1Anthropogenic emission inventories in China:a review显示文摘The development of reliable anthropogenic emission inventories is essential for both understanding the sources of air pollution and designing effective air-pollution-control measures in China. However, it is challenging to quantify emissions in China accurately, given the variety of contributing sources, the complexity of the technology mix and the lack of reliable measurements. Over the last two decades,tremendous efforts have been made to improve the accuracy of emission inventories, and significant improvements have been realized. More reliable statistics and survey-based data have been used to reduce the uncertainties in activity rates and technology distributions. Local emission factors and source profiles covering various sources have been measured and reported. Based on these local databases, improved emission inventory models have been developed for power plants, large industrial plants and the residential,transportation and agricultural sectors. In this paper, we review the progress that has been made in developing inventories of anthropogenic emissions in China. We first highlight the major updates that have been made to emission inventory models and the underlying data by source category. We then summarize the sector-based estimates of emissions of different species contained in current inventories. The progress that has been made in the development of model-ready emissions is also presented. 2Enhanced secondary pollution offset reduction of primary emissions during COVID-19 lockdown in China显示文摘To control the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus(COVID-19),China imposed nationwide restrictions on the movement of its population(lockdown)after the Chinese New Year of 2020,leading to large reductions in economic activities and associated emissions.Despite such large decreases in primary pollution,there were nonetheless several periods of heavy haze pollution in eastern China,raising questions about the well-established relationship between human activities and air quality.Here,using comprehensive measurements and modeling,we show that the haze during the COVID lockdown was driven by enhancements of secondary pollution.In particular,large decreases in NOx emissions from transportation increased ozone and nighttime NO_(3)radical formation,and these increases in atmospheric oxidizing capacity in turn facilitated the formation of secondary particulate matter.Our results,afforded by the tragic natural experiment of the COVID-19 pandemic,indicate that haze mitigation depends upon a coordinated and balanced strategy for controlling multiple pollutants.Xin Huang Aijun Ding Jian Gao Bo Zheng Derong Zhou Ximeng Qi Rong Tang Jiaping Wang Chuanhua Ren Wei Nie Xuguang Chi Zheng Xu Liangduo Chen Yuanyuan Li Fei Che Nini Pang Haikun Wang Dan Tong Wei Qin Wei Cheng Weijing Liu Qingyan Fu Baoxian Liu Fahe Chai Steven JDavis Qiang Zhang Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:47
3Vegetation cover change and the driving factors over northwest China显示文摘In this paper the spatio-temporal variation of vegetation cover in northwest China during the period of 1982-2006 and its driving factors were analyzed using GIMMS/NDVI data. The annual average NDVI was increased with a rate of 0.0005/a in northwest China and there was an obvious difference between regions. The trend line slopes of NDVI were higher than 0.0005 in the Tianshan Moutains and Altay Mountains of Xinjiang,the Qilian Mountains of Gansu and the eastern part of Qinghai,which indicated the vegetation cover was significantly increased in these areas. The trend line slopes of NDVI were lower than 0.0005 in the southern region of Qinghai,the border regions of Shaanxi and Ningxia,the parts of Gansu and Tarim Basin,Turpan and Tuoli in Xinjiang,which indicated the vegetation cover was declined in these areas. The NDVI of woodland,grassland and cultivated land had an ascending tendency during the study period. The study shows that the vegetation cover change was caused by both natural factors and human activities in northwest China. The natural vegetation change,such as forests was influenced by climate change,while human activities were the main reason to the change of planting vegetation. The changes of vegetation covers for different elevations,slopes and slope aspects were quite different. When the elevation is exceeded to 4,000 m,the NDVI increasing trend was very low;the NDVI at the slope of less than 25° was increased by the ecological construction;the variation of NDVI on sunny slope was stronger than that on shady slope. The temperature rose significantly in recent 25 years in northwest China by an average rate of 0.67oC/10a,and precipitation increased by an average rate of 8.15 mm/10a after 1986. There was positive correlation between vegetation cover and temperature and annual precipitation changes. Rising temperature increased the evaporation and drought of soils,which is not conducive to plant growth,and the irrigation in agricultural areas reduced the correlation between agricultural vegetation NDVI and precipitation. 4Pathways of China's PM;air quality 2015–2060 in the context of carbon neutrality显示文摘Clean air policies in China have substantially reduced particulate matter(PM;) air pollution in recent years,primarily by curbing end-of-pipe emissions.However,reaching the level of the World Health Organization(WHO) guidelines may instead depend upon the air quality co-benefits of ambitious climate action.Here,we assess pathways of Chinese PM;air quality from 2015 to 2060 under a combination of scenarios that link global and Chinese climate mitigation pathways(i.e.global 2℃-and 1.5℃-pathways,National Determined Contributions(NDC) pledges and carbon neutrality goals) to local clean air policies.We find that China can achieve both its near-term climate goals(peak emissions) and PM;air quality annual standard(35 μg/m;) by 2030 by fulfilling its NDC pledges and continuing air pollution control policies.However,the benefits of end-of-pipe control reductions are mostly exhausted by 2030,and reducing PM;exposure of the majority of the Chinese population to below 10 μg/m;by 2060 will likely require more ambitious climate mitigation efforts such as China’ s carbon neutrality goals and global1.5℃-pathways.Our results thus highlight that China’s carbon neutrality goals will play a critical role in reducing air pollution exposure to the level of the WHO guidelines and protecting public health.Jing Cheng Dan Tong Qiang Zhang Yang Liu Yu Lei Gang Yan Liu Yan Sha Yu Ryna Yiyun Cui Leon Clarke Guannan Geng Bo Zheng Xiaoye Zhang Steven JDavis Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,12:23
5Expansion and differentiation of human hepatocyte-derived liver progenitor-like cells and their use for the study of hepatotropic pathogens显示文摘The study of pathophysiological mecha nisms in huma n liver disease has bee n constrained by the in ability to expa nd primary hepatocytes in vitro while maintaining proliferative capacity and metabolic function. We and others have previously shown that mouse mature hepatocytes can be con verted to liver progenitor-like cells in vitro with defined chemical factors. Here we describe a protocol achieving efficient conversion of human primary hepatocytes into liver progenitor-like cells (HepLPCs) through delivery of developmentally relevant cues, including NAD +-dependent deacetylase SIRT1 signaling. These HepLPCs could be expanded sign ifica ntly duri ng in vitro passage. The expa nded cells can readily be con verted back into metabolically functional hepatocytes in vitro and upon tran splantati on in vivo. Under three-dime nsional culture conditions, differentiated cells gen erated from HepLPCs regai ned the ability to support infect io n or reactivatio n of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Our work dem on strates the utility of the con versi on betwee n hepatocyte and liver proge nitor-like cells for studying HBV biology and an tiviral therapies. 6Rapid improvement of PM2.5 pollution and associated health benefits in China during 2013–2017显示文摘Exposure to fine particulate matter(PM2.5)is known to harm public health.In China,after implementation of aggressive emissions control measures under the Action Plan of Air Pollution Prevention and Control(2013-2017),air quality has significantly improved.In this work,we investigated changes in PM2.5 exposure and the associated health impacts in China for the period 2013-2017.We used an optimal estimator of PM2.5 combining in-situ observations,satellite measurements,and simulations from a chemical transport model to derive the spatial and temporal variations in PM2.5 exposure,and then used welldeveloped exposure-response functions to estimate the premature deaths attributable to PM2.5 exposure.We found that national population-weighed annual mean PM2.5 concentrations decreased from 67.4μgm-3 in 2013 to 45.5μgm-3 in 2017(32%reduction).This rapid decrease in PM2.5 pollution led to a 14%reduction in premature deaths due to long-term exposure.We estimated that,during 2013-2017,the premature deaths attributable to long-term PM2.5 exposure decreased from 1.2 million(95%CI:1.0,1.3;fraction of total mortality:13%)in 2013 to 1.0 million(95%CI:0.9,1.2;10%)in 2017.Despite the rapid decrease in annual mean PM2.5 concentrations,health benefits associated with reduced long-term exposure were limited,because for many cities,the PM2.5 levels remain at the portion where the exposure-response function is less steeper than that at the lowconcentration end.We also found that the deaths associated with acute exposure decreased by 61%during 2013-2017 due to rapid reduction in the number of heavily polluted days.Our results confirm that clean air policies in China have mitigated the air pollution crisis;however,continuous emissions reduction efforts are required to protect citizens from air pollution.Tao XUE Jun LIU Qiang ZHANG Guannan GENG Yixuan ZHENG Dan TONG Zhu LIU Dabo GUAN Yu BO Tong ZHU Kebin HE Jiming HAO 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:17

8Inhibiting endogenous tissue plasminogen activator enhanced neuronal apoptosis and axonal injury after traumatic brain injury显示文摘Tissue plasminogen activator is usually used for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke,but the role of endogenous tissue plasminogen activator in traumatic brain injury has been rarely reported.A rat model of traumatic brain injury was established by weight-drop method.The tissue plasminogen activator inhibitor neuroserpin(5μL,0.25 mg/mL)was injected into the lateral ventricle.Neurological function was assessed by neurological severity score.Neuronal and axonal injuries were assessed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and Bielschowsky silver staining.Protein level of endogenous tissue plasminogen activator was analyzed by western blot assay.Apoptotic marker cleaved caspase-3,neuronal marker neurofilament light chain,astrocyte marker glial fibrillary acidic protein and microglial marker Iba-1 were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining.Apoptotic cell types were detected by immunofluorescence double labeling.Apoptotic cells in the damaged cortex were detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated digoxigenin-dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling staining.Degenerating neurons in the damaged cortex were detected by Fluoro-Jade B staining.Expression of tissue plasminogen activator was increased at 6 hours,and peaked at 3 days after traumatic brain injury.Neuronal apoptosis and axonal injury were detected after traumatic brain injury.Moreover,neuroserpin enhanced neuronal apoptosis,neuronal injury and axonal injury,and activated microglia and astrocytes.Neuroserpin further deteriorated neurobehavioral function in rats with traumatic brain injury.Our findings confirm that inhibition of endogenous tissue plasminogen activator aggravates neuronal apoptosis and axonal injury after traumatic brain injury,and activates microglia and astrocytes.This study was approved by the Biomedical Ethics Committee of Animal Experiments of Shaanxi Province of China in June 2015.Jun-Jie Zhao Zun-Wei Liu Bo Wang Ting-Qin Huang Dan Guo Yong-Lin Zhao Jin-Ning Song 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,4:10
9Relationship between Maternal PBMC HBV cccDNA and HBV Serological Markers and its Effect on HBV Intrauterine Transmission显示文摘Objective To investigate the relationship between maternal peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) hepatitis B virus(HBV) covalenty closed circular deoxyribonucleic acid(cccDNA) and other HBV serological markers and its effects on HBV intrauterine transmission. Methods We enrolled 290 newborns and their hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) positive mothers. HBV cccDNA in PBMC and HBV DNA in serum were detected by a real‐time PCR‐TaqM an probe while HBV serological markers were detected with an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Results There was a positive correlation between the levels of PBMC HBV cccD NA and serum HBV DNA and HBeA g(r = 0.436 and 0.403, P < 0.001). The detection rate of pattern A [‘HBsA g(+), HBeA g(+), and anti‐HBc(+)’] was significantly higher in the PBMC HBV cccD NA positive group than in the control group(χ^2 = 48.48, P < 0.001). There was a significant association between HBV intrauterine transmission and PBMC HBV cccD NA(χ^2 = 9.28, P = 0.002). In the presence of serum HBV DNA, HBeA g, and PBMC HBV cccD NA, the risk of HBV intrauterine transmission was three times higher(OR = 3.69, 95% CI: 1.30‐10.42) than that observed in their absence. The risk of HBV intrauterine transmission was the greatest(OR = 5.89, 95% CI: 2.35‐14.72) when both PBMC HBV cccD NA and pattern A were present. A Bayesian network model showed that maternal PBMC HBV cccD NA was directly related to HBV intrauterine transmission. Conclusion PBMC HBV cccDNA may be a direct risk factor for HBV intrauterine transmission. 12The Association of Socioeconomic Status with the Burden of Cataract-related Blindness and the Effect of Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure: An Ecological Study显示文摘Objective To assess the association of socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract blindness in terms of year lived with disability(YLD) rates and to determine whether ultraviolet radiation(UVR) levels modify the effect of socioeconomic status on this health burden.Methods National and subnational age-standardized YLD rates associated with cataract-related blindness were derived from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD) study 2017. The human development index(HDI) from the Human Development Report was used as a measure of socioeconomic status.Estimated ground-level UVR exposure was obtained from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI)dataset of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA).Results Across 185 countries, socioeconomic status was inversely associated with the burden of cataract blindness. Countries with a very high HDI had an 84% lower age-standardized YLD rate [95%confidence interval(CI): 60%–93%, P < 0.001] than countries with a low HDI;for high-HDI countries, the proportion was 76%(95% CI: 53%–88%, P < 0.001), and for medium-HDI countries, the proportion was48%(95% CI: 15%–68%, P = 0.010;P for trend < 0.001). The interaction analysis showed that UVR exposure played an interactive role in the association between socioeconomic status and cataract blindness burden(P value for interaction = 0.047).Conclusion Long-term high-UVR exposure amplifies the association of poor socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract-related blindness. 13Over-expression of the AtGA2ox8 gene decreases the biomass accumulation and lignification in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)显示文摘Gibberellin 2-oxidase (GA 2-oxidase) plays very important roles in plant growth and development. In this study, the AtGA2ox8 gene, derived from Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), was transformed and over-expressed in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) to assess the role of AtGA2ox8 in biomass accumulation and lignification in plants. The transgenic plants, identified by resistant selection, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and reverse-transcription PCR (RT-PCR) analyses, and green fluorescence examination, showed growth retardation, flowering delay, and dwarf stature. The fresh weight and dry weight in transgenic lines were about 21% and 29% lower than those in wild type (WT), respectively, and the fresh to dry weight ratios were higher than that of WT. Quantitative measurements demonstrated that the lignin content in transgenic lines decreased by 10%-20%, and histochemical staining results also showed reduced lignification in transgenic lines. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis indicated that the transcript levels of lignin biosynthetic genes in transgenic lines were markedly decreased and were consistent with the reduced lignification. 14Mo-modified Pd/Al_2O_3 catalysts for benzene catalytic combustion显示文摘Mo-modified Pd/Al2O3catalysts were prepared by an impregnation method and tested for the catalytic combustion of benzene. The catalysts were characterized by N2 isothermal adsorption, X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), temperatureprogrammed desorption of NH3(NH3-TPD), H2temperature-programmed reduction(H2-TPR), and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM). The results showed that the addition of Mo effectively improved the activity and stability of the Pd/Al2O3catalyst by increasing the dispersion of Pd active components, changing the partial oxidation state of palladium and increasing the oxygen species concentration on the surface of catalyst. In the case of the Pd–Mo/Al2O3catalyst,benzene conversion of 90% was obtained at temperatures as low as 190°C, which was 45°C lower than that for similar performance with the Pd/Al2O3catalyst. Moreover, the 1.0% Pd–5% Mo/Al2O3catalyst was more active than the 2.0% Pd/Al2O3catalyst. 15Value of urine IL-8, NGAL and KIM-1 for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury in patients with ureteroscopic lithotripsy related urosepsis显示文摘Purpose::To investigate the clinical value of urine interleukin-18(IL-8),neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin(NGAL)and kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1)for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury(AKI)in patients with ureteroscopic lithotripsy(URL)related urosepsis.Methods::A retrospective study was carried out in 157 patients with urosepsis after URL.The patients were divided into AKI group and non-AKI group according to the Kidigo guideline and urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay at 0,4,12,24 and 48 h after the surgery.Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of these three biomarkers for postoperative AKI.Results::The level of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 in AKI group was significantly higher than that in non-AKI group at 4,12,24 and 48 h(p<0.01).The ROC analysis showed the combined detection of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 at 12 h had a larger area under curve(AUC)than a single marker(0.997,95%CI:0.991-0.998),and the sensitivity and specificity were 98.2%and 96.7%,respectively.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the levels of urine NGAL at 4,12,24 and 48 h in AKI patients were positively correlated with the levels of urine KIM-1 and IL-18(p<0.01).Conclusion::AKI could be quickly recognized by the elevated level of urine IL-8,NGAL and KIM-1 in patients with URL-related urosepsis.Combined detection of the three urine biomarkers at 12 h after surgery had a better diagnostic performance,which may be an important reference for the early diagnosis of AKI.Dan Tan Liang Zhao Wei Peng Fang-Hao Wu Guo-Bin Zhang Bo Yang Wen-Qian Huo 2022Chinese Journal of Traumatology2022,25,1:6
16Nerve autografts and tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries: a 5-year bibliometric analysis显示文摘With advances in biomedical methods, tissue-engineered materials have developed rapidly as an alternative to nerve autografts for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries. However, the materials selected for use in the repair of peripheral nerve injuries, in particular multiple injuries and largegap defects, must be chosen carefully. Various methods and materials for protecting the healthy tissue and repairing peripheral nerve injuries have been described, and each method or material has advantages and disadvantages. Recently, a large amount of research has been focused on tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries. Using the keywords 'peripheral nerve injury', 'autotransplant', 'nerve graft', and 'biomaterial', we retrieved publications using tissue-engineered materials for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries appearing in the Web of Science from 2010 to 2014. The country with the most total publications was the USA. The institutions that were the most productive in this field include Hannover Medical School(Germany), Washington University(USA), and Nantong University(China). 18Optimal Coordination Control Strategy of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems for Tie-line Smoothing Services in Integrated Community Energy Systems显示文摘Increasing renewable energy penetration into integrated community energy systems(ICESs)requires more efficient methods to prevent power fluctuations of the tie–line(connection of the ICESs to the main grid).In this paper,centrally-controlled air conditioners are considered as a virtual energy storage system(VESS).The optimal thermostat regulation is used to manage the charging/discharging power of the VESS within the customer comfort level range and the virtual state of charge(VSOC)is used to describe the charging/discharging power of the VESS.On this basis,the model of the hybrid energy storage system is built with a VESS and a battery storage system(BSS).Then,an optimal coordination control strategy(OCCS)for a hybrid energy storage system is developed considering the state-space equation to describe the OCCS,the constraints of the OCCS,and the objective function to express the optimal coordination control performance.Finally,the influence of the outdoor temperature and the deadband of air conditioners on the results of the OCCS is analyzed.Results show that the OCCS can realize optimal allocation of the storage response amount to trace the reference target accurately and guarantee both the state of charge(SOC)of the batteries in a reasonable range to prolong the battery life and ensure the level of comfort experienced by users.Dan Wang Yunqiang Zhi Bo Yu Zhaoyu Chen Qingsong An Ling Cheng Menghua Fan 2018CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2018,4,4:5

20Genome-wide analysis identified 17 new loci influencing intraocular pressure in Chinese population显示文摘Intraocular pressure(IOP) is a major risk factor for glaucoma. Genetic determinants of intraocular pressure can provide critical insights into the genetic architecture of glaucoma and, as a result, open new avenues for therapeutic intervention. We performed a genome-wide association study and replication analysis of 8,552 Chinese participants. In the genome-wide association study, we identified 51 loci that surpassed the significance of P<9×10^(-7), and we formally replicated these loci. A combined discovery and replication meta-analysis identified 21 genome-wide loci that surpassed the genome-wide significance of P<5×10^(-8), including 4 previously reported loci: rs145063132(7 p21.2, ETV1/DGKB), rs548030386(7 q31.2, ST7 near CAV1/CAV2), rs7047871(9 p24.2, GLIS3), and rs2472494(9 q31.1, ABCA1/SLC44 A1). Of the 17 newly identified loci, five were reported to have ocular related phenotypes: PTCH2(rs7525308 in 1 p34.1), LRIF1/DRAM2(rs1282146 in 1 p13.3), COLEC11(rs201143466 in 2 p25.3),SPTBN1(rs4514918 in 2 p16.2), and CRK(rs11078446 in 17 p13.3).
