loss becomes main and important. Simultaneously, there occurs boundary layer separation due to the shock wave / boundary layer interaction. In the present paper the transonic compressor blades were studied and analyzed to find a proper and simple way to reduce the shock wave loss by optimizing the suction surface configuration or controlling the gradient of isentropic Mach number on the suction surface. A Navier-Stokes solver combined with a modified design algorithm was developed and used. The NASA single rotor for transonic flow compressor was served as a numerical example to show the effectiveness of this method.
