| 1 | Systematic review of health-related quality of life after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer显示文摘This study is aimed to assess the long-term health-related quality of life(HRQL) of patients after esopha-gectomy for esophageal cancer in comparison with es-tablished norms,and to evaluate changes in HRQL during the different stages of follow-up after esopha-geal resection. A systematic review was performed bysearching medical databases(Medline,Embase andthe Cochrane Library) for potentially relevant studiesthat appeared between January 1975 and March 2011.Studies were included if they addressed the questionof HRQL after esophageal resection for esophage alcancer. Two researchers independently performed the study selection,data extraction and analysis processes.Twenty-one observational studies were included witha total of 1282(12-355) patients. Five studies were performed with short form-36(SF-36) and 16 with European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC) QLQ C30(14 of them also utilized the disease-specific OES18 or its previous version OES24) .The analysis of long-term generic HRQL with SF-36showed pooled scores for physical,role and socialfunction after esophagectomy similar to United Statesnorms,but lower pooled scores for physical function,vitality and general health perception. The analysis of HRQL conducted using the Global EORTC C30 globalscale during a 6-mo follow-up showed that global scaleand physical function were better at the baseline. The symptom scales indicated worsened fatigue,dyspneaand diarrhea 6 mo after esophagectomy. In contrast,however,emotional function had significantly improved after 6 mo. In conclusion,short- and long-term HRQLis deeply affected after esophagectomy for cancer. The impairment of physical function may be a long-termconsequence of esophagectomy involving either the respiratory system or the alimentary tract. | 2 | Quality of life in patients with esophageal stenting for the palliation of malignant dysphagia显示文摘Incidence of esophageal cancer(EC) is rising more rapidly in the Western world than that of any other cancer. Despite advances in therapy,more than 50% of patients have incurable disease at the time of presentation.This precludes curative treatment and makes palliative treatment a more realistic option for most of these patients. Dysphagia is the predominant symptom in more than 70% of patients with EC and although several management options have been developed in recent years to palliate this symptom,the optimum management is not established.Self-expanding metal stents(SEMS) are a well-established palliation modality for dysphagia in such patients.Health-related quality of life(HRQoL) is becoming a major issue in the evaluation of any therapeuticor palliative intervention.To date,only a few published studies can be found on Medline examining HRQoL in patients with advanced EC treated with SEMS implantation.The aim of this study was to review the impact on HRQoL of SEMS implantation as palliative treatment in patients with EC.All Medline articles regarding HRQoL in patients with advanced EC,particularly those related to SEMS,were reviewed.In most studies,relief of dysphagia was the only aspect of HRQoL being measured and SEMS implantation was compared with other palliative treatments such as brachytherapy and laser therapy. | 3 | Effect of Long-Term Soil Management on the Mutual Interaction Among Soil Organic Matter, Microbial Activity and Aggregate Stability in a Vineyard显示文摘Vineyard management practices to enhance soil conservation principally focus on increasing carbon(C)input,whereas mitigating impacts of disturbance through reduced tillage has been rarely considered.Furthermore,information is lacking on the effects of soil management practices adopted in the under-vine zone on soil conservation.In this work,we evaluated the long-term effects(22 years)of alley with a sown cover crop and no-tillage(S+NT),alley with a sown cover crop and tillage(S+T),and under-vine zone with no vegetation and tillage(UV)on soil organic matter(SOM),microbial activity,aggregate stability,and their mutual interactions in a California vineyard in USA.Vegetation biomass,microbial biomass and activity,organic C and nitrogen(N)pools,and SOM size fractionation and aggregate stability were analysed.Soil characteristics only partially reflected the differences in vegetation biomass input.Organic C and N pools and microbial biomass/activity in S+NT were higher than those in S+T,while the values in UV were intermediate between the other two treatments.Furthermore,S+NT also exhibited higher particulate organic matter C in soil.No differences were found in POM C between S+T and UV,but the POM fraction in S+T was characterized by fresher material.Aggregate stability was decreased in the order:S+NT>UV>S+T.Tillage,even if shallow and performed infrequently,had a negative effect on organic C and N pools and aggregate stability.Consequently,the combination of a sown cover crop and reduced tillage still limited SOM accumulation and reduced aggregate stability in the surface soil layer of vineyards,suggesting relatively lower resistance of soils to erosion compared to no-till systems. | Sergio A.BELMONTE Luisella CELI Ruby J.STAHEL Eleonora BONIFACIO Vittorino NOVELLO Ermanno ZANINI Kerri L.STEENWERTH | 2018 | Pedosphere2018，28，2： | 3 |
