| 1 | Analysis of genetic diversity and differentiation of artificial populations of yellowhorn(Xanthoceras sorbifolium) in China using ISSR markers显示文摘Yellowhorn(Xanthoceras sorbifolium Bunge)is a drought-tolerant tree in the family Sapindaceae that is native to northeastern China. Its remarkably oil-rich seeds are a reliable biodiesel source. An inter simple sequence repeat(ISSR) analysis showed genetic variation among four artificial populations in China:two in Inner Mongolia(IM),one in Liaoning(LN),and one in Shandong(SD).The average percentage of polymorphic loci was 81.25 % for these four populations. The Forest Farm in SD showed the highest number of effective alleles(Ne),Shannon index(I),and expected heterozygosity(He),i.e.,1.598,0.470,and 0.325,respectively,but the lowest number of alleles(Na) as 1.600.Based on an analysis of molecular variance,23 % of the total genetic variation was found among populations, and 77 % within populations.A principal coordinate analysis revealed two groups(Group 1:Lindonglinchang,Jianping Agriculture Research Station and Forest Farm;Group 2:Jinjilinchang).Understanding the genetic diversity among artificial yellowhorn populations in China, detected using ISSRs,will be useful for yellowhorn conservation and improvement.Additional artificial and natural populations need to be included in the future for a country-wide perspective. | Chanhoon An Hyunseok Lee Jeonghoon Lee Eun Ju Cheong Yuhua Li Jae-Seon Yi | 2016 | Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,5: | 4 |
| 2 | Cancer-associated fibroblast-derived secreted phosphoprotein 1 contributes to resistance of hepatocellular carcinoma to sorafenib and lenvatinib显示文摘Background:Cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)play an important role in the induction of chemo-resistance.This study aimed to clarify the mechanism underlying CAF-mediated resistance to two tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs),sorafenib and lenvatinib, and to identify a novel therapeutic target for overcoming TKI resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:We performed a systematic integrative analysis of publicly available gene expression datasets and whole-transcriptome sequencing data from 9 pairs of CAFs and para-cancer fibroblasts isolated from human HCC and para-tumor tissues, respectively,to identify key molecules that might induce resistance to TKIs.We then performed in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate selected targets and related mechanisms. The associations of plasma secreted phosphoprotein 1(SPP1)expression levels before sorafenib/lenvatinib treatment with progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)of 54 patients with advanced HCC were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis. Results:Bioinformatic analysis identified CAF-derived SPP1 as a candidate molecule driving TKI resistance.SPP1 inhibitors reversed CAF-induced TKI resistance in vitro and in vivo.CAF-derived SPP1 activated rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma(RAF)/mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)through the integrin-protein kinase C-alpha(PKCα)signaling pathway and promoted epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT).A high plasma SPP1 level before TKI treatment was identified as an independent predictor of poor PFS(P=0.026)and OS(P=0.047)in patients with advanced HCC after TKI treatment.Conclusions:CAF-derived SPP1 enhances TKI resistance in HCC via bypass activation of oncogenic signals and EMT promotion. Its inhibition represents a promising therapeutic strategy against TKI resistance inHCC.Moreover, plasma SPP1 level before TKI treatment represents a potential biomarker for treatment response prediction. | JungWoo Eun Jung Hwan Yoon Hye Ri Ahn Seokhwi Kim Young Bae Kim Su Bin Lim Won Park TaeWook Kang Geum Ok Baek Moon Gyeong Yoon Ju A Son Ji HyangWeon Soon Sun Kim Hyo Jung Cho Jae Youn Cheong | 2023 | Cancer Communications2023,43,4: | 2 |

| 6 | Proximate and mineral components of Viscum album var. coloratum grown on eight different host tree species显示文摘Mistletoes are parasite plants growing on various tree species, taking nutrients from the host.Beneficial compounds of mistletoe were used in medicine and these mistletoes were commonly collected from oak species that were not well identified. We analyzed the nutritional value by measuring proximate and mineral components of Korean mistletoe(Viscum album var.coloratum)from various host trees.Carbohydrate was the most proximate component in both leaves and twigs followed crude protein, crude fiber, crude ash and crude fat. While the contents of the proximate components and minerals varied among hosts and between plant parts, leaves contained higher crude protein and ash,and more minerals except for magnesium than twigs, although no significant difference was found inmistletoe grown on Prunus mandshurica. There were significant differences of proximate and mineral contents depending on the host species.Mistletoe grown on Chaenomeles sinensis contained higher levels of carbohydrates, crude fat, crude ash, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, and zinc than mistletoe grown on other species.Mistletoe grown on P.mandshurica contained high mineral levels of potassium, copper and phosphorous. The nutritional value of mistletoes were greatly influenced by the host species but among the hosts, specific nutrients accumulated in leaves more than in twigs, and vice versa.Based on the analysis,Korean mistletoe contains relatively good quality of nutrients and has high potential for dietary supplements as well as for medicinal compounds. | Chul-Woo Kim Chan-Hoon An Hyun-Seok Lee Jae-Seon Yi Eun Ju Cheong Sang-Hyun Lim Hee-Yeon Kim | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,4: | 0 |
