| 1 | Human bronchial epithelial cell injuries induced by fine particulate matter from sandstorm and non-sandstorm periods:Association with particle constituents显示文摘Epidemiological studies have demonstrated the exacerbation of respiratory diseases following sandstorm-derived particulate matter(PM) exposure.The presence of anthropogenic and biological agents on the sandstorm PM and the escalation of PM < 2.5 μm(PM2.5)pollution in China have led to serious concerns regarding the health effects of PM2.5during Asian sandstorms.We investigated how changes in PM2.5composition,as the weather transitioned towards a sandstorm,affected human airway epithelial cells.Six PM2.5samples covering two sandstorm events and their respective background and transition periods were collected in Baotou,an industrial city near the Gobi Desert in China.PM samples from all three periods had mild cytotoxicity in human bronchial epithelial cell line BEAS-2B,which was positively correlated with the contents of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and several metals.All PM samples potently increased the release of interleukin-6(IL-6) and interleukin-8(IL-8).Endotoxin in all samples contributed significantly to the IL-6 response,with only a minor effect on IL-8.Cr was positively correlated with both IL-6 and IL-8 release,while Si was only associated with the increase of IL-6.Our study suggests that local agricultural and industrial surroundings in addition to the sandstorm play important roles in the respiratory effects of sandstorm-derived PM. | Bin Wang Ning Li Furong Deng Nicholas Buglak George Park Shu Su Aiguo Ren Guofeng Shen Shu Tao Xinbiao Guo | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,9: | 9 |

| 3 | Diatom distribution and its relationship to sediment property in the Minjiang Estuary, southeast China显示文摘The distribution of diatoms in surface sediments in the Minjiang Estuary, southeast China, was investigated in2009. Total 56 species and other species belonging to 25 genera were identified, among them 11 species were dominant over 5%. Dominant species included Actinocyclus ehrenbergii, Coscinodiscus curvatulus, C. divisus, C.jonesianus, C. radiatus, C. rothii, C. subtilis, Cyclotella stylorum, Epithemia hyndmanii, Hydrosera whampoensis,and Trachyneis aspera. Diatom abundance varied spatially, with the absolute abundance of diatoms ranging from13 valves/g to 11×104 valves/g, and averaging 2.5×104 valves/g. A canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) was used to explain the relationships between diatom distribution and sediment properties in the Minjiang Estuary.CCA revealed that the major elements(Fe_2O_3, Na_2O, CaO, MgO, TiO_2, SiO_2, Al_2O_3, and K_2O) were closely related to diatom abundance. | 16 | Developmental expression of CAPON and Dexras1 in spinal cord of rats显示文摘To study the expression of the carboxy-ter-minal PSD-95/DLG/ZO-1 ligand of nNOS(CAPON)and Dexras1 mRNA during development in the spinal cord of rats,real-time polymerase chain reaction(Real-time PCR),as a quantitative method,was used to study the developmental expression of CAPON and Dexras1 mRNA level in the spinal cord.The spatial expression of CAPON and Dexras1 mRNA was examined by a com-bination of in situ hybridization(ISH)and immunofluor-escence.During the development of the spinal cord,CAPON mRNA was expressed in low levels from embryo day 14 to day 18.At postnatal day 1,it reached the peak and was expressed in the part which will become the dor-sal horn when mature.It then decreased gradually until postnatal week 12,when it presented in the ventral horn.At embryo day 14,Dexras1 mRNA was expressed at low levels,increased during embryo day 16 to day 18 and peaked at postnatal day 1.Spatiotemporal expression of Dexras1 mRNA was similar to CAPON as confirmed by correlation analysis and colocalization.CAPON and neuronal nitric oxide synthase(nNOS)was expressed within the same cells of the dorsal horn at postnatal day 1 but had different subcellular localizations.Co-express-ion of CAPON and Dexras1 mRNA in myeloid tissue during development process of rat indicates that the adaptor protein,CAPON may play a probable role in differentiation of neurons,synaptic plasticity and synap-togenesis by regulating nNOS to activate Dexras1. | Xin LI Chun CHENG Jian ZHAO Mengling CHEN Shuqiong NIU Shangfeng GAO Aiguo SHEN | 2008 | Frontiers of Medicine2008,2,1: | 0 |
| 17 | Simultaneous Fluorescence Detection of Mercury(Ⅱ) and Silver Ions Based on Rhodamine B Isothiocyanate and 5-Carboxyfluorescein-ss DNA Modified Probe显示文摘A new fluorescence sensor is developed for simultaneous detection of Hg^(2+) and Ag^+. During the detection process,Hg^(2+) forms complexes with the fluorescent dye rhodamine B isothiocyanate(RBITC) modified onto the surface of gold nanoparticles(Au NPs),resulting in RBITC's displacement from the surface of Au NPs and the recovery of fluorescence. Meanwhile,Ag^+ forms 'C-Ag^+-C' complex with C-rich 5-carboxyfluorescein(FAM)-ss DNA modified onto the surface of Au NPs,which keeps the fluorescent dye FAM close to the Au NPs and results in quench of fluorescence. The experimental results show a wide linear range and a good sensitivity. The limit of detection is 1.06 nmol/L for Ag^+ and 0.48 nmol/L for Hg^(2+).
