2PRIMARY ANALYSIS ON GROUNDWATER,SOIL MOISTURE AND SALINITY IN FUKANG OASIS OF SOUTHERN JUNGGAR BASIN显示文摘Soil salinity is the most important factor affecting vegetation distribution,and the secondary salinization has affected the development of oasis agriculture.In arid areas the spatial variation of soil moisture and sa lt content is marked-ly affected by groundwater,irratio nal irrigation in artificial oasis.By analyzing the soil moisture,salt content and groundwa-ter table in different areas of old oasis,new oasis and desert in Fukang Oa sis,it is shown that topography and l and use are main factors affecting the change of groundwater table,the redistribution of soil moisture and salt cont ent.When undis-turbed by human,the groundwater tab le rises from mountain to belt of grou nd water spillage,the groundwater t able rises mightily in plain because of the artificial irrigation,and the secondary salinization of soil is very seriou s.In oasis the ground-water table raises compared with that in the natural desert at the same latitude.In old oasis of upper reaches o f river salt has not been concentrated too much in rhizosphere because this area is the belt of groundwater drainage,soil t exture is coarse,the groundwater table is very low,and the salt in soil is drained i nto the groundwater.The new oasis has been the areas of salt accumulation becau se of the artificial irrigation,the salt content in soil is higher than th at in old oasis,so some cultivated fields here had to be thrown out because of the serious s econdary salinization.GUFeng-xue ZHANGyuan-dong CHUYu SHIQing-dong PANXiao-ling 2002Chinese Geographical Science2002,12,4:5
3APOE and APOC1 gene polymorphisms are associated with cognitive impairment progression in Chinese patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Current evidence shows that apolipoprotein E(APOE), apolipoprotein CI(APOC1) and low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein(LRP) variations are related to late-onset Alzheimer's disease. However, it remains unclear if genetic polymorphisms in these genes are associated with cognitive decline in late-onset Alzheimer's disease patients. We performed a 30-month longitudinal cohort study to investigate the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and APOE, APOC1, and LRP. In this study, 78 Chinese Han patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease were recruited form Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. APOE, APOC1, and LRP genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms. The Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating Scale were used to assess patients' cognitive function. After a 30-month follow-up period, we found a significant reduction in Mini-Mental State Examination total score, a higher proportion of patients fulfilling cognitive impairment progression criteria, and a higher proportion of APOC1 H2 carriers in APOE ε4 carriers compared with non-carriers. In addition, the APOE ε4 allele frequency was significantly higher in the cognitive impairment progression group compared with the non-cognitive impairment progression group. 4Qualitative, quantitative and structural analysis of non-coding regions of classical swine fever virus genome显示文摘Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is the pathogen of the swine fever. Understanding of the replication and expression of its genome is the basis for research of the pathogenicity for CSFV and development of antiviral drug. The noncoding regions (NCRs) of CSFV are the main regulatory regions for replication and expression. Qualitative, quantitative and structural analysis of 3’ NCRs and 5’ NCRs was done in order to locate the regulatory region in the NCRs and to character the NCRs. The sites, conserved sequences and structural elements related to the initiation of replication and expression were extracted from 17 3’ NCRs and 56 5’ NCRs. Those cis-elements may be initial recognition sites for replication, binding sites for transcription factors of host cell and interacting sites for initiation of protein synthesis, based on which a mechanism for the replication and expression of CSFV was brought forth. 5Graphene-based all-optical modulators显示文摘All-optical devices,which are utilized to process optical signals without electro-optical conversion,play an essential role in the next generation ultrafast,ultralow power-consumption optical information processing systems.To satisfy the performance requirement,nonlinear optical materials that are associated with fast response,high nonlinearity,broad wavelength operation,low optical loss,low fabrication cost,and integration compatibility with optical components are required.Graphene is a promising candidate,particularly considering its electrically or optically tunable optical properties,ultrafast large nonlinearity,and high integration compatibility with various nanostructures.Thus far,three all-optical modulation systems utilize graphene,namely free-space modulators,fiber-based modulators,and on-chip modulators.This paper aims to provide a broad view of state-of-the-art researches on the graphene-based all-optical modulation systems.The performances of different devices are reviewed and compared to present a comprehensive analysis and perspective of graphene-based all-optical modulation devices.Chuyu ZHONG Junying LI Hongtao LIN 2020Frontiers of Optoelectronics2020,13,2:2
6Seasonal and population differences in migration of Whimbrels in the East Asian–Australasian Flyway显示文摘Background:Conserving migratory birds is challenging due to their reliance on multiple distant sites at different stages of their annual life cycle.The concept of“flyway”,which refers to all areas covered by the breeding,nonbreeding,and migrating of birds,provides a framework for international cooperation for conservation.In the same flyway,however,the migratory activities of the same species can differ substantially between seasons and populations.Clarifying the seasonal and population differences in migration is helpful for understanding migration ecology and for identifying conservation gaps.Methods:Using satellite‑tracking we tracked the migration of Whimbrels(Numenius phaeopus variegatus)from nonbreeding sites at Moreton Bay(MB)and Roebuck Bay(RB)in Australia in the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.Mantel tests were used to analyze the strength of migration connectivity between the nonbreeding and breeding sites of MB and RB populations.Welch’s t test was used to compare the migration activities between the two populations and between northward and southward migration.Results:During northward migration,migration distance and duration were longer for the MB population than for the RB population.The distance and duration of the first leg flight during northward migration were longer for the MB population than for the RB population,suggesting that MB individuals deposited more fuel before departing from nonbreeding sites to support their longer nonstop flight.The RB population exhibited weaker migration connectivity(breeding sites dispersing over a range of 60 longitudes)than the MB population(breeding sites concentrating in a range of 5 longitudes in Far Eastern Russia).Compared with MB population,RB population was more dependent on the stopover sites in the Yellow Sea and the coastal regions in China,where tidal habitat has suffered dramatic loss.However,RB population increased while MB population decreased over the past decades,suggesting that loss of tidal habitat at stopover sites had less impact on the Whimbrel populations,which can use diverse habitat types.Different trends between the populations might be due to the different degrees of hunting pressure in their breeding grounds.Conclusions:This study highlights that conservation measures can be improved by understanding the full annual life cycle of movements of multiple populations of Whimbrels and probably other migratory birds.Fenliang Kuang Jonathan TColeman Chris JHassell Kar‑Sin KLeung Grace Maglio Wanjuan Ke Chuyu Cheng Jiayuan Zhao Zhengwang Zhang Zhijun Ma 2020Avian Research2020,11,3:2

9Construction of cDNA library, nucleotide sequence and analysis of entire genome of classical swine fever virus strain Shimen显示文摘According to the previously published CSFV sequences, 18 pairs of primers have been designed and synthesized, which cover the entire genome of CSFV strain Shimen. Each cDNA fragment has been amplified by RT-PCR from the anticoagulant blood of strain Shimen infected pig. The PCR products have been cloned respectively and sequenced. Results show that the cDNA library of strain Shimen and its nucleotide sequence have been obtained. The genomic RNA of strain Shimen is 12 298 nucleotides in length, containing a 5’ and a 3’ noncoding region 373 and 231 nt long respectively. The center of genome is a single large open reading frame of 11 697 nt which encodes a polyprotein of 3 898 amino acids. 14Construction of cytopathic PK-15 cell model of classical swine fever virus显示文摘No cytopathic effect (CPE) can be observed on classical swine fever virus (CSFV) infected cell culture in vitro. This brings an obstacle to the researches on reciprocity between CSFV and host cells. Based on the construction of full-length genomic infectious Cdna clone of Chinese CSFV standard virulent Shimen strain, partial deletion is intro- duced into genomic Cdna to obtain a 7.5 kb subgenomic Cdna. A new subgenomic CSFV is derived from transfection with the subgenomic Cdna on PK-15 cells pre-infected by CSFV Shimen virus. Typical CPE induced by this subgenomic virus is observed on PK-15 cells. Coexistence of wild- type and subgenomic virus in cytopathic cell culture is dem- onstrated by RT-PCR detection in cytopathic cells. 16Path Analysis of Energy-Saving Technology in Yangtze River Basin Based on Multi-Objective and Multi-Parameter Optimisation显示文摘The Yangtze River Basin in China is characterised by hot-and cold-humid climates in summer and winter, respectively. Thus, increased demand for heating and cooling energy according to the season, as well as poor indoor thermal comfort, are inevitable. To overcome this problem, this study focused on the influence of passive design and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment performance on the energy performance of residential buildings, and explored potential energy-saving technology paths involving passive design and improved coefficient of performance through a multi-objective and multi-parameter optimisation technique. A large-scale questionnaire survey covering a typical city was first conducted to identify family lifestyle patterns regarding time spent at home, family type, air conditioner use habits, indoor thermal comfort, etc. Then, the actual heating and cooling energy consumption and information of model building were determined for this region. Subsequently, the design parameters of an individual building were simulated using Energyplus to investigate the cooling and heating energy consumption for a typical residential building with an air conditioner. The results indicated an improvement of approximately 30% in energy efficiency through optimisation of the external-wall insulation thickness and the external-window and shading performance, and through use of appropriate ventilation technology. Thus, a multi-objective and multi-parameter optimisation model was developed to achieve comprehensive optimisation of several design parameters. Experimental results showed that comprehensive optimisation could not only reduce cooling and heating energy consumption, but also improve the thermal comfort level achieved with a non-artificial cooling and heating source. Finally, three energy-saving technology paths were formulated to achieve a balance between indoor thermal comfort improvement and the target energy efficiency(20 kWh/(m2?a)).
