Tectonics of South China Continent and its implications显示文摘This paper aims at exploring the tectonic characteristics of the South China Continent(SCC)and extracting the universal tectonic rules from these characteristics,to help enrich the plate tectonic theory and better understand the continental dynamic system. For this purpose, here we conduct a multi-disciplinary investigation and combine it with the previous studies to reassess the tectonics and evolution of SCC and propose that the tectonic framework of the continent comprises two blocks, three types of tectonic units, four deformation systems, and four evolutionary stages with distinctive mechanism and tectonic characteristics since the Neoproterozoic. The four evolutionary stages are:(1)The amalgamation and break-up of the Neoproterozoic plates, typically the intracontinental rifting.(2)The early Paleozoic and Mesozoic intracontinental orogeny confined by plate tectonics, forming two composite tectonic domains.(3)The parallel operation of the Yangtze cratonization and intracontinental orogeny, and multi-phase reactivation of the Yangtze craton.(4)The association and differentiation evolution of plate tectonics and intracontinental tectonics, and the dynamic characteristics under the Meso-Cenozoic modern global plate tectonic regime.ZHANG GuoWei GUO AnLin WANG YueJun LI SanZhong DONG YunPeng LIU ShaoFeng HE DengFa CHENG ShunYou LU RuKui YAO AnPing 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,11:88
Comparisons between centrifuge and numerical modeling results for slope toppling failure显示文摘This paper presents series studies on the toppling mechanism by centrifuge tests and numerical simulations. Two different discrete element methods, i.e., the continuum-based discrete element method(CDEM) and the discontinuous deformation analysis(DDA), are adopted. The modeling results show that both the methods can accurately capture the failure modes of the centrifuge tests, including three distinct zones and two failure surfaces. Comparisons are made between the physical test and numerical simulation results. The critical inclination angle of the tilting table where the slope models are fixed on can be moderately predicted by the two methods, with different degrees of precision. The error between the test results and the simulated results is within 1% for the slope models without rock-bridges by both CDEM and DDA. However, it is amplified for the staggered-joint models that simulate the rock-bridges. With DDA, the average error is about 5%, and the maximum error is up to 17%. While with CDEM, the errors for the aligned-joint models are ranged from 1% to 6%, and it is from 10% to 29% for the staggered-joint models. The two numerical methods show the capability in simulating toppling failure of blocky rock mass with and without rock-bridges. The model with rock-bridges which provides a certain bending resistance is more stable than the one without any rock-bridge. In addition, the two failure surfaces were observed, which is different from the common understanding that only one failure surface appears.CHEN ZuYu GONG WenJun MA GuoWei WANG Jie HE Lei XING YiChuan XING JianYing 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,9:18
VALUE-ADDED SERVICE INVESTING AND PRICING STRATEGIES FOR A TWO-SIDED PLATFORM UNDER INVESTING RESOURCE CONSTRAINT显示文摘在增值服务(管) 上投资放大用户参予和站台利润。 Guowei Dou Ping He 2017Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2017,26,5:10
Wall-modeling for large-eddy simulation of flows around an axisymmetric body using the diffuse-interface immersed boundary method显示文摘A novel method is proposed to combine the wall-modeled large-eddy simulation(LES) with the diffuse-interface direct-forcing immersed boundary(IB) method. The new developments in this method include:(i) the momentum equation is integrated along the wall-normal direction to link the tangential component of the effective body force for the IB method to the wall shear stress predicted by the wall model;(ii) a set of Lagrangian points near the wall are introduced to compute the normal component of the effective body force for the IB method by reconstructing the normal component of the velocity. This novel method will be a classical direct-forcing IB method if the grid is fine enough to resolve the flow near the wall. The method is used to simulate the flows around the DARPA SUBOFF model. The results obtained are well comparable to the measured experimental data and wall-resolved LES results.Beiji SHI Xiaolei YANG Guodong JIN Guowei HE Shizhao WANG 2019Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2019,40,3:8
Corrosion behavior of bulk metallic glasses in different aqueous solutions显示文摘The corrosion behavior of as-cast fully amorphous, structural relaxed amorphous and crystallized Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) in NaCl, HCl and NaOH solutions was investigated by electrochemical polarization and immersion methods. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements was used to analyze the changes of the elements on the alloy surface before and after immersion in various solutions. The corrosion resistance of the Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 BMG was better than its structural relaxation/crystallization counterparts and common alloys (such as stainless steel, carbonized steel, and steel) in the selected aqueous solutions. The high corrosion resistance of this alloy in corrosive solutions leads to the formation of Fe-, Cr- and Mo-enriched protective thin surface films.LI Gong, HUANG Lei, DONG YanGuo, HE GuoWei, QI Li, JING Qin, MA MingZhen & LIU RiPing State Key Laboratory of Metastable Materials Science and Technology, Yanshan University, Qinhuangdao 066004, China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,3:6

SARS-CoV-2 promotes RIPK1 activation to facilitate viral propagation显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),is the ongoing global pandemic that poses substantial challenges to public health worldwide.A subset of COVID-19 patients experience systemic inflammatory response, known as cytokine storm, which may lead to death.Receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1(RIPK1)is an important mediator of inflammation and cell death. Here,we examined the interaction of RIPK1-mediated innate immunity with SARS-CoV-2 infection. We found evidence of RIPK1 activation in human COVID-19 lung pathological samples, and cultured human lung organoids and ACE2 transgenic mice infected by SARS-CoV-2.Inhibition of RIPK1 using multiple smallmolecule inhibitors reduced the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in human lung organoids.Furthermore, therapeutic dosing of the RIPK1 inhibitor Nec-1s reduced mortality and lung viral load, and blocked the CNS manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 in ACE2 transgenic mice.Mechanistically,we found that the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of SARS-CoV-2,NSP12,a highly conserved central component of coronaviral replication and transcription machinery, promoted the activation of RIPK1.Furthermore,NSP12323L variant, encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 C14408T variant first detected in Lombardy,Italy, that carries a Pro323Leu amino acid substitution in NSP12,showed increased ability to activate RIPK1.Inhibition of RIPK1 downregulated the transcriptional induction of proinflammatory cytokines and host factors including ACE2 and EGFR that promote viral entry into cells. Our results suggest that SARS-CoV-2 may have an unexpected and unusual ability to hijack the RIPK1-mediated host defense response to promote its own propagation and that inhibition of RIPK1 may provide a therapeutic option for the treatment of COVID-19.Gang Xu Ying Li Shengyuan Zhang Haoran Peng Yunyun Wang Dekang Li Taijie Jin Zhuohao He Yilun Tong Chunting Qi Guowei Wu Kangyun Dong Jizhou Gou Yang Liu Tongyang Xiao Jing Qu Liang Li Liang Liu Ping Zhao Zheng Zhang Junying Yuan 2021Cell Research2021,31,12:6
A large eddy simulation of flows around an underwater vehicle model using an immersed boundary method显示文摘A large eddy simulation(LES) of the flows around an underwater vehicle model at intermediate Reynolds numbers is performed. The underwater vehicle model is taken as the DARPA SUBOFF with full appendages, where the Reynolds number based on the hull length is 1.0×105. An immersed boundary method based on the moving-least-squares reconstruction is used to handle the complex geometric boundaries. The adaptive mesh refinement is utilized to resolve the flows near the hull. The parallel scalabilities of the flow solver are tested on meshes with the number of cells varying from 50 million to 3.2 billion. The parallel solver reaches nearly linear scalability for the flows around the underwater vehicle model. The present simulation captures the essential features of the vortex structures near the hull and in the wake. Both of the time-averaged pressure coefficients and streamwise velocity profiles obtained from the LES are consistent with the characteristics of the flows pass an appended axisymmetric body. The code efficiency and its correct predictions on flow features allow us to perform the full-scale simulations on tens of thousands of cores with billions of grid points for higher-Reynolds-number flows around the underwater vehicles.Shizhao Wang Beiji Shi Yuhang Li Guowei He 2016Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2016,6,6:5
Human embryonic stem cells-derived endothelial cell therapy facilitates kidney regeneration by stimulating renal resident stem cell proliferation in acute kidney injury显示文摘Endothelial cell therapy has been implicated to enhance tissue regeneration and vascularization in ischemic kidney. However, no published study has yet examined direct effects of endothelial cell treatment in kidney recovery. This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of endothelial cells in a mouse model with acute kidney injury (AKI). Thus, human embryonic stem cells-derived endothelial cells (hESC-ECs) labeled with a reporter system encoding a double fusion reporter gene for firefly luciferase (Fluc) and green fluorescent protein (GFP) were characterized by Fluc imaging and immunofluoresence staining. Cultured hESC-ECs (1×106) were injected into ischemic kidney shortly after AKI. Survival of the transplanted hESC-ECs was monitored in vivo from day 1 to 14 after endothelial cell transplantation and potential impact of hESC-EC treatment on renal regeneration was assessed by histological analyses. We report that a substantial level of bioluminescence activity was detected 24 h after hESC-EC injection followed by a gradual decline from 1 to 14 d. Human ESC-ECs markedly accelerated kidney cell proliferation in response to ischaemia-induced damage, indicated by an elevated number of BrdU+ cells. Co-expression of Sca-1, a kidney stem cell proliferation marker, and BrdU further suggested that the observed stimulation in renal cell regeneration was, at least in part, due to increased proliferation of renal resident stem cells especially within the medullary cords and arteriole. Differentiation of hESC-ECs to smooth muscle cells was also observed at an early stage of kidney recovery. In summary, our results suggest that endothelial cell therapy facilitates kidney recovery by promoting vascularization, trans-differentiation and endogenous renal stem cell proliferation in AKI.JIA XiaoHua L He LI Chen FENG GuoWei YAO XinPeng MAO LiNa KE TingYu CHE YongZhe XU Yong LI ZongJin KONG DeLing 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,23:4
A numerical study of a turbulent mixing layer and its generated noise显示文摘A direct numerical simulation of a turbulent mixing layer with the Reynolds number 500 and the convective Mach number 0.6 is performed and the results obtained are used to study the turbulent flow field and its generated noise. In the present simulation, the numerical techniques of absorbing buffer zones, artificial convection velocity and spatial filtering are used to achieve nonreflecting boundary conditions. The self-similarity is used to validate the present numerical simulations. The large-scale coherent structures are plotted together with the acoustic waves, which demonstrates the directivity of acoustic waves. The Lighthill's source and space-time correlations are further investigated. The main contributions to mixing noise are identified in terms of large-scale coherent structures,Lighthill's source and space-time correlations.LI Dong GUO Li ZHANG Xing HE GuoWei 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,6:4
Wall-resolved large-eddy simulation of turbulent channel flows with rough walls显示文摘Turbulent flows over rough surfaces widely exist in nature and industry.Investigating its mechanism is of theoretical and practical significance. In this work we simulate the turbulent channel flow with rough walls using large-eddy simulation with rough elements resolved using the curvilinear immersed boundary method and compare the results obtained in this work with those in the paper by Yuan and Piomelli(J.Fluid Mech.,vol.760,pp.R1,2014),where the volume of fluid method was employed for modeling rough elements. The mean streamwise velocity profiles predicted by the two methods agree well with each other.Differences in Reynolds stresses and dispersive stresses are observed, which are attributed to the different approaches in dealing with the complex geometry of the rough surface.Shilong Li Xiaolei Yang Guodong Jin Guowei He 2021Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2021,11,1:3
Large-eddy simulation of circular cylinder flow at subcritical Reynolds number:Turbulent wake and sound radiation显示文摘The flows past a circular cylinder at Reynolds number 3900 are simulated using large-eddy simulation(LES) and the far-field sound is calculated from the LES results. A low dissipation energy-conserving finite volume scheme is used to discretize the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. The dynamic global coefficient version of the Vreman's subgrid scale(SGS) model is used to compute the sub-grid stresses. Curle's integral of Lighthill's acoustic analogy is used to extract the sound radiated from the cylinder. The profiles of mean velocity and turbulent fluctuations obtained are consistent with the previous experimental and computational results. The sound radiation at far field exhibits the characteristic of a dipole and directivity. The sound spectra display the-5/3 power law. It is shown that Vreman's SGS model in company with dynamic procedure is suitable for LES of turbulence generated noise.Li Guo Xing Zhang Guowei He 2016Acta Mechanica Sinica2016,32,1:3

Subgrid-scale contributions to Lagrangian time correlations in isotropic turbulence显示文摘The application of large-eddy simulation(LES)to particle-laden turbulence raises such a fundamental ques-tion as whether the LES with a subgrid scale(SGS)model cancorrectly predict Lagrangian time correlations(LTCs).Mostof the currently existing SGS models are constructed basedon the energy budget equations. Therefore, they are able tocorrectly predict energy spectra, but they may not ensure thecorrect prediction on the LTCs.Previous researches investi-gated the effect of the SGS modeling on the Eulerian timecorrelations. This paper is devoted to study the LTCs in LES.A direct numerical simulation(DNS)and the LES with aspectral eddy viscosity model are performed for isotropicturbulence and the LTCs are calculated using the passivevector method. Both a priori and a posteriori tests are car-ried out.It is observed that the subgrid-scale contributions tothe LTCs cannot be simply ignored and the LES overpredictsthe LTCs than the DNS.It is concluded from the straininghypothesis that an accurate prediction of enstrophy spectrais most critical to the prediction of the LTCs.Jian Zhang Guowei He Lipeng Lu 2009Acta Mechanica Sinica2009,25,1:2
Endoplasmic reticulum stress mediates homocysteine-induced hypertrophy of cardiac cells through activation of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 1C显示文摘Although the association of elevated homocysteine level with cardiac hypertrophy has been reported, the molecular mechanisms by which homocysteine induces cardiac hypertrophy remain inadequately understood. In this study we aim to uncover the roles of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 1(PDE1)and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and their relationship to advance the mechanistic understanding of homocysteine-induced cardiac cell hypertrophy.H9c2 cells and primary neonatal rat cardiomyocytes are exposed to homocysteine with or without ER stress inhibitor TUDCA or PDE1-specific inhibitor Lu AF58027,or transfected with siRNAs targeting PDE1 isoforms prior to homocysteine-exposure.Cell surface area is measured and ultrastructure is examined by transmission electron microscopy.Hypertrophic markers,PDE1 isoforms, and ER stress molecules are detected by q-PCR and western blot analysis.Intracellular cGMP and cAMP are measured by ELISA.The results show that homocysteine causes the enlargement of H9c2 cells, increases the expressions of hypertrophic markers β-MHC and ANP,upregulates PDE1A and PDE1C,promotes the expressions of ER stress molecules, and causes ER dilatation and degranulation.TUDCA and Lu AF58027 downregulate β-MHC and ANP,and alleviate cell enlargement.TUDCA decreases PDE1A and PDE1C levels.Silencing of PDE1C inhibits homocysteine-induced hypertrophy, whereas PDE1A knockdown has minor effect. Both cAMP and cGMP are decreased after homocysteine-exposure,while only cAMP is restored by Lu AF58027 and TUDCA.TUDCA and Lu AF58027 also inhibit cell enlargement, downregulate ANP,β-MHC and PDE1C,and enhance cAMP level in homocysteine-exposed primary cardiomyocytes.ER stress mediates homocysteine-induced hypertrophy of cardiac cells via upregulating PDE1C expression.Cyclic nucleotide, especially cAMP,is the downstream mediator of the ER stress-PDE1C signaling axis in homocysteine-induced cell hypertrophy.Wentao Sun Yang Zhou Hongmei Xue Haitao Hou Guowei He Qin Yang 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,3:2
An implicit relation between temperature and reaction rate in the SLFM显示文摘The Arrhenius law implies that reaction rate is a continuous function of temperature. However, the steady laminar flamelet model(SLFM) does not explicitly give this functional relationship. The present study addresses this relation in the SLFM.It is found that reaction rate is not continuous in the mixture-fraction space. As a result, the SLFM is unable to predict local extinction and reignition.Furthermore,we use the unstable branch of the'S-curve'to fill the gap between steady burning branch and extinctio...Jian Zhang,~(a)) Guowei He,~(b)) and Guodong Jin LNM,Institute of Mechanics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100190,China 2011Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2011,1,1:2
Error of large-eddy simulation in the wall pressure fluctuation of a turbulent channel flow显示文摘We analyze the error of large-eddy simulation(LES)in wall pressure fluctuation of a turbulent channel flow.To separate different sources of the error,we conduct both direct numerical simulations(DNS)and LES,and apply an explicit filter on DNS data to obtain filtered DNS(FDNS)data. The error of LES is consequently decomposed into two parts:The first part is the error of FDNS with respect to DNS,which quantifies the influence of the filter operation. The second part is the difference between LES and FDNS induced by the error of LES in velocity field.By comparing the root-mean-square value and the wavenumber-frequency spectrum of the wall pressure fluctuation,it is found that the inaccuracy of the velocity fluctuations is the dominant source that induces the error of LES in the wall pressure fluctuation. The present study provides a basis on future LES studies of the wall pressure fluctuation.Rong Li Bowen Yang Zixuan Yang Shizao Wang Guowei He 2021Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2021,11,4:1
Bimetallic nickel cobalt sulfides with hierarchical coralliform architecture for ultrafast and stable Na-ion storage显示文摘A series of bimetallic nickel cobalt sulfides with hierarchical micro/nano architectures were fabricated via a facile synthesis strategy of bimetallic micro/nano structure precursor construction-anion exchange via solvothermal method. Among the nickel cobalt sulfides with different Ni/Co contents, the coral-like Ni1.01Co1.99S4 (Ni/Co, 1/2) delivers ultrafast and stable Na-ion storage performance (350 mAh·g−1 after 1,000 cycles at 1 A·g−1 and 355 mAh·g−1 at 5 A·g−1). The remarkable electrochemical properties can be attributed to the enhanced conductivity by co-existence of bimetallic components, the unique coral-like micro/nanostructure, which could prevent structural collapse and self-aggregation of nanoparticles, and the easily accessibility of electrolyte, and fast Na+ diffusion upon cycling. Detailed kinetics studies by a galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT) reveal the dynamic change of Na+ diffusion upon cycling, and quantitative kinetic analysis indicates the high contribution of pseudocapacitive behavior during charge-discharge processes. Moreover, the ex-situ characterization analysis results further verify the Na-ion storage mechanism based on conversion reaction. This study is expected to provide a feasible design strategy for the bimetallic sulfides materials toward high performance sodium-ion batteries.Yanyan He Caifu Dong Sijia He Huan Li Xiuping Sun Yuan Cheng Guowei Zhou Liqiang Xu 2021Nano Research2021,14,11:1

Numerical simulation of drop oscillation in AC electrowetting显示文摘In this paper,a 'macroscopic-scale' numerical method for drop oscillation in AC electrowetting is presented. The method is based on a high-fidelity moving mesh interface tracking(MMIT) approach and a 'microscopic model' for the moving contact line. The contact line model developed by Ren et al.[Phys Fluids,2010,22:102103] is used in the simulation. To determine the slip length in this model,we propose a calibration procedure using the experimental data of drop spreading in DC electrowetting. In the simulation, the frequency of input AC voltage varies in a certain range while the root-mean-square value remains fixed. The numerical simulation is validated against the experiment and it shows that the predicted resonance frequencies for different oscillation modes agree reasonably well with the experiment. The origins of discrepancy between simulation and experiment are analyzed in the paper.Further investigation is also conducted by including the contact angle hysteresis into the contact line model to account for the 'stick-slip' behavior.A noticeable improvement on the prediction of resonance frequencies is achieved by using the hysteresis model.LI XiaoLiang HE GuoWei ZHANG Xing 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,2:1
