1Cementing mechanism of algal crusts from desert area显示文摘34-, 17-, 4-, 1.5-year old natural algal crusts were collected from Shapotou Scientific Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 40-day old field and greenhouse artificial algal crusts were in situ developed in the same sandy soil and the same place (37°27’N, 104°57’E). Their different cohesions both against wind force and pressure were measured respectively by a sandy wind-tunnel experiment and a penetrometer. On the basis of these algal crusts, the cementing mechanism was revealed from many subjects and different levels. The results showed that in the indoor artificial crusts with the weakest cohesion bunchy algal filaments were distributed in the surface of the crusts, produced few extracellular polymers (EPS), the binding capacity of the crusts just accomplished by mechanical bundle of algal filaments. 2Cyanobacteria-/cyanotoxin-contaminations and eutrophication status before Wuxi Drinking Water Crisis in Lake Taihu, China显示文摘After the appalling 'Wuxi Drinking Water Crisis', increasing investigations concerning the contaminations of cyanobacterial blooms and their toxins in Lake Taihu have been performed and reported in the last two years. However, information regarding these issues before the crisis in 2007 remained insufficient. To provide some background data for further comparisons, the present study reported our investigations conducted in 2004, associated with the cyanotoxin contaminations as well as the eutrophication status in Lake Taihu. Results from the one-year-study near a drinking water resource for Wuxi City indicated that, unlike the status in recent two years, cyanobacteria and chlorophyta are the co-dominance species throughout the year. The highest toxin concentration (34.2 ng/mL) in water columns occurred in August. In bloom biomass, the peak value of intracellular toxin (0.59 μg/mg DW) was determined in October, which was lag behind that in water column. In addition, MC-RR was the major toxin variant throughout the year. During the study period, nutrients levels of total nitrogen and phosphorus were also recorded monthly. 3Polysaccharides from Angelica sinensis alleviate neuronal cell injury caused by oxidative stress显示文摘Angelica sinensis has antioxidative and neuroprotective effects. In the present study, we aimed to determine the neuroprotective effect of polysaccharides isolated from Angelica sinensis. In a preliminary experiment, Angelica sinensis polysaccharides not only protected PC12 neuronal cells from H 2 O 2-induced cytotoxicity, but also reduced apoptosis and intracellular reactive oxygen species levels, and increased the mitochondrial membrane potential induced by H 2 O 2 treatment. In a rat model of local cerebral ischemia, we further demonstrated that Angelica sinensis polysaccharides enhanced the antioxidant activity in cerebral cortical neurons, increased the number of microvessels, and improved blood flow after ischemia. 5Rational design of novel ultra-small amorphous Fe_(2)O_(3)nanodots/graphene heterostructures for all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors显示文摘Constructing graphene-based heterostructures with large interfacial area is an efficient approach to enhance the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors but remains great challenges in their synthesis.Herein,a novel ultra-small amorphous Fe_(2)O_(3)nanodots/graphene heterostructure(a-Fe_(2)O_(3)NDs/RGO)aerogel was facilely synthesized via excessive metal-ion-induced self-assembly and subsequent calcination route using Prussian blue/graphene oxide(PB/GO)composite aerogel as precursors.The deliberately designed a-Fe_(2)O_(3)NDs/RGO heterostructure offers a highly interconnected porous conductive network,large heterostructure interfacial area,and plenty of accessible active sites,greatly facilitating the electron transfer,electrolyte diffusion,and pseudocapacitive reactions.The obtained a-Fe_(2)O_(3)NDs/RGO aerogel could be used as flexible free-standing electrodes after mechanical compression,which exhibited a significantly enhanced specific capacitance of 347.4 F·g^(-1)at 1 A·g^(-1),extraordinary rate capability of 184 F·g^(-1)at 10 A·g^(-1),and decent cycling stability.With the as-prepared a-Fe_(2)O_(3)NDs/RGO as negative electrodes and the Co_(3)O_(4)NDs/RGO as positive electrodes,an all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor(a-Fe_(2)O_(3)NDs/RGO//Co_(3)O_(4)NDs/RGO asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC))was assembled,which delivered a high specific capacitance of 69.1 F·g^(-1)at 1 A·g^(-1)and an impressive energy density of 21.6 W·h·k·g^(-1)at 750 W·k·g^(-1),as well as good cycling stability with a capacity retention of 94.3%after 5,000 cycles.This work provides a promising avenue to design high-performance graphene-based composite electrodes and profound inspiration for developing advanced flexible energy-storage devices.Chenxiao Wu Zhifang Zhang Zhonghui Chen Zuimin Jiang Huiyu Li Haijing Cao Yongsheng Liu Yanyan Zhu Zebo Fang Xiangrong Yu 2021Nano Research2021,14,4:6

11Molybdenum Nanoscrews:A Novel Non-coinage-Metal Substrate for Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering显示文摘For the first time, Mo nanoscrew was cultivated as a novel non-coinage-metal substrate for surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS). It was found that the nanoscrew is composed of many small screw threads stacking along its length direction with small separations. Under external light excitation, strong electromagnetic coupling was initiated within the gaps, and many hot-spots formed on the surface of the nanoscrew, which was confirmed by high-resolution scanning near-field optical microscope measurements and numerical simulations using finite element method. These hotspots are responsible for the observed SERS activity of the nanoscrews. Raman mapping characterizations further revealed the excellent reproducibility of the SERS activity.
