2Comparison of three evapotranspiration models with eddy covariance measurements for a Populus euphratica Oliv.forest in an arid region of northwestern China显示文摘The accurate estimation of evapotranspiration(ET) in arid regions is important for improving the water use efficiency of vegetation. Based on successive observations from May to October of 2014, we estimated the ET of a Populus euphratica Oliv. forest during the growing season in an extremely arid region using the PM(Penman-Monteith), SW(Shuttleworth-Wallace) and SSW(an improved canopy transpiration model) models. Estimated ET values were compared with those of the eddy covariance measurements. Results indicated that the actual ET of the P. euphratica forest was always overestimated by the PM model. The accuracy of the SW model was higher than that of the PM model. However, some data were not easily obtained because of the complicated structure of the SW model. The newly proposed SSW model gave the most accurate ET values, and its accuracy was higher at hourly than at daily time scale. 4Evapotranspiration of a Populus euphratica forest during the growing season in an extremely arid region of northwest China using the Shuttleworth–Wallace model显示文摘Thus far, measurements and estimations of actual evapotranspiration(ET) in extremely arid areas are still insufficient. Based on successive observations from June–September 2014, we simulated ET of a Populus euphratica Oliv. forest during the growing season in an extremely arid region of northwest China using the Shuttleworth–Wallace(S–W) model. Simulated ET values were compared to those of the eddy-covariance(EC) method on a 1 h interval. With a root mean square error(RMSE),relative error(RE) and mean absolute error(MAE) of0.192, 3.100 and 0.165 mm h-1, respectively, model performance was not satisfactory. In particular, on days with strong winds(Sep. 11–13), deviations between simulated and observed ET values increased to 0.275, 0.878 and0.251 mm h-1, RMSE, RE and MAE respectively. These values were significantly greater than those in other study periods and were most likely owing to sharp increases in wind speed. 5Discrimination of False Negative Results in RT-PCR Detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in Clinical Specimens by Using an Internal Reference显示文摘Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)is an essential method for specific diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Unfortunately,false negative test results are often reported.In this study,we attempted to determine the principal causes leading to false negative results of RT-PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in respiratory tract specimens.Multiple sputum and throat swab specimens from 161 confirmed COVID-19 patients were tested with a commercialfluorescent RT-PCR kit targeting the ORF1 ab and N regions of SARS-CoV-2 genome.The RNA level of a cellular housekeeping gene ribonuclease P/MRP subunit p30(RPP30)in these specimens was also assessed by RT-PCR.Data for a total of 1052 samples were retrospectively re-analyzed and a strong association between positive results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA tests and high level of RPP30 RNA in respiratory tract specimens was revealed.By using the ROC-AUC analysis,we identified Ct cutoff values for RPP30 RT-PCR which predicted false negative results for SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR with high sensitivity(95.03%–95.26%)and specificity(83.72%–98.55%)for respective combination of specimen type and ampli-fication reaction.Using these Ct cutoff values,false negative results could be reliably identified.Therefore,the presence of cellular materials,likely infected host cells,are essential for correct SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection by RT-PCR in patient specimens.RPP30 could serve as an indicator for cellular content,or a surrogate indicator for specimen quality.In addition,our results demonstrated that false negativity accounted for a vast majority of contradicting results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA test by RT-PCR.Yafei Zhang Changtai Wang Mingfeng Han Jun Ye Yong Gao Zhongping Liu Tengfei He Tuantuan Li Mengyuan Xu Luping Zhou Guizhou Zou Mengji Lu Zhenhua Zhang 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:5
6Deep feature extraction and motion representation for satellite video scene classification显示文摘Satellite video scene classification(SVSC)is an advanced topic in the remote sensing field,which refers to determine the video scene categories from satellite videos.SVSC is an important and fundamental step for satellite video analysis and understanding,which provides priors for the presence of objects and dynamic events.In this paper,a two-stage framework is proposed to extract spatial features and motion features for SVSC.More specifically,the first stage is designed to extract spatial features for satellite videos.Representative frames are firstly selected based on the blur detection and spatial activity of satellite videos.Then the fine-tuned visual geometry group network(VGG-Net)is transferred to extract spatial features based on spatial content.The second stage is designed to build motion representation for satellite videos.The motion representation of moving targets in satellite videos is first built by the second temporal principal component of principal component analysis(PCA).Second,features from the first fully connected layer of VGG-Net are used as high-level spatial representation for moving targets.Third,a small network of long and short term memory(LSTM)is further designed for encoding temporal information.Two-stage features respectively characterize spatial and temporal patterns of satellite scenes,which are finally fused for SVSC.A satellite video dataset is built for video scene classification,including 7209 video segments and covering 8 scene categories.These satellite videos are from Jilin-1 satellites and Urthecast.The experimental results show the efficiency of our proposed framework for SVSC.Yanfeng GU Huan LIU Tengfei WANG Shengyang LI Guoming GAO 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,4:4

8Enhancing oxygen evolution reaction by cationic surfactants显示文摘Oxygen evolution reaction is critical for water splitting or metal-air batteries,but previous research mainly focuses on electrode material or structure optimization.Herein,we demonstrate that surfactant modification of a NiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) array electrode,one of the best catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER),could achieve superaerophobic surface with balanced surface charges,affording fast mass transfer,quick gas release,and boosted OER performance.The assembled surfactants on the electrode surface are responsible for lowering the bubble adhesive force (~ 1.03 μN) and corresponding fast release of small bubbles generated during OER.In addition,the bipolar nature of the hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) molecule lead to bilayer assembly of the surfactants with the polar ends facing the electrode surface and the electrolyte,resulting in neutralized charges on the electrode surface.As a result,OH-transfer was facilitated and OER performance was enhanced.With the modified superaerophobic surface and balanced surface charge,NiFe LDHs-CTAB nanostructured electrode showed ultrahigh current density increase (9.39 mA(mV·cm^2)),2.3 times higher than that for conventional NiFe LDH nanoarray electrode),dramatically fast gas release,and excellent durability.The introduction of surfactants to construct under-water superaerophobic electrode with in-time repelling ability to the as-formed gas bubbles may open up a new pathway for designing efficient electrodes for gas evolution systems with potentially practical application in the near future.Qixian Xie Daojin Zhou Pengsong Li Zhao Cai Tianhui Xie Tengfei Gao Ruida Chen Yun Kuang Xiaoming Sun 2019Nano Research2019,12,9:3
9Natural variations of ZmSRO1d modulate the trade-off between drought resistance and yield by affecting ZmRBOHC-mediated stomatal ROS production in maize显示文摘While crop yields have historically increased,drought resistance has become a major concern in the context of global climate change.The trade-off between crop yield and drought resistance is a common phenomenon;however,the underlying molecular modulators remain undetermined.Through genome-wide association study,we revealed that three non-synonymous variants in a drought-resistant allele of ZmSRO1d-R resulted in plasma membrane localization and enhanced mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity of ZmSRO1d toward ZmRBOHC,which increased reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in guard cells and promoted stomatal closure.ZmSRO1d-R enhanced plant drought resilience and protected grain yields under drought conditions,but it led to yield drag under favorable conditions.In contrast,loss-of-function mutants of ZmRBOHC showed remarkably increased yields under well-watered conditions,whereas they showed compromised drought resistance.Interestingly,by analyzing 189 teosinte accessions,we found that the ZmSRO1d-R allele was present in teosinte but was selected against during maize domestication and modern breeding.Collectively,our work suggests that the allele frequency reduction of ZmSRO1d-R in breeding programs may have compromised maize drought resistance while increased yields.Therefore,introduction of the ZmSRO1d-R allele into modern maize cultivars would contribute to food security under drought stress caused by global climate change.Huajian Gao Junjun Cui Shengxue Liu Shuhui Wang Yongyan Lian Yunting Bai Tengfei Zhu Haohao Wu Yijie Wang Shiping Yang Xuefeng Li Junhong Zhuang Limei Chen Zhizhong Gong Feng Qin 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,10:2
10Highly efficient and stable solar-powered desalination by tungsten carbide nanoarray film with sandwich wettability显示文摘Solar-powered desalination is a promising way to resolve the worldwide water crisis for its low con- sumption and simple facility. Considering the fragility and aggregations of traditional materials, which may decrease efficiency, we herein introduce a robust tungsten carbide (WC) nanoarray film as a stable and efficient photothermal material, whose absorption is over 97.5% throughout almost the whole solar spectrum range (220–2200 nm) due to nanoarray structure and thus enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance. Besides, for the first time, we modified the film with sandwich wettability. It accelerates evap- oration by reducing water’s reflection of light, enlarging hydrophobic-hydrophilic boundaries, and depressing heat dissipation. 11On the room-temperature tensile deformation behavior of a cast dual-phase high-entropy alloy CrFeCoNiAl_(0.7)显示文摘The microstructure and room-temperature tensile deformation behavior of the cast CrFeCoNiAl0.7 high-entropy alloy(HEA)were studied in details.The cast HEA consisted of a dual-phase structure of 77.3 vol.%face-centered-cubic(FCC)phase plus 22.7 vol.%B2 phase,and exhibited excellent room-temperature tensile properties with a high yield strength of 876 MPa,ultimate tensile strength of 1198 MPa and a relatively large elongation to fracture of~9%.Dislocations gliding in the FCC phase governed the plastic deformation at the early stage of room-temperature tensile,and disordered dislocations were to form dislocation walls as the deformation proceeded.With further increase in strain to a high level,the stacking faults were generated through the dissociation of the geometrically necessary dislocations,serving as the potential heterogeneous nucleation sites for the deformation twins.Qiang Wang Liangcai Zeng Tengfei Gao Hui Du Xinwang Liu 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,28:2
12A reactive oxygen species-responsive hydrogel encapsulated with bone marrow derived stem cells promotes repair and regeneration of spinal cord injury显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)is an overwhelming and incurable disabling event accompanied by complicated inflammation-related pathological processes,such as excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)produced by the infiltrated inflammatory immune cells and released to the extracellular microenvironment,leading to the widespread apoptosis of the neuron cells,glial and oligodendroctyes.In this study,a thioketal-containing and ROS-scavenging hydrogel was prepared for encapsulation of the bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs),which promoted the neurogenesis and axon regeneration by scavenging the overproduced ROS and re-building a regenerative microenvironment.The hydrogel could effectively encapsulate BMSCs,and played a remarkable neuroprotective role in vivo by reducing the production of endogenous ROS,attenuating ROS-mediated oxidative damage and downregulating the inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β),interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),resulting in a reduced cell apoptosis in the spinal cord tissue.The BMSCs-encapsulated ROS-scavenging hydrogel also reduced the scar formation,and improved the neurogenesis of the spinal cord tissue,and thus distinctly enhanced the motor functional recovery of SCI rats.Our work provides a combinational strategy against ROS-mediated oxidative stress,with potential applications not only in SCI,but also in other central nervous system diseases with similar pathological conditions.Ziming Li Tengfei Zhao Jie Ding Haochen Gu Qiaoxuan Wang Yifan Wang Deteng Zhang Changyou Gao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,1:2

17Improving Dendritic Neuron Model With Dynamic Scale-Free Network-Based Differential Evolution显示文摘Some recent research reports that a dendritic neuron model(DNM)can achieve better performance than traditional artificial neuron networks(ANNs)on classification,prediction,and other problems when its parameters are well-tuned by a learning algorithm.However,the back-propagation algorithm(BP),as a mostly used learning algorithm,intrinsically suffers from defects of slow convergence and easily dropping into local minima.Therefore,more and more research adopts non-BP learning algorithms to train ANNs.In this paper,a dynamic scale-free network-based differential evolution(DSNDE)is developed by considering the demands of convergent speed and the ability to jump out of local minima.The performance of a DSNDE trained DNM is tested on 14 benchmark datasets and a photovoltaic power forecasting problem.Nine meta-heuristic algorithms are applied into comparison,including the champion of the 2017 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation(CEC2017)benchmark competition effective butterfly optimizer with covariance matrix adapted retreat phase(EBOwithCMAR).The experimental results reveal that DSNDE achieves better performance than its peers.Yang Yu Zhenyu Lei Yirui Wang Tengfei Zhang Chen Peng Shangce Gao 2022IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2022,9,1:1
18Enriched endoplasmic reticulum-mitochondria interactions result in mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis in oocytes from obese mice显示文摘Background: Maternal obesity alters oocytes and subsequent fetal metabolism. An increasing number of studies have shown that the endoplasmic reticulums(ER) or mitochondria have important effects on oocyte quality, but there has been no study of the effect of mitochondria-associated ER membranes(MAMs) on oocyte quality. The present study was designed to assess whether the level of MAM and MAM-related proteins were different in oocytes from obese and control mice.Results: First, oocytes from mice with high-fat-diet(HFD)-induced obesity had higher levels(either greater numbers or a higher proportion for the same numbers) of MAM than oocytes from control mice. The abundance of MAM-related proteins in oocytes from obese mice was significantly greater at both the messenger RNA and protein levels, including inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor, type 1(IP3R1), inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor,type 2(IP3 R2) and phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2(PACS-2). Further, there was an increase in mitochondrial Ca^(2+)([Ca^(2+)]_m) which was associated with increased apoptosis and compromised cytoplasmic maturation in oocytes from obese mice. Down-regulation of MAM-related protein IP3R1 in oocytes from obese mice decreased [Ca^(2+)]_mand apoptosis and improved cytoplasmic maturation but did not reduce the overal MAM level. However, down-regulating MAM-related protein PACS-2 in oocytes from obese mice did reduce the level of MAM and [Ca^(2+)]_m, which decreased the rate of apoptosis and improved cytoplasmic maturation of oocytes from obese mice.Conclusions: It is possible that enriched MAM could increase [Ca^(2+)]_m, and this increase has been found to be associated with increased apoptosis and compromised cytoplasmic maturation in oocytes from obese mice. 19An improved binocular localization method for apple based on fruit detection using deep learning显示文摘Apple picking robot is now being developed as an alternative to hand picking due to a great demand for labor during apple harvest season.Accurate detection and localization of target fruit is necessary for robotic apple picking.Detection accuracy has a great influence on localization results.Although current researches on detection and localization of apples using traditional image algorithms can obtain good results under laboratory conditions,it is difficult to accurately detect and locate objects in natural field with complex environments.With the rapid development of artificial intelligence,accuracy of apple detection based on deep learning has been significantly improved.Therefore,a deep learningbased method was developed to accurately detect and locate the position of fruit.For different localization methods,binocular localization is a widely used localization method for its bionic principle and lower equipment cost.Hence,this paper proposed an improved binocular localization method for apple based on fruit detection using deep learning.First,apples of binocular images were detected by Faster R-CNN.After that,a segmentation based on chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration ratio was applied to segment apple and background pixels in bounding box of detected fruit.Furthermore,template matching with parallel polar line constraint was used to match apples in left and right images.Finally,two feature points on apples were selected to directly calculate three dimensional coordinates of feature points with the binocular localization principle.In this study,Faster R-CNN achieved an AP of 88.12%with an average detection speed of 0.32 s for an image.Meanwhile,standard deviation and localization precision of depth of two feature points on each apple were calculated to evaluate localization.Results showed that the average standard deviation and the average localization precision of 76 groups of datasets were 0.51 cm and 99.64%,respectively.Results indicated that the proposed improved binocular localization method is promising for fruit localization。Tengfei Li Wentai Fang Guanao Zhao Fangfang Gao Zhenchao Wu Rui Li Longsheng Fu Jaspreet Dhupia 2023Information Processing in Agriculture2023,10,2:1
