1Environmental records of lacustrine sediments in different time scales:Sediment grain size as an example显示文摘Sediment grain size is a conventional proxy of climatic changes. Larger sediment grain size is often interpreted to indicate dry climate during lower lake level while smaller sedi- ment grain size implies wet climate during higher lake level. Through detailed study on sediment grain sizes in Lake Erhai and Lake Chenghai, this paper reveals the different indication signifi- cances of sediment grain sizes in different time scales, different resolution investigations. For long time-scale and low resolution (102a or 103a) studies, larger sediment grain size indicates lower lake level, smaller lake area and drier climate while smaller sediment grain size indicates higher lake level, larger lake area and wetter climate. For short time-scale and high resolution (a or 10a) studies, larger sediment grain size reflects more rainfall and wetter climate while smaller sediment grain size reflects less rainfall and drier climate. Environmental information revealed by lacustrine sediment records is often different in different time scales because of the variance of sedimentation resolution, sampling resolution and dating precision. Therefore, paleoclimate im- plications of environmental proxies in long time-scale and low resolution investigations could not be mechanically applied to short time-scale and high resolution studies. 2Recent advances on phylogenomics of gymnosperms and a new classification显示文摘Living gymnosperms comprise four major groups:cycads,Ginkgo,conifers,and gnetophytes.Relationships among/within these lineages have not been fully resolved.Next generation sequencing has made available a large number of sequences,including both plastomes and single-copy nuclear genes,for reconstruction of solid phylogenetic trees.Recent advances in gymnosperm phylogenomic studies have updated our knowledge of gymnosperm systematics.Here,we review major advances of gymnosperm phylogeny over the past 10 years and propose an updated classification of extant gymnosperms.This new classification includes three classes(Cycadopsida,Ginkgoopsida,and Pinopsida),five subclasses(Cycadidae,Ginkgoidae,Cupressidae,Pinidae,and Gnetidae),eight orders(Cycadales,Ginkgoales,Araucariales,Cupressales,Pinales,Ephedrales,Gnetales,and Welwitschiales),13 families,and 86 genera.We also described six new tribes including Acmopyleae Y.Yang,Austrocedreae Y.Yang,Chamaecyparideae Y.Yang,Microcachrydeae Y.Yang,Papuacedreae Y.Yang,and Prumnopityeae Y.Yang,and made 27 new combinations in the genus Sabina.Yong Yang David Kay Ferguson Bing Liu Kang-Shan Mao Lian-Ming Gao Shou-Zhou Zhang Tao Wan Keith Rushforth Zhi-Xiang Zhang 2022Plant Diversity2022,44,4:10

7Effect of nitrogen fertilization on yield, N content, and nitrogen fixation of alfalfa and smooth bromegrass grown alone or in mixture in greenhouse pots显示文摘Planting grass and legume mixtures on improved grasslands has the potential advantage of realizing both higher yields and lower environmental pollution by optimizing the balance between applied N fertilizer and the natural process of legume biological nitrogen fixation. However, the optimal level of N fertilization for grass-legume mixtures, to obtain the highest yield, quality, and contribution of N2 fixation, varies with species. A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted to study the temporal dynamics of N2 fixation of alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) grown alone and in mixture with smooth bromegrass(Bromus inermis Leyss.) in response to the addition of fertilizer N. Three levels of N(0, 75, and 150 kg ha–1) were examined using 15N-labeled urea to evaluate N2 fixation via the 15 N isotope dilution method. Treatments were designated N0(0.001 g per pot), N75(1.07 g per pot) and N150(2.14 g per pot). Alfalfa grown alone did not benefit from the addition of fertilizer N; dry matter was not significantly increased. In contrast, dry weight and N content of smooth bromegrass grown alone was increased significantly by N application. When grown as a mixture, smooth bromegrass biomass was increased significantly by N application, resulted in a decrease in alfalfa biomass. In addition, individual alfalfa plant dry weight(shoots+roots) was significantly lower in the mixture than when grown alone at all N levels. Smooth bromegrass shoot and root dry weight were significantly higher when grown with alfalfa than when grown alone, regardless of N application level. When grown alone, alfalfa's N2 fixation was reduced with N fertilization(R2=0.9376, P=0.0057). When grown in a mixture with smooth bromegrass, with 75 kg ha–1 of N fertilizer, the percentage of atmospheric N2 fixation contribution to total N in alfalfa(%Ndfa) had a maximum of 84.07 and 83.05% in the 2nd and 3rd harvests, respectively. Total 3-harvest %Ndfa was higher when alfalfa was grown in a mixture than when grown alone(shoots: |t|=3.39, P=0.0096; root: |t|=3.57, P=0.0073). We believe this was due to smooth bromegrass being better able to absorb available soil N(due to its fibrous root system), resulting inlower soil N availability and allowing alfalfa to develop an effective N2 fixing symbiosis prior to the 1st harvest. Once soil N levels were depleted, alfalfa was able to fix N2, resulting in the majority of its tissue N being derived from biological nitrogen fixation(BNF) in the 2nd and 3rd harvests. When grown in a mixture, with added N, alfalfa established an effective symbiosis earlier than when grown alone; in monoculture BNF did not contribute a significant portion of plant N in the N75 and N150 treatments, whereas in the mixture, BNF contributed 17.90 and 16.28% for these treatments respectively. Alfalfa has a higher BNF efficiency when grown in a mixture, initiating BNF earlier, and having higher N2 fixation due to less inhibition by soil-available N. 10Wikstroelide M potently inhibits HIV replication by targeting reverse transcriptase and integrase nuclear translocation显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the anti-HIV activity and mechanism of action of wikstroelide M,a daphnane diterpene from Daphne acutiloba Rehder(Thymelaeaceae).METHOD:The anti-HIV activities of wikstroelide M against different HIV strains were evaluated by cytopathic effect assay and p24 quantification assay with ELISA.The inhibitory effect of wikstroelide M on HIV reverse transcription was analyzed by real-time PCR and ELISA.The effect of wikstroelide M on HIV-1 integrase nuclear translocation was observed with a cell-based imaging assay.The effect of wikstroelide M on LEDGF/p75-IN interaction was assayed by molecular docking.RESULTS:Wikstroelide M potently inhibited different HIV-1 strains,including HIV-1IIIB,HIV-1A17,and HIV-19495,induced a cytopathic effect,with EC50 values ranging from 3.81 to 15.65 ng·mL-1.Wikstroelide M also had high inhibitory activities against HIV-2ROD and HIV-2CBL-20-induced cytopathic effects with EC50 values of 18.88 and 31.90 ng·mL-1.The inhibitory activities of wikstroelide M on the three HIV-1 strains were further confirmed by p24 quantification assay,with EC50 values ranging from 15.16 to 35.57 ng·mL-1.Wikstroelide M also potently inhibited HIV-1IIIB induced cytolysis in MT-4 cells,with an EC50 value of 9.60 ng·mL-1.The mechanistic assay showed that wikstroelide M targeted HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and nuclear translocation of integrase through disrupting the interaction between integrase and LEDGF/p75.CONCLUSION:Wikstroelide M may be a potent HIV-1 and HIV-2 inhibitor,the mechanisms of action may include inhibition of reverse trascriptase activity and inhibition of integrase nuclear translocation through disrupting the interaction between integrase and LEDGF/p75.ZHANG Xuan HUANG Sheng-Zhuo GU Wan-Gang YANG Liu-Meng CHEN Huan ZHENG Chang-Bo ZHAO You-Xing WAN David Chi-Cheong ZHENG Yong-Tang 2014Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2014,12,3:3

13Synthesis and biological activity of 3,6-diaryl-7H-thiazolo[3,2-b][1,2,4]triazin-7-one derivatives as novel acetylcholinesterase inhibitors显示文摘Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors played significant roles in treatment of Alzheimer's disease.Based on the research foundation of our previous work and molecular modeling,twelve 3,6-diaryl-7H-thiazolo[3,2-b][1,2,4]triazin-7-one derivatives were synthesized and characterized by mass spectra,infrared spectra,NMR and elemental analyses.The study of AChE inhibitory activity was carried out using the Ellman colorimetric assay with huperzine-A as the positive control.All target compounds exhibited more than 40% inhibition at 10 μM.Some target compounds showed good inhibition against AChE.The preliminary structure-activity relationships were the halogen atoms at the phenyl ring at the C6 position,the hydroxy groups and the long side chains at the phenyl ring at the C3 position of the parent nucleus played significant roles in the AChE inhibitory activity of the target compounds.WAN David ChiCheong 2010Science China Chemistry2010,53,11:2

15Operational Reliability Modeling and Assessment of Battery Energy Storage Based on Lithium-ion Battery Lifetime Degradation显示文摘Battery energy storage(BES)systems can effectively meet the diversified needs of power system dispatching and assist in renewable energy integration.The reliability of energy storage is essential to ensure the operational safety of the power grid.However,BES systems are composed of battery cells.This suggests that BES performance depends not only on the configuration but also on the operating state over different lifetime durations.The lack of safety and reliability is the main bottleneck preventing widespread applications of BES systems.Therefore,a reliability assessment algorithm and a weak-link analytical method for BES systems are proposed while considering battery lifetime degradation.Firstly,a novel lithium-ion battery model is proposed to identify the degradation rate of solid electrolyte interphase film formation and capacity plummeting.The impacts of different operating conditions are considered in stress factor models.Then,a reliability assessment algorithm for a BES system is introduced based on a universal generating function.An innovative weak-link analytical method based on the reliability importance index is proposed that combines the evaluation results of state-oriented and state-change-oriented indexes through an entropy weight method.The model,algorithm,indexes,and the usefulness are demonstrated in case studies based on aging test data and actual bus operating data.The results demonstrate the effects of the battery status and working conditions on BES reliability.Weak-link analysis is also used to assist BES systems in avoiding short-board batteries to achieve long lifetimes and efficient operation.Lin Cheng Yuxiang Wan Yanglin Zhou David Wenzhong Gao 2022Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2022,10,6:2
