| 2 | Wave packet solutions in a bounded equatorial ocean and its interannual and decadal variabilities显示文摘Linearized shallow water perturbation equations with approximation in an equatorial β plane are used to obtain the analytical solution of wave packet anomalies in the upper bounded equatorial ocean. The main results are as follows. The wave packet is a superposition of eastward travelling Kelvin waves and westward travelling Rossby waves with the slowest speed, and satisfies the boundary conditions of eastern and western coasts, respectively.The decay coefficient of this solution to the north and south sides of the equator is inversely proportional only to the phase velocity of Kelvin waves in the upper water. The oscillation frequency of the wave packet, which is also the natural frequency of the ocean, is proportional to its mode number and the phase velocity of Kelvin waves and is inversely proportional to the length of the equatorial ocean in the east-west direction. The flow anomalies of the wave packet of Mode 1 most of the time appear as zonal flows with the same direction. They reach the maximum at the center of the equatorial ocean and decay rapidly away from the equator, manifested as equatorially trapped waves. The flow anomalies of the wave packet of Mode 2 appear as the zonal flows with the same direction most of the time in half of the ocean, and are always 0 at the center of the entire ocean which indicates stagnation, while decaying away from the equator with the same speed as that of Mode 1. The spatial structure and oscillation period of the wave packet solution of Mode 1 and Mode 2 are consistent with the changing periods of the surface spatial field and time coefficient of the first and second modes of complex empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis of flow anomalies in the actual equatorial ocean. This indicates that the solution does exist in the real ocean, and that El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) and Indian Ocean dipole(IOD) are both related to Mode 2.After considering the Indonesian throughflow, we can obtain the length of bounded equatorial ocean by taking the sum of that of the tropical Indian Ocean and the tropical Pacific Ocean, thus this wave packet can also explain the decadal variability(about 20 a) of the equatorial Pacific and Indian Oceans. | Dongling Zhang Juan Zhu Xu Lu Ming Zhang | 2019 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,3: | 2 |
| 3 | Immunohistochemical panel of glypican-3, hepatocyte paraffin antigen-1, arginase-1, cytokeratin-19, and human epithelial membrane antigen for the differential diagnosis of liver tumors显示文摘Objective Clinical immunohistochemistry plays an increasingly important role in pathologic diagnosis. We investigated the usefulness of an immunohistochemical panel of glypican-3 (GPC3), hepatocyte paraffin antigen-1 (HepPar-1), arginase-1 (Arg-1), cytokeratin-19 (CK19), and human epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) for the differential diagnosis of liver tumors. Methods Two hundred and thirty-five immunohistochemical sections of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC;120 cases), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC;50 cases), combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma (CHC;17 cases), metastatic adenocarcinoma (20 cases), and benign liver lesions (28 cases) were obtained from the Department of Pathology at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. The sensitivity and specificity of the combined biomarkers GPC3/HepPar-1/Arg-1/CK19/EMA for the differential diagnosis of HCC, ICC, and CHC were calculated and analyzed retrospectively. Results The combined biomarkers GPC3+/CK19– had the highest specificity (98.3%) for diagnosing HCC, with a sensitivity of 60.0%. The specificity of GPC3–/HepPar-1–/Arg-1–/CK19+/EMA+ for diagnosing ICC was 93.0%, with a sensitivity of 76.0%. The specificity of GPC3+/HepPar-1+/Arg-1+/CK19+/EMA+ for diagnosing CHC was 95.9%, with a sensitivity of 52.9%. Conclusion The combined biomarkers GPC3/HepPar-1/Arg-1/CK19/EMA greatly improved the specificity of liver tumor diagnosis. | 8 | Host protection against Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages by prior vaccination in spring 2022 COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai显示文摘The Omicron family of SARS-CoV-2 variants are currently driving the COVID-19 pandemic.Here we analyzed the clinical laboratory test results of 9911 Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages-infected symptomatic patients without earlier infection histories during a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in Shanghai in spring 2022.Compared to an earlier patient cohort infected by SARS-CoV-2 prototype strains in 2020,BA.2.2 infection led to distinct fluctuations of pathophysiological markers in the peripheral blood.In particular,severe/critical cases of COVID19 post BA.2.2 infection were associated with less pro-inflammatory macrophage activation and stronger interferon alpha response in the bronchoalveolar microenvironment.Importantly,the abnormal biomarkers were significantly subdued in individuals who had been immunized by 2 or 3 doses of SARS-CoV-2 prototypeinactivated vaccines,supporting the estimation of an overall 96.02% of protection rate against severe/critical disease in the 4854 cases in our BA.2.2 patient cohort with traceable vaccination records.Furthermore,even though age was a critical risk factor of the severity of COVID-19 post BA.2.2 infection,vaccination-elicited protection against severe/critical COVID-19 reached 90.15% in patients aged≥60 years old.Together,our study delineates the pathophysiological features of Omicron BA.2.2 sublineages and demonstrates significant protection conferred by prior prototype-based inactivated vaccines. | Ziyu Fu Dongguo Liang Wei Zhang Dongling Shi Yuhua Ma Dong Wei Junxiang Xi Sizhe Yang Xiaoguang Xu Di Tian Zhaoqing Zhu Mingquan Guo Lu Jiang Shuting Yu Shuai Wang Fangyin Jiang Yun Ling Shengyue Wang Saijuan Chen Feng Liu Yun Tan Xiaohong Fan | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,3: | 1 |
| 9 | Bone metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma:facts and hopes from clinical and translational perspectives显示文摘Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and bone metastasis(BM)suffer from greatly reduced life quality and a dismal prognosis.However,BM in HCC has long been overlooked possibly due to its relatively low prevalence in previous decades.To date,no consensus or guidelines have been reached or formulated for the prevention and management of HCC BM.Our narrative review manifests the increasing incidence of HCC BM to sound the alarm for additional attention.The risk factors,diagnosis,prognosis,and therapeutic approaches of HCC BM are detailed to provide a panoramic view of this disease to clinicians and specialists.We further delineate an informative cancer bone metastatic cascade based on evidence from recent studies and point out the main factors responsible for the tumor-associated disruption of bone homeostasis and the formation of skeletal cancer lesions.We also present the advances in the pathological and molecular mechanisms of HCC BM to shed light on translational opportunities.Dilemmas and challenges in the treatment and investigation of HCC BM are outlined and discussed to encourage further endeavors in the exploration of underlying pathogenic and molecular mechanisms,as well as the development of novel effective therapies for HCC patients with BM. | Zhao Huang Jingyuan Wen Yufei Wang Shenqi Han Zhen Li Xuemei Hu Dongling Zhu Zhenxiong Wang Junnan Liang Huifang Liang Xiao-ping Chen Bixiang Zhang | 2022 | Frontiers of Medicine2022,16,4: | 0 |
