1密度和纤维取向对炭/炭复合材料烧蚀性能的影响(英文)显示文摘采用不同的预制体和致密化方法制备了密度不同的5种炭/炭复合材料(密度范围1.77g/cm3~1.85g/cm3)。用氧-乙炔焰对试样进行了烧蚀试验,并用SEM表征了烧蚀后材料的形貌。结果表明:烧蚀后,与乙炔焰成30o角的纤维变成楔形,而与火焰平行的纤维变成直径为3.5μm~4.5μm的针状,针状纤维更易被火焰烧蚀而钝化。部分宏观孔(直径为1.0mm~1.26mm)、针状微孔及界面裂纹等缺陷处更易被烧蚀而变成烧蚀坑。包裹纤维的沥青炭层由于热解炭基体的不连续而出现了严重的剥蚀。高密度材料(1.85g/cm3)具有良好的抗烧蚀性能。Shameel Farhan 李克智 郭领军 高全明 兰逢涛 2010新型炭材料2010,25,3:20
2Disease Resistance in Maize and the Role of Molecular Breeding in Defending Against Global Threat显示文摘Diseases are a potential threat to global food security but plants have evolved an extensive array of methodologies to cope with the invading pathogens. Non-host resistance and quantitative re- sistance are broad spectrum forms of resistance, and all kinds of resistances are controlled by extremely diverse genes called 'R- genes'. R-genes follow different mechanisms to defend plants and PAMP-induced defenses in susceptible host plants are referred to as basal resistance. Genetic and phenotypic diversity are vital in maize (Zea mays L.); as such, genome wide association study (GWAS) along with certain other methodologies can explore the maximum means of genetic diversity. Exploring the complete genetic archi- tecture to manipulate maize genetically reduces the losses from hazardous diseases. Genomic studies can reveal the interaction be- tween different genes and their pathways. 3Manipulation of SlMXl for enhanced carotenoids accumulation and drought resistance in tomato显示文摘Plants are the ultimate source of nutrients in the human diet. To ensure adequate availability of high quality food for an increasing world population, traits including improved tolerance of stresses and nutrient levels need to be selected in crops, both individually and in combination. Here we report the identification of Sl MX1 encoding a MIXTA-like MYB transcription factor in tomato that simultaneously modulates drought resistance and metabolic processes through regulating key structural and regulatory genes of the corresponding pathways. Over-expression of Sl MX1 results in substantially increased drought tolerance and improved fruit quality, while knocking down Sl MX1 resulted in the opposite phenotypes. 4Histone deacetylase HDA710 controls salt tolerance by regulating ABA signaling in rice显示文摘Plants have evolved numerous mechanisms that assist them in withstanding environmental stresses.Histone deacetylases(HDACs)play crucial roles in plant stress responses;however,their regulatory mechanisms remain poorly understood.Here,we explored the function of HDA710/OsHDAC2,a member of the HDAC RPD3/HDA1 family,in stress tolerance in rice(Oryza sativa).We established that HDA710 localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm and is involved in regulating the acetylation of histone H3 and H4,specifically targeting H4 K5 and H4 K16 under normal conditions.HDA710 transcript accumulation levels were strongly induced by abiotic stresses including drought and salinity,as well as by the phytohormones jasmonic acid(JA)and abscisic acid(ABA).hda710 knockout mutant plants showed enhanced salinity tolerance and reduced ABA sensitivity,whereas transgenic plants overexpressing HDA710 displayed the opposite phenotypes.Moreover,ABAand salt-stress-responsive genes,such as OsLEA3,OsABI5,OsbZIP72,and OsNHX1,were upregulated in hda710 compared with wild-type plants.These expression differences corresponded with higher levels of histone H4 acetylation in gene promoter regions in hda710 compared with the wild type under ABA and salt-stress treatment.Collectively,these results suggest that HDA710 is involved in regulating ABA-and salt-stress-responsive genes by altering H4 acetylation levels in their promoters.Farhan Ullah Qiutao Xu Yu Zhao Dao-Xiu Zhou 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:7
5Three Tier Fog Networks: Enabling IoT/5G for Latency Sensitive Applications显示文摘Following the progression in Internet of Things(IoT) and 5G communication networks, the traditional cloud computing model have shifted to fog computing. Fog computing provides mobile computing, network control and storage to the network edges to assist latency critical and computation-intensive applications. Moreover, security features are improved in fog paradigm by processing critical data on edge devices instead of data centres outside the control plane of users. However, fog network deployment imposes many challenges including resource allocation, privacy of users, non-availability of programming model and testing software and support for the heterogenous networks. This article highlights these challenges and their potential solutions in detail. This article also discusses threetier fog network architecture, its standardization and benefits in detail. The proposed resource allocation mechanism for three tier fog networks based on swap matching is described. 7Gingerol activates noxious cold ion channel TRPA1 in gastrointestinal tract显示文摘TRPA1 channels are non-selective cation channels that could be activated by plant-derived pungent products, including gingerol, a main active constituent of ginger. Ginger could improve the digestive function; however whether ginger improves the digestive function through activating TRPA1 receptor in gastrointestinal tract has not been investigated. In the present study, gingerol was used to stimulate cell lines(RIN14B or STC-1) while depletion of extracellular calcium.TRPA1 inhibitor(rethenium red) and TRPA1 gene silencing via TRPA1-specific si RNA were also used for mechanistic studies. The intracellular calcium and secretion of serotonin or cholecystokinin were measured by fura-2/AM and ELISA. Stimulation of those cells with gingerol increased intracellular calcium levels and the serotonin or cholecystokinin secretion. The gingerol-induced intracellular calcium increase and secretion(serotonin or cholecystokinin) release were completely blocked by ruthenium red, EGTA, and TRPA1-specific si RNA. 8Particle size dependent sinterability and magnetic properties of recycled HDDR Nd-Fe-B powders consolidated with spark plasma sintering显示文摘The dependence of the magnetic properties on the particle size of recycled HDDR Nd-Fe-B powders was investigated,with the aim to assess the reprocessing potential of the end-of-life scrap magnets via spark plasma sintering(SPS).The as received recycled HDDR powder has coercivity(Hci)=830 kA/m and particles in the range from 30 to 700 μm(average 220 μm).After burr milling,the average particle size is reduced to 120 μm and subsequently the Hci of fine(milled) powder was 595 kA/m.Spark plasma sintering was exploited to consolidate the nanograined HDDR powders and limit the abnormal grain coarsening.The optimal SPS-ing of coarse HDDR powder at 750℃for 1 min produces fully dense magnets with Hci=950±100 kA/m which further increases to 1200 kA/m via thermal treatment at 750℃for 15 min.The burr milled fine HDDR powder under similar SPS conditions and after thermal treatment results in Hci=940 kA/m.The fine powder is further sieved down from 630 to less than 50 μm mesh size,to evaluate the possible reduction in Hci in relation to the particle size.The gain in oxygen content doubles for <50 μm sized particles as compared with coarser fractions(>200 μm).The XRD analysis for fractionated powder indicates an increase in Nd2O3 phase peaks in the finer(<100 μm)fractions.Similarly,the Hci reduces from 820 kA/m in the coarse particles(>200 μm) to 460 kA/m in the fine sized particles(<100μm).SPS was done on each HDDR powder fraction under the optimal conditions to measure the variation in Hci and density.The Hci of SPS-ed coarse fraction(>200 μm) is higher than 930 kA/m and it falls abruptly to just 70 kA/m for the fine sized particles(<100 μm).The thermal treatment further improves the Hci to>1000 kA/m only up to 100 μm sized fractions with>90% sintered density.The full densification(>99%) is observed only in the coarse fractions.The loss of coercivity and lack of sinterability in the fine sized particles(<100 μm) are attributed to a very high oxygen content.This implies that during recycling,if good magnetic properties are to be maintained or even increase the HDDR powder particles can be sized down only up to≥100 μm.Awais Ikram Farhan Mehmood Richard Stuart Sheridan Muhammad Awais Allan Walton Anas Eldosouky Saso Sturm Spomenka Kobe Kristina Zuzek Rozman 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,1:5
9ARIMA and NAR based prediction model for time series analysis of COVID-19 cases in India显示文摘In this paper,we have applied the univariate time series model to predict the number of COVID-19 infected cases that can be expected in upcoming days in India.We adopted an Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)model on the data collected from 31st January 2020 to 25th March 2020 and verified it using the data collected from 26th March 2020 to 04th April 2020.A nonlinear autoregressive(NAR)neural network was developed to compare the accuracy of predicted models.The model has been used for daily prediction of COVID-19 cases for next 50 days without any additional intervention.Statistics from various sources,including the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW)and http://gffzz7f4dde9d11784f45h0b66bp0cqcfw69qb.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/are used for the study.The results showed an increasing trend in the actual and forecasted numbers of COVID-19 cases with approximately 1500 cases per day,based on available data as on 04th April 2020.The appropriate ARIMA(1,1,0)model was selected based on the Bayesian Information Criteria(BIC)values and the overall highest R 2 values of 0.95.The NAR model architecture constitutes ten neurons,which was optimized using the Levenberg-Marquardt optimization training algorithm(LM)with the overall highest R 2 values of 0.97.Farhan Mohammad Khan Rajiv Gupta 2020Journal of Safety Science and Resilience2020,1,1:5
10Termites and Chinese agricultural system: applications and advances in integrated termite management and chemical control显示文摘Termites are eusocial arthropod decomposers,and improve soil fertility,crop yield,and also are used by humans for their ben efits across the world.However,some species of termites are becoming a threat to the farming community as they are directly and indirectly causing major losses to the agricultural system.It is estimated that termites cost the global economy more than 40 billion USD annually,and considerable research has been done on their management.In this review,we present the available information related to sustainable and integrated termite management practices(ITM).Furthermore,we insist that the better management of this menace can be possible through:(i)improving traditional methods to keep termites away from crops;(ii)improving agricultural practices to maintain plants with more vigor and less susceptible to termite attack;and(iii)integration of available techniques to reduce termite infestation in crops and surroundings.The application of an effective combination of traditional practices with recently developed approaches is the best option for agricultural growers.Moreover,keeping in mind the beneficial nature of this pest,more innovative efforts for its management,particularly using rapidly emerging technology(e.g.,RNA interference),are needed.Farhan Ahmad Hatem Fouad Shi-You Liang Yin Hu Jian-Chu Mo 2021Insect Science2021,28,1:5

12Prediction of Hub Corner Stall Characteristics of a Highly Loaded Low Speed Single Stage Fan显示文摘In this paper a numerical investigation has been presented on the stall mechanism of a highly loaded Single Stage Low Speed Fan designed for the research test facility to be installed at North Western Polytechnic University (NWPU) Xi’an, China. The results presented are for the design point, near stall and just stall operating conditions at design speed. Design point studies have been found to be an indicative of stall area. Unsteady method of domain scaling has been used to compute the results at near stall and just stall conditions. It has been found that unlike the conventional tip leakage flow of the rotor, stator hub section is mainly responsible for the stall of the fan. The flow mechanism has been discussed with correlation to the design variables and previous investigations. Commercial CFD code NUMECA FINE/Turbo has been used for computations; results have been compared with results obtained from commercial CFD code ANSYS-CFX. 13RNA-seq reveals mechanisms of SlMX1 for enhanced carotenoids and terpenoids accumulation along with stress resistance in tomato显示文摘Improving nutritional fruit quality and impacts important agro-traits such as biotic or abiotic stresses are extremely important for human civilization.Our previous study reported that manipulation of Sl MX1 gene enhanced carotenoids accumulation and drought resistance in tomato.Here,RNA-Seq analysis proved to be a very useful tool to provide insights into the regulatory mechanisms of Sl MX1 involved in stress resistance and enhanced secondary metabolites.Physiological analysis showed that overexpression of Sl MX1 results in substantially increased broad-spectrum tolerance to a wide-range of abiotic and biotic(fungus,bacteria,virus and insects) stresses in tomato.This research appears to be of remarkable interest because enhanced terpenoids content has been achieved by increasing trichome density.In addition,we reported two types of trichome which seems to be aberrant types in tomato.This study unravels the mechanism of regulation of Sl MX1,which simultaneously modulates resistance and metabolic processes through regulating key structural and regulatory genes of the corresponding pathways.Mohamed Ewas Yangqiang Gao Farhan Ali Elsayed M. 14Gut microbiome profiling and colorectal cancer in African Americans and Caucasian Americans显示文摘AIM To determine whether and to what extent the gut microbiome is involved in regulating racial disparity in colorectal cancer(CRC). METHODS All patients were recruited and experiments were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations by the Institutional Review Boards (IRB), committees of the John D. Dingell VAMC and Wayne State University guidelines. African American (AA) and Caucasian American (CA) patients were scheduled for an outpatient screening for colonoscopy, and no active malignancy volunteer patients were doubly consented, initially by the gastroenterologist and later by the study coordinator, for participation in the study. The gut microbial communities in colonic effluents from AAs and CAs were examined using 16 sRNA profiling, and bacterial identifications were validated by performing SYBR-based Real Time PCR. For metagenomic analysis to characterize the microbial communities, multiple software/tools were used, including Metastats and R statistical software.RESULTS It is generally accepted that the incidence and mortality of CRC is higher in AAs than in CAs. However, the reason for this disparity is not well understood. We hypothesize that the gut microbiome plays a role in regulating this disparity. Indeed, we found significant differences in species richness and diversity between AAs and CAs. Bacteroidetes was more abundant in AAs than in CAs. In particular, the pro-inflammatory bacteria Fusobacterium nucleatum and Enterobacter species were significantly higher in AAs, whereas probiotic Akkermansia muciniphila and Bifidobacterium were higher in CAs. The polyphyletic Clostridia class showed a divergent pattern, with Clostridium XI elevated in AAs, and Clostridium IV, known for its beneficial function, higher in CAs. Lastly, the AA group had decreased microbial diversity overall in comparison to the CA group. 17Pulse width modulation voltage source deadtime effect on partial discharge and lifetime of inverter‐fed motor insulation显示文摘This paper analyses the impact of square wave pulse voltage deadtime on the partial discharge(PD)and the lifetime of turn-to-turn insulation.A bipolar repetitive pulse voltage with a deadtime of 0–10μs is produced using double half-bridge solid-state switches having push–pull technology controlled by a field-programmable gate array.The mechanism of the discharge process at rising and falling edges of the pulse voltage before and after deadtime is analysed in detail.The discharge amplitude and PD probability at the rising/falling edges of the voltage waveform increase as the deadtime increases from 0 to 10μs due to the remanent charges.The number of PD and their intensity is higher at the first rising/falling edges of pulse voltage as compared to the second rising/falling edges for all deadtimes 0–10μs.As the deadtime increases beyond 2μs,the number of PDs increases and concentrates at a specific phase angle of rising/falling edges.These localise discharges degrade the insulation material and reduce its lifetime.This study helps to identify the inverter-fed motor insulation faults due to deadtime.It can provide guidelines to motor insulation designers to determine the limit value of deadtime to compensate PD and ensure the safer operation of such motors.Shakeel Akram Peng Wang Pengfei Meng Gian Carlo Montanari Farhan Hameed Malik 2022High Voltage2022,7,6:2
18The transformation of the inherited historical urban and architectural characteristics of Al-Najaf's Old City and possible preservation insights显示文摘This paper focuses on the dramatic transformation of the inherited historical urban and architectural characteristics of the city of Al-Najafin Iraq,seeking new ways of seeing the possibilities of preserving and revitalizing the historical center of the city.In addition to being one of the most sacred centers for Shia Muslims,Al-Najaf has a rich cultural and architectural heritage.Its architectural characteristics and urban structure not only reflect the history of the city but also stand as evidence of the most important junctures in Islamic history:the martyrdom of Imam AU ibn Abi Talib,who is a central Islamic spiritual personality and the second most important figure after the Prophet Muhammad.Since its estab-Ushment in 750 AD,the formation of Al-Najaf has never separated from its sociopolitical context and Islamic principles,particularly Shia Muslims'beliefs.Today,the city is a destination for more than million Shia Muslim pilgrims each year,and the number is rapidly increasing.However,as the city continues to develop,its architecture and unique urban structure transform dramatically.The cultural and architectural heritage of the city is seriously threatened.Several factors played a crucial role in the formation and the transformation of the city's specific architectural and urban structures.The most influential factors were mainly related to religion,environment,and politics.This paper introduces the main forces behind the transformation of the deep organizational structures of the architecture and urban fabric in Al-Najaf.The question of whether it is still possible to protect and preserve the remaining parts and revitalize the Old City center is also examined.The goal is to identify the major preservation issues and provide possible insights based on successful preservation experiences that address similar issues indifferent contexts.Sabeeh Farhan Venus Akef Zuhair Nasar 2020Frontiers of Architectural Research2020,9,4:2
19由生物材料制备的绿色碳泡沫的物理及电磁屏蔽性能(英文)显示文摘以梧桐树含纤维的果实为原料、煤焦油沥青为粘合剂,通过粉末模塑法制备了100%绿色碳泡沫,目的是采用生物材料制备高强度,且可应用于物理、热和电磁屏蔽领域的多孔碳泡沫。在1000°C下不使用任何外部保护性气体,通过对梧桐树种子热解进行快速碳化。为比较分析,模制过程中在一些样品中混入了5%(质量分数)的氯化铁。氯化铁作为石墨化催化剂和活化剂,使材料比表面积从88增加到294 m^2/g,弯曲强度降低25%。由于材料中引入较多的石墨成分,其热稳定性得到改善,但热导率提高有限(从0.22提高到0.67 W/(m·K))。经催化得到的碳泡沫在X波段的电磁屏蔽效能在20 dB以上,反射率仅为8.26%~10.33%,表明吸收损耗是占主导地位的电磁屏蔽机理。这种新材料轻质、高度多孔,保留有机生物材料互连多孔形态,有望应用于高温隔热材料领域。Shameel FARHAN 王汝敏 李克智 2018Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2018,28,1:2
20烯丙基酚氧树脂改性双马来酰亚胺体系的优化显示文摘通过环氧树脂与二烯丙基双酚A合成了一种烯丙基酚氧树脂,用以增韧双马来酰亚胺。在单因素试验的基础上,根据Box-Benhnken的中心组合试验设计原理,选取改性树脂体系组分为影响因子,应用响应面法进行3因素3水平的18组的设计试验,改性树脂性能(弯曲强度,冲击强度,热变形温度)为响应值,对改性树脂组分配比进行优化。结果表明,改性树脂组分配比BMI、DDS、APO、DABPA、DAP为2∶1∶0.2∶0.84∶0.1(物质的量比)时,综合2性能最好,此时改性双马树脂体系的冲击强度可达到21.4 k J/m,弯曲强度为200.5 MPa,热变形温度为195.8℃。江浩 王汝敏 Shameel Farhan 郑水蓉 胡睿 2014粘接2014,35,11:2
