1Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. 2An Examination of the Predictability of Tropical Cyclone Genesis in High-Resolution Coupled Models with Dynamically Downscaled Coupled Data Assimilation Initialization显示文摘Predicting tropical cyclone(TC)genesis is of great societal importance but scientifically challenging.It requires fineresolution coupled models that properly represent air−sea interactions in the atmospheric responses to local warm sea surface temperatures and feedbacks,with aid from coherent coupled initialization.This study uses three sets of highresolution regional coupled models(RCMs)covering the Asia−Pacific(AP)region initialized with local observations and dynamically downscaled coupled data assimilation to evaluate the predictability of TC genesis in the West Pacific.The APRCMs consist of three sets of high-resolution configurations of the Weather Research and Forecasting−Regional Ocean Model System(WRF-ROMS):27-km WRF with 9-km ROMS,and 9-km WRF with 3-km ROMS.In this study,a 9-km WRF with 9-km ROMS coupled model system is also used in a case test for the predictability of TC genesis.Since the local sea surface temperatures and wind shear conditions that favor TC formation are better resolved,the enhanced-resolution coupled model tends to improve the predictability of TC genesis,which could be further improved by improving planetary boundary layer physics,thus resolving better air−sea and air−land interactions.Mingkui LI Shaoqing ZHANG Lixin WU Xiaopei LIN Ping CHANG Gohkan DANABASOGLU Zhiqiang WEI Xiaolin YU Huiqin HU Xiaohui MA Weiwei MA Haoran ZHAO Dongning JIA Xin LIU Kai MAO Youwei MA Yingjing JIANG Xue WANG Guangliang LIU Yuhu CHEN 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,9:4
3Effects of minocycline on apoptosis and angiogenesis-related protein expression in a rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage显示文摘In the present study, a rat model of non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage was established by type IV collagenase injection into the right globus pallidus. Bax and Bcl-2 expression in tissues surrounding hematomas was significantly increased within 14 days after injury, and it then gradually decreased. Vascular endothelial growth factor, Flk-1 and Flt-1 mRNA expression gradually increased over time. After intraperitoneal injection with minocycline, Bax expression was decreased 1 day after intracerebral hemorrhage. Flk-1 and Flt-1 mRNA expression was decreased after minocycline injection, but Bcl-2 expression was increased, and vascular endothelial growth factor mRNA expression was decreased between 4-14 days. These results indicated that protective effects of minocycline on nerve tissues were associated with increased Bcl-2 expression and decreased Bax expression in the early stage after intracerebral hemorrhage. 9Photonic-reconfigurable entanglement distribution network based on silicon quantum photonics显示文摘The entanglement distribution network connects remote users by sharing entanglement resources,which is essential for realizing quantum internet.We propose a photonic-reconfigurable entanglement distribution network(PR-EDN)based on a silicon quantum photonic chip.The entanglement resources are generated by a quantum light source array based on spontaneous four-wave mixing in silicon waveguides and distributed to different users through time-reversed Hong–Ou–Mandel interference by on-chip Mach–Zehnder interferometers with thermo-optic phase shifters(TOPSs).A chip sample is designed and fabricated,supporting a PR-EDN with3 subnets and 24 users.The network topology of the PR-EDN could be reconfigured in three network states by controlling the quantum interference through the TOPSs,which is demonstrated experimentally.Furthermore,a reconfigurable entanglement-based quantum key distribution network is realized as an application of the PR-EDN.The reconfigurable network topology makes the PR-EDN suitable for future quantum networks requiring complicated network control and management.Moreover,it is also shown that silicon quantum photonic chips have great potential for large-scale PR-EDN,thanks to their capacities for generating and manipulating plenty of entanglement resources.DONGNING LIU JINGYUAN LIU XIAOSONG REN XUE FENG FANG LIU KAIYU CUI YIDONG HUANG WEI ZHANG 2023Photonics Research2023,11,7:0
10The role of organic and inorganic substituents of roxarsone determines its binding behavior and mechanisms onto nano-ferrihydrite colloidal particles显示文摘The retention and fate of Roxarsone(ROX)onto typical reactive soil minerals were crucial for evaluating its potential environmental risk.However,the behavior and molecular-level reaction mechanism of ROX and its substituents with iron(hydr)oxides remains unclear.Herein,the binding behavior of ROX on ferrihydrite(Fh)was investigated through batch experiments and in-situ ATR-FTIR techniques.Our results demonstrated that Fh is an effective geo-sorbent for the retention of ROX.The pseudo-second-order kinetic and the Langmuir model successfully described the sorption process.The driving force for the binding of ROX on Fh was ascribed to the chemical adsorption,and the rate-limiting step is simultaneously dominated by intraparticle and film diffusion.Isotherms results revealed that the sorption of ROX onto Fh appeared in uniformly distributed monolayer adsorption sites.The twodimensional correlation spectroscopy and XPS results implied that the nitro,hydroxyl,and arsenate moiety of ROX molecules have participated in binding ROX onto Fh,signifying that the predominated mechanisms were attributed to the hydrogen bonding and surface complexation.Our results can help to better understand the ROX-mineral interactions at the molecular level and lay the foundation for exploring the degradation,transformation,and remediation technologies of ROX and structural analog pollutants in the environment.Ming Lei Yayuan Huang Yimin Zhou Caleb Oppong Mensah Dongning Wei Bingyu Li 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,7:0
