| 1 | Composition, source, mass closure of PM_(2.5) aerosols for four forests in eastern China显示文摘PM2.5 aerosols were collected in forests along north latitude in boreal-temperate, temperate, subtropical and tropical climatic zones in eastern China, i.e., Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve (CB), Dongping National Forest Park in Chongming Island (CM), Dinghu Mountain Nature Reserve (DH), Jianfengling Nature Reserve in Hainan Island (HN). The mass concentrations of PM2.5, organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), water soluble organic carbon (WSOC) as well as concentrations of ten inorganic ions (F-, Cl-, NO3-, SO42-, C2O42-, NH4+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+) were determined. Aerosol chemical mass closures were achieved. The 24-hr average concentrations of PM2.5 were 38.8, 89.2, 30.4, 18 μg/m3 at CB, CM, DH and HN, respectively. Organic matter and EC accounted for 21%-33% and 1.3%-2.3% of PM2.5 mass, respectively. The sum of three dominant secondary ions (SO42-, NO3-, NH4+) accounted for 44%, 50%, 45% and 16% of local PM2.5 mass at CB, CM, DH and HN, respectively. WSOC comprised 35%-65% of OC. | 2 | Complementation of Wild-Type and Drug-Resistant Hepatitis B Virus Genomes to Maintain Viral Replication and Rescue Virion Production under Nucleos(t)ide Analogs显示文摘As the open reading frames of hepatitis B virus(HBV)genomes are overlapping,resistance mutations(MTs)in HBV polymerase may result in stop codon MTs in hepatitis B surface proteins,which are usually detected as a mixed population with wild-type(WT)HBV.The question was raised how the coexistence of nucleos(t)ide analogs(NAs)resistance MTs and WT sequences affects HBV replication.In the present study,HBV genomes with frequently detected reverse transcriptase(RT)/surface truncation MTs,rtA181T/sW172^*,rtV191I/sW182^*and rtM204I/sW196^*,were phenotypically characterized alone or together with their WT counterparts in different ratios by transient transfection in the absence or presence of Nas.In the absence of Nas,RT/surface truncation MTs impaired the expression and secretion of HBV surface proteins,and had a dose-dependent negative effect on WT HBV virion secretion.However,in the presence of Nas,coexistence of MTs with WT maintained viral replication,and the presence of WT was able to rescue the production of MT HBV virions.Our findings reveal that complementation of WT and MT HBV genomes is highly effective under drug treatment. | Chunchen Wu Baolin Li Xiaoyong Zhang Kaitao Zhao Yingshan Chen Yifei Yuan Yan Liu Rongjuan Chen Dongping Xu Xinwen Chen Mengji Lu | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019,34,4: | 4 |

| 5 | Model predictive control of rigid spacecraft with two variable speed control moment gyroscopes显示文摘In this paper, an attitude maneuver control problem is investigated for a rigid spacecraft using an array of two variable speed control moment gyroscopes(VSCMGs)with gimbal axes skewed to each other. A mathematical model is constructed by taking the spacecraft and the gyroscopes together as an integrated system, with the coupling interaction between them considered. To overcome the singular issues of the VSCMGs due to the conventional torque-based method, the first-order derivative of gimbal rates and the second-order derivative of the rotor spinning velocity, instead of the gyroscope torques, are taken as input variables. Moreover, taking external disturbances into account,a feedback control law is designed for the system based on a method of nonlinear model predictive control(NMPC). | 6 | MAP3K2 augments Th1 cell differentiation via IL-18 to promote T cell-mediated colitis显示文摘T cell-mediated immunity in the intestine is stringently controlled to ensure proper immunity against pathogenic microbes and to prevent autoimmunity,a known cause of inflammatory bowel disease.However,precisely how T cells regulate intestine immunity remains to be fully understood.In this study,we found that mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 2(MAP3K2)is required for the CD4^(+)T cell-mediated inflammation in the intestine.Using a T cell transfer colitis model,we found that MAP3K2-deficient naïve CD4^(+)T cells had a dramatically reduced ability to induce colitis compared to wild type T cells.In addition,significantly fewer IFN-γ-but more IL-17A-producing CD4^(+)T cells in the intestines of mice receiving MAP3K2-deficient T cells than in those from mice receiving wild type T cells was observed.Interestingly,under well-defined in vitro differentiation conditions,MAP3K2-deficient naïve T cells were not impaired in their ability to differentiate into Th1,Th17 and Treg.Furthermore,the MAP3K2-regulated colitis severity was mediated by Th1 but not Th17 cells in the intestine.At the molecular level,we showed that MAP3K2-mediated Th1 cell differentiation in the intestine was regulated by IL-18 and required specific JNK activation.Together,our study reveals a novel regulatory role of MAP3K2 in intestinal T cell immunity via the IL-18-MAP3K2-JNK axis and may provide a novel target for intervention in T cell-mediated colitis. | Ningbo Wu Dongping Chen Hongxiang Sun Jianmei Tan Yao Zhang Tianyu Zhang Yuheng Han Hongzhi Liu Xinxing Ouyang Xiao-Dong Yang Xiaoyin Niu Jie Zhong Zhengting Wang Bing Su | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,3: | 3 |

| 8 | Tamoxifen attenuates reactive astrocyte-induced brain metastasis and drug resistance through the IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway显示文摘Brain metastasis affects approxim ately 20%-30%of patients w ith triple-negative breast cancers(TNBCs).Even sm all metastatic lesions in the brain can trigg er severe neurological im pairm ents and result in extrem ely short survival time.Recently,active astrocytes were reported to be associated w ith brain metastases.However,how activated astrocytes regulate the behaviors of disseminated breast cancer cells in the brain remains unknown.In this study,human prim ary astrocytes were stim ulated w ith IL-1β to form active astrocytes to study the cross-talk between strom al cells(astrocytes)and TNBC cells in brain metastases.Our results showed that active astrocytes significantly increase the m alignancy of TNBC cells and prevent them from undergoing apoptosis caused by doxorubicin.We also found that the high level of IL-6 secreted by activated astrocytes was responsible for the drug resistance of breast cancer,which could be abolished by treatm ent of astrocytes with tam oxifen(TAM).The blockage of active astrocyte-derived IL-6 by a neutralizing antibody resulted in the attenuation of drug resistance,consequently enhancing the sensitivity of breast cancer cells to doxorubicin.Furthermore,the possible involved TAM-m odulated drug resistance mechanism may be associated with a decrease in IL-6 expression in astrocytes and the downregulation of MAPK and JAK2/STAT3 signaling in cancer cells.Our data suggested that TAMs might reduce drug resistance through the IL-6/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway,providing a possible therapy to treat brain metastasis in TNBCs,as estrogen receptor inhibitors(TAMs,etc.)can cross the blood-brain barrier. | Yongming Xu Yanrong Zhu Yong Yue Shaofeng Pu Junzhen Wu Yingying Lv Dongping Du | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,12: | 1 |

| 11 | Mechanosensitive Ion Channel TMEM63A Gangs Up with Local Macrophages to Modulate Chronic Post-amputation Pain显示文摘Post-amputation pain causes great sufering to amputees,but still no efective drugs are available due to its elusive mechanisms.Our previous clinical studies found that surgical removal or radiofrequency treatment of the neuroma at the axotomized nerve stump efectively relieves the phantom pain aficting patients after amputation.This indicated an essential role of the residual nerve stump in the formation of chronic post-amputation pain(CPAP).However,the molecular mechanism by which the residual nerve stump or neuroma is involved and regulates CPAP is still a mystery.In this study,we found that nociceptors expressed the mechanosensitive ion channel TMEM63A and macrophages infltrated into the dorsal root ganglion(DRG)neurons worked synergistically to promote CPAP.Histology and qRT-PCR showed that TMEM63A was mainly expressed in mechanical pain-producing non-peptidergic nociceptors in the DRG,and the expression of TMEM63A increased signifcantly both in the neuroma from amputated patients and the DRG in a mouse model of tibial nerve transfer(TNT).Behavioral tests showed that the mechanical,heat,and cold sensitivity were not afected in the Tmem63a-/-mice in the naïve state,suggesting the basal pain was not afected.In the infammatory and post-amputation state,the mechanical allodynia but not the heat hyperalgesia or cold allodynia was signifcantly decreased in Tmem63a-/-mice.Further study showed that there was severe neuronal injury and macrophage infltration in the DRG,tibial nerve,residual stump,and the neuromalike structure of the TNT mouse model,Consistent with this,expression of the pro-infammatory cytokines TNFα,IL-6,and IL-1βall increased dramatically in the DRG.Interestingly,the deletion of Tmem63a signifcantly reduced the macrophage infltration in the DRG but not in the tibial nerve stump.Furthermore,the ablation of macrophages signifcantly reduced both the expression of Tmem63a and the mechanical allodynia in the TNT mouse model,indicating an interaction between nociceptors and macrophages,and that these two factors gang up together to regulate the formation of CPAP.This provides a new insight into the mechanisms underlying CPAP and potential drug targets its treatment. | Shaofeng Pu Yiyang Wu Fang Tong Wan-Jie Du Shuai Liu Huan Yang Chen Zhang Bin Zhou Ziyue Chen Xiaomeng Zhou Qingjian Han Dongping Du | 2023 | Neuroscience Bulletin2023,39,2: | 1 |

| 13 | A novel cationic collector for silicon removal from collophane using reverse flotation under acidic conditions显示文摘We analyzed a novel cationic collector using chemical plant byproducts,such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and dibutyl phthalate(DBP).Our aim is to establish a highly effective and economical process for the removal of quartz from collophane.A microflotation test with a 25 mg·L^(−1)collector at pH value of 6-10 demonstrates a considerable difference in the floatability of pure quartz and fluorapatite.Flotation tests for a collophane sample subjected to the first reverse flotation for magnesium removal demonstrates that a rough flotation process(using a 0.4 kg·t−1 new collector at pH=6)results in a collophane concentrate with 29.33wt%P_(2)O_(5)grade and 12.66wt%SiO2 at a 79.69wt%P_(2)O_(5)recovery,providing desirable results.Mechanism studies using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,zeta potential,and contact angle measurements show that the adsorption capacity of the new collector for quartz is higher than that for fluorapatite.The synergistic effect of DBP increases the difference in hydrophobicity between quartz and fluorapatite.The maximum defoaming rate of the novel cationic collector reaches 142.8 mL·min−1.This is considerably higher than that of a conventional cationic collector. | Zhongxian Wu Dongping Tao Youjun Tao Man Jiang Patrick Zhang | 2023 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,6: | 1 |

| 19 | Experimental and modeling investigations on the unexpected hydrogen sulfide rebound in a sewer receiving nitrate addition: Mechanism and solution显示文摘Biogenic hydrogen sulfide is an odorous, toxic and corrosive gas released from sewage in sewers. To control sulfide generation and emission, nitrate is extensively applied in sewer systems for decades. However, the unexpected sulfide rebound after nitrate addition is being questioned in recent studies. Possible reasons for the sulfide rebounds have been studied,but the mechanism is still unclear, so the countermeasure is not yet proposed. In this study, a lab-scale sewer system was developed for investigating the unexpected sulfide rebounds via the traditional strategy of nitrate addition during 195-days of operation. It was observed that the sulfide pollution was even severe in a sewer receiving nitrate addition. The mechanism for the sulfide rebound can be differentiated into short-term and long-term effects based on the dominant contribution. The accumulation of intermediate elemental sulfur in biofilm resulted in a rapid sulfide rebound via the high-rate sulfur reduction after the depletion of nitrate in a short period. The presence of nitrate in sewer promoted the microorganism proliferation in biofilm, increased the biofilm thickness, re-shaped the microbial community and enhanced biological denitrification and sulfur production, which further weakened the effect of nitrate on sulfide control during the long-term operation. An optimized biofilminitiated sewer process model demonstrated that neither the intermittent nitrate addition nor the continuous nitrate addition was a sustainable strategy for the sulfide control.
