1Evaluating the reliability of microsatellite genotyping from low-quality DNA templates with a polynomial distribution model显示文摘Molecular studies using trace DNA, such as from museum specimens, ancient or forensic samples and samples obtained noninvasively, often have a common problem of low quality of DNA templates. Amplification errors, such as allelic dropout and false allele, may arise during polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using such samples. A mathematical model which treats homozygotes and heterozygotes discriminately has been developed to measure sample quality and compute the confidence level of using multipletube approaches. We use plucked hair samples collected from 26 individual Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus roxel- lana) to test the model. In this case, a confidence level of 99% can be achieved by three positive PCRs. If the sample quality is very poor and requires many PCR replicates, an alternative multiplestep genotyping method is recommended. 2Designing near-natural planting patterns for plantation forests in China显示文摘Background: China has a long tradition of managing planted forests. Different species of Populus, Eucalyptus, Larix, Cunninghamia and Pinus are planted to satisfy the local demand for wood products and provide ecological services at the same time. Evidence of the greater resilience of natural forests provides the motivation to develop asymmetric planting patterns, which is the focus of this study. We present a new method for designing plantation patterns that follow those observed in natural ecosystems and to maintain some regularity for operational convenience. Methods: Based on the uniform angle index, we analyzed the spatial structure of six natural forests in different regions of China. The uniform angle index describes the degree of spatial uniformity of the n nearest neighbors of a given reference tree. Accordingly, we identified all possible patterns of a neighborhood group within a regular planting pattern and developed a method to optimize planting point arrangements that contain some randomness as well as a minimum degree of regularity. Results:(1) There are 13 types of structural units in a regular planting, including seven random units, five even units and one cluster unit;(2) Five near-natural arrangements are presented with a minimum proportion of 50% of random units. These five arrangements represent a combination of regularity for operational convenience and asymmetry. Conclusions: The new planting patterns developed in this study are expected to increase the asymmetric competition and resilience of these important ecosystems. 3Silica gel catalyzed α-bromination of ketones using N-bromosuccinimide: An easy and rapid method显示文摘An easy and rapid method for the a-bromination of ketones using N-bromosuccinimide(NBS) catalyzed by silica gel in methanol under reflux conditions was developed. The expected products were formed in excellent isolated yields within a short period of time(5–20 min). 4Artificial neural network approach for prediction of stress–strain curve of near b titanium alloy显示文摘In the present study, artificial neural network(ANN) approach was used to predict the stress–strain curve of near beta titanium alloy as a function of volume fractions of a and b. This approach is to develop the best possible combination or neural network(NN) to predict the stress–strain curve. In order to achieve this, three different NN architectures(feed-forward back-propagation network,cascade-forward back-propagation network, and layer recurrent network), three different transfer functions(purelin, Log-Sigmoid, and Tan-Sigmoid), number of hidden layers(1 and 2), number of neurons in the hidden layer(s),and different training algorithms were employed. ANN training modules, the load in terms of strain, and volume fraction of a are the inputs and the stress as an output.ANN system was trained using the prepared training set(a,16 % a, 40 % a, and b stress–strain curves). After training process, test data were used to check system accuracy. It is observed that feed-forward back-propagation network is the fastest, and Log-Sigmoid transfer function is giving the best results. Finally, layer recurrent NN with a single hidden layer consists of 11 neurons, and Log-Sigmoid transfer function using trainlm as training algorithm is giving good result, and average relative error is1.27 ± 1.45 %. In two hidden layers, layer recurrent NN consists of 7 neurons in each hidden layer with trainrp as the training algorithm having the transfer function of LogSigmoid which gives better results. 5Capacity bounds of transmit beamforming over MISO time-varying channels with imperfect feedback显示文摘In wireless multiple input single output (MISO) systems, transmit beamforming using feedback of quantized channel state information (CSI) can provide both diversity gain and array gain with simple imple- mentation. Most of previous researches include several ideal assumptions, such as block-fading channels, perfect CSI at the receiver, or error-free and zero-delay feedback link. This paper investigates a more realistic Jakes' time-varying MISO Rayleigh fading channel with CSI estimation error and feedback delay, derives the upper and lower bounds on the ergodic capacity, and obtains the optimal frame length according to the capacity lower bound given the normalized feedback bits. The numerical and simulation results show that the derived upper and lower bounds on the capacity is quite close, increasing channel estimation error or Doppler spread will reduce the capacity bounds, and the optimal frame length can maximize the capacity lower bound.ZHANG Lei WU Gangi LI ShaoQian 2010Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,7:5
6Biting force and tongue muscle strength as useful indicators for eating and swallowing capability assessment among elderly patients显示文摘Weakened capability of eating and swallowing is common among elderly population,affecting negatively on their health and well-being.This work measured occlusal force and tongue muscle strength of elderly patients and then assessed whether correlations existed between oral physiological properties and the eating and swallowing capability.A total of 26 elderly patients with potential swallow disorder were recruited in this work.Participants’denture status and daily diet texture were determined by a pre-questionnaire analysis.Their swallowing capability was assessed and rated by water drinking test.Maximum tongue pressure,incisor occlusal force and hand gripping force were measured for each subject.It was observed that participating subjects have on average a significantly lower biting force and maximum tongue pressure than that of normal adults.The swallowing grades assessed by water drinking test showed significant correlations with both the biting force(r=−0.498,P<0.05)and the tongue muscle strength(r=−0.544,P<0.05).The biting force of dysphagia participants correlates significantly with dental conditions(P<0.05).The observed correlation between tongue pressure and diet texture indicates that tongue muscle strength could be used as a reliable indicator of the eating and swallowing capability for elderly people.Xinmiao Wang Gangying Zheng Mingsong Su Yanqiu Chen Hua Xie Weijia Han Qing Yang Jianqin Sun Jianshe Chen 2019Food Science and Human Wellness2019,8,2:4
