1Maize production under risk:The simultaneous adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit to manage risk显示文摘Farmers in Pakistan continue to produce maize under various types of risks and adopt several strategies to manage those risks. This study is the first attempt to investigate the factors affecting the concurrent adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit which the farmers use to manage the risk to maize production. We apply bivariate and multinomial probit approaches to the primary data collected from four districts of Punjab Province in Pakistan. The results show that strong correlations exist between the off-farm diversification and agricultural credit which indicates that the use of one risk management strategy leads to another. The findings demonstrate that education, livestock number, maize farming experience, perceptions of biological risks and risk-averse nature of the growers significantly encourage the adoption of diversification as a risk management tool while farm size inversely affects the adoption of diversification. Similarly, in the adoption equation of credit, maize farming experience, farm size, perceptions of price and biological risks and risk attitude of farmers significantly enhance the chances of adopting agricultural credit to manage farm risks. 2Toxic hexavalent chromium reduction by Bacillus pumilis,Cellulosimicrobium cellulans and Exiguobacterium显示文摘Three bacterial strains B acillus pumilis,Cellulosimicrobium cellulans and Exiguobacterium were investigated when grown in Luria-Bertani(LB) medium at 500 μg/m L Cr(VI). The hexavalent chromium reduction was measured by growing the strains in De Leo and Ehrlich(1994) medium at 200 and 400 μg/m L K 2 Cr O 4. The optimal Cr(VI) reduction by strains B. pumilis,Exigubacterium and C. cellulans was 51%,39%,and 41%,respectively,at an initial K2 Cr O 4 concentration of 200 μg/m L at p H 3 and temperature 37°C. At an initial chromate concentration of 400 μg/m L,the Cr(VI) reduction by strains B. pumilis,Exigubacterium and C. cellulans was 24%,19%,and 18%,respectively at p H 3 at 37°C after 24 h. 3Analysis of the dielectric properties of R410A Gas as an alternative to SF_(6)for high-voltage applications显示文摘Electric power industry is extensively using gas-insulated systems for the transmission and distribution of electrical energy.In high-voltage technology,the gas insulation is dominated by Sulphur-hexafluoride(SF_(6))since the early 60th.It is a greenhouse gas and has long atmospheric lifetime.This paper proposes comparatively more environmental friendly R410 gas as an alternative to SF_(6)for high-voltage applications.To validate the performance and theoretical concepts,it has been analysed experimentally.Buffer gases air and carbon dioxide were mixed with the base gas R410A to reduce the liquification temperature and global warming potential.Dielectric strength of R410A was tested for DC as well as AC voltage,results were compared with that of SF_(6)and other alternatives available in literature,and the results were comparable.Insulation self-recoverability test of R410A was performed and the synergistic effect of the mixed gases was calculated.Consequently,this work has discovered that R410A is the suitable alternative to SF_(6)for high-voltage applications.Bakhtiar Khan Jawad Saleem Faisal Khan Gul Faraz Rizwan Ahmad Naveed Ur Rehman Zahoor Ahmad 2019High Voltage2019,4,1:1
4Th-Shaped Tunable Multi-Band Antenna for Modern Wireless Applications显示文摘A compact,reconfigurable antenna supporting multiple wireless services with a minimum number of switches is found lacking in literature and the same became the focus and outcome of this work.It was achieved by designing a Th-Shaped frequency reconfigurable multi-band microstrip planar antenna,based on use of a single switch within the radiating structure of the antenna.Three frequency bands(i.e.,2007–2501 MHz,3660–3983MHz and 9341–1046 MHz)can be operated with the switch in the ON switch state.In the OFF state of the switch,the antenna operates within the 2577–3280MHz and 9379–1033MHz Bands.The proposed antenna shows an acceptable input impedance match with Voltage Standing Wave Ratio(VSWR)less than 1.2.The peak radiation efficiency of the antenna is 82%.A reasonable gain is obtained from 1.22 to 3.31 dB within the operating bands is achieved.The proposed antenna supports UniversalMobile Telecommunication System(UMTS)-1920 to 2170 MHz,Worldwide Interoperability and Microwave Access(WiMAX)/Wireless Broadband/(Long Term Evolution)LTE2500–2500 to 2690 MHz,Fifth Generation(5G)-2500/3500 MHz,Wireless Fidelity(Wi-Fi)/Bluetooth-2400 to 2480 MHz,and Satellite communication applications in X-Band-8000 to 12000 MHz.The overall planar dimension of the proposed antenna is 40×20mm2.The antennawas designed,along with the parametric study,using Electromagnetic(EM)simulation tool.The antenna prototype is fabricated for experimental validation with the simulated results.The proposed antenna is low profile,tunable,lightweight,cheap to fabricate and highly efficient and hence is deemed suitable for use in modern wireless communication electronic devices.Wasi Ur Rehman Khan Muhammad Fawad Khan Muhammad Irfan Sadiq Ullah Naveed Mufti Usman Ali Rizwan Ullah Fazal Muhammad Saifur Rahman Faisal Althobiani Mohammed Alshareef Mohammad E.Gommosani 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0
5Dynamic Hand Gesture Recognition Using 3D-CNN and LSTM Networks显示文摘Recognition of dynamic hand gestures in real-time is a difficult task because the system can never know when or from where the gesture starts and ends in a video stream.Many researchers have been working on visionbased gesture recognition due to its various applications.This paper proposes a deep learning architecture based on the combination of a 3D Convolutional Neural Network(3D-CNN)and a Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)network.The proposed architecture extracts spatial-temporal information from video sequences input while avoiding extensive computation.The 3D-CNN is used for the extraction of spectral and spatial features which are then given to the LSTM network through which classification is carried out.The proposed model is a light-weight architecture with only 3.7 million training parameters.The model has been evaluated on 15 classes from the 20BN-jester dataset available publicly.The model was trained on 2000 video-clips per class which were separated into 80%training and 20%validation sets.An accuracy of 99%and 97%was achieved on training and testing data,respectively.We further show that the combination of 3D-CNN with LSTM gives superior results as compared to MobileNetv2+LSTM.Muneeb Ur Rehman Fawad Ahmed Muhammad Attique Khan Usman Tariq Faisal Abdulaziz Alfouzan Nouf M.Alzahrani Jawad Ahmad 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:0

9Association between alcohol-associated cirrhosis and inpatient complications among COVID-19 patients:A propensity-matched analysis from the United显示文摘BACKGROUND Alcohol-associated cirrhosis(AC)contributes to significant liver-related mortality in the United States.It is known to cause immune dysfunction and coagulation abnormalities.Patients with comorbid conditions like AC are at risk of worse clinical outcomes from coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The specific association between AC and COVID-19 mortality remains inconclusive,given the lack of robust clinical evi-dence from prior studies.AIM To study the predictors of mortality and the outcomes of AC in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the United States.METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the National Inpatient Sample(NIS)database 2020.Patients were identified with primary COVID-19 hospitalizations based on an underlying diagnosis of AC.A matched comparison cohort of COVID-19 patients without AC was identified after 1:N propensity score matching based on baseline sociodemographic characteristics and Elixhauser comorbidities.Primary outcomes included median length of stay,median inpatient charges,and in-hospital mortality.Secondary outcomes included a prevalence of systemic complications.RESULTS A total of 1325 COVID-19 patients with AC were matched to 1135 patients without AC.There was no difference in median length of stay and hospital charges in COVID-19 patients with AC compared to non-AC(P>0.05).There was an increased prevalence of septic shock(5.7%vs 4.1%),ventricular fibrillation/ventricular flutter(0.4%vs 0%),atrial fibrillation(13.2%vs 8.8%),atrial flutter(8.7%vs 4.4%),first-degree atrioventricular nodal block(0.8%vs 0%),upper extremity venous thromboembolism(1.5%vs 0%),and variceal bleeding(3.8%vs 0%)in the AC cohort compared to the non-AC cohort(P<0.05).There was no difference in inpatient mortality in COVID-19 patients with non-AC compared to AC,with an odds ratio of 0.97(95%confidence interval:0.78-1.22,P=0.85).Predictors of mortality included advanced age,cardiac arrhythmias,coagulopathy,protein-calorie malnutrition,fluid and electrolyte disorders,septic shock,and upper extremity venous thromboembolism.CONCLUSION AC does not increase mortality in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.There is an increased association between inpatient complications among COVID-19 patients with AC compared to non-AC.Faisal Inayat Hassam Ali Pratik Patel Rubaid Dhillon Arslan Afzal Attiq Ur Rehman Muhammad Sohaib Afzal Laraib Zulfiqar Gul Nawaz Muhammad Hassan Naeem Goraya Subanandhini Subramanium Saurabh Agrawal Sanjaya K Satapathy 2023World Journal of Virology2023,12,4:0
10Origin of Quartz Cement in the Paleogene Sandstone Reservoir of Shahejie Formation,Bohai Bay Basin,China显示文摘The precipitation of authigenic quartz plays a significant role to reduce the reservoir characteristics and enhance the stiffness of the rock.The Es_(1) sandstone of Shahejie Formation is acting as a significant hydrocarbon producing rock in the Nanpu Sag.Various methods like thin section petrography,cathodoluminescence(CL),scanning electron microscope(SEM,with EDS),and electron microprobe analysis has been used to reveal the origin of quartz cement as well as to evaluate the effect of quartz cement on reservoir quality.The studied sandstone is classified as immature to mature feldspathic litharenite and lithic arkose and consists of quartz,feldspar,rock fragments and micas.Petrographic studies and SEM analysis shows that the authigenic quartz is acting a significant cement that reduces the reservoir quality.Whereas clay minerals(kaolinite and mixed layer illite to smectite)are dominant in the Es_(1) sandstone,that can reduce the reservoir quality.SEM,CL and thin section analysis reveal that there are two stages of quartz cement in the studied samples;that are pore filling authigenic cement and quartz overgrowth cement.Fluid inclusion homogenization temperatures shows that stages of quartz cement were developed with continuous process from 70℃ to 130℃.Quartz cements were generally originated from I/S reaction,feldspar dissolution,conversion of rock fragments and pressure solution.Feldspar dissolution(K-feldspar)and kaolinite to illite reaction is an insignificant silica source for the silica cement which is internally precipitated in a close system with diffusion transporting mechanism.Overall,quartz cement significantly enhance the rock strengthen and brittleness effectively as well as it reduce the overall reservoir quality.Muhammad KASHIF CAO Yingchang Nizam Ud DIN Uzair SIDDIQUE XI Kelai Faisal REHMAN Noor AHMED GU Xihao Mohammad Saleh GAGHMAN 2022Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,1:0

12An Efficient Automated Technique for Classification of Breast Cancer Using Deep Ensemble Model显示文摘Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers among women.It has the second-highest mortality rate in women after lung cancer.Timely detection,especially in the early stages,can help increase survival rates.However,manual diagnosis of breast cancer is a tedious and time-consuming process,and the accuracy of detection is reliant on the quality of the images and the radiologist’s experience.However,computer-aided medical diagnosis has recently shown promising results,leading to the need to develop an efficient system that can aid radiologists in diagnosing breast cancer in its early stages.The research presented in this paper is focused on the multi-class classification of breast cancer.The deep transfer learning approach has been utilized to train the deep learning models,and a pre-processing technique has been used to improve the quality of the ultrasound dataset.The proposed technique utilizes two deep learning models,Mobile-NetV2 and DenseNet201,for the composition of the deep ensemble model.Deep learning models are fine-tuned along with hyperparameter tuning to achieve better results.Subsequently,entropy-based feature selection is used.Breast cancer identification using the proposed classification approach was found to attain an accuracy of 97.04%,while the sensitivity and F1 score were 96.87%and 96.76%,respectively.The performance of the proposed model is very effective and outperforms other state-of-the-art techniques presented in the literature.Muhammad Zia Ur Rehman Jawad Ahmad Emad Sami Jaha Abdullah Marish Ali Mohammed A.Alzain Faisal Saeed 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,46,7:0
13Facies Analysis, Sequence Stratigraphy and Diagenetic Studies of the Jurassic Carbonates of the Kohat Basin, Northwest Pakistan: Reservoir Implications显示文摘The present study deals with the depositional facies, diagenetic processes and sequence stratigraphy of the shallow marine carbonates of the Samana Suk Formation, Kohat Basin, in order to elucidate its reservoir quality. The Samana Suk Formation consists of thin to thick-bedded, oolitic, bioclastic, dolomitic and fractured limestone. Based on the integration of outcrop, petrographic and biofacies analyses, the unit is thought to have been deposited on a gentle homoclinal ramp in peritidal, lagoonal and carbonate shoal settings. Frequent variations in microfacies based sea-level curve have revealed seven Transgressive Systems Tracts(TSTs) and six Regressive Systems Tracts(RSTs). The unit has undergone various stages of diagenetic processes, including mechanical and chemical compaction, cementation,micritization, dissolution and dolomitization. The petrographic analyses show the evolution of porosity in various depositional and diagenetic phases. The fenestral porosity was mainly developed in peritidal carbonates during deposition,while the burial dissolution and diagenetic dolomitization have greatly enhanced the reservoir potential of the rock unit, as is further confirmed by the plug porosity and permeability analyses. The porosities and permeabilities were higher in shoal facies deposited in TSTs, as compared to lagoonal and peritidal facies, except for the dolomite in mudstone, deposited during RSTs. 14Seismic hazard assessment of Western Coastal Province of Saudi Arabia:deterministic approach显示文摘Seismic hazard assessment is carried out by utilizing deterministic approach to evaluate the maximum expected earthquake ground motions along the Western Coastal Province of Saudi Arabia. The analysis is accomplished by incorporating seismotectonic source model,determination of earthquake magnitude(Mmax), set of appropriate ground motion predictive equations(GMPE), and logic tree sequence. The logic tree sequence is built up to assign weight to ground motion scaling relationships. Contour maps of ground acceleration are generated at different spectral periods.
