1Modelling of multi-bodies in close proximity under water waves——Fluid resonance in narrow gaps显示文摘Viscous fluid model and potential flow model with and without artificial damping force(f=-μV,μ the damping coefficient and V the local averaging flow velocity) are employed in this work to investigate the phenomenon of fluid resonance in narrow gaps between multi-bodies in close proximity under water waves. The numerical results are compared with experimental data available in the literature. The comparison demonstrates that both the viscous fluid model and the potential flow model are able to predict the resonant frequency reasonably well. However the conventional potential flow model(without artificial damping term) significantly over-predicts the wave height in narrow gaps around the resonant frequency. In order to calibrate the appropriate damping coefficient used for the potential model and make it work as well as the viscous fluid model in predicting the resonant wave height in narrow gaps but with little computational efforts, the dependence of damping coefficient μ on the body geometric dimensions is examined considering the parameters of gap width Bg,body draft D,body breadth ratio Br and body number n(n = 2,3),where Br = BB/BA for the case of two bodies(Body A and Body B) with different breadths of BA and BB,respectively. It was confirmed that the damping coefficient used for the potential flow model is not sensitive to the geometric dimensions and spatial arrangement. It was found that μ∈ [0.4,0.5] may guarantee the variation of Hg/H0 with kh to be generally in good agreement with the experimental data and the results of viscous fluid model, where Hg is the excited wave height in narrow gaps under various dimensionless incident wave frequencies kh,H0 is the incident wave height,k = 2π/L is the wave number and h is the water depth.LU Lin1,2,TENG Bin3,CHENG Liang 4,SUN Liang5 & CHEN XiaoBo6 1 Center for Deepwater Engineering,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 2 State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 3 State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 4 School of Civil and Resource Engineering,The University of Western Australia,Crawly 6003,Australia 5 Centre for Offshore Research and Engineering,Department of Civil Engineering,National University of Singapore,117576,Singapore 6 Research Department,Bureau Veritas,Neuilly-Sur-Seine,92570,France 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,1:29
2Geometric construction of energy-minimizing Bézier curves显示文摘Modeling energy-minimizing curves have many applications and are a basic problem of Geometric Modeling. In this paper,we propose the method for geometric design of energy-minimizing B′ezier curves.Firstly, the necessary and sufficient condition on the control points for B′ezier curves to have minimal internal energy is derived.Based on this condition,we propose the geometric constructions of three kinds of B′ezier curves with minimal internal energy including stretch energy, strain energy and jerk energy.Given some control points, the other control points can be determined as the linear combination of the given control points. We compare the three kinds of energy-minimizing B′ezier curves via curvature combs and curvature plots, and present the collinear properties of quartic energy-minimizing B′ezier curves. We also compare the proposed method with previous methods on efficiency and accuracy. Finally, several applications of the curve generation technique, such as curve interpolation with geometric constraints and modeling of circle-like curves are discussed.XU Gang 1,4,5,WANG GuoZhao 2 & CHEN WenYu 2,3 1 Institute of Graphics and Image,Hangzhou Dianzi University,Hangzhou 310018,China 2 Department of Mathematics,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 3 School of Computer Engineering,Nanyang Technological University,639798,Singapore 4 Galaad,INRIA Sophia-Antipolis,2004 Route des Lucioles,06902,France 5 State Key Lab of CAD & CG,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2011Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,7:15
3Multi-isotopic system geochronology of low temperature eclogite from Huangzhen,Southern Dabie Terrain显示文摘Zircon U-Pb thermal ionization mass-spectrometer (TIMS) and secondary ion mass-spectrometer (SIMS) dating, mica and amphibole 40Ar-39Ar dating and mineral Sm-Nd isotopic compositions of Huangzhen low temperature eclogite and country granitic gneiss are carried out. The zircon U-Pb weighted average SIMS age is (231.6±9.7) Ma for one eclogite. The mica Ar-39Ar isochron age is (232.6±2.1) Ma and the lowest plateau age is (221.7±2.4) 40 Ma from same sample. U-Pb TIMS concordant ages from other eclogite zircons are from (221.3 ±1.4) Ma to (222.5±2.3) Ma. U-Pb SIMS low intercept age from country granitic gneiss is (221 ±35) Ma. The retrograde amphibole Ar-39Ar isochron age is (205.9±1.0) Ma. Except for mica, 40 which may contain excess Ar, all the ages represent peak and retrograde metamorphism of low 40 temperature eclogites. It is indicated that the Huangzhen low temperature eclogites differ from Xiongdian low temperature eclogites of north of the Northern Dabie Terrain in metamorphic ages. Huangzhen low temperature eclogites share one coherent HP-UHP terrain with high temperature eclogites from Southern Dabie Terrain and they may have differences in subduction depth and cooling rates during exhumation.CHEN Daogong1, E. 4Absolute radiometric calibration of CBERS-02 IRMSS thermal band显示文摘Based on the laboratory calibration before launch of CBERS-02 IRMSS thermal infrared channel, the onboard blackbody calibration, the radiometric cross- calibration against TERRA MODIS corresponding channel and the in-flight field calibration at Lake Qinghai: water surface radiometric calibration test site of China on Aug. 17, 2004 are carried out in this research. When making onboard blackbody calibration of CBERS-02 IRMSS, it is necessary to understand inside structures and light path in IRMSS camera and receive and process calibration blackbody signals at normal and high temperatures. Onboard blackbody calibration results of each detector are very important to relative radiometric calibration of images processing and absolute radiometric calibration of each detector. In-flight field calibration mainly contains field experiments, obtaining synchronous images, spectrum marching and MODTRAN radiative transmi- ssion computation. Radiometric cross-calibration of CBERS-02 IRMSS thermal band against TERRA MODIS selected 6 times synchronous images of two sensors passing through Lake Qinghai and Lake Taihu from August to December, 2004 to compute the cross calibration data. Combining the in-flight field calibration and radiometric cross calibration data, the absolute radiometric calibration coefficients are calculated by the linear regression method. This new calibration model can obviously control the radiometric calibration uncertainties aroused by the single point method used in the in-flight calibration of CBERS-02 IRMSS, this kind of sensors cannot receive the cosmic background radiation. In this research, the radiometric calibration coefficients obtained through the linear regression model are 8.53 (gain, unit: DN/W m?2sr?1μm?1) and 44.92 (offset, unit: DN).ZHANG Yong1,2,3, GU Xingfa1,3,4, YU Tao1,3, ZHANG Yuxiang5, CHEN Liangfu1,3, LI Xiaoying1,2,3, LI Xiaowen1,3 & HE Liming6 1. 5A LAGRANGIAN RELAXATION APPROACH FOR SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING WITH ORDER/SETUP COSTS AND CAPACITY CONSTRAINTS显示文摘A heuristic approach is developed for supply chain planning modeled as multi-item multi-levelcapacitated lot sizing problems. The heuristic combines Lagrangian relaxation (LR) with local search.Different from existing LR approaches that relax capacity constraints and/or inventory balanceconstraints, our approach only relaxes the technical constraints that each 0-1 setup variable must takevalue 1 if its corresponding continuous variable is positive. The relaxed problem is approximatelysolved by using the simplex algorithm for linear programming, while Lagrange multipliers are updatedby using a surrogate subgradient method that ensures the convergence of the dual problem in case ofthe approximate resolution of the relaxed problem. At each iteration, a feasible solution of the originalproblem is constructed from the solution of the relaxed problem. The feasible solution is furtherimproved by a local search that changes the values of two setup variables at each time. By taking theadvantages of a special structure of the lot-sizing problem, the local search can be implemented byusing a modified simplex algorithm, which significantly reduces its computation time. Numericalexperiments show that our approach can find very good solutions for problems of realistic sizes in ashort computation time and is more effective than an existing commercial optimization code.Haoxun CHEN Chengbin CHUIndustrial System Optimization Laboratory Technology University of Troyes, France 2003Systems Science and Systems Engineering2003,12,1:2

15Deformation mechanism of leukocyte adhering to vascular surface under steady shear flow显示文摘The adhesion of leukocytes to vascular surface is an important biomedical problem and has drawn extensive attention. In this study, we propose a compound drop model to simulate a leukocyte with a nucleus adhering to the surface of blood vessel under steady shear flow. A two-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is conducted to determine the local distri- bution of pressure on the surface of the adherent model cell. By introducing the parameter of deformation index (DI), we investigate the deformation of the leukocyte and its nucleus under controlled conditions. Our numerical results show that: (i) the leukocyte is capable of deformation under external exposed flow field. The deformation index increases with initial contact angle and Reynolds number of external exposed flow. (ii) The nucleus deforms with the cell, and the de- formation index of the leukocyte is greater than that of the nucleus. The leukocyte is more de- formable while the nucleus is more capable of resisting external shear flow. (iii) The leukocyte and the nucleus are not able to deform infinitely with the increase of Reynolds number because the deformation index reaches a maximum. (iv) Pressure distribution confirms that there exists a region downstream of the cell, which produces high pressure to retard continuous deformation and provide a positive lift force on the cell. Meanwhile, we have measured the deformation of human leukocytes exposed to shear flow by using a flow chamber system. We found that the numerical results are well consistent with those of experiment. We conclude that the nucleus with high viscosity plays a particular role in leukocyte deformation.LIU Xiaoheng1, WANG Xiong2, YIN Hongmei3 & CHEN Huaiqing 1 1.
