| 1 | Ten cities cross-sectional questionnaire survey of children asthma and other allergies in China显示文摘Asthma,rhinitis and eczema(allergic or non-allergic)have increased throughout the world during the last decades,especially among children.Changes in the indoor environment are suspected to be important causes.China has experienced a dramatic change in indoor environmental exposures during the past two decades.However,such changes and their associations with children’s asthma and other health aspects have not been thoroughly studied.China,Children,Homes,Health(CCHH),Phase I,was a cross-sectional questionnaire survey of 48219 children 1–8 years old in 10 Chinese cities during 2010–2012.The questionnaire includes the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood(ISAAC)core health questions and additional questions regarding housing,life habits and outdoor environment.In health analyses,children aged 3–6 years old were included.The prevalences of doctor diagnosed asthma varied from 1.7%to 9.8%(mean 6.8%),a large increase from 0.91%in 1999 and 1.50%in2000.The prevalence of wheeze,rhinitis and atopic eczema(last 12 months)varied from 13.9%to 23.7%,24.0%to 50.8%and4.8%to 15.8%,respectively.Taiyuan had the lowest prevalences of all illnesses and Shanghai the highest,except for wheezewhere the highest value was for Urumqi.We found(1)no obvious association between disease prevalences and ambient PM10concentrations and(2)higher prevalences of disease in humid climates with hot summers and cold winters,but with no centrally heated buildings.Associations between the diseases and economic status as indexed by Gross Domestic Product(GDP)requires further study. | ZHANG YinPing LI BaiZhan HUANG Chen YANG Xu QIAN Hua DENG QiHong ZHAO ZhuoHui LI AnGui ZHAO JiaNing ZHANG Xin QU Fang HU Yu YANG Qin WANG Juan ZHANG Ming WANG Fang ZHENG XiaoHong LU Chan LIU ZhiJian SUN YueXia MO JinHan ZHAO YiLi LIU Wei WANG TingTing NORBCK Dan BORNEHAG Carl-Gustaf SUNDELL Jan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34: | 22 |

| 3 | Transcriptional landscape of rice roots at the single-cell resolution显示文摘There are two main types of root systems in flowering plants,namely taproot systems of dicots and fibrous root systems found in monocots.Despite this fundamental split,our current knowledge of cellular and molecular mechanism driving root development is mainly based on studies of the dicot model Arabidopsis.However,the world major crops are monocots and little is known about the transcriptional programs underlying cell-type specification in this clade.Here,we report the transcriptomes of more than 20000 single cells derived from root tips of two agronomically important rice cultivars.Using combined computational and experimental analyses we were able to robustly identify most of the major cell types and define novel cell-type-specific marker genes for both cultivars.Importantly,we found divergent cell types associated with specific regulatory programs,including phytohormone biosynthesis,signaling,and response,which were well conserved between the two rice cultivars.In addition,we detected substantial differences between the cell-type transcript profiles of Arabidopsis and rice.These species-specific features emphasize the importance of analyzing tissues across diverse model species,including rice.Taken together,our study provides insight into the transcriptomic landscape of major cell types of rice root tip at single-cell resolution and opens new avenues to study cell-type specification,function,and evolution in plants. | Qing Liu Zhe Liang Dan Feng Sanjie Jiang Yifan Wang Zhuoying Du Ruoxi Li Guihua Hu Pingxian Zhang Yanfei Ma Jan ULohmann Xiaofeng Gu | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,3: | 9 |
| 4 | Short-term Celecoxib intervention is a safe and effective chemopreventive for gastric carcinogenesis based on a Mongolian gerbil model显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the optimal intervention point of a selective cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) inhibitor,Celecoxib,for inhibiting Helicobacter pylori(H pylori)-associated gastric carcinogenesis in Mongolian gerbils(MGs).METHODS:One hundred and twelve MGs were divided into six groups(A-F).One hundred gerbils were inoculated with H pylori(groups A-E).Twelve gerbils were inoculated with vehicle broth only(group F).After 4 wk,they were given N'-methyl-N' -nitro-N-nitroso-guanidine(MNNG)(50 μg/mL) in the drinking water for 20 wk.In groups B-E,the animals were given the stock Celecoxib(10 mg/kg per day) diet from the 21st,31st,21st and 41st week respectively.The periods of administering Celecoxib were 30,20,20,and 15 wk respectively.On the 51st week,the animals were sacrificed for histological examination.Local PCNA expression was examined by the immunohistochemistry method.The expression of COX-2 protein was assessed by Western Blot.Analysis used the χ2 test.The difference was regarded as signifi cant when P value was less than 0.05.RESULTS:Seventeen percent(17/100) of H pylori-infected MGs developed gastric cancer.All of these lesions were well-differentiated adenocarcinoma.The incidence rates of adenocarcinoma in groups A-F were 40%,0%,0%,20%,25%,and 0% respectively.The inflammatory scores were higher in group B than in other groups.There was no inflammatory response noted in group F.Celecoxib treatment resulted in a significant reduction in the proliferation of H pylori-infected mucosal cells(groups B,C and D)(P < 0.01).The expression of COX-2 protein was significantly attenuated in the groups which were Celecoxib-treated for more than 20 wk(groups B,C,D).The groups treated with Celecoxib had a significantly lower rate of advanced gastric cancer(34% vs 75%,P<0.001) There were no sudden deaths in any of the groups.CONCLUSION:Short-term treatment with Celecoxib has an anti-carcinogenic effect,and resulted in less severe inflammation and inhibited the invasive degree of gastric cancer. | Chao-Hung Kuo Huang-Ming Hu Pei-Yun Tsai I-Chen Wu Sheau-Fang Yang Lin-Li Chang Jaw-Yuan Wang Chang-Ming Jan Wen-Ming Wang Deng-Chyang Wu | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,39: | 9 |
| 5 | Pet-keeping and its impact on asthma and allergies among preschool children in Shanghai, China显示文摘Whether early pet-keeping is a risk factor for children’s asthma and allergies remains controversial.To investigate associations between asthma,allergies and airway symptoms among children and the indoor environment,a cross-sectional study was conducted in 5 districts of Shanghai.A number of 13335 questionnaires(response rate:85.3%)of 4–6 year old children were analyzed.Families in urban areas have more pets except for dogs than families in suburbs.Fish are the most common pets in urban districts.The prevalence of doctor-diagnosed asthma was 10.3%,wheeze(ever)28.3%,rhinitis(ever)54.1%,doctor-diagnosed hay fever 12.6%and eczema(ever)22.9%.In logistic regression analyses,early furred pet-keeping was positively associated with most of the symptoms and significantly with rhinitis(ever,adjusted OR=1.41,95%CI=1.14–1.76)and doctor-diagnosed hay fever(1.38,1.02–1.88).Current furred pet-keeping was significantly negatively associated with doctor-diagnosed asthma(0.57,0.39–0.83).Persistent furred pet-keeping was significantly positively associated with rhinitis on pet or pollen exposure.However,current pet-keeping is not randomly distributed in the population.Children in families with'allergy'or with'pet avoidance behavior'(due to allergies in the family)have more symptoms,but have avoided cats and dogs,leading to the conclusion that such animals are'protective',namely the'Healthy Pet-Keeping'effect.Moreover,rodents and birds are risks for children’s health.Fish-keeping is also seemingly a risk.This study indicates that early pet-keeping is a risk factor for asthma and allergies in families with a history of allergies,and part of residents in Shanghai have pet-avoidance behavior. | HUANG Chen HU Yu LIU Wei ZOU ZhiJun SUNDELL Jan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34: | 8 |

| 7 | Associations between indoor environmental smoke and respiratory symptoms among preschool children in Shanghai, China显示文摘Whether indoor environmental smoke is harmful for preschool children’s respiratory health in a society where female smoking is rare has not been determined.This study is part of a cross-sectional study(CCHH study-phase one in Shanghai)and investigated associations between parental smoking and incense-burning and respiratory symptoms among 4–6 year old children in Shanghai,China.A number of 13335 valid questionnaires(response rate:85.3%)were analyzed.A number of 56.1%(as reported by a parent)of preschool children in Shanghai are exposed to environmental tobacco smoke(ETS).A number of 40.3%of fathers and0.9%of mothers are smokers.A number of 53.7%and 12.6%of Shanghai residents have used mosquito-repellent incense and incensation respectively.Children exposed to any parental smoking have higher prevalence of wheeze and croup than those not exposed.Current maternal smoking has a significant and positive association with wheeze(in the last 12 months,AOR,95%CI:1.83,1.11–2.99).However,paternal smoking either currently or at child’s birth had only weak associations with wheeze and croup.Incense-burning(mosquito-repellent incense and incensation)had significant and negative association with doctor-diagnosed asthma(AOR,95%CI:0.85,0.73–0.99)and hay fever(AOR,95%CI:0.80,0.70–0.93).The results indicate that maternal smoking perhaps is a stronger risk factor for children’s respiratory health than paternal smoking. | LIU Wei HUANG Chen HU Yu ZOU ZhiJun SUNDELL Jan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34: | 4 |

| 10 | Retrograde metamorphism of the eclogite in North Qaidam,western China:Constraints by joint ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar in vacuo crushing and stepped heating显示文摘Two amphiboles and a syn-metamorphic quartz vein from the Yuka terrane,North Qaidam,western China,have been analyzed by joint ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar crushing in vacuo and stepwise heating techniques.The crushing in vacuo results provide information to directly constrain the timing of fluid activity and the age of amphibolite-facies retrogression.The stepwise heating results could further be used to decipher the thermal history of the UHP rocks.Amphiboles from amphibolites and quartz vein within garnetamphibolite lens analyzed by in vacuo crushing yield similarly shaped age spectra and exhibit relatively flat age plateaus for the last several steps.The characteristics of gas release patterns and geochronological data testify to the presence of significant excess ^(40)Ar within the fluid inclusions.The age plateaux with weighted mean ages(WMA) ranges from 488 to 476 Ma for amphiboles and 403 Ma for quartz(2σ).These data points constitute amphibole WMA yielding excellent isochrons with isochron ages of 469 and 463 Ma with initial ^(40)Ar/^(36)Ar ratios of 520 and 334,respectively.The isochron ages are interpreted to represent initial amphibolite-facies retrogression.The data points constituting the quartz age plateaux give an isochron age of 405 Ma with initial ^(40)Ar/^(36)Ar ratio of 295,recording a significant aqueous fluid flow episode during the early Devonian.Age spectra obtained by stepwise heating of amphibole residues remaining after crushing experiments are characterized by younger and relatively complex age spectra,which are probably influenced by the combined effects of resetting argon and/or mineral inclusions.Nevertheless,we note that the spectra shapes have features in common:excluding the last two steps,minimum apparent ages are found at temperatures of around 500 ℃,corresponding to319 and 249 Ma,perhaps representing the time of isotopic resetting or resulting from release gas from mineral inclusions of,e.g.,biotite or feldspar.Maximum apparent ages are obtained at temperatures of around 800℃,corresponding to 418 and 413 Ma,which probably reflect mixed ages of radiogenic resetting and original amphibole.These results indicate that the Yuka eclogites and their retrogressed equivalents were overprinted by multiple thermal events in the Silurian and possibly as young as the Triassic. | Rongguo Hu Jan Wijbrans Fraukje Brouwer Linghao Zhao Min Wang Huaning Qiu | 2015 | Geoscience Frontiers2015,6,5: | 4 |

| 12 | Occurrence of Excess ^40Ar in Amphibole: Implications of ^40Ar/^39Ar Dating by Laser Stepwise Heating and in vacuo Crushing显示文摘The joint methods of ^(40)/^(39)Ar laser stepwise heating and in vacuo crushing have been applied to date amphiboles from the North Qaidam ultra-high pressure metamorphic amphibolites. Two amphibole samples analyzed by laser heating yielded saddle-shaped age spectra with total gas ages of 574.5±2.5 and 562.5±2.5 Ma. These ages are much older than the reported zircon U-Pb ages(~495 Ma) from Yuka eclogite, indicating the presence of excess 40 Ar. In order to decipher the occurrence of excess ^(40) and constrain the age of amphibolite-facies retrogression, two duplicate amphibole samples were further employed for ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar in vacuo crushing analyses. Both samples exhibit similar monotonically declining release spectra, which are characterized by rapid decline of anomalously old apparent ages in the early steps. The data of the late steps yielded concordant apparent ages with plateau ages of 460.9±1.2 and 459.6±1.8 Ma.
