1Catalytic performance of Fe_3O_4-CoO/Al_2O_3 catalyst in ozonation of 2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) propionic acid,nitrobenzene and oxalic acid in water显示文摘Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by incipient wetness impregnation using Fe(NO3) 3·9H2O and Co(NO3) 2·6H2O as the precursors,and its catalytic performance was investigated in ozonation of 2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) propionic acid(2,4-DP) ,nitrobenzene and oxalic acid.The experimental results indicated that Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 catalyst enabled an interesting improvement of ozonation eciency during the degradation of each organic pollutant,and the Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 catalytic ozonation system followed a radical-type mechanism.The kinetics of ozonation alone and Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 catalytic ozonation of three organic pollutants in aqueous solution were discussed under the mere consideration of direct ozone reaction and OH radical reaction to well investigate its performance.In the catalytic ozonation of 2,4-DP,the apparent reaction rate constants(k) were determined to be 1.456×10-2 min-1 for ozonation alone and 4.740×10-2 min-1 for O3/Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3.And O3/Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 had a larger Rct(6.614×10-9) calculated by the relative method than O3 did(1.800×10-9) ,showing O3/Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 generated more hydroxyl radical.Similar results were also obtained in the catalytic ozonation of nitrobenzene and oxalic acid.The above results demonstrated that the catalytic performance of Fe3O4-CoO/Al2O3 in ozonation of studied organic substance was universal to a certain degree.Shaoping Tong,Rui Shi,Hua Zhang,Chunan Ma College of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science,State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Green Chemistry-Synthesis Technology,Zhejiang University of Technology,Hangzhou 310032,China 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,10:10
2Discontinuous deformation and displacement analysis: From continuous to discontinuous显示文摘A discontinuous deformation and displacement(DDD) analysis method is proposed for modelling the rock failure process. This method combines the rock failure process analysis(RFPA) method(based on finite element method) and discontinuous deformation analysis(DDA) method. RFPA is used to simulate crack initiation, propagation and coalescence processes of rock during the small deformation state. The DDA method is used to simulate the movement of blocks created by the multiple cracks modelled by the RFPA. The newly developed DDD method is particularly suitable for modelling both crack propagation and block movement during the rock failure process because of the natural and convenient coupling of continuous and discontinuous deformation analyses. The proposed method has been used to simulate crack initiation, propagation and coalescence within a slope as well as the block movement during the landslide process. 3A kinetic model of Ti(IV)-catalyzed H_2O_2/O_3 process in aqueous solution显示文摘To well describe the Ti(IV)-catalyzed H2O2/O3 reaction in aqueous solution, a kinetic model was established based on its mechanism. This model was then validated by the experiments of acetic acid degradation in aqueous solution. It was found that the correlation coefficient of fittings was higher than 0.970. Three key operating factors affecting organic degradation in the Ti(IV)-catalyzed H2O2/O3 process were studied, including Ti(IV) concentration, dissolved ozone concentration and initial H2O2 concentration. Furthermore, some experiments were conducted to determine the rate constant for dissolved ozone decomposition initiated by Ti2O52+. The rate constant measured is almost in accord with the data analyzed by this kinetic model. The goodness of fittings demonstrated that this model could well describe the kinetics of the Ti(IV)-catalyzed H2O2/O3 reaction mathematically and chemically. 4Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition Nanocrystalline Tungsten Carbide Thin Film and Its Electro-catalytic Activity显示文摘Nanocrystalline tungsten carbide thin films were fabricated on graphite substrates by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) at H2 and Ar atmosphere, using WF6 and CH4 as precursors. The crystal phase, structure and chemical components of the films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS), respectively. The results show that the film prepared at CH4/WF6concentration ratio of 20 and at 800℃ is composed of spherical particles with a diameter of 20~35 nm. Electrochemical investigations show that the electrochemical real surface area of electrode of the film is large, and the electrode of the film exhibits higher electro-catalytic activity in the reaction of methanol oxidation. The designated constant current of the film catalyst is 123.6 mA/cm2 in the mixture solution of H2SO4 and CH3OH at the concentration of 0.5 and 2.0 mol/L at 70℃, and the designated constant potential is only 0.306 V (vs SCE).Huajun ZHENG Chunan MA Jianguo HUANG Guohua LI 2005Journal of Materials Science & Technology2005,21,4:4

7On stress-forecasting strategy of earthquakes from stress buildup,stress shadow and stress transfer(SSS) based on numerical approach显示文摘Global Positioning System(GPS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR),used for monitoring crust deformation,are found to be very promising in earthquake prediction subject to stress-forecasting.However,it is recognized that unless we can give reasonable explanations of these curious precursory phenomena that continue to be seren-dipitously observed from time to time,such high technology of GPS or InSAR is difficult to be efficiently used.Therefore,a proper model revealing the relation between earthquake evolution and stress variation,such as the phenomena of stress buildup,stress shadow and stress transfer(SSS),is crucial to the GPS or InSAR based earthquake prediction.Here we address this question through a numerical approach of earthquake development using an intuitive physical model with a map-like configuration of discontinuous fault system.The simulation provides a physical basis for the principle of stress-forecasting of earthquakes based on SSS and for the application of GPS or InSAR in earthquake prediction.The observed SSS associated phenomena with images of stress distribution during the failure process can be continuously simulated.It is shown that the SSS are better indicators of earthquake precursors than that of seismic foreshocks,suggesting a predict-ability of earthquakes based on stress-forecasting strategy.Chunan Tang Tianhui Ma Xiaoli Ding 2009Earthquake Science2009,22,1:3

9Boundary-effect and scale-heating rate equivalence effect of cracking behavior in the rock models subjected to heating from the central borehole显示文摘Thermal cracking is broadly observed in rock engineering.A finite element numerical model which considers the heterogeneity of rock materials and the damage evolution process was used to simulate the thermal cracking behavior of square rock samples heated from the central borehole.The thermal and mechanical behaviors of two cases,i.e.,the case with large size but low heating rate and the case with small size but high heating rate were compared to study the crack initiation location in the models with different model sizes and heating rates.The simulated stress and temperature fields,as well as the failure pattern,were in good agreement with the experimental observations.The temperature and thermal stress distribution during the heating process in both cases indicated that high tensile stress was concentrated around the thermal gradient front,which resulted in the cracks initiating at the location with a certain distance away from the borehole.The results show that under the same heating rate,crack initiation location moves outwards with the increment of the model size then remains approximately at one location,which reflects the boundary-effect.Furthermore,the results indicate that the relative crack initiation locations in two cases are nearly the same if the ratio between the heating rate in two cases(Tx/Ty)nearly equal to the square of the inverse ratio of corresponding model side lengths((ay/ax)2).This concept is named the scale-heating rate equivalence effect in this study.It is beneficial for studying thermal cracking of rock both numerically and experimentally since the model size can be significantly decreased.HUANG Xin TANG ShiBin TANG ChunAn 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,5:2

11Rare Earth Application in Sealing Anodized Al-Based Metal Matrix Composites显示文摘A new method for corrosion protection of Al-based metal matrix composites (MMC) was developed using two-step process, which involves anodizing in H2SO4 solution and sealing in rare earth solution. Corrosion resistance of the treated surface was evaluated with polarization curves. The results showed that the effect of the protection using rare earth sealing is equivalent to that using chromate sealing for A16061/SiCp.
