| 1 | Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices. | Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng | 2016 | Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1: | 36 |
| 2 | Kinetic Adsorption of Ammonium Nitrogen by Substrate Materials for Constructed Wetlands显示文摘Constructed wetlands (CWs) are engineered systems that utilize natural systems including wetland vegetations,soils,and their associated microbial assemblages to assist in treating wastewater.The kinetic adsorption of ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) by CW substrate materials such as blast furnace slag (BFS),zeolite,ceramsite,vermiculite,gravel,paddy soil,red soil,and turf,was investigated using batch experiments and kinetic adsorption isotherms.Both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms could adequately predict the NH4+-N adsorption process.The maximum adsorption capacities of NH4+-N,estimated from the Langmuir isotherm,ranked as:zeolite (33 333.33 mg kg-1) > turf (29 274.01 mg kg-1) > BFS (5 000 mg kg-1) > vermiculite (3 333.33 mg kg-1) > gravel (769.23 mg kg-1) > paddy soil (588.24 mg kg-1) > red soil (555.56 mg kg-1) > ceramsite (107.53 mg kg-1).Some properties of the substrate materials,including bulk density,specific gravity,hydraulic conductivity,uniformity coefficient (K60),curvature coefficient (Cc),organic matter,pH,exchangeable (or active) Cu,Fe,Zn and Mn,total Cu,and Fe,Mn,Zn,Cd,Pb and Ca,had negative correlations with NH4+-N adsorption.Other properties of the substrate materials like particle diameter values of D10,D30 and D60 (the diameters of particle sizes of a substrate material at which 10%,30% and 60%,respectively,of the particles pass through the sieve based on the accumulative frequency),cation exchange capacity (CEC),exchangeable (or active) Ca and Mg,and total K and Mg had positive correlations with NH4+-N adsorption.In addition,active K and Na as well as the total Na had significant positive correlations with NH4+-N adsorption.This information would be useful for selection of suitable substrate materials for CWs. | ZHU Wen-Ling CUI Li-Hua OUYANG Ying LONG Cui-Fen TANG Xiao-Dan | 2011 | Pedosphere2011,21,4: | 21 |

| 5 | Novel SNP markers on ginsenosides biosynthesis functional gene for authentication of ginseng herbs and commercial products显示文摘Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius have similar bioactive components and morphological characteristics, but they are known to have different medicinal values, high-sensitive and accurate method is expected to identify the sources of ginseng products and evaluate the quality, but with a huge challenge. Our established UHPLC-TOF/MS method coupled with orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) model based on 18 ginsenosides was applied to discriminate the sources of raw medicinal materials in ginseng products, and nested PCR strategy was used to discover 6 novel single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)sites in functional dammarenediol synthase(DS) gene for genetic authentication of P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius for the first time.OPLS-DA model could identify the sources of raw ginseng materials are real or not. SNP markers were applied to identify ginseng fresh samples as well as commercial products, and proved to be successful. This established molecular method can tell exact source information of adulterants, and it was highly sensitive and specific even when total DNA amount was only 0.1 ng and the adulteration was as low as 1%. | 6 | Therapeutic effects of four strains of probiotics on experimental colitis in mice显示文摘AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effects of four strains of probiotics(E.feacalis,L.acidophilus,C.butyricum and B.adolescentis) on dextran sulphate sodium(DSS)-induced experimental colitis in Balb/c mice.METHODS:Eighty Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 8 groups.Weight-loss,fecal character,fecal occult blood and hematochezia were recorded daily.Disease activity index(DAI) scores were also evaluated everyday.Length of colon was measured and histological scores were evaluated on the 13th day.Myeloperoxidase(MPO) activity was detected.Interleukin-1(IL-1) and IL-4 expression was detected by ELISA and RT-PCR.RESULTS:The four strains of probiotics relieved the inflammatory condition of DSS-induced experimental colitis in mice.Weight loss was slowed down in all probiotics-treated mice.Even weight gain was observed by the end of probiotics treatment.The DAI and histological scores of probiotics-treated mice were lower than those of mice in the control group(1.9 ± 0.2 vs 8.6 ± 0.4,P < 0.05 for E.faecalis).The length of colon of probiotics-treated mice was longer than that of mice in the control group(10.3 ± 0.34 vs 8.65 ± 0.77,P < 0.05 for E.faecalis).The four strains of probiotics decreased the MP activity and the IL-1 expression,but increased the IL-4 expression.E.faecalis had a better effect on DSS-induced experimental colitis in mice than the other three strains.CONCLUSION:The four strains of probiotics have beneficial effects on experimental colitis in mice.E.faecalis has a better effect on DSS-induced experimental colitis in mice than the other three strains.Supplement of probiotics provides a new therapy for UC. | Lin-Lin Chen Xue-Hong Wang Yi Cui Guang-Hui Lian Jie Zhang Chun-Hui Ouyang Fang-Gen Lu | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,3: | 5 |

The results show that the grain size increases with heating temperature and holding time increasing. Rapid β grain growth of the alloy takes place at the temperature of over 1140 ℃. The grain growth kinetics for the alloy follows the classical isothermal grain growth law.The growth time exponent(n) of 0.5651 and activation energy(Q) of 129.6 kJ mol-1 are determined. | 8 | The modified bilobed flap for reconstructing sacral decubitus ulcers显示文摘Background:Sacral pressure ulcers are associated with high morbidity and,in some cases,result in mortality from severe sepsis.Local flaps are frequently used for reconstruction of stage III and IV pressure ulcers.An ideal flap should be simple to design,have a reliable vascular supply and minimal donor site morbidity.Our study evaluates the use of a bilobed flap based on the superficial branch of the superior gluteal artery or the posterior branch of the fourth lumbar artery to reconstruct the sacral pressure ulcer.Case presentation:We performed a retrospective analysis of paraplegic patients with sacral pressure ulcers treated with our bilobed flaps from January 2015 to December 2019.A description of our management,operative protocol,outcome and complications is outlined.Seven paraplegic patients(6 male,1 female;average age 53.1 years)with sacral pressure ulcers were treated with our bilobed flap based on the superficial branch of the superior gluteal artery or the posterior branch of the fourth lumbar artery.The average size of the pressure ulcers was 7×5 cm(range 6.2×4.5 cm to 11×10 cm).All 7 flaps survived.The patients were followed up for 12 months without significant complications,such as flap necrosis or recurrence.Conclusions:The superficial branch of the superior gluteal artery or the posterior branch of the fourth lumbar artery reliably supplies the bilobed flap.The superior cluneal nerve can be included in the design.The technique is simple and reliable.It should be included in the reconstructive algorithm for the management of sacral pressure ulcers. | Xiangong Jiao Chunxiao Cui Sally Kiu-Huen Ng Zhangjia Jiang Chihui Tu Jiemin Zhou Xiandong Lu Xianwen Ouyang Tong Luo Ke Li Yixin Zhang | 2020 | Burns & Trauma2020,8,1: | 4 |

| 10 | Discovery of differential sequences for improving breeding and yield of cultivated Ophiocordyceps sinensis through ITS sequencing and phylogenetic analysis显示文摘To accelerate the breeding process of cultivated Ophiocordyceps sinensis and increase its yield,it is important to identify molecular fingerprint of dominant O.sinensis.In the present study,we collected 3 batches of industrially cultivated O.sinensis product with higher yield than the others and compared their internal transcribed spacer(ITS)sequences with the wild and the reported.The ITS sequence was obtained by bidirectional sequencing and analyzed with molecular systematics as a DNA barcode for rapid and accurate identification of wild and cultivated O.sinensis collected.The ITS sequences of O.sinensis with detailed collection loci on NCBI were downloaded to construct a phylogenetic tree together with the sequences obtained from the present study by using neighbor-joining method based on their evolution relationship.The information on collection loci was analyzed with ArcGIS 10.2 to demonstrate the geographic distribution of these samples and thus to determine the origin of the dominant samples.The results showed that all wild and cultivated samples were identified as O.sinensis and all sequences were divided into seven phylogenetic groups in the tree.Those groups were precisely distributed on the map and the process of their system evolution was clearly presented.The three cultivated samples were clustered into two dominant groups,showing the correlation between the industrially cultivated samples and the dominant wild samples,which can provide references for its optimized breeding in the future. | CHENG Qi-Qing CHENG Chun-Song OUYANG Yue LAO Chi-Chou CUI Hao XIAN Yu JIANG Zhi-Hong LI Wen-Jia ZHOU Hua | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2018,16,10: | 4 |
| 11 | Role of slip and {10-12} twin on the crystal plasticity in Mg-RE alloy during deformation process at room temperature显示文摘The deformation mechanism of slips and twins has a considerable influence on the plasticity of magnesium alloys. However, the roles of slips and twins in the room-temperature deformation of Mg-rare earth(Mg-RE) alloys with high contents of rare earth elements is rarely investigated. Here, the microstructural evolution and deformation mechanism of an aged Mg-5 Y-2 Nd-3 Sm-0.5 Zr alloy during uniaxial compression at room temperature were systematically investigated using in-situ electron-backscattered diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that in the early stage of deformation, the Mg-RE alloy was mainly controlled by the slip of dislocations in the basal plane and the coordinated c-axis strain of the {10-12} twin. With an increase in the strain, the grain orientation became more suitable for the initiation of pyramidal Ⅱ dislocations in the later stage of deformation;these dominated the deformation mechanism. In the twin evolution of the Mg-RE alloy, there were three types of twin-twin interaction behaviors:(i) single twin variant 'parallel' structure,(ii) single twin variant 'cross' structure, and(iii) multi twin variant 'cross' structure. | 12 | Wetland Economic Valuation Approaches and Prospects in China显示文摘Ecosystem services valuation seeks to increase the social relevance of ecosystem characteristics, the underlying biological mechanisms that support services, by making the contribution of ecosystems to human well-being explicit. Economic valuation can help management by clarifying the full range of benefits and costs of proposed management actions. In the past two decades, economic valuation of wetland ecosystem services has become one of the most significant scientific priorities for wetland protection. In this paper, we provide an overview of ecosystem services, and summarize the main interdisciplinary approaches to measure and value wetland ecosystem services. We identified four main methodological gaps preventing progress on wetland valuation of ecosystem services in China, which are: 1) confusion on terminology like intermediate and final ecosystem services, 2) lack of ecological production functions to link ecosystem characteristics to final ecosystem services, 3) static valuation making it difficult to evaluate the trade-offs and synergies among ecosystem services, and 4) lack of clear guidance on relating ecological compensation programs to conservation targets. Overcoming these gaps is important to inform wetland compensation mechanisms and conservation policies. | 19 | A case of rapid growing colonic NK/T cell lymphoma complicated by Crohn's disease显示文摘A 37-year-old man developed abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea 11 months before admission. The colonoscopy revealed multifocal ulcers in the colon. Histology showed active chronic inflammation. Although anti-tuberculosis medication was effective, his symptoms repeated 2 months later. The subsequent colonoscopy revealed more extensive irregular ulcers than before, and he was clinically suspected with intestinal malignant lymphoma. He underwent subtotal colectomy and was histologically suggested Crohn's disease, then 5-aminosalicylic and a combination of prednisone and azathioprine were administered in succession postoperatively, but they achieved minimal relief of symptoms for a period of 7 months. The third colonoscopy showed a large irregular ulcer in the ileocolon stomas, and primary colonic NK/T cell lymphoma was diagnosed through histological and immunophenotypic studies.
