| 1 | Radio Wave Propagation Effects Produced by Chemical Releases in the Ionosphere显示文摘As an effective means to actively modify the ionosphere,chemical release can produce artificial ionospheric holes as a consequence of ionization depletion,which can greatly impact on radio wave propagation.In this paper,on the basis of the pre-study results on ionospheric disturbances produced by some representative chemical releases,the radio waves propagation effects of ionospheric holes that are produced by two different release species,water(H2O) and sulfur hexafluoride(SF6),had been investigated and simulated by the three-dimensional(3-D) numerical ray tracing.The results show that ① the appearance of various artificial ionospheric holes can lead to certain decrease of critical frequency in the ionosphere,and ② when the wave frequency exceeds the critical frequency,the rays should be multiple reflections or penetrate through the ionospheric hole and focus afterwards with the focus altitude elevated for higher frequencies.This work may provide the necessary theoretical support for chemical release experiments and the evaluation of radio wave propagation effects. | HU Yaogai ZHAO Zhengyu XIANG Wei | 2011 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2011,16,3: | 3 |

| 6 | Real-Time Automatic Scaling Method of Oblique Ionogram Parameters Based on Morphological Operator and Inversion Technique显示文摘Automatic scaling ionogram can get the parameters of ionogram which are vital to ionosphere detecting. In this paper, a new method is proposed to scale F2 layer trace automatically from oblique ionogram based on morphological operator and inversion technique. This method is verified through the comparison of actual detecting data with statistical analysis. The results show that the proposed automatic scaling method has high acceptable rate and is suitable for scaling oblique ionogram with different high angle wave states. It is fast and precise to fit O-mode echoes in F2 layer without the influence from F1 layer. | 8 | Pre-Earthquake Ionospheric Anomalies of the Wenchuan Earthquake Studied with DEMETER Satellite显示文摘The pre-earthquake ionospheric anomalies in Wenchuan,China(21°-41°N,93°-113°E)are studied and analyzed using the summer nighttime data from 2005 to 2008 measured by DEMETER(Detection of Electro-Magnetic Emission Transmitted from Earthquake Regions)satellite detectors ICE(Internet Communications Engine),IAP(In Application Programming),and ISL(Interior Switching Link).In this paper,we take the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake as an example,use the spatial gridding method to construct the background field over the epicenter,analyze the background characteristics of very low frequency(VLF)electric field components,low-energy particle parameters,and plasma parameters,and define the perturbation intensity index of each parameter before the earthquake to extract each parameter anomaly in both space and time dimensions.The results show that the background values of some ionospheric parameters in the Wenchuan area are related to spatial distribution.Moreover,anomalous enhancement of low-frequency electric field power spectral density,H+concentration,He+concentration and ion concentration with different intensities and anomalous weakening of ion temperature were extracted in the fifteen days before the Wenchuan earthquake.After filtering the data to exclude external interference,such as solar activity,this paper concludes that there is some connection between these anomalies and the Wenchuan earthquake. | LU Jingming HU Yaogai JIANG Chunhua ZHAO Zhengyu ZHANG Yuannong | 2023 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2023,28,5: | 0 |
