4Exogenous Melatonin Improves Physiological Characteristics and Promotes Growth of Strawberry Seedlings Under Cadmium Stress显示文摘Melatonin,as a plant growth regulator,is involved in plant stress resistance.We studied the effects of different concentrations(0,10,50,100,150,and 200μmol·L−1)of melatonin on the growth and physiological characteristics of strawberry under cadmium(Cd)stress.The results represented that the growth of strawberry seedlings was inhibited under Cd stress,and the seedling biomass,chlorophyll content and the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),and ascorbate peroxidase(APX)decreased.These toxic effects were,however,effectively remediated by exogenous melatonin pretreatment.Melatonin treatment slowed the inhibitory effect of seedling growth and significantly increased seedling biomass,chlorophyll content,antioxidant enzyme activities,and soluble protein levels in leaves and roots compared with the control.Melatonin treatment also reduced the malondialdehyde(MDA)content and the oxidative stress reactions,increased the anthocyanin content,and slowed the senescence rate,thereby reducing the toxic effects of Cd on strawberries.This indicates that foliar application of melatonin can effectively remediate the adverse effects of Cd on strawberry seedlings;the greatest effect was obtained with melatonin concentration of 100μmol·L−1.Shuqing Wu Yao Wang Junkang Zhang Xiaojun Gong Zhen Zhang Jingjing Sun Xuesen Chen Yanling Wang 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,1:6
5Microstructure optimization of core@shell structured MSe_(2)/FeSe_(2)@MoSe_(2)(M=Co,Ni)flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites towards high-efficiency microwave absorption显示文摘In this work,we put forward a scheme to exquisitely design and selectively synthesize the core@shell structured MSe_(2)/FeSe_(2)@MoSe_(2)(M=Co,Ni)flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites(MCNCs)through a simple two-step hydrothermal reaction on the surfaces of MFe_(2)O_4 nanospheres with the certain amounts of Mo and Se sources.With increasing the amounts of Mo and Se sources,the obtained core@shell structured MSe_(2)/FeSe_(2)@MoSe_(2)(M=Co,Ni)MCNCs with the enhanced content of MoSe_(2)and improved flower-like geometry morphology could be produced on a large scale.The obtained results revealed that the as-prepared samples displayed improved comprehensive microwave absorption properties(CMAPs)with the increased amounts of Mo and Se sources.The as-prepared CoSe_(2)/FeSe_(2)@MoSe_(2)and NiSe_(2)/FeSe_(2)@MoSe_(2)MCNCs with the well-defined flower-like morphology could simultaneously present the outstanding CMAPs in terms of strong absorption capability,wide absorption bandwidth,and thin matching thicknesses,which mainly originated from the conduction loss and flower-like geometry morphology.Therefore,the findings not only develop the very desirable candidates for high-performance microwave absorption materials but also pave a new way for optimizing the CMAPs through tailoring morphology engineering.Jingjing Zhang Xiaosi Qi Xiu Gong Qiong Peng Yanli Chen Ren Xie Wei Zhong 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,33:5
6Intelligent multi-user detection using an artificial immune system显示文摘Artificial immune systems (AIS) are a kind of new computational intelligence methods which draw inspiration from the human immune system. In this study, we introduce an AIS-based optimization algorithm, called clonal selection algorithm, to solve the multi-user detection problem in code-division multipleaccess communications system based on the maximum-likelihood decision rule. Through proportional cloning, hypermutation, clonal selection and clonal death, the new method performs a greedy search which reproduces individuals and selects their improved maturated progenies after the affinity maturation process. Theoretical analysis indicates that the clonal selection algorithm is suitable for solving the multi-user detection problem. 7Coriander Genomics Database:a genomic,transcriptomic,and metabolic database for coriander显示文摘Coriander(Coriandrum sativum L.),also known as cilantro,is a globally important vegetable and spice crop.Its genome and that of carrot are models for studying the evolution of the Apiaceae family.Here,we developed the Coriander Genomics Database(CGDB,http://gffzzc8ce0bd092c048a1hucbf90v6vwb66fb0.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/)to collect,store,and integrate the genomic,transcriptomic,metabolic,functional annotation,and repeat sequence data of coriander and carrot to serve as a central online platform for Apiaceae and other related plants.Using these data sets in the CGDB,we intriguingly found that seven transcription factor(TF)families showed significantly greater numbers of members in the coriander genome than in the carrot genome.The highest ratio of the numbers of MADS TFs between coriander and carrot reached 3.15,followed by those for tubby protein(TUB)and heat shock factors.As a demonstration of CGDB applications,we identified 17 TUB family genes and conducted systematic comparative and evolutionary analyses.RNA-seq data deposited in the CGDB also suggest dose compensation effects of gene expression in coriander.CGDB allows bulk downloading,significance searches,genome browser analyses,and BLAST searches for comparisons between coriander and other plants regarding genomics,gene families,gene collinearity,gene expression,and the metabolome.A detailed user manual and contact information are also available to provide support to the scientific research community and address scientific questions.CGDB will be continuously updated,and new data will be integrated for comparative and functional genomic analysis in Apiaceae and other related plants.Xiaoming Song Fulei Nie Wei Chen Xiao Ma Ke Gong Qihang Yang Jinpeng Wang Nan Li Pengchuan Sun Qiaoying Pei Tong Yu Jingjing Hu Xinyu Li Tong Wu Shuyan Feng Xiu-Qing Li Xiyin Wang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:4
8High-resolution mapping of brain vasculature and its impairment in the hippocampus of Alzheimer’s disease mice显示文摘Accumulating evidence indicates the critical importance of cerebrovascular dysfunction in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).However,systematic comparative studies on the precise brain vasculature of wild-type and AD model mice are still rare.Using an image-optimization method for analysing Micro-Optical Sectioning Tomography(MOST)data,we generated cross-scale whole-brain 3 D atlases that cover the entire vascular system from large vessels down to smallest capillaries at submicron resolution,for both wild-type mice and a transgenic(APP/PS1)mouse model of AD.In addition to distinct vascular patterns in different brain regions,we found that the main vessels of the molecular layer of the hippocampal dentate gyrus(DG-ml)undergo abrupt changes in both diameter and branch angle,spreading a unique comb-like pattern of capillaries.By using a quantitative analysis workflow,we identified in the hippocampus of AD mice an overall reduction of the mean vascular diameter,volume fraction and branch angle,with most significant impairment in the DG-ml.In addition,virtual endoscopy revealed irregular morphological features in the vessel lumen of the AD mice,potentially contributing to the impairment of blood flow.Our results demonstrate the capability of high-resolution cross-scale evaluation of brain vasculature and underscore the importance of studying hippocampal microcirculation for understanding AD pathogenesis.Xiaochuan Zhang Xianzhen Yin Jingjing Zhang Anan Li Hui Gong Qingming Luo Haiyan Zhang Zhaobing Gao Hualiang Jiang 2019National Science Review2019,6,6:4
9Heat shock protein inhibitor, quercetin, as a novel adjuvant agent to improve radiofrequency ablation-induced tumor destruction and its molecular mechanism显示文摘Background: We investigated the effect of a small molecular inhibitor of heat shock protein(HSP), quercetin, on tumor radiofrequency(RF) ablation, and explored the underlying molecular mechanisms.Methods: In in vivo study, rats with R3230 breast adenocarcinoma were sacrificed 24 h post-treatment and gross coagulation areas were compared, and next, randomized into four treatment arms(control, quercetin alone, RF alone, and combination) for Kaplan-Meier analysis of defined endpoint survival. Then the distribution and expression levels of heat shock protein 70(HSP70), cleaved caspase-3 and heat shock factor 1(HSF1) were analyzed after different treatments. In in vitro study, we used quercetin to promote SKHEP-1(hepatic) and MCF-7(breast) cancer cell apoptosis in heat shock cell model, and si RNA was used to block c-Jun and to explore the role of activating protein-1(AP-1) signaling pathways.Results: We found the effects of quercetin plus RFA resulted in increase on the tumor destruction/endpoint survival(26.5±3.4 d) in vivo, compared with RF alone(17.6±2.5 d) and quercetin alone(15.7±3.1 d). Most importantly, quercetin-induced cancer cell death required the presence of HSF1 in animal model. 10Treated dentin matrix induces odontogenic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells via regulation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling显示文摘Treated dentin matrix(TDM)is an ideal scaffold material containing multiple extracellular matrix factors.The canonical Wnt signaling pathway is necessary for tooth regeneration.Thus,this study investigated whether the TDM can promote the odontogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells(hDPSCs)and determined the potential role of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in this process.Different concentrations of TDM promoted the dental differentiation of the hDPSCs and meanwhile,the expression of GSK3βwas decreased.Of note,the expression of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway-related genes changed significantly in the context of TDM induction,as per RNA sequencing(RNA seq)data.In addition,the experiment showed that new dentin was visible in rat mandible cultured with TDM,and the thickness was significantly thicker than that of the control group.In addition,immunohistochemical staining showed lower GSK3βexpression in new dentin.Consistently,the GSK3βknockdown hDPSCs performed enhanced odotogenesis compared with the control groups.However,GSK3βoverexpressing could decrease odotogenesis of TDM-induced hDPSCs.These results were confirmed in immunodeficient mice and Wistar rats.These suggest that TDM promotes odontogenic differentiation of hDPSCs by directly targeting GSK3βand activating the canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and provide a theoretical basis for tooth regeneration engineering.Sirui Liu Jingjing Sun Shuai Yuan Yanyu Yang Yuping Gong Ying Wang Runying Guo Xue Zhang Yiming Liu Hongyan Mi Meiyue Wang Mengzhe Liu Rui Li 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,1:2
11Comparison of lateral episiotomy,traditional midwifery without episiotomy,and hands-off techniques delivery on pelvic floor function显示文摘Background Prolonged vaginal delivery times and episiotomy are associated with damage to the muscles of the pelvic floor,and with complications that include postpartum sexual dysfunction and urinary stress incontinence.This study was to compare the pelvic floor function among postpartum women who underwent three midwifery practices during labor:lateral episiotomy,traditional midwifery without episiotomy,and hands-off techniques delivery.Methods We included 320 primipara who were full-term pregnancy and underwent vaginal delivery in Department of Obstetrics,Peking University People’s Hospital,China.117 women had episiotomy during labor and were classified into the lateral episiotomy group;103 had traditional midwifery without episiotomy and were classified into the traditional midwifery practice group;and 100 experienced hands-off techniques during labor and were classified into the hands-off techniques delivery group.The duration of the second stage of labor,and postpartum pelvic floor muscle strength were compared between the three study groups.Results There were no significant differences between the three groups for the duration of the second stage of labor and postpartum pelvic floor muscle strength(P>0.05).However,the incidence of postpartum urinary stress incontinence and sexual dysfunction in the hands-off techniques delivery group was significantly lower than in the lateral episiotomy groups and the traditional midwifery practice group(P<0.01).Conclusions Hands-off techniques delivery could reduce damage to the pelvic floor and improve the quality of life for women after delivery.Jingjing Gong Lili Xing Xiaodan Li Xiaona Wang Huijuan Chen 2021Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine2021,1,1:2
12Angiotensin I converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitory activity and antihypertensive effects of rice peptides显示文摘In this paper,the antihypertension effect of rice peptide(RP)was studied.With spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR)and Wistar Kyoto(WKY)as the research objects,RP disposable gastric and long-term gastric irrigation experiments were carried out and systolic blood pressure(SBP)was measured.At the end of the long-term gastric irrigation experiment,the content of nitric oxide(NO),angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE),angiotensin II(Ang II)and renin in the plasma and the activity of ACE were determined.The results showed that RP could reduce systolic pressure of SHR and had time-dose dependence while high-dose RP signifi cantly reduced systolic pressure by 24.6 and 17.2 mm Hg,respectively after a single and long-term gastric irrigation test.RP also could inhibit the activity of ACE and increase the release of NO.These results suggested that the decompression mechanism of RP is likely to be related to the regulation of the renin-angiotensin system(RAS)and NO.Jingjing Dong Shen Wang Xiaoyao Yin Min Fang Zhiyong Gong Yongning Wu 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,6:2
13Determination of inhibitory activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza extracts on xanthine oxidase with a paper-based analytical device显示文摘A novel paper-based analytical device(PAD)was prepared and applied to determine the xanthine oxidase(XOD)inhibitory activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza extracts(SME).First,polycaprolactone was 3D printed on filter paper and heated to form hydrophobic barriers.Then the modified paper was cut according to the specific design.Necessary reagents including XOD for the colorimetric assay were immobilized on two separate pieces of paper.By simply adding phosphate buffer,the reaction was performed on the double-layer PAD.Quantitative results were obtained by analyzing the color intensity with the specialized device system(consisting of a smartphone,a detection box and sandwich plates).The 3Dprinted detection box was small,with a size of 9.0 cm×7.0 cm×11.5 cm.Color component G performed well in terms of linearity and detection limits and thus was identified as the index.The reaction conditions were optimized using a definitive screening design.Moreover,a 10%glycerol solution was found to be a suitable stabilizer.When the stabilizer was added,the activity of XOD could be maintained for at least 15 days under 4℃ or-20℃ storage conditions.The inhibitory activity of SME was investigated and compared to that of allopurinol.The results obtained with the PAD showed agreement with those obtained with the microplate method.In conclusion,the proposed PAD method is simple,accurate and has a potential for point-of-care testing.It also holds promise for use in rapid quality testing of medicinal herbs,intermediate products,and preparations of traditional Chinese medicines.Xingchu Gong Jingyuan Shao Shangxin Guo Jingjing Pan Xiaohui Fan 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,5:1

19Mapping QTLs on BTA6 affecting milk production traits in a Chinese Holstein population显示文摘A Chinese Holstein population with daughter design was analyzed using 14 microsatellites covering a map distance of 55.7 cM on chromosome 6 to fine map QTL for five milk production traits. 26 paternal half-sib families with 2356 daughters were involved. Two different approaches, linear regression approach and variance component ap-proach, were employed, with a one-QTL model and two-QTL model fitted. With a one-QTL model, the linear regression approach revealed a QTL near BMS470 with effects on milk yield, fat yield, protein yield, and fat percentage, and another QTL near BMS2460 for protein percentage. The variance component approach confirmed the results of linear regres-sion approach for the three yield traits, with the exception that the QTL for fat yield was mapped to a different position near BMS1242. The 95% confidence intervals resulted from linear regression, obtained by bootstrapping, were generally large, ranging from 31 to 53 cM, whereas the variance com-ponent approach revealed very small confidence intervals, calculated by LOD drop-off method, for the three yield traits, only 4―5 cM. With a two-QTL model, both approaches pro-vided strong evidence for the existence of two QTLs for the three yield traits.
