| 2 | Genetic analysis of yield and fiber quality traits in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivated in different ecological regions of China显示文摘Background:Cotton is an important fiber crop worldwide.The yield potential of current genotypes of cotton can be exploited through hybridization.However,to develop superior hybrids with high yield and fiber quality traits,information of genetic control of traits is prerequisite.Therefore,genetic analysis plays pivotal role in plant breeding.Results:In present study,North Carolina II mating design was used to cross 5 female parents with 6 male parents to produce 30 intraspecific F1cotton hybrids.All plant materials were tested in three different ecological regions of China during the year of 2016-2017.Additive-dominance-environment(ADE)genetic model was used to estimate the genetic effects and genotypic and phenotypic correlation of yield and fiber quality traits.Results showed that yield traits except lint percentage were mainly controlled by genetic and environment interaction effects,whereas lint percentage and fiber quality traits were determined by main genetic effects.Moreover,dominant and additiveen vironine nt in teraction effects had more influence on yield traits,whereas additive and domi nance-e nviron ment interaction effects were found to be predominant for fiber traits.Broad-sense and its interaction heritability were significant for all yield and most of fiber quality traits.Narrow-sense and its interaction heritability were non-significant for boll number and seed cotton yield.Correlation analysis indicated that seed cotton yield had significant positive correlation with other yield attributes and non-significant with fiber quality traits.All fiber quality traits had signiflcant positive correlation with each other except micronaire.Conclusions:Results of current study provide important information about genetic control of yield and fiber quality traits.Further,this study identified that parental lines,e.g.,SJ48-1,ZB-1,851-2,and DT-8 can be utilized to improve yield and fiber quality traits in cotton. | SHAHZAD Kashif LI Xue QI Tingxiang GUO Liping TANG Huini ZHANG Xuexian WANG Hailin ZHANG Meng ZHANG Bingbing QIAO Xiuqin XING Chaozhu WU Jianyong | 2019 | Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,2: | 5 |
| 3 | Genome-wide analysis of Rf-PPR-like(RFL)genes and a new InDel marker development for Rf1 gene in cytoplasmic male sterile CMS-D2 Upland cotton显示文摘Background: Cytoplasmic male sterility in flowering plants is a convenient way to use heterosis via hybrid breeding and may be restored by nuclear restorer-of-fertility(Rf) genes. In most cases, Rf genes encoded pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR) proteins and several Rf genes are present in clusters of similar Rf-PPR-like(RFL) genes. However, the Rf genes in cotton were not fully characterized until now.Results: In total, 35 RFL genes were identified in G. hirsutum, 16 in G. arboreum, and 24 in G. raimondii. Additionally,four RFL-rich regions were identified; the RFL-rich region in Gh_D05 is the probable location of Rf-PPR genes in cotton and will be studied further in the future. Furthermore, an insertion sequence was identified in the promoter sequence of Gh_D05 G3392 gene in the restorer line, as compared with the CMS-D2 line and maintainer lines. An InDel-R marker was then developed and could be used to distinguish the restorer line carrying Rfl from other genotypes without the Rf1 allele.Conclusion: In this study, genome-wide identification and analysis of RFL genes have identified the candidate Rf-PPR genes for CMS in Gossypium. | 4 | Comparative performance of hybrid generations reveals the potential application of F_(2)hybrids in upland cotton显示文摘Background:The utilization of heterosis has greatly improved the productivity of cotton worldwide.However,a major constraint for the large-scale promotion of F_(1) hybrid cotton is artificial emasculation and pollination.This study proposed the potential utilization of F_(2) hybrids to improve upland cotton production through a comparative evaluation of hybrid generations.Results:Eight upland cotton varieties were analyzed and crosses were made according to NCII incomplete diallel cross-breeding design in two cotton belts of China.Variance analysis revealed significant differences in agronomic,yield,and fiber quality in both generations and environments.The broad-sense heritability of agronomic and yield traits was relatively higher than quality traits.Furthermore,the narrow-sense heritability of some traits was higher in F_(2) than in the F_(1) generation in both cotton belts.Overall,parental lines Zhong901,ZB,L28,and Z98 were observed with maximum combining ability while combinations with strong special combining ability were ZB×DT,L28×Z98,and ZB×851.The yield traits heterosis was predominant in both generations.However,the level of heterosis was altered with trait,hybrid combination,generation,and environment.Interestingly,L28×Z98 performed outstandingly in Anyang.Its lint yield(LY)was 24.2%higher in F_(1) and 11.6%in F_(2) than that of the control Ruiza 816.The performance of SJ48×Z98 was excellent in Aral which showed 36.5%higher LY in F_(2)and 10.9%in F_(2)than control CCRI 49.Further results revealed most hybrid combinations had shown a low level of heterosis for agronomic and fiber quality traits in both generations.Comparatively,ZB×DT and L28×Z98 showed hybrid vigor for multiple traits in both generations and cotton belts.It is feasible to screen strong heterosis hybrid combinations with fine fiber in early generations.In the two environments,the correlation of some traits showed the same trend,and the correlation degree of Anyang site was higher than that of Aral site,and the correlation of some traits showed the opposite trend.According to the performance of strong heterosis hybrid combinations in different environments,the plant type,yield and fiber traits associated with them can be improved according to the correlation.Conclusions:Through comparative analysis of variance,combining ability,and heterosis in F_(2)and F_(2)hybrids in different cotton belts,this study proposed the potential utilization of F_(2)hybrids to improve upland cotton productivity in China. | CHEN Liangliang TANG Huini ZHANG Xuexian QI Tingxiang GUO Liping SHAHZAD Kashif WANG Hailin QIAO Xiuqin ZANG Rong ZHANG Meng WU Jianyong XING Chaozhu | 2022 | Journal of Cotton Research2022,5,2: | 2 |

| 7 | Is surgical axillary staging necessary in women with T1 breast cancer who are treated with breast-conserving therapy?显示文摘Background:In the post-Z0011 trial era,the need to perform surgical axillary staging for early-stage breast cancer patients,who are treated with breast-conserving therapy(BCT),is being questioned.We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database to evaluate the safety of waiving surgical axillary staging in patients with T1 breast cancer treated with BCT.Methods:A total of 166,615 eligible patients diagnosed between 2000 and 2012 were divided into staging(sentinel lymph node biopsy or axillary lymph node dissection)and non-staging(no lymph node examined or only needle aspiration biopsy of lymph nodes)groups.Propensity score matching(PSM)was performed to balance disparities between the two groups.Multivariate analysis with the Cox proportional hazards model was used to assess factors related to breast cancer-specific survival(BCSS).Results:Although the tumor size at time of presentation was decreasing over years,the rate of surgical axillary stag-ing increased from 93.3%to 96.9%.The 5-year BCSS rates of the whole cohort(before PSM)and matched cohort(after PSM)were 98.0%and 97.5%.Within the matched cohort,the BCSS was significantly longer in the staging group than in the non-staging group(P<0.001).However,surgical axillary staging did not benefit patients who were 50-79 years old,had tumor size<1 cm,histological grade I disease,or favorable histological types(tubular/mucinous/papillary)in stratified analyses(P>0.05).Race,marital status,hormone receptors,and chemotherapy were not associated with the favorable impact of surgical axillary staging on BCSS(P>0.05).Conclusion:Although surgical axillary staging remains important for T1 breast cancer patients treated with BCT,it might be unnecessary for patients with old age,small tumor,grade I disease,or favorable histological types. | Jin Wang Hailin Tang Xing Li Cailu Song Zhenchong Xiong Xi Wang Xiaoming Xie Jun Tang | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 1 |

To improve the computation efficiency, the best uniform approximation method is utilized. The AIM can reduce memory requirements and accelerate the matrixvector multiplications in iterative process. Some numerical examples are shown to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method. | 10 | Resetting amino acid metabolism of cancer cells by ATB^(0,+)-targeted nanoparticles for enhanced anticancer therapy显示文摘Reprogramed cellular metabolism is one of the most significant hallmarks of cancer.All cancer cells exhibit increased demand for specific amino acids,and become dependent on either an exogenous supply or upregulated de novo synthesis.The resultant enhanced availability of amino acids supports the reprogramed metabolic pathways and fuels the malignant growth and metastasis of cancers by providing energy and critical metabolic intermediates,facilitating anabolism,and activating signaling networks related to cell proliferation and growth.Therefore,pharmacologic blockade of amino acid entry into cancer cells is likely to have a detrimental effect on cancer cell growth.Here we developed a nanoplatform(LJ@Trp-NPs)to therapeutically target two transporters,SLC6A14(ATB^(0,+))and SLC7A5(LAT1),that are known to be essential for the sustenance of amino acid metabolism in most cancers.The LJ@Trp-NPs uses tryptophan to guide SLC6A14-targeted delivery of JPH203,a high-affinity inhibitor of SLC7A5.In the process,SLC6A14 is also down-regulated.We tested the ability of this strategy to synergize with the anticancer efficacy of lapatinib,an inhibitor of EGFR/HER1/HER2-assocated kinase.These studies show that blockade of amino acid entry amplifies the anticancer effect of lapatinib via interference with mTOR signaling,promotion of apoptosis,and suppression of cell proliferation and metastasis.This represents the first study to evaluate the impact of amino acid starvation on the anticancer efficacy of widely used kinase inhibitor. | Longfa Kou Xinyu Jiang Yingying Tang Xing Xia Yingtao Li Aimin Cai Hailun Zheng Hailin Zhang Vadivel Ganapathy Qing Yao Ruijie Chen | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,3: | 0 |
| 11 | The cotton mitochondrial chimeric gene orf610a causes male sterility by disturbing the dynamic balance of ATP synthesis and ROS burst显示文摘Plant cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS)is maternally inherited and often manifested as aborted pollen development,but the molecular basis of abortion remains to be identified.To facilitate an investigation of CMS in cotton,the complete sequence of cotton mitochondrial(mt)genome for CMS-D2 line ZBA was determined.The mt genome was assembled as a single circular molecule with 634,036 bp in length.A total of 194 ORFs,36 protein-coding genes,six r RNAs,and 24 t RNAs were identified.Several chimeric genes encoding hypothetical proteins with transmembrane domains were identified.Among them,a previously unknown chimeric gene,orf610a,which is composed of atp1 and a 485-bp downstream sequence of unknown nature,was identified.RT-PCR and q RT-PCR validation indicated that orf610a was expressed specifically in a sterile line.Ectopic expression of orf610a in yeast resulted in excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species and reduction in ATP content,in addition to inhibition of cellular growth.Transgenic A.thaliana overexpressing orf610a fused with a mitochondrial targeting peptide displayed partial male sterility.Interaction between ORF610a and the nuclear-encoded protein RD22 indicated an association between ORF610a and pollen abortion.Positive feedback during transcriptional regulation between nuclear regulatory factors and the mt CMS gene may account for the male sterility of ZBA. | Yongjie Zhang Yang Han Meng Zhang Xuexian Zhang Liping Guo Tingxiang Qi Yongqi Li Juanjuan Feng Hailin Wang Huini Tang Xiuqin Qiao Liangliang Chen Xiatong Song Chaozhu Xing Jianyong Wu | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,6: | 0 |

Over the broad frequency band, the Chebyshev nodes are chosen. At these frequency sample points, the corresponding VIEs are built and the Mo M is applied to solve the VIEs by using the SWG basis function. The Chebyshev polynomial expansion is employed to approximate the volume currents in the desired frequency band. | 13 | Diagnosis and treatment for advanced hilar cholangiocarcinoma:experience of 24 cases显示文摘The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effi-cacy of the surgical treatment for advanced hilar cholan-giocarcinoma(CCA)in order to improve the resection rate and curative effect.A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of 24 patients who had under-gone surgical treatment for advanced hilar CCA.According to the Bismuth classification,there were four cases of type IIIa,six cases of type IIIb,and 14 cases of type IV.Based on the treatment approaches,these patients were divided into three groups:①Radical resection group:There were five cases(one type IIIa,three type IIIb,and one type IV).The tumor visible to the naked eyes was resected thoroughly and the cut mar-gin was free of tumor by microscopic examination.Then,Roux-en-Y hepatico-jejunal anastomosis was per-formed to restore the bile flow.②Palliative resection group:There were 11 cases.The bile flow was restored by Roux-en-Y hepatico-jejunal anastomosis directly in five cases(two type IIIa,three type IIIb)and by internal drainage through a hepatico-jejunal bridge in the other six cases(one type IIIa,five type IV).③Simple internal biliary drainage group:There were eight cases of type IV,including three cases with the internal drainage through hepatico-jejunal bridge by laparotomy,three cases with endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage(ERBD),two cases with percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage(PTBD).The rate of radical resection was 20.8%and the overall resection rate was 66.7%.All of the 24 patients were fol-lowed-up.The cumulative surviving rates were significantly different among these three groups(Log-rank x2=17.56,P=0.0002).For advanced hilar CCA,the best choice of treatment is radical resection.If radical resection is impractical,palliative resection combined with partial hepatectomy can significantly prolong the survival time.Internal drainage through a hepatico-jejunal bridge can enhance the surgical resection rate and decrease the occur-rence rate of postoperative biliary leakage. | Zongming ZHANG Hailin XING Haiming YUAN Kai LIU Jianping ZHU Yanming SU Jinxing GUO Nan JIANG Zichao ZHANG | 2008 | Frontiers of Medicine2008,2,2: | 0 |
