1Effects of Ti additive on HPHT diamond synthesis in Fe-Ni-C system显示文摘Diamond crystals with low nitrogen concentration were synthesized from the Fe-Ni-C system with Ti additive at high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) in a china-type cubic high pressure apparatus (CHPA). The synthesis pressure range was 4.8-5.2 GPa, and the temperature range was 1420-1600 K. The lowest synthesis pressure for diamond fell first and then rose with the increase of Ti additive. The color, shape, surface morphology and nitrogen impurity concentration of the synthesized diamond crystals were characterized using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and micro Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry. The results show that the Ti additive has significant effects on color, growth rate, crystal shape, surface morphology and nitrogen impurity con- centration of the synthesized diamond crystals. The color of diamond crystals synthesized without Ti additive is yellow, while that with Ti additive becomes light and nearly colorless. The growth rate without Ti additive is higher than that with Ti additive. The crystal shapes of as-grown diamond crystals vary with the increase of Ti additive. The {111} crystal faces become dominant and some {311} crystal faces appear with the increase of Ti additive. 2Effects of Long-term Fertilization on Soil M icrobial Com m unity Structure,Labile Organic Carbon and Nitrogen and Enzym e Activity in Paddy Field and Upland显示文摘To investigate the effects of long-term fertilization systems on soil microbial community structure,labile organic carbon and nitrogen and enzyme activity in yellow sand paddy field and upland,a field experiment was conducted at the experimental station of Dongyang Institute of Maize Research in Zhejiang Province,China in 2009.The experiment consisted of six treatments with three replicates,and they were arranged in a completely randomized design,including no fertilization in paddy field (PCK),conventional fertilization in paddy field (PCF),formulated fertilization by soil testing in paddy field (PSTF),formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure in paddy field (PSTF+OF),conventional fertilization on upland (DCF),and formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure on upland (DSTF+OF).Soil nutrients,enzyme activity,microbial biomass and community structure were determined in 2015.The results showed that compared with no fertilization in paddy field (PCK),fertilization increased soil phosphorus and potassium content,and decreased pH value.No fertilization in paddy field (PCK) had no significant effect on soil culturable microorganisms in paddy field and upland,but formulated fertilization by soil testing with organic manure on upland (DSTF+OF) significantly increased the number of fungi.Formula fertilization by soil testing with organic manure (PSTF+OF) also significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen in paddy field and upland.Moreover,fertilization had no significant effect on soil cellulase activity,but formula fertilization by soil testing with organic manure (PSTF+OF) significantly increased soil dehydrogenase and catalase activity.Therefore,long-term application of chemical fertilizer with organic fertilizer can effectively improve soil fertility.Wang Guiyue Su Ting Han Hailiang Tan Heping Bao Fei Zhao Fucheng 2019Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,5:4

6VprBP mitigates TGF-β and Activin signaling by promoting Smurf1-mediated type Ⅰ receptor degradation显示文摘The transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)family controls embryogenesis,stem cell differentiation,and tissue homeostasis.However,how post-translation modifications contribute to fine-tuning of TGF-βfamily signaling responses is not well understood.Inhibitory(I)-Smads can antagonize TGF-β/Smad signaling by recruiting Smurf E3 ubiquitin ligases to target the active TGF-βreceptor for proteasomal degradation.A proteomic interaction screen identified Vpr binding protein(VprBP)as novel binding partner of Smad7.Mis-expression studies revealed that VprBP negatively controls Smad2 phosphorylation,Smad2–Smad4 interaction,as well as TGF-βtarget gene expression.VprBP was found to promote Smad7–Smurf1–TβRI complex formation and induce proteasomal degradation of TGF-βtype I receptor(TβRI).Moreover,VprBP appears to stabilize Smurf1 by suppressing Smurf1 poly-ubiquitination.In multiple adult and mouse embryonic stem cells,depletion of VprBP promotes TGF-βor Activin-induced responses.In the mouse embryo VprBP expression negatively correlates with mesoderm marker expression,and VprBP attenuated mesoderm induction during zebrafish embryogenesis.Our findings thereby uncover a novel regulatory mechanism by which Smurf1 controls the TGF-βand Activin cascade and identify VprBP as a critical determinant of embryonic mesoderm induction.Yihao Li Chao Cui Feng Xie Szymon Kietbasa Hailiang Mei Maarten van Dinther Hans van Dam Andreas Bauer Long Zhang Peterten Dijke 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,2:1

11Hysteresis in the ultrasonic parameters of saturated sandstone during freezing and thawing and correlations with unfrozen water content显示文摘Determining the mechanical properties of frozen rock is highly important in cold-area engineering.These properties are essentially correlated with the content of liquid water remaining in frozen rock.Therefore,accurate determination of unfrozen water content could allow rapid evaluation of mechanical properties of frozen rock.This paper investigates the hysteresis characteristics of ultrasonic waves applied to sandstone(in terms of the parameters of P-wave velocity,amplitude,dominant frequency and quality factor Q)and their relationships with unfrozen water content during the freeze-thaw process.Their correlations are analysed in terms of their potential for use as indicators of freezing state and unfrozen water content.The results show that:(1)During a freeze-thaw cycle,the ultrasonic parameters and unfrozen water content of sandstone have significant hysteresis with changes in temperature.(2)There are three clear stages of change during freezing:supercooled stage(0℃to-2℃),rapid freezing stage(-2℃to-3℃),and stable freezing stage(-3℃to-20℃).The changes in unfrozen water content and ultrasonic parameters with freezing temperature are inverse.(3)During a single freeze-thaw cycle,the ultrasonic parameters of sandstone are significantly correlated with its unfrozen water content,and this correlation is affected by the pore structure.For sandstones with mesopores greater than 50%,there are inflection points in the curves of ultrasonic parameters vs.unfrozen water content at-3℃during freezing and at-1℃during thawing.It was found that thermal deformation of the mineral-grain skeleton and variations in the phase composition of pore water change the propagation path of ultrasonic waves.The inflection point in the curve of dominant frequency vs.temperature clearly marks the end of the rapid freezing stage of pore water,in which more than 70%of the pore water freezes.Consequently,the dominant frequency can be used as an index to conveniently estimate the unfrozen water content of frozen rock and,hence,its mechanical properties.Liu Yang Hailiang Jia Li Han Huimei Zhang Liyun Tang 2021Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,5:0
12A lncRNA from an inflammatory bowel disease risk locus maintains intestinal host-commensal homeostasis显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)are known to have complex,genetically influenced etiologies,involving dysfunctional interactions between the intestinal immune system and the microbiome.Here,we characterized how the RNA transcript from an IBD-associated long non-coding RNA locus(“CARINH-Colitis Associated IRF1 antisense Regulator of Intestinal Homeostasis”)protects against IBD.We show that CARINH and its neighboring gene coding for the transcription factor IRF1 together form a feedforward loop in host myeloid cells.The loop activation is sustained by microbial factors,and functions to maintain the intestinal host-commensal homeostasis via the induction of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-18BP and anti-microbial factors called guanylate-binding proteins(GBPs).Extending these mechanistic insights back to humans,we demonstrate that the function of the CARINH/IRF1 loop is conserved between mice and humans.Genetically,the T allele of rs2188962,the most probable causal variant of IBD within the CARINH locus from the human genetics study,impairs the inducible expression of the CARINH/IRF1 loop and thus increases genetic predisposition to IBD.Our study thus illustrates how an IBD-associated lncRNA maintains intestinal homeostasis and protects the host against colitis.Hongdi Ma Taidou Hu Wanyin Tao Jiyu Tong Zili Han Dietmar Herndler-Brandstetter Zheng Wei Ruize Liu Tingyue Zhou Qiuyuan Liu Xuemei Xu Kaiguang Zhang Rongbin Zhou Judy H.Cho Hua-Bing Li Hailiang Huang Richard A.Flavell Shu Zhu 2023Cell Research2023,33,5:0
13Au nanoparticles based ultra-fast “Turn-On” fluorescent sensor for detection of biothiols and its application in living cell imaging显示文摘Au or other metal nanostructures have the ability to strongly quench the fluorescence of fluorophores.This feature has made AuNP-conjugates attractive for the construction of platforms for various bioanalytes to overcome the limitations of small molecule fluorophores(poor solubility,long reaction time).In this paper,an ultrafast'Turn-On'fluo rescent sensor for biothiols was constructed.The sensor is based on the fluorescent resonance energy transfer(FRET)effect between the fluorophore(PN)and AuNPs,which effectively quenches the fluorescence of the fluorophore.In the presence of thiols,PN is displaced and released from AuNP surfaces,and thus,the fluorescence is rapidly restored.The sensor features appreciable water solubility and ultrafast response time(a few seconds for Cys).In addition,it exhibits high selectivity and a detection limit as low as 12 nmol/L for Hcy.Moreover,the sensor presents good biocompatibility and has been successfully applied for imaging biothiols in living cells.Hailiang Zhang Pengfei Xu Xintong Zhang Xiaozheng Cao Wenxiu Han Meihui Liu Xiaohui Liu Wenbin Zeng 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,5:0
14Photometric analysis of a blue straggler eclipsing binary in the old open cluster NGC 2141显示文摘To understand the formation mechanism of blue stragglers in open clusters, we conducted a photometric analysis for a blue straggler eclipsing binary in the old open cluster NGC 2141. By using the least square fitting of times of minima, we derived the ephemeris and redetermined the orbital period of this system to be 0.6227 d. We have also done a photometric analysis for light curve with the Wilson-Devinney Code (2003). The photometric solutions reveal a semi-detached binary with the secondary component filling its Roche lobe. The photometric mass ratio M2/M1 (secondary/primary) was determined to be 0.190±0.002 and the ratio of V-band luminosity L2/L1(V) is about 0.033±0.001, which indicates the secondary component is overluminous. 15Bioinspired Multifunctional Self-Sensing Actuated Gradient Hydrogel for Soft-Hard Robot Remote Interaction显示文摘The development of bioinspired gradient hydrogels with self-sensing actuated capabilities for remote interaction with soft-hard robots remains a challenging endeavor. Here, we propose a novel multifunctional self-sensing actuated gradient hydrogel that combines ultrafast actuation and high sensitivity for remote interaction with robotic hand. The gradient network structure, achieved through a wettability difference method involving the rapid precipitation of MoO_(2) nanosheets, introduces hydrophilic disparities between two sides within hydrogel. This distinctive approach bestows the hydrogel with ultrafast thermo-responsive actuation(21° s^(-1)) and enhanced photothermal efficiency(increase by 3.7 ℃ s^(-1) under 808 nm near-infrared). Moreover, the local cross-linking of sodium alginate with Ca^(2+) endows the hydrogel with programmable deformability and information display capabilities. Additionally, the hydrogel exhibits high sensitivity(gauge factor 3.94 within a wide strain range of 600%), fast response times(140 ms) and good cycling stability. Leveraging these exceptional properties, we incorporate the hydrogel into various soft actuators, including soft gripper, artificial iris, and bioinspired jellyfish, as well as wearable electronics capable of precise human motion and physiological signal detection. Furthermore, through the synergistic combination of remarkable actuation and sensitivity, we realize a self-sensing touch bioinspired tongue. Notably, by employing quantitative analysis of actuation-sensing, we realize remote interaction between soft-hard robot via the Internet of Things.
