| 2 | Effect of specimen size on energy dissipation characteristics of red sandstone under high strain rate显示文摘In this experiment, red sandstone specimens, having slenderness ratios of 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.1 respectively, were subjected to blow tests using a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB) system at a pressure of 0.4 atmospheres. In this paper, we have analyzed the effect of slenderness ratio on the mechanical properties and energy dissipation characteristics of red sandstone under high strain rates. The processes of compaction, elastic deformation and stress softening deformation of specimens contract with an increase in slenderness ratio, whilst the nonlinear deformation process extends correspondingly. In addition, degrees of damage of specimens reduced gradually and the type of destruction showed a transformation trend from stretching failure towards shear failure when the slenderness ratio increased. A model of dynamic damage evolution in red sandstone was established and the parameters of the constitutive model at different ratios of length to diameter were determined. By comparison with the experimental curve, the accuracy of the model, which could reflect the stress–strain dynamic characteristics of red sandstone, was verified. From the view of energy dissipation, an increase in slenderness ratio of a specimen decreased the proportion of energy dissipation and caused a gradual fall in the capability of energy dissipation during the specimen failure process. | 4 | A transcription factor STOP1-centered pathway coordinates ammonium and phosphate acquisition in Arabidopsis显示文摘Phosphorus(P)is an indispensable macronutrient required for plant growth and development.Natural phosphate(Pi)reserves are finite,and a better understanding of Pi utilization by crops is therefore vital for worldwide food security.Ammonium has long been known to enhance Pi acquisition efficiency in agriculture;however,the molecular mechanisms coordinating Pi nutrition and ammonium remains unclear.Here,we reveal that ammonium is a novel initiator that stimulates the accumulation of a key regulatory protein,STOP1,in the nuclei of Arabidopsis root cells under Pi deficiency.We show that Pi deficiency promotes ammonium uptake mediated by AMT1 transporters and causes rapid acidification of the root surface.Rhizosphere acidification-triggered STOP1 accumulation activates the excretion of organic acids,which help to solubilize Pi from insoluble iron or calcium phosphates.Ammonium uptake by AMT1 transporters is downregulated by a CIPK23 protein kinase whose expression is directly modulated by STOP1 when ammonium reaches toxic levels.Taken together,we have identified a STOP1-centered regulatory network that links external ammonium with efficient Pi acquisition from insoluble phosphate sources.These findings provide a framework for developing possible strategies to improve crop production by enhancing the utilization of non-bioavailable nutrients in soil. | Wen Hao Tian Jia Yuan Ye Meng Qi Cui Jun Bo Chang Yu Liu GuiXin Li Yun Rong Wu Ji Ming Xu Nicholas P.Harberd Chuan Zao Mao Chong Wei Jin Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,9: | 5 |

| 6 | Regulating catalyst morphology to boost the stability of Ni–Mo/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst for ebullated-bed residue hydrotreating显示文摘Hydrotreating of vacuum residue by ebullated-bed shows tremendous significance due to more stringent environmental regulations and growing demand for lighter fuels. However, enhancing the catalyst stability still remains as a challenging task. Herein, two Ni–Mo/Al_(2)O_(3) catalysts with distinct morphologies(i.e., spherical and cylindrical) were first designed, and the morphology effect on deactivation was systematically elucidated employing multi-characterizations, such as HRTEM with EDX mapping, electron microprobe analysis, FT-IR, TGA and Raman. It is found that spherical catalyst exhibits superior hydrotreating stability over 1600 h. The carbonaceous deposits on spherical catalyst with less graphite structure are lighter, and the coke weight is also smaller. In addition, the metal deposits uniformly distribute in the spherical catalyst, which is better than the concentrated distribution near the pore mouth for the cylindrical catalyst. Furthermore, the intrinsic reason for the differences was analyzed by the bed expansion experiment. Higher bed expansion rate together with the better mass transfer ability leads to the enhanced performance. | 8 | EMC10 governs male fertility via maintaining sperm ion balance显示文摘Infertility is a severe public health problem worldwide that prevails up to 15% in reproductive-age couples,and male infertility accounts for half of total infertility.Studies on genetically modified animal models have identifed lots of genes involved in the pathogenesis of male infertility.The underlying causes,however,remain largely unclear.In this study,we provide evidence that EMCIO,one subunit of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)membrane protein complex (EMC),is required for male fertility.EMC10 is significantly decreased in spermatozoa from patients with asthenozoospermia and positively associated with human sperm motility. Male mice lacking Emc10 gene are completely sterile.Emc10-null spermatozoa exhibit multiple defects including abnormal morphology,decreased motility,impaired capacitation,and impotency of acrosome reaction,thereby which are incapable of fertilizing intact or ZP-free oocytes.However,intracytoplasmic sperm injection could rescue this defect caused by EMC10 deletion. | 9 | Tetra-armed conjugated microporous polymers for gas adsorption and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution显示文摘Two novel tetra-armed conjugated microporous polymers with different geometries have been designed and synthesized via Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling polycondensation. Both polymers are stable in various organic solvents tested and are thermally stable. The pyrene-containing polymer of PrPy with the rigid pyrene unit shows a higher Brunauer-Emmet-Teller specific surface area of 1219 m^2 g^(-1) than the tetraphenylethylene-containing polymer of PrTPE(770 m^2 g^(-1)), which leads to a high CO_2 uptake ability of 3.89 mmol g^(-1) at 1.13 bar/273 K and a H_2 uptake ability of 1.69 wt% at 1.13 bar/77 K.
