2Environmental records of lacustrine sediments in different time scales:Sediment grain size as an example显示文摘Sediment grain size is a conventional proxy of climatic changes. Larger sediment grain size is often interpreted to indicate dry climate during lower lake level while smaller sedi- ment grain size implies wet climate during higher lake level. Through detailed study on sediment grain sizes in Lake Erhai and Lake Chenghai, this paper reveals the different indication signifi- cances of sediment grain sizes in different time scales, different resolution investigations. For long time-scale and low resolution (102a or 103a) studies, larger sediment grain size indicates lower lake level, smaller lake area and drier climate while smaller sediment grain size indicates higher lake level, larger lake area and wetter climate. For short time-scale and high resolution (a or 10a) studies, larger sediment grain size reflects more rainfall and wetter climate while smaller sediment grain size reflects less rainfall and drier climate. Environmental information revealed by lacustrine sediment records is often different in different time scales because of the variance of sedimentation resolution, sampling resolution and dating precision. Therefore, paleoclimate im- plications of environmental proxies in long time-scale and low resolution investigations could not be mechanically applied to short time-scale and high resolution studies. 5Effects of extract of Buddleja officinalis on partial inflammation of lacrimal gland in castrated rabbits with dry eye显示文摘AIM:To assess the effects of extract of Buddleja officinalis on tear secretion volume,tear film stability,expressions of TGF-β1,IL-1β,TNF-αin lacrimal gland of castrated rabbits with dry eye. METHODS:A total of 30 victory rabbits were divided averagely into normal group(A),model group(B),therapy group with low dose extract of Buddleja officinalis(C), therapy group with high dose extract of Buddleja officinalis (D)and therapy group with genistein(E).The dry eye model was established with orchiectomy on Group B,C,D,E.Group C,D,E were administered intragastrically with corresponding dose extract of Buddleja officinalis or genistein for 30 days. All rabbits were detected with SIT.TGF-β1,IL-1β,TNF-αwere detected with immunohistochemistry and the ultrastructure of lacrimal gland was observed under transmission electron microscope. RESULTS:The SIT value of group C,D,E were respectively 13.167±4.957,14.667±5.279,8.667±0.516,obviously higher than that of group B 5.667±2.338(P<0.01).The positive expression of IL-1βin acinar cell and glandular tube cell of group C,D were 0.470±0.048,0.510±0.088, obviously lower than that of group B 0.770±0.118(P<0.01). The positive expression of TNF-αof group C,D were 0.498±0.156,0.435±0.069,obviously lower than that of group B 0.769±0.095 too(P<0.01).The positive expression of TGF-β1 of group C,D were 0.406±0.171,0.497±0.147, obviously higher than that of group B 0.222±0.113(P<0.01). Any result of group C,D was positive compared with that of group E(P<0.05).Ultrastructure of the lacrimal gland of group C,D,E was well preserved,especially in D group it was remarkable. 6Preparation of RuO_2-SnO_2 nanomaterial by sol gel technique显示文摘Ru Sn binary oxide is one of the most frequently used anode coating material in electrochemical industry, but its composition distribution and microstructure are not homogeneous, so the nanoscale RuO 2 SnO 2 binary oxide was prepared for improvement by a sol gel technique. The morphology, microstructure, crystal structure and other properties of the new oxide were studied by EPMA, DTA,XRD,TEM, and electrochemical analysis. 7Construction of a sustainable 3-hydroxybutyrate-producing probiotic Escherichia coli for treatment of colitis显示文摘Colitis is a common disease of the colon that is very difficult to treat.Probiotic bacteria could be an effective treatment.The probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917(EcN)was engineered to synthesize the ketone body(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate(3HB)for sustainable production in the gut lumen of mice suffering from colitis.Components of heterologous 3HB synthesis routes were constructed,expressed,optimized,and inserted into the EcN genome,combined with deletions in competitive branch pathways.The genome-engineered EcN produced the highest 3HB level of 0.6 g/L under microaerobic conditions.The live therapeutic was found to colonize the mouse gastrointestinal tract over 14 days,elevating gut 3HB and short-chain-length fatty acid(SCFA)levels 8.7-and 3.1-fold compared to those of wild-type EcN,respectively.The sustainable presence of 3HB in mouse guts promoted the growth of probiotic bacteria,especially Akkermansia spp.,to over 31%from the initial 2%of all the microbiome.As a result,the engineered EcN termed EcNL4 ameliorated colitis induced via dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)in mice.Compared to wild-type EcN or oral administration of 3HB,oral EcNL4 uptake demonstrated better effects on mouse weights,colon lengths,occult blood levels,gut tissue myeloperoxidase activity and proinflammatory cytokine concentrations.Thus,a promising live bacterium was developed to improve colonic microenvironments and further treat colitis.This proof-of-concept design can be employed to treat other diseases of the colon.Xu Yan Xin-Yi Liu Dian Zhang Yu-Dian Zhang Zi-Hua Li Xu Liu Fuqing Wu Guo-Qiang Chen 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,10:8
8Dynamic Balance Control Based on an Adaptive Gain-scheduled Backstepping Scheme for Power-line Inspection Robots显示文摘This paper presents an adaptive gain-scheduled backstepping control(AGSBC) scheme for the balance control of an underactuated mechanical power-line inspection(PLI) robotic system with two degrees of freedom and a single control input.First, a nonlinear dynamic model of the balance adjustment process of the PLI robot is constructed, and then the model is linearized at a nominal equilibrium point to overcome the computational infeasibility of the conventional backstepping technique. Second, to solve generalized stabilization control issue for underactuated systems with multiple equilibrium points,an equilibrium manifold linearized model is developed using a scheduling variable, and then a gain-scheduled backstepping control(GSBC) scheme for expanding the operational area of the controlled system is constructed. Finally, an adaptive mechanism is proposed to counteract the impact of external disturbances. The robust stability of the closed-loop system is ensured by Lyapunov theorem. 13Modified frontolateral partial laryngectomy operation: combined muscle-pedicle hyoid bone and thyrohyoid membrane flap in laryngeal reconstruction显示文摘Objective: Laryngeal reconstruction is needed to preserve laryngeal function in patients who have undergone extensive vertical or frontal partial laryngectomy. However, the procedure remains a difficult challenge. Several reconstruction techniques have been described, but these techniques pose risks of complications such as laryngeal stenosis. This study aimed to evaluate the postoperative course and functional outcomes of a new technique that combined a muscle-pedicle hyoid bone and a thyrohyoid flap during laryngeal reconstruction after tumor resection. Methods: Four patients underwent extensive vertical partial or frontal partial laryngectomy for cancer. After tumor resection, laryngeal reconstruction was performed using the proposed technique. Postoperative recovery time, complications, and oncologic results were evaluated. Results: The four patients were successfully treated with the proposed technique. No dyspnea, dysphagia, or death occurred during the postoperative course. Decannulation was performed after a median of 3 days. The average postoperative hospital stay was 7 days. Short-term postoperative functional recovery was normal. No laryngeal stenosis or tumor recurrence was observed in any of the four patients after a follow-up period of more than 24 months. 14NUMB maintains bone mass by promoting degradation of PTEN and GLI1 via ubiquitination in osteoblasts显示文摘The adaptor protein NUMB is involved in asymmetric division and cell fate determination and recognized as an antagonist of Notch.Previous studies have proved that Notch activation in osteoblasts contributes to a high bone mass. In this study, however, an osteopenic phenotype was found in 9-week-old mice using osteoblastic specific Col1a1–2.3-Cre to ablate both Numb and its homologue Numbl. The trabecular bone mass decreased dramatically while the cortical bone mass was unaffected. Here, the Notch signal was not activated,while the tensin homologue deleted on human chromosome 10(PTEN), which dephosphorylates phosphatidylinositide 3-kinases, was elevated, attenuating protein kinase B(Akt). The ubiquitination assay revealed that NUMB may physiologically promote PTEN ubiquitination in the presence of neural precursor cell-expressed developmentally downregulated protein 4–1. In addition, the deficiency of Numb/Numbl also activated the Hedgehog pathway through GLI1. This process was found to improve the ratio of the receptor activator of nuclear factor-k B ligand to osteoprotegerin, which enhanced the differentiation of osteoclasts and bone resorption. 15Effect of water on extractive desulfurization of fuel oils using ionic liquids: A COSMO-RS and experimental study显示文摘When evaluating ionic liquids(ILs) for extractive desulfurization(EDS) of fuel oils, the inevitable presence of water in the system may have a significant and in many cases strongly negative effect. However, few studies have considered this particular issue and a promoted water effect on EDS is scarcely reported. In this work,COSMO-RS was firstly employed to calculate the capacity and selectivity for EDS of various IL/H_2 O mixtures,which cover different IL characters and a wide water concentration range. Experiments were then conducted with a representative IL [C_4MIM][H_2PO_4], whose stable and even promoted extraction performance with a small amount of water was suggested by COSMO-RS. Through analyses of the desulfurization ratio, the crosssolubility and the water content in the desulfurized fuel, the promoted effect of water within a certain range(b 10 wt%) was experimentally demonstrated. 17Nested relation extraction with iterative neural network显示文摘Most existing researches on relation extraction focus on binary flat relations like Bomln relation between a Person and a Location.But a large portion of objective facts de-scribed in natural language are complex,especially in professional documents in fields such as finance and biomedicine that require precise expressions.For example,“the GDP of the United States in 2018 grew 2.9%compared with 2017”describes a growth rate relation between two other relations about the economic index,which is beyond the expressive power of binary flat relations.Thus,we propose the nested relation extraction problem and formulate it as a directed acyclic graph(DAG)structure extraction problem.Then,we propose a solution using the Iterative Neural Network which extracts relations layer by layer.The proposed solution achieves 78.98 and 97.89 FI scores on two nested relation extraction tasks,namely semantic cause-and-efFect relation extraction and formula extraction.Furthermore,we observe that nested relations are usually expressed in long sentences where entities are mentioned repetitively,which makes the annotation difficult and error-prone.Hence,we extend our model to incorporate a mention-insensitive mode that only requires annotations of relations on entity concepts(instead of exact mentions)while preserving most of its performance.Our mention-insensitive model performs better than the mention sensitive model when the random level in mention selection is higher than 0.3.Yixuan CAO Dian CHEN Zhengqi XU Hongwei LI Ping LUO 2021Frontiers of Computer Science2021,15,3:2

19An improvement to the reciprocating gait orthosis for aiding paraplegic patients in walking显示文摘As the conventional reciprocating gait orthosis(RGO)has been deemed incapable of facilitating the patients’passive movement with significant gait discrepancies and distortion,in addition to characteristics such as poor stability,and negligible knee joint rehabilitation,a power assisted reciprocating gait orthosis(PARGO)was designed.Drive devices were added to the hip and knee joints of the RGO.Through efficient implementation of structural components,the number of the required motors was reduced,therefore decreasing the weight of the orthosis.The PARGO knee joint’s structural principle was analyzed to characterize the effect of the PARGO’s single-axis knee joint design on wear comfort,thereby providing a basis for the wear of the PARGO.By analyzing the sagittal movement patterns of the hip and knee joints during normal human gait,kinematic analysis was carried out to obtain the input patterns of the PARGO hip and knee joint drive motors,enabling the patients to more accurately reproduce the normal gaits of hip and knee joints during the rehabilitation training with the aid of the PARGO,and the control process of the PARGO was studied.Finally,a prototype of the PARGO was developed,and experimentation was carried out to demonstrate the feasibility of the improved orthosis.CHEN Dian Sheng NING Meng ZHANG Ben Guang YANG Guang 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,4:2
20Preparation and efficacy evaluation of Paenibacillus polymyxa KM2501-1 microbial organic fertilizer against root-knot nematodes显示文摘Root-knot nematodes(RKNs) cause huge yield losses to agricultural crops worldwide. Meanwhile, livestock manure is often improperly managed by farmers, which leads to serious environmental pollution. To resolve these two problems, this study developed a procedure for the conversion of chicken manure to organic fertilizer by larvae of Hermetia illucens L. and Bacillus subtilis BSF-CL. Chicken manure organic fertilizer was then mixed thoroughly with Paenibacillus polymyxa KM2501-1 to a final concentration of 1.5×10^(8)CFU g^(-1). The efficacy of KM2501-1 microbial organic fertilizer in controlling root-knot nematodes was evaluated in pot and field experiments. In pot experiments, applying KM2501-1 microbial organic fertilizer either as a base fertilizer or as a fumigant at the dose of 40 g/pot suppressed root-knot disease by 61.76 and 69.05% compared to the corresponding control treatments, respectively. When applied as a fumigant at the dose of 1 kg m;in field experiments, KM2501-1 microbial organic fertilizer enhanced the growth of tomato plants, suppressed root-knot disease by 49.97%, and reduced second stage juveniles of RKN in soil by 88.68%. KM2501-1 microbial organic fertilizer controlled RKNs better than commercial bio-organic fertilizer in both pot and field experiments.
