| 1 | Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults显示文摘Background:Few studies have assessed the relationship between multimorbidity patterns and mortality risk in the Chinese population.We aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and examined the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with the risk of mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older adults.Methods:We used data from the China Kadoorie Biobank and included 512,723 participants aged 30 to 79 years.Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more of the 15 chronic diseases collected by self-report or physical examination at baseline.Multimorbidity patterns were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis.Cox regression was used to estimate the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.Results:Overall,15.8%of participants had multimorbidity.The prevalence of multimorbidity increased with age and was higher in urban than rural participants.Four multimorbidity patterns were identified,including cardiometabolic multimorbidity(diabetes,coronary heart disease,stroke,and hypertension),respiratory multimorbidity(tuberculosis,asthma,and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(gallstone disease,chronic kidney disease,cirrhosis,peptic ulcer,and cancer),and mental and arthritis multimorbidity(neurasthenia,psychiatric disorder,and rheumatoid arthritis).During a median of 10.8 years of follow-up,49,371 deaths occurred.Compared with participants without multimorbidity,cardiometabolic multimorbidity(hazard ratios[HR]=2.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:2.14-2.26)and respiratory multimorbidity(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.31)demonstrated relatively higher risks of mortality,followed by gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(HR=1.33,95%CI:1.22-1.46).The mortality risk increased by 36%(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.35-1.37)with every additional disease.Conclusion:Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults. | Junning Fan Zhijia Sun Canqing Yu Yu Guo Pei Pei Ling Yang Yiping Chen Huaidong Du Dianjianyi Sun Yuanjie Pang Jun Zhang Simon Gilbert Daniel Avery Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Jun Lyu Liming Li On Behalf of the China Kadoorie Biobank Collaborative Group | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6: | 17 |
| 2 | High-Sensitivity Temperature Sensor Based on Polarization Maintaining Fiber Sagnac Loop显示文摘A high-sensitivity all-fiber temperature sensor based on a Sagnac interferometer is demonstrated by splicing a section of polarization maintaining fiber(PMF)between two sections of standard single mode fibers(SMFs).In this sensor,the SMF-PMF-SMF structure in the Sagnac loop is bent into a circle to enhance the sensitivity.The length and curvature of the PMF in the loop are investigated and can be optimized to further increase the temperature sensitivity of the sensor. | 3 | Single-mode helical Bragg grating waveguide created in a multimode coreless fiber by femtosecond laser direct writing显示文摘We demonstrate the fabrication of single-mode helical Bragg grating waveguides(HBGWs)in a multimode core-less fiber by using a femtosecond laser direct writing technique.This approach provides a single-step method for creating Bragg grating waveguides.Specifically,the unique helical structure in such an HBGW serves as a depressed cladding waveguide and also generates strong Bragg resonance due to its periodicity.Effects of pulse energy,helical diameter,and helical pitch used for fabricating HBGWs were studied,and a single-mode HBGW with a narrow bandwidth of 0.43 nm and a Bragg wavelength of 1546.50 nm was achieved by using appropriate parameters,including a diameter of 10μm and a helical pitch of 1.07μm.The measured cross-sectional refractive index profile indicates that a depressed cladding waveguide has been created in this single-mode HBGW.Moreover,five single-mode HBGWs with various Bragg wavelengths were successfully fabricated by controlling the helical pitch,and this technique could be used for achieving a wavelength-division-multiplexed HBGW array.Then,the temperature and strain responses of the fabricated single-mode HBGW were tested,exhibiting a temperature sensitivity of 11.65 pm/℃ and a strain sensitivity of 1.29 pm/με,respectively.In addition,the thermal stability of the single-mode HBGW was also studied by annealing at a high temperature of 700℃ for 15 h.The degeneration of the single-mode waveguide into a multimode waveguide was observed during the isothermal annealing process,and the peak reflection and the Bragg wavelength of the fundamental mode exhibited a decrease of∼7 dB and a“blue”shift of 0.36 nm.Hence,such a femtosecond laser directly written single-mode HBGW could be used in many applications,such as sapphire fiber sensors,photonic integrated circuits,and monolithic waveguide lasers. | JUN HE JIA HE XIZHEN XU BIN DU BAIJIE XU CHANGRUI LIAO ZHIYONG BAI YIPING WANG | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,10: | 4 |

| 5 | One-pot synthesis of silver colloid with body-heat for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy detections显示文摘In this study,a convenient method of preparing the substrate is proposed with one-pot synthesis of silver colloid under body heat,and the SERS detection uses the fresh substrate to avoid the drawback of substrates’short life of use.The synthesis of silver colloid is carried out in a 10 mL vial by using ascorbic acid as a reductant and trisodium citrate as a stabilizer.The vial is grasped with the palm of the experimenter for several minutes without shaking.The proposed method is simple,rapid,green energy and cost-effective.By adjusting the concentration of trisodium citrate,not only the particle size can be controlled from about 110 nm to 50 nm but also the homogeneity of nanoparticles can be improved.As a SERS substrate,the silver colloid has high batch reproducibility and showed good SERS activity.The relative standard deviation between different manufacturers is 5.51%when the substrate of silver colloid is used for the detection of rhodamine 6 G.Using the substrate,the lowest detection concentrations of rhodamine 6 G,crystal violet,enrofloxacin,melamine and leucomalachite green are 1.0×10-8,6.1×10-8,1.4×10-6,7.1×10-5 and 5.1×10-8 mol/L,respectively.Results demonstrate that the developed method has the advantage of convenience and high efficiency in the field preparation of reliable SERS substrate. | Wanchao Chen Yan Kang Han Zhang Tianxiong Huang Xin Tao Aiping Lu Yiping Du | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5: | 2 |
| 6 | Associations of muscle mass,strength,and quality with all-cause mortality in China:a population-based cohort study显示文摘Background It remains unclear about the association of muscle mass,strength,and quality with death in the general Chinese population of diverse economical and geographical backgrounds.The present study aimed to comprehensively examine such associations across different regions in China.Methods Based on the China Kadoorie Biobank study,the present study included 23,290 participants who were aged 38 to 88 years and had no prevalent cardiovascular diseases or cancer.Muscle mass and grip strength were measured using calibrated instruments.Arm muscle quality was defined as the ratio of grip strength to arm muscle mass.Low muscle mass,grip strength,and arm muscle quality were defined as the sex-specific lowest quintiles of muscle mass index,grip strength,and arm muscle quality,respectively.Cox proportional hazards models yielded hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for risks of all-cause mortality in relation to muscle mass,strength,and quality.Results During a median follow-up of 3.98 years,739 participants died.The HR(95%CI)of all-cause mortality risk was 1.28(1.08–1.51)for low appendicular muscle mass index,1.38(1.16–1.62)for low total muscle mass index,1.68(1.41–2.00)for low grip strength,and 1.41(1.20–1.66)for low arm muscle quality in models adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics,lifestyle factors,and medical histories.Conclusion Low muscle mass,grip strength,and arm muscle quality are all associated with short-term increased risks of mortality,indicating the importance of maintaining normal muscle mass,strength,and quality for general Chinese adults. | Man Wu Yuxia Wei Jun Lv Yu Guo Pei Pei Jiachen Li Huaidong Du Ling Yang Yiping Chen Xiaohui Sun Hua Zhang Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Canqing Yu Liming Li 无 | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,11: | 2 |

| 8 | Producing deep UV-LEDs in high-yield MOVPE by improving AlN crystal quality with sputtered AlN nucleation layer显示文摘High-quality AlN layers with low-density threading dislocations are indispensable for high-efficiency deep ultraviolet light-emitting diodes(UV-LEDs). In this work, a high-temperature AlN epitaxial layer was grown on sputtered AlN layer(used as nucleation layer, SNL) by a high-yield industrial metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy(MOVPE). The full width half maximum(FWHM) of the rocking curve shows that the AlN epitaxial layer with SNL has good crystal quality. Furthermore, the relationships between the thickness of SNL and the FWHM values of(002) and(102) peaks were also studied. Finally, utilizing an SNL to enhance the quality of the epitaxial layer, deep UV-LEDs at 282 nm were successfully realized on sapphire substrate by the high-yield industrial MOVPE. The light-output power(LOP) of a deep UV-LED reaches 1.65 mW at 20 mA with external quantum efficiency of 1.87%. In addition, the saturation LOP of the deep UV-LED is 4.31 mW at an injection current of 60 mA. Hardness experiments demonstrated that the solidified ingots were significantly strengthened, and the hardness was improved to 63.1 and 786.6 on the Rockwell hardness C and Vickers hardness scales, respectively. Tests of friction and wear in stirred FF eutectic alloys showed excellent anti-fatigue and anti-adhesion wear performance. Alloy changed from an anomalous microstructure to a refined quasi-regular structure, and there was an increase in the lamellar microstructure fraction.
