| 1 | Dihydromyricetin-mediated inhibition of the Notch1 pathway induces apoptosis in QGY7701 and Hep G2 hepatoma cells显示文摘AIM To investigate whether Dihydromyricetin(DHM) inhibits cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis by downregulating Notch1 expression.METHODS The correlation between Notch1 and Hes1(a Notch1 target molecule) expression in hepatoma samples was confirmed by q RT-PCR. In addition, MTT assays, flow cytometry and TUNEL analysis showed that DHM possessed strong anti-tumor properties, evidenced not only by reduced cell proliferation but also by enhanced apoptosis in QGY7701 and Hep G2 hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cells. The expressions of Notch1, Hes1, Bcl-2 and Bax were determined by Western blot.RESULTS Among the tested samples(n = 64), the expression levels of Notch1(75% of patients) and Hes1(79.7% of patients) m RNA in tumor tissues were higher than in the normal liver tissues. There was a negative correlation between the expression of Notch1 and the degree of differentiation and positively correlated with the Alpha Fetal Protein concentration. The viability of HCC cells treated with DHM was significantly inhibited in a dose and time-dependent manner. Apoptosis was induced in Hep G2 and QGY7701 cell lines following 24 h of DHM treatment. After treatment with DHM, the protein expression of Notch1 was downregulated, the apoptosis-related protein Bax was upregulated and Bcl2 was downregulated. Notch1 si RNA further enhanced the anti-tumor properties of DHM. | 2 | Designing solid-state interfaces on lithium-metal anodes: a review显示文摘Li-metal anodes are one of the most promising energy storage systems that can considerably exceed the current technology to meet the ever-increasing demand of power applications. The apparent cycling performances and dendrite challenges of Li-metal anodes are highly influenced by the interface layer on the Li-metal anode because the intrinsic high reactivity of metallic Li results in an inevitable solid-state interface layer between the Li-metal and electrolytes. In this review, we summarize the recent progress on the interfacial chemistry regarding the interactions between electrolytes and ion migration through dynamic interfaces. The critical factors that affect the interface formation for constructing a stable interface with a low resistance are reviewed. Moreover, we review emerging strategies for rationally designing multiple-structured solid-state electrolytes and their interfaces, including the interfacial properties within hybrid electrolytes and the solid electrolyte/electrode interface. | 4 | Effect of CO_2 Enrichment on the Growth and Nutrient Uptake of Tomato Seedlings显示文摘Exposing tomato seedlings to elevated CO2 concentrations may have potentially profound impacts on the tomato yield and quality. A growth chamber experiment was designed to estimate how different nutrient concentrations influenced the effect of elevated CO2 on the growth and nutrient uptake of tomato seedlings. Tomato (Hezuo 906) was grown in pots placed in controlled growth chambers and was subjected to ambient or elevated CO2 (360 or 720μL L-1) and four nutrient solutions of different strengths (1/2-, 1/4-, 1/8-, and 1/16-strength Japan Yamazaki nutrient solutions) in a completely randomized design. The results indicated that some agricultural characteristics of the tomato seedlings such as the plant height, stem thickness, total dry and fresh weights of the leaves, stems and roots, the G value (G value = total plant dry weight/seedling age), and the seedling vigor index (seedling vigor index = stem thickness/(plant height×total plant dry weight) increased with the elevated CO2, and the increases were strongly dependent on the nutrient solution concentrations, being greater with higher nutrient solution concentrations. The elevated CO2 did not alter the ratio of root to shoot. The total N, P, K, and C absorbed from all the solutions except P in the 1/8- and 1/16-strength nutrient solutions increased in the elevated CO2 treatment. | 7 | Effects of 24-Epibrassinolide on Antioxidant System in Cucumber Seedling Roots Under Hypoxia Stress显示文摘This article aims to study the effects of exogenous 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on the changes in ROS, activities of antioxidative enzymes and antioxidants in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) seedling roots under hypoxia stress. Seedlings of a hypoxia- resistant cultivar, Lübachun 4, and a hypoxia-sensitive cultivar, Zhongnong 8, were hydroponically grown for 8 d in normoxic or hypoxic nutrient solutions that were added or not added with 10-3 mg L-1 EBR. Under hypoxia stress, the ROS levels and the lipid peroxidation were significantly increased in the roots upon exposure to hypoxia stress, which were inhibited by EBR application. The EBR treatment significantly increased the seedlings growth and SOD, APX, GR activities, and contents of AsA and GSH under hypoxia stress. | 11 | Impacts of smoking status on the clinical outcomes of coronary non-target lesions in patients with coronary heart disease:a single-center angiographic study显示文摘Background:Coronary atherosclerotic plaque could go through rapid progression and induce adverse cardiac events.This study aimed to evaluate the impacts of smoking status on clinical outcomes of coronary non-target lesions.Methods:Consecutive patients with coronary heart disease who underwent two serial coronary angiographies were included.All coronary non-target lesions were recorded at first coronary angiography and analyzed using quantitative coronary angiography at both procedures.Patients were grouped into non-smokers,quitters,and smokers according to their smoking status.Clinical outcomes including rapid lesion progression,lesion re-vascularization,and myocardial infarction were recorded at second coronary angiography.Multivariable Cox regression analysis was used to investigate the association between smoking status and clinical outcomes.Results:A total of 1255 patients and 1670 lesions were included.Smokers were younger and more likely to be male compared with nonsmokers.Increase in percent diameter stenosis was significantly lower(2.7[0.6,7.1]%vs.3.5[0.9,8.9]%)and 3.4[1.1,7.7]%,P=0.020)in quitters than those in smokers and non-smokers.Quitters tended to have a decreased incidence of rapid lesions progression(15.8%[76/482]vs.21.6%[74/342]and 20.6%[89/431],P=0.062),lesion re-vascularization(13.1%[63/482]vs.15.5%[53/432]and 15.5%[67/431],P=0.448),lesion-related myocardial infarction(0.8%[4/482]vs.2.6%[9/342]and 1.4%[6/431],P=0.110)and all-cause myocardial infarction(1.9%[9/482]vs.4.1%[14/342]and 2.3%[10/431],P=0.128)compared with smokers and non-smokers.In multivariable analysis,smoking status was not an independent predictor for rapid lesion progression,lesion re-vascularization,and lesion-related myocardial infarction except that a higher risk of all-cause myocardial infarction was observed in smokers than non-smokers(hazards ratio:3.00,95%confidence interval:1.04-8.62,P=0.042).Conclusion:Smoking cessation mitigates the increase in percent diameter stenosis of coronary non-target lesions,meanwhile,smokers are associated with increased risk for all-cause myocardial infarction compared with non-smokers. | Hao-Bo Xu Juan Wang Ji-Lin Chen Chao Guo Jian-Song Yuan Xin Duan Feng-Huan Hu Wei-Xian Yang Xiao-Liang Luo Rong Liu Jin-Gang Cui Sheng-Wen Liu Xiao-Jin Gao Yu-Shi Chun Shu-Bin Qiao | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,19: | 5 |
| 12 | Inhibition of Magnolol and Honokiol on Cytochrome P450 Enzymes in Rat and Human Liver Microsomes显示文摘Objective The purpose of this work is to evaluate the in vitro inhibitory effect of magnolol(MN) and honokiol(HN) on rat / human cytochrome P450(CYP) enzymes(1A2/1A2, 2D/2D6, 3A/3A4, 2E1/2E1, and 2C/2C9). Methods Rat liver microsomes(RLM) and human liver microsomes(HLM) were used as the enzyme sources. After the probe substrate of each CYP isoforms was co-incubated individually with MN or HN in RLM or HLM, the metabolite production of each probe substrate in RLM and HLM incubation medium was determined and used to evaluate the activity of corresponding CYP isoforms. Results MN inhibited rat CYP1A2 and human CYP3A4 with the IC50 values of 10.0 and 56.2 μmol/L, respectively. HN inhibited rat CYP1A2 and CYP2E1, human CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 with the IC50 values of 12.1, 12.6, 17.8, and 43.9 μmol/L, respectively. Conclusion HN is a moderate or weak inhibitor of human CYP1A2. Both MN and HN are weak or non inhibitors of the other tested human CYP isoforms. | 19 | Cloud Classification and Distribution of Cloud Types in Beijing Using Ka-Band Radar Data显示文摘A cloud clustering and classification algorithm is developed for a ground-based Ka-band radar system in the vertically pointing mode. Cloud profiles are grouped based on the combination of a time–height clustering method and the k-means clustering method. The cloud classification algorithm, developed using a fuzzy logic method, uses nine physical parameters to classify clouds into nine types: cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, altocumulus, altostratus, stratus, stratocumulus, nimbostratus,cumulus or cumulonimbus. The performance of the clustering and classification algorithm is presented by comparison with all-sky images taken from January to June 2014. Overall, 92% of the cloud profiles are clustered successfully and the agreement in classification between the radar system and the all-sky imager is 87%. The distribution of cloud types in Beijing from January 2014 to December 2017 is studied based on the clustering and classification algorithm. The statistics show that cirrostratus clouds have the highest occurrence frequency(24%) among the nine cloud types.
