| 1 | Anthropogenic emission inventories in China:a review显示文摘The development of reliable anthropogenic emission inventories is essential for both understanding the sources of air pollution and designing effective air-pollution-control measures in China. However, it is challenging to quantify emissions in China accurately, given the variety of contributing sources, the complexity of the technology mix and the lack of reliable measurements. Over the last two decades,tremendous efforts have been made to improve the accuracy of emission inventories, and significant improvements have been realized. More reliable statistics and survey-based data have been used to reduce the uncertainties in activity rates and technology distributions. Local emission factors and source profiles covering various sources have been measured and reported. Based on these local databases, improved emission inventory models have been developed for power plants, large industrial plants and the residential,transportation and agricultural sectors. In this paper, we review the progress that has been made in developing inventories of anthropogenic emissions in China. We first highlight the major updates that have been made to emission inventory models and the underlying data by source category. We then summarize the sector-based estimates of emissions of different species contained in current inventories. The progress that has been made in the development of model-ready emissions is also presented. | 2 | Vehicular volatile organic compounds losses due to refueling and diurnal process in China: 2010–2050显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) are crucial to control air pollution in major Chinese cities since VOCs are the dominant factor influencing ambient ozone level, and also an important precursor of secondary organic aerosols. Vehicular evaporative emissions have become a major and growing source of VOC emissions in China. This study consists of lab tests, technology evaluation, emissions modeling, policy projections and cost-benefit analysis to draw a roadmap for China for controlling vehicular evaporative emissions. The analysis suggests that evaporative VOC emissions from China's light-duty gasoline vehicles were approximately 185,000 ton in 2010 and would peak at 1,200,000 ton in 2040 without control. The current control strategy implemented in China, as shown in business as usual(BAU) scenario, will barely reduce the long-term growth in emissions. Even if Stage II gasoline station vapor control policies were extended national wide(BAU + extended Stage II), there would still be over 400,000 ton fuel loss in 2050. In contrast, the implementation of on-board refueling vapor recovery(ORVR) on new cars could reduce 97.5% of evaporative VOCs by 2050(BAU + ORVR/BAU + delayed ORVR). According to the results, a combined Stage II and ORVR program is a comprehensive solution that provides both short-term and long-term benefits. | 3 | Propofol Attenuates a-Synuclein Aggregation and Neuronal Damage in a Mouse Model of Ischemic Stroke显示文摘a-Synuclein is a soluble monomer abundant in the central nervous system. Aggregates of a-synuclein,consisting of higher-level oligomers and insoluble fibrils,have been observed in many chronic neurological diseases and are implicated in neurotoxicity and neurodegeneration.a-Synuclein has recently been shown to aggregate following acute ischemic stroke, exacerbating neuronal damage.Propofol is an intravenous anesthetic that is commonly used during intravascular embolectomy following acute ischemic stroke. While propofol has demonstrated neuroprotective properties following brain injury, the mechanism of protection in the setting of ischemic stroke is unclear. In this study, propofol administration significantly reduced the neurotoxic aggregation of a-synuclein, decreased the infarct area, and attenuated the neurological deficits after ischemic stroke in a mouse model. | 5 | Solar flare forecasting using learning vector quantity and unsupervised clustering techniques显示文摘In this paper, a combined method of unsupervised clustering and learning vector quantity (LVQ) is presented to forecast the occurrence of solar flare. Three magnetic parameters including the maximum horizontal gradient, the length of the neutral line, and the number of singular points are extracted from SOHO/MDI longitudinal magnetograms as measures. Based on these pa- rameters, the sliding-window method is used to form the sequential data by adding three days evolutionary information. Con- sidering the imbalanced problem in dataset, the K-means clustering, as an unsupervised clustering algorithm, is used to convert imbalanced data to balanced ones. Finally, the learning vector quantity is employed to predict the flares level within 48 hours. | 10 | A new pathotype characterization of Daxing and Huangyuan populations of cereal cyst nematode(Heterodera avenae) in China显示文摘The cereal cyst nematode(CCN, Heteroder aavenae) causes serious yield loss on cereal crops, especially wheat, worldwide. Daxing population in Beijing City and Huangyuan population in Qinghai Province, China, are two CCN populations. In this study, the CCN pathotypes of Daxing and Huangyuan populations were characterized by tests on 23 standard 'International Test Assortment' with the local species Wenmai 19 as the susceptible control. Tested materials were grouped by three nematode populations' virulence on resistant genes(Rha1, Rha2, Rha3, Cre1) and nonresistant genes, varieties and lines. Both Daxing and Huangyuan populations were avirulent to Ortolan(Ha1). Barley cvs. Ortolan, Siri, Morocco, Bajo Aragon 1-1, and Martin 403-2 were all resistant to both populations. Cultivars Herta, Harlan 43 and wheat Iskamish-K-2-light were all susceptible to Huangyuan population, all of them, however, were resistant to Daxing population. The other five oats were all resistant to the two tested CCN populations. Except Iskamisch K-2-light, all the other wheat cultivars(Capa, Loros×Koga, AUS 10894, and Psathias) were susceptible to Daxing population. Growing demand from the user community for a small beam and related experimental methods have motivated upgrades of the devices in the endstation.Minibeam modes have already been developed for operation. A self-integrated diffractometer reduces the sphere of confusion of the rotatory axis to 1μm. The new diffractometer is equipped with an upgraded on-axis viewing system that can improve the resolving power. Additionally,the area detector was also upgraded to the newest generation of detectors, the EIGER X 16 M, which can collect data at 133 Hz. After these upgrades, the endstation became virtually new. | 13 | Structure instability forecasting and analysis of giant rock pillars in steeply dipping thick coal seams显示文摘Structure stability analysis of rock masses is essential for forecasting catastrophic structure failure in coal seam mining. Steeply dipping thick coal seams(SDTCS) are common in the Urumqi coalfield, and some dynamical hazards such as roof collapse and mining-induced seismicity occur frequently in the coal mines. The cause of these events is mainly structure instability in giant rock pillars sandwiched between SDTCS. Developing methods to predict these events is important for safe mining in such a complex environment. This study focuses on understanding the structural mechanics model of a giant rock pillar and presents a viewpoint of the stability of a trend sphenoid fractured beam(TSFB). Some stability index parameters such as failure surface dips were measured, and most dips were observed to be between 46° and 51°. We used a digital panoramic borehole monitoring system to measure the TSFB's height(ΔH), which varied from 56.37 to 60.50 m. Next, FLAC3 D was used to model the distribution and evolution of vertical displacement in the giant rock pillars; the results confirmed the existence of a TSFB structure. Finally, we investigated the acoustic emission(AE) energy accumulation rate and observed that the rate commonly ranged from 20 to 40 k J/min. The AE energy accumulation rate could be used to anticipate impeding seismic events related to structure failure. | 14 | Could neoadjuvant chemotherapy increase postoperative complication risk of laparoscopic total gastrectomy? A monoinstitutional propensity score-matched study in China显示文摘The potential survival benefit of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NC)in patients with advanced gastric cancer has been widely recognized.With the development of minimally invasive surgery,which is represented by laparoscopy,the effect of NC on the safety of laparoscopic gastrectomy remains to be further explored.AIM To compare the short-term outcomes of laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG)after NC(NC-LTG)with LTG alone.METHODS A total of 92 patients who underwent NC-LTG and 381 patients who received LTG alone at the Chinese PLA General Hospital between September 2015 and September 2020 were retrospectively included in our study.We used propensityscore matching(PSM)to balance baseline bias.After 1:1 PSM,73 patients were included in each group with no statistically significant difference in baseline characteristics.RESULTS The NC-LTG group exhibited a longer operation time(244.10±48.13 min vs 225.74±45.33 min,P=0.019)and increased intraoperative blood loss[150(100-300)mL vs 100(100-200)mL,P=0.011]compared to the LTG group.The 30-d postoperative morbidity of the NC-LTG group was 20.5%(15/73),and that of the LTG group was 13.7%(10/73).There were no significant differences in 30-d severe complication rates or anastomotic leakage rates.Subgroup analysis showed that the patients with pTNM(pathological tumor-node-metastasis classification)T0N0-II in the NC-LTG group underwent a longer operation than the LTG group,while no significant difference was found in any perioperative index for the pTNM III patients.A multivariate analysis showed that an operation time longer than 240 min was an independent risk factor(odds ratio=3.021,95%confidence interval:1.160-7.868,P=0.024),while NC was not an independent risk factor for postoperative complications in LTG.CONCLUSION Despite a longer operation time and more blood loss after NC-LTG,which indicate surgical difficulty,NC-LTG exhibits acceptable short-term outcomes compared to LTG,suggesting the safety and feasibility of NC-LTG. | Hao Cui Jian-Xin Cui Yu-Ning Wang Bo Cao Huan Deng Ke-Cheng Zhang Tian-Yu Xie Wen-Quan Liang Yi Liu Lin Chen Bo Wei | 2021 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2021,13,5: | 5 |
| 15 | The breeding biology of Red-Whiskered Bulbul(Pycnonotus jocosus) in Xishuangbanna, southwest China显示文摘To fill the gap in breeding biology information about the Red-Whiskered Bulbul(Pycnonotus jocosus), in2013, we studied the breeding biology of this species in Xishuangbanna, southwest China. The breeding began from February and continued until early August. The breeding strategy of P. jocosus was more flexible and their nests were only built in cultivated landscapes, whereas, no nest building in native tropical rain forest was found. Small open cup nests were built on 50 different plant species, and at heights ranging from 2.1±0.6 m above the ground(n=102). The mean clutch size was 2.53±0.51 eggs(n=40) and the mean egg mass was 2.81±0.25 g(n=60). The average incubation period was 11.1±0.5days(n=14), and the average nestling period was11.0±0.8 days(n=31). The overall nest success was34.22%.The hatching and fledging showed either asynchrony or synchrony. Invertebrate food decreased with nestling age, whereas, plant food increased with nestling age. Moreover, distinct parental roles of the parents in nestling period were found. Compared with other passerine species, P.jocosus spent less time in incubating(58%). | 20 | Scalable salt-templated directed synthesis of high-quality MoS_(2) nanosheets powders towards energetic and environmental applications显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)have emerged as perfect platforms for developing applications in nano-electronics,catalysis,energy storage and environmental-related fields due to their superior properties.However,the low-cost,batch production of high-quality 2D TMDCs remains a huge challenge with the existing synthetic strategies.Herein,we present a scalable chemical vapor deposition(CVD)approach for the batch production of high-quality MoS_(2) nanosheet powders,by using naturally abundant,water-soluble and recyclable NaCl crystal powders as templates.The high-quality MoS_(2) nanosheets powders are achieved by a facile water dissolution-filtration process,by virtue of the excellent dispersibility of the as-grown products in water.The internal mechanism for the scalable synthesis strategy is explored.The applications of the MoS_(2) nanosheets powders are also demonstrated as catalysts or adsorbents in hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and organic dyes adsorption,respectively.This work should hereby pave ways for the mass production and application of powdery TMDCs in energetic and environmental related fields. | Lijie Zhu Pengfei Yang Yahuan Huan Shuangyuan Pan Zhaoqian Zhang Fangfang Cui Yuping Shi Shaolong Jiang Chunyu Xie Min Hong Jiatian Fu Jingyi Hu Yanfeng Zhang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,11: | 4 |
