| 1 | Small sphincterotomy combined with endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation versus sphincterotomy显示文摘AIM:To compare small sphincterotomy combined with endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation(SES+ ELBD)and endoscopic sphincterotomy(EST)for large bile duct stones. METHODS:We compared prospectively SES+ELBD (group A,n=27)with conventional EST(group B, n=28)for the treatment of large bile duct stones(≥ 15 mm).When the stone could not be removed with a normal basket,mechanical lithotripsy was performed. We compared the rates of complete stone removal with one session and application of mechanical lithotripsy. RESULTS:No significant differences were observed in the mean largest stone size(A:20.8 mm,B:21.3 mm), bile duct diameter(A:21.4 mm,B:20.5 mm),number of stones(A:2.2,B:2.3),or procedure time(A:18 min, B:19 min)between the two groups.The rates of complete stone removal with one session was 85%in group A and 86%in group B(P=0.473).Mechanical lithotripsy was required for stone removal in nine of 27 patients(33%)in group A and nine of 28 patients (32%,P=0.527)in group B.CONCLUSION:SES+ELBD did not show significant benefits compared to conventional EST,especially for the removal of large(≥15 mm)bile duct stones. | Hyun Gun Kim Young Koog Cheon Young Deok Cho Jong Ho Moon Do Hyun Park Tae Hoon Lee Hyun Jong Choi Sang-Heum Park Joon Seong Lee Moon Sung Lee | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,34: | 34 |
| 2 | Targeted and effective photodynamic therapy for cancer using functionalized nanomaterials显示文摘Photodynamic therapy(PDT) is an emerging, non-invasive therapeutic strategy that involves photosensitizer(PS) drugs and external light for the treatment of diseases. Despite the great progress in PS-mediated PDT, their clinical applications are still hampered by poor water solubility and tissue/cell specificity of conventional PS drugs. Therefore, great efforts have been made towards the development of nanomaterials that can tackle fundamental challenges in conventional PS drug–mediated PDT for cancer treatment. | 3 | HER2-induced metastasis is mediated by AKT/JNK/EMT signaling pathway in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM To investigated the relationships between HER2, c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) and protein kinase B(AKT) with respect to metastatic potential of HER2-positive gastric cancer(GC) cells.METHODS Immunohistochemistry was performed on tissue array slides containing 423 human GC specimens. Using HER2-positve GC cell lines SNU-216 and NCI-N87, HER2 expression was silenced by RNA interference, and the activations of JNK and AKT were suppressed by SP600125 and LY294002, respectively. Transwell assay, Western blot, semi-quantitative reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence staining were used in cell culture experiments. RESULTS In GC specimens, HER2, JNK, and AKT activations were positively correlated with each other. In vitro analysis revealed a positive regulatory feedback loop between HER2 and JNK in GC cell lines and the role of JNK as a downstream effector of AKT in the HER2/AKT signaling pathway. JNK inhibition suppressed migratory capacity through reversing EMT and dual inhibition of JNK and AKT induced a more profound effect on cancer cell motility.CONCLUSION HER2, JNK and AKT in human GC specimens are positively associated with each other. JNK and AKT, downstream effectors of HER2, co-operatively contribute to the metastatic potential of HER2-positive GC cells.
