3Genistein suppresses the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway in hippocampal neurons in rats with Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Genistein is effective against amyloid-β toxicity,but the underlying mechanisms are unclear.We hypothesized that genistein may protect neurons by inhibiting the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway,and thereby play a role in the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.A rat model of Alzheimer's disease was established by intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose and intracerebral injection of amyloid-β peptide(25–35).In the genistein treatment groups,a 7-day pretreatment with genistein(10,30,90 mg/kg) was given prior to establishing Alzheimer's disease model,for 49 consecutive days.Terminal deoxyribonucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick end labeling assay demonstrated a reduction in apoptosis in the hippocampus of rats treated with genistein.Western blot analysis showed that expression levels of capase-3,Bax and cytochrome c were decreased compared with the model group.Furthermore,immunohistochemical staining revealed reductions in cytochrome c and Bax immunoreactivity in these rats.Morris water maze revealed a substantial shortening of escape latency by genistein in Alzheimer's disease rats.These findings suggest that genistein decreases neuronal loss in the hippocampus,and improves learning and memory ability.The neuroprotective effects of genistein are associated with the inhibition of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway,as shown by its ability to reduce levels of caspase-3,Bax and cytochrome c.Yan Wang Biao Cai Jing Sha Ting-ting Wang Run-ze Cai Chang-ju Ma Tao Han Jun Du 2016Neural Regeneration Research2016,11,7:12

5Methodology development and application of X-ray imaging beamline at SSRF显示文摘This paper introduces some latest developments regarding the X-ray imaging methodology and applications of the X-ray imaging and biomedical application beamline(BL13W1)at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility in the past 5 years.The photon energy range of the beamline is 8–72.5 keV.Several sets of X-ray imaging detectors with different pixel sizes(0.19–24 lm)are used to realize X-ray microcomputed tomography(X-ray micro-CT)and X-ray in-line phase-contrast imaging.To satisfy the requirements of user experiments,new X-ray imaging methods and image processing techniques are developed.In vivo dynamic micro-CT experiments with living insects are performed in 0.5 s(sampling rate of 2 Hz,2 tomograms/s)with a monochromatic beam from a wiggler source and in 40 ms(sampling rate of 25 Hz,25 tomograms/s)with a white beam from a bending magnet source.A new X-ray imaging method known as move contrast X-ray imaging is proposed,with which blood flow and moving tissues in raw images can be distinguished according to their moving frequencies in the time domain.Furthermore,X-ray speckle-tracking imaging with twice exposures to eliminate the edge enhancement effect is developed.A high-precision quantification method is realized to measure complex three-dimensional blood vessels obtained via X-ray micro-CT.X-ray imaging methods such as three-dimensional X-ray diffraction microscopy,small-angle X-ray scattering CT,and X-ray fluorescence CT are developed,in which the X-ray micro-CT imaging method is combined with other contrast mechanisms such as diffraction,scattering,and fluorescence contrasts respectively.Moreover,an X-ray nano-CT experiment is performed with a 100 nm spatial resolution.Typical user experimental results from the fields of material science,biomedicine,paleontology,physics,chemistry,and environmental science obtained on the beamline are provided.Hong-Lan Xie Biao Deng Guo-Hao Du Ya-Nan Fu Han Guo Yan-Ling Xue Guan-Yun Peng Fen Tao Ling Zhang Ti-Qiao Xiao 2020Nuclear Science and Techniques2020,31,10:7

9Novel hierarchical structure of MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composites for dramatically enhanced electromagnetic absorbing properties显示文摘In order to prevent the microwave leakage and mutual interference,more and more microwave absorbing devices are added into the design of electronic products to ensure its routine operation.In this work,we have successfully prepared MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) hierarchical composites by one-pot hydrothermal method and focused on the relationship between structures and electromagnetic absorbing properties.Supported by comprehensive characterizations,M0S_(2) nanosheets were proved to be anchored on the surface and interlayer of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) through a hydrothermal process.Additionally,TiO_(2) nanoparticles were obtained in situ.Due to these hierarchical structures,the MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composites showed greatly enhanced microwave absorbing performance.The MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composites exhibit a maximum reflection loss value of -33.5 dB at 10.24 GHz and the effective absorption bandwidth covers 3.1GHz(13.9-17 GHz)at the thickness of 1.0 mm,implying the features of wide frequency and light weight.This work in the hierarchical structure of MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composites opens a promising door to the exploration of constructing extraordinary electromagnetic wave absorbents.Heng DU Qipeng ZHANG Biao ZHAO Frank MARKEN Qiancheng GAO Hongxia LU Li GUAN Hailong WANG Gang SHAO Hongliang XU Rui ZHANG Bingbing FAN 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,5:4
10Facile synthesis of zinc-based organic framework for aqueous Hg (Ⅱ) removal: Adsorption performance and mechanism显示文摘Mercury(Hg)ions can lead to a serious impact on the environment;therefore,it was necessary to find an effective method for absorbing these toxic Hg ions.Here,the adsorbent(Zn-AHMT)was synthesized from zinc nitrate and 4-amino 3-hydrazine-5 mercapto-1,2,4-triazole(AHMT)by one-step method and,characterized the microstruc-ture and absorption performance by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunauer-Emmett Teller(BET),Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer(TGA)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Through a plethora of measurements,we found that the maximum adsorption capacity was 802.8 mg/g when the optimal pH of Zn-AHMT was 3.0.The isothermal and kinetic experiments confirm that the reaction process of Zn-AHMT was chemisorption,while the adsorption process conforms to the Hill model and pseudo second order kinetic model.Thermodynamic experiments showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic.Selective experiments were performed in the simulated wastewater containing Mn,Mg,Cr,Al,Co,Ni,Hg ions.Our results showed that the Zn-AHMT has a stronger affinity for Hg ions.The removal rate of Zn-AHMT remained above 98%,indicating that the Zn-AHMT had a good stability validated by three adsorption-desorption repeatable tests.According to the XPS results,the adsorption reaction of Zn-AHMT was mainly attributed to the chelation and ion exchange.This was further explained by both density functional theory(DFT)calculation and frontier molecular orbital theory.We therefore propose the adsorption mechanism of Zn-AHMT.The adsorption reaction facilitates via the synergistic action of S and N atoms.Moreover,the bonding between the adsorbent and the N atom has been proved to be more stable.Our study demonstrated that Zn-AHMT had a promising application prospect in mercury removal.Biao Zeng Wei Wang Sijin He Guo Lin Wenjia Du Jun Chang Zhao Ding 2021Nano Materials Science2021,3,4:3
11Self-Healing Liquid Metal Magnetic Hydrogels for Smart Feedback Sensors and High-Performance Electromagnetic Shielding显示文摘Hydrogels exhibit potential applications in smart wearable devices because of their exceptional sensitivity to various external stimuli.However,their applications are limited by challenges in terms of issues in biocompatibility,custom shape,and self-healing.Herein,a conductive,stretchable,adaptable,self-healing,and biocompatible liquid metal GaInSn/Ni-based composite hydrogel is developed by incorporating a magnetic liquid metal into the hydrogel framework through crosslinking polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)with sodium tetraborate.The excellent stretchability and fast self-healing capability of the PVA/liquid metal hydrogel are derived from its abundant hydrogen binding sites and liquid metal fusion.Significantly,owing to the magnetic constituent,the PVA/liquid metal hydrogel can be guided remotely using an external magnetic field to a specific position to repair the broken wires with no need for manual operation.The composite hydrogel also exhibits sensitive deformation responses and can be used as a strain sensor to monitor various body motions.Additionally,the multifunctional hydrogel displays absorption-dominated electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding properties.The total shielding performance of the composite hydrogel increases to~62.5 dB from~31.8 dB of the pure PVA hydrogel at the thickness of 3.0 mm.The proposed bioinspired multifunctional magnetic hydrogel demonstrates substantial application potential in the field of intelligent wearable devices.Biao Zhao Zhongyi Bai Hualiang Lv Zhikai Yan Yiqian Du Xiaoqin Guo Jincang Zhang Limin Wu Jiushuai Deng David Wei Zhang Renchao Che 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,6:3

14Structure-dependent electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of bowl-like and honeycomb TiO_(2)/CNT composites显示文摘Materials that can efficiently absorb electromagnetic waves(EMWs)are required to deal with electromagnetic pollution.Structure design appears to be an efficient way to improve the EMW-absorption performance of such materials,particularly when adjustment of the constitution or mixing ratio is limited.In this study,bowl-like and honeycomb titanium dioxide/carbon nanotube(TiO_(2)/CNT)composites with different CNT contents were fabricated using the methods of hierarchical and mixing vacuum-assisted filtration,respectively.Compared to the honeycomb structure,the bowl-like structure simultaneously facilitated greater interfacial polarization and conduction loss in favor of dielectric polarization,and augmented multiple reflections.The high porosity of the honeycomb structure was conducive to optimizing the impedance matching characteristics.The bowl-like TiO_(2)/CNT composite exhibited a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-38.6 dB(1.5 mm)with a wide effective absorption band(EAB;<-10 dB)of4.2 GHz,while the honeycomb TiO_(2)/CNT composite showed an RLminof-34.8 dB(2.1 mm)with an EAB of 4.3 GHz.The required mixing ratio in the matrix was only 15 wt%,outperforming that of the most closely related composites.Thus,both the bowl-like and honeycomb TiO_(2)/CNT composites are ideal candidates for light-weight and highly efficient EMW-absorbing materials.Hua Jian Qinrui Du Qiaoqiao Men Li Guan Ruosong Li Bingbing Fan Xin Zhang Xiaoqin Guo Biao Zhao Rui Zhang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,14:2
15X-ray fluorescence microtomography based on polycapillary- focused X-rays from laboratory source显示文摘X-ray fluorescence microtomography(μXFCT)is a nondestructive analytical technique and has been widely used to nondestructively detect and quantify the elemental composition and distributions in samples. Usually, synchrotron radiation X-rays are used for μXFCT, due to its high flux density. In this paper, a laboratory-sourcebased μXFCT system was developed, in which a polycapillary lens is employed to focus the X-ray beam and improve the flux density. The maximum likelihood expectation maximization algorithm was used to reconstruct the computed tomography slices at a limited number of projections. 16CircTUBD1 Regulates Radiation-induced Liver Fibrosis Response via a circTUBD1/micro-203a-3p/Smad3 Positive Feedback Loop显示文摘Background and Aims: Radiation-induced liver fibrosis (RILF), delayed damage to the liver (post-irradiation) re-mains a major challenge for the radiotherapy of liver ma-lignancies. This study investigated the potential function and mechanism of circTUBD1 in the development of RILF. Methods: By using a dual luciferase assay, RNA pull- down assays, RNA sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipi-tation (known as ChIP) assays, and a series of gain- or loss-of-function experiments, it was found that circTUBD1 regulated the activation and fibrosis response of LX-2 cells induced by irradiation via a circTUBD1/micro-203a-3p/ Smad3 positive feedback loop in a 3D system. Results: Knockdown of circTUBD1 not only reduced the expression of α-SMA, as a marker of LX-2 cell activation, but also significantly decreased the levels of hepatic fibrosis mol-ecules, collagen type I alpha 1 (COL1A1), collagen type III alpha 1 (COL3A1), and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in a three-dimensional (3D) culture system and RILF model in vivo. Notably, knockdown of circTUBD1 al-leviated early liver fibrosis induced by irradiation in mice models. 18Compare the epidemiological and clinical features of imported and local COVID-19 cases in Hainan, China显示文摘Background:Effective management of imported cases is an important part of epidemic prevention and control.Hainan Province,China reported 168 coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),including 112 imported cases on February 19,2020,but successfully contained the epidemic within 1 month.We described the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in Hainan and compared these features between imported and local cases to provide information for other international epidemic areas.Methods:We included 91 patients(56 imported and 35 local cases)from two designated hospitals for COVID-19 in Haikou,China,from January 20 to February 19,2020.Data on the demographic,epidemiological,clinical and laboratory characteristics were extracted from medical records.Patients were followed until April 21,2020,and the levels of antibodies at the follow-ups were also analysed by the Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed ranks test.Results:Of the 91 patients,78(85.7%)patients were diagnosed within the first three weeks after the first case was identified(Day 1:Jan 22,2020),while the number of local cases started to increase during the third week No new cases occurred after Day 29.Fever and cough were two main clinical manifestations.In total,15(16.5%)patients were severe,14(15.4%)had complicated infections,nine(9.9%)were admitted to the intensive care unit,and three died.The median duration of viral shedding in feces was longer than that in nasopharyngeal swabs(19 days vs 16 days,P=0.007).Compared with local cases,imported cases were older and had a higher incidence of fever and concurrent infections.There was no difference in outcomes between the two groups.IgG was positive in 92.8%patients(77/83)in the follow-up at week 2 after discharge,while 88.4%patients(38/43)had a reduction in IgG levels in the follow-up at week 4 after discharge,and the median level was lower than that in the follow-up at week 2(10.95 S/Cut Off(S/CO)vs 15.02 S/CO,P<0.001).Conclusion:Imported cases were more severe than local cases but had similar prognoses.The level of IgG antibodies declined from week 6 to week 8 after onset.The short epidemic period in Hainan suggests that the epidemic could be quickly brought under control if proper timely measures were taken.Biao Wu Zi-Ying Lei Kun-Liang Wu Jian-Rong He Hui-Juan Cao Juan Fu Feng Chen Yuan Chen Bao Chen Xiao-Li Zhou Tao Huang Tao Wu Yong-Guo Du Suo-Xian Chen Fu-Rong Xiao Zhi-Liang Gao Jing He Feng Lin Bing-Liang Lin 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,5:2
