| 3 | Significant association between ABO blood group and pancreatic cancer显示文摘AIM:To evaluate whether the ABO blood group is related to pancreatic cancer risk in the general population of the United States.METHODS:Using the University of Pittsburgh's clinicalpancreatic cancer registry,the blood donor database from our local blood bank (Central Blood Bank),and the blood product recipient database from the regional transfusion service (Centralized Transfusion Service) in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania,we identified 274 pancreatic cancer patients with previously determined serological ABO blood group information.The ABO blood group frequency was compared between these patients and 708842 individual,community-based blood donors who had made donations to Pittsburgh's Central Blood Bank between 1979 and 2009.RESULTS:The frequency of blood group A was statistically significantly higher amongst pancreatic cancer patients compared to its frequency amongst the regional blood donors [47.63% vs 39.10%,odds ratio (OR)=1.43,P=0.004].Conversely,the frequency of blood group O was significantly lower amongst pancreatic cancer patients relative to the community blood donors (32.12% vs 43.99%,OR=0.60,P=0.00007).There were limited blood group B (n=38) and AB (n=17) pancreatic cancer patients;the overall P trend value comparing patient to donor blood groups was 0.001.CONCLUSION:The ABO blood group is associated with pancreatic cancer risk.Future studies should examine the mechanism linking pancreatic cancer risk to ABO blood group. | Julia B Greer Mark H Yazer Jay S Raval M Michael Barmada Randall E Brand David C Whitcomb | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，44： | 10 |

| 5 | Selecting suitable solid organ transplant donors: Reducing the risk of donor-transmitted infections显示文摘Selection of the appropriate donor is essential to a successful allograft recipient outcome for solid organ transplantation. Multiple infectious diseases have been transmitted from the donor to the recipient via transplantation. Donor-transmitted infections cause increased morbidity and mortality to the recipient. In recent years, a series of high-profile transmissions of infections have occurred in organ recipients prompt-ing increased attention on the process of improving the selection of an appropriate donor that balances the shortage of needed allografts with an approach that mitigates the risk of donor-transmitted infection to the recipient. Important advances focused on improving donor screening diagnostics, using previously excluded high-risk donors, and individualizing the selection of allografts to recipients based on their prior infection history are serving to increase the donor pool and improve outcomes after transplant. In this review, we focused on 3 biomarkers involved in the DNA damage response pathway and the necroptosis pathway: Chromodomainhelicase-DNA binding protein 5, chromodomain-helicaseDNA binding protein 7, and mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein. The aim of this article is to review present literature provided for these biomarkers and current studies in which their effectiveness as prognostic biomarkers are analyzed in order to determine their future use as biomarkers in clinical medicine. | 15 | SARS-COV-2 infection(coronavirus disease 2019)for the gastrointestinal consultant显示文摘The current pandemic due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has caused an extreme burden for health care systems globally,and the number of cases is expected to continue to increase,at least in the immediate future.The virus is estimated to have infected more than 1.5 million individuals.The available reports suggest that gastrointestinal(GI)involvement in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is common and in some cases the GI symptoms may precede the respiratory symptoms.In addition to direct effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,the infected patients remain at risk for the complications commonly managed by gastroenterology and hepatology consultants.The most commonly reported GI manifestation of COVID-19 is diarrhea,which is reported in a third to up to more than half of the patients.Mild to moderate elevation of the liver enzymes are also common,although no case of acute liver failure has been reported so far.Many of the medications used for treatment of COVID-19 can also be associated with GI symptoms or liver injury and can be included in the differential diagnosis in these patients.Although the diagnosis of the infection is currently based on RNA analysis in respiratory samples,the available literature on fecal shedding of this virus suggests that fecal RNA testing might prove to be a useful diagnostic test.It is reasonable to delay all non-urgent endoscopic procedures during the peak of the pandemic and use additional protective equipment such as N95 respirators during endoscopy while most patients can be considered high risk for having been exposed to the virus. | Kaveh Hajifathalian Srihari Mahadev Robert E Schwartz Shawn Shah Kartik Sampath Felice Schnoll-Sussman Robert S Brown Jr David Carr-Locke David E Cohen Reem Z Sharaiha | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020，26，14： | 2 |
