| 1 | Antidiarrheal activity of Pterocarpus erinaceus methanol leaf extract in experimentally-induced diarrhea显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antidiarrheal activity of the methanol leaf extract of Pterocarpus erinaceus in vivo.Methods:The methanol leaf extract of Ptemcarpus erinaceus was evaluated using different doses(100,200 and 400 mg/kg body weight) orally for antidiarrheal activity using castor oil-induced diarrhea,charcoal meal transit lime and castor oil-induced enteropooling in different groups of albino Wistar mice.The activity of the extract at different doses were compared to diphenoxylate(3 mg/kg) and atropine sulphate(3 mg/kg) which were used as standard reference drugs and also to the distilled water administered negative control group of mice.Results:The extract at the doses used caused a significant(P< 0.01) reduction in the wet faeces passed by the mice in the castor oil-induced diarrhea,decreased the distance travelled by the charcoal meal by up to 54.8%and also caused a dose dependent and significant(P< 0.001) reduction in the intraluminal fluid accumulation in the castor oil-induced enteropooling. | 2 | Outcomes after arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff tears in the setting of mild to moderate glenohumeral osteoarthritis显示文摘BACKGROUND Rotator cuff pathology is a very common source of shoulder pain.Similarly,osteoarthritis of the glenohumeral joint can cause shoulder pain and produce similar symptoms.Surgical management can be indicated for both pathologies,however,outcomes data is limited when examining rotator cuff repair(RCR) in the setting of glenohumeral arthritis(GHOA).Thus,this study sought to determine outcomes for patients who undergo RCR in the setting of GHOA.AIM To evaluate if a relationship exists between outcomes of RCR in the setting of GHOA.METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with concurrent glenohumeral osteoarthritis between 2010-2017.Patients were stratified based on rotator cuff tear size and glenohumeral osteoarthritis severity.Cohorts were paired 1:1 with patients without glenohumeral osteoarthritis.Patients included had a minimum two year follow-up.Rate of conversion to total shoulder arthroplasty,complication rates following initial surgery,and patient-reported outcome measures were collected.RESULTS A total of 142 patients were included.The number of patients that required total shoulder arthroplasty within two years after index surgery was low.2/71(2.8%) patients with GHOA,and 1/71(1.4%) without GHOA.Following rotator cuff repair,both groups showed favorable patientreported outcomes.CONCLUSION Patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair showed comparable outcomes to patients without glenohumeral osteoarthritis. | Ian S Hong Allison J Rao Tyler L CarlLee Joshua D Meade Daniel J Hurwit Gregory Scarola David P Trofa Shadley C Schiffern Nady Hamid Patrick M Connor James E Fleischli Bryan Michael Saltzman | 2022 | World Journal of Orthopedics2022，13，7： | 2 |

| 4 | Management practices of hepatitis C virus infected alcoholic hepatitis patients:A survey of physicians显示文摘AIM:To survey gastroenterologists and hepatologists regarding their current views on treating hepatitis C virus(HCV) infected alcoholic hepatitis(AH) patients.METHODS:A sixteen item questionnaire was electronically mailed to gastroenterologists and hepatologists.A reminder was sent after 2 mo to increase the response rate.Participation of respondents was confidential.Accessing secured web site to respond to the questionnaire was considered as informed consent.Responses received on the secured website were downloaded in an excel sheet for data analysis.RESULTS:Analyzing 416 responses to 1556(27% response rate) emails,57% respondents(56% gastroenterologists) reported HCV prevalence > 20% amongst AH patients.Sixty nine percent often treated AH and 46% preferred corticosteroids(CS).Proportion of respondents with consensus(75% or more respondents agreeing on question) on specific management of HCV infected AH were:routine HCV testing(94%),HCV not changing response to CS(80%) or pentoxifylline(91%),no change in approach to treating HCV infected AH(75%).None of respondent variables:age,specialty,annual number of patients seen,and HCV prevalence could predict respondent to be in consensus on any of or all 4 questions.Further,only 4% would choose CS for treating HCV infected AH as opposed to 47% while treating HCV negative AH.CONCLUSION:Gastroenterologists and hepatologists believe that AH patients be routinely checked for HCV.However,there is lack of consensus on choice of drug for treatment and outcome of HCV positive AH patients.Studies are needed to develop guidelines for management of HCV infected AH patients. | Ashwani K Singal Habeeb Salameh Anjna Singal Sarat C Jampana Daniel H Freeman Karl E Anderson Don Brunder | 2013 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pharmacology and Therapeutics2013，4，2： | 2 |
| 5 | Stability of fruit quality traits in diverse watermelon cultivars tested in multiple environments显示文摘Lycopene is a naturally occurring red carotenoid compound that is found in watermelon.Lycopene has antioxidant properties.Lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance are subject to significant genotype×environment interaction(G×E),which makes breeding for these fruit quality traits difficult.The objectives of this study were to(i)evaluate the influence of years and locations on lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance for a set of watermelon genotypes,and(ii)identify genotypes with high stability for lycopene,sugar,and hollowheart resistance.A diverse set of 40 genotypes was tested over 3 years and 8 locations across the southern United States in replicated,multi-harvest trials.Lycopene was tested in a subset of 10 genotypes.Data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate stability statistics(BLUP-GGE biplot)using SASGxE and RGxE programs.There were strong effects of environment as well as G×E interaction on watermelon quality traits.On the basis of stability measures,genotypes were classified as stable or unstable for each quality trait.'Crimson Sweet'is an inbred line with high quality trait performance as well as trait stability.'Stone Mountain','Tom Watson','Crimson Sweet'and'Minilee'were among the best genotypes for lycopene content,sugar content and hollowheart resistance.We developed a stability chart based on marketable yield and average ranking generated from different stability measures for yield attributes and quality traits.The chart will assist in choosing parents for improvement of watermelon cultivars.See http://gffzz783b6e01a04243c3hub9c5wf9wx6q66wu.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/cucurbit/wmelon/wmelonmain.html. | Mahendra Dia Todd C Wehner Penelope Perkins-Veazie Richard Hassell Daniel S Price George E Boyhan Stephen M Olson Stephen R King Angela R Davis Gregory E Tolla Jerome Bernier Benito Juarez | 2016 | Horticulture Research2016，3，1： | 2 |
