Tectonic dynamics and correlation of major earthquake sequences of the Xiaojiang and Qujiang-Shiping fault systems, Yunnan, China显示文摘The N-S trending Xiaojiang fault zone and the NW-SE trending Qujiang-Shiping fault zone are adjacent active fault systems and seismogenic zones associated with strong and major earthquakes in Yunnan, China. To understand the interaction of the two fault systems, and its probable influence on earthquake occurrences, this paper conducts a synthetic study based on data of active tectonics, historical earthquakes, relocated small earthquakes, GPS station velocities and focal mechanism resolutions. The study makes several conclusions. (1) The active southward motion of the western side of the Xiaojiang fault zone (i.e. the side of the Sichuan-Yunnan block) has a persistent and intensive effect on the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone. The later fault zone has absorbed and transformed the southward motion of the western side of the former fault zone through dextral strike-slip/shearing as well as transverse shortening/thrusting. (2) Along the Xiaojiang fault zone, the present sinistral strike-slip/shearing rate decreases from 10 and 8 mm/a on the northern, central and central-southern segments to 4 mm/a on the southern segment. The decreased rate has been adjusted in the area along and surrounding the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone through reverse-dextral faulting and distributed shearing and shortening. (3) The tectonic-dynamic relation between the Xiaojiang fault zone and the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone is also manifested by a close correlation of earthquake occurrences on the two fault zones. From 1500 to 1850 a sequence of strong and major earthquakes occurred along the Xiaojiang fault zone and its northern neighbor, the Zemuhe fault zone, which was characterized by gradually accelerating strain release, gradually shortening intervals between M≥7 events, and major releases occurring in the mid to later stages of the sequence. As a response to this sequence, after an 88-year delay, another sequence of 383 years (from 1588 to 1970) of strong and major earthquakes occurred on the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone, and had the same features in accelerating strain release and its temporal course. (4) Since there has been no M≥7 event for 177 years on the Xiaojiang fault zone, the potential risk of a strong or major earthquake occurring on this fault zone in the future should be noticed and studied further. | WEN XueZe DU Fang LONG Feng FAN Jun ZHU Hang | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,10: | 22
Myocardial infarction secondary prevention study (MISPS)显示文摘Background Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), especially herbal medicine, has been widely used in China and now is also being increasingly used in other countries for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Although many studies have demonstrated that certain Chinese herbal products are effective and safe for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, most of these lack sufficient quality. Therefore, large randomized clinical trials and further scientific research to determine its safety, effectiveness are necessary.QiShen YiQi Dripping Pills (QSYQDP) is a herbal preparation clinically used in the treatment and prevention of coronary artery disease. Preliminary observations have shown its safety and effectiveness. Methods/Design This randomized, controlled trial will recruit 3600 patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Patients will be randomized into two groups by a Centr-Randomized System. One group receives QSYQDP, the other group receive aspirin. This trial protocol will describe eligibility criteria, detailed information on the treatment definition, blinding, endpoints, statistical methods, sample size determination, data management, legal aspects, and the current status of the trial. Discussion This trial is one of the first randomized, controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease. The results of this study should help to define the role of TCM in modern medical care, as well as to provide the management strategy for CAD patients in China and other countries. | Hongcai SHANG Guohua DAI Junhua HANG Yaozu XIANG Yang WANG Junping ZHANG Wuxun DU Jingyuan MAO Chen YAO Weiliang WENG Tiancai WEN Boli ZHANG | 2006 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2006,3,2: | 14
Aloe-emodin exerts cholesterol-lowering effects by inhibiting proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 in hyperlipidemic rats显示文摘Hyperlipidemia(HPL)characterized by metabolic disorder of lipids and cholesterol is one of the important risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.Proprotein convertase subtilsin/kexin type 9(PCSK9)is a potent circulating regulator of LDL through its ability to induce degradation of the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol receptor(LDLR)in the lysosome of hepatocytes.Aloe-emodin(AE)is one of potentially bioactive components of Chinese traditionalmedicine Daming capsule. In this study we evaluated the HPL-lowering efficacy of AE in both in vivo and in vitro HPL models.High-fat diet-induced rats were treated with AE(100 mg/kg per day,ig)for 6 weeks. We found that AE administration significantly decreased the levels of total cholesterol(TC)and LDL in the serum and liver tissues. Moreover,AE administration ameliorated HPL-induced hepaticlipid aggregation. But AE administration did not significantly inhibit HMG-CoA reductase activity in the liver of HPL rats.A cellular model of HPL was established in human hepatoma(HepG2)cells treated with cholesterol(20 μg/mL)and 25-hydroxycholesterol(2 μg/mL),which exhibited markedly elevated cholesterol levels. The increased cholesterol levels could be reversed by subsequent treatment with AE(30 μM).In both the in vivo and in vitro HPL models,we revealed that AE selectively suppressed the stero-regulatory element-binding protein-2(SREBP-2)and hepatocyte nuclear factor(HNF)1α-mediated PCSK9 signaling, which in turn upregulated LDL receptor(LDLR)and promoted LDL uptake. This study demonstrates that AE reduces cholesterol content in HPL rats by inhibiting the hepatic PCSK9/LDLR pathway. | Zhen-li Su Peng-zhou Hang Juan Hu Yu-yang Zheng Han-qi Sun Jing Guo Ke-yu Liu Zhi-min Du | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,8: | 14

A novel anticancer property of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide in triggering ferroptosis of breast cancer cells显示文摘Breast cancer is one of the most malignant tumors and is associated with high mortality rates among women.Lycium barbarum polysaccharide(LBP)is an extract from the fruits of the traditional Chinese herb,L.barbarum.LBP is a promising anticancer drug, due to its high activity and low toxicity.Although it has anticancer properties, its mechanisms of action have not been fully established.Ferroptosis, which is a novel anticancer strategy,is a cell death mechanism that relies on iron-dependent lipid reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation. In this study, human breast cancer cells(Michigan Cancer Foundation-7(MCF-7)and MD Anderson-Metastatic Breast-231(MDA-MB-231))were treated with LBP.LBP inhibited their viability and proliferation in association with high levels of ferroptosis. Therefore,we aimed to ascertain whether LBP reduced cell viability through ferroptosis. We found that the structure and function of mitochondria, lipid peroxidation, and expression of solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7 A11,also known as x CT,the light-chain subunit of cystine/glutamate antiporter system X_(c)^(-))and glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)were altered by LBP.Moreover, the ferroptosis inhibitor,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),rescued LBP-induced ferroptosis-associated events including reduced cell viability and glutathione(GSH)production, accumulation of intracellular free divalent iron ions and malondialdehyde(MDA),and down-regulation of the expression of x CT and GPX4.Erastin(x CT inhibitor)and RSL3(GPX4 inhibitor)inhibited the expression of x CT and GPX4,respectively,which was lower after the co-treatment of LBP with Erastin and RSL3.These results suggest that LBP effectively prevents breast cancer cell proliferation and promotes ferroptosis via the x CT/GPX4 pathway. Therefore,LBP exhibits novel anticancer properties by triggering ferroptosis, and may be a potential therapeutic option for breast cancer. | Xing DU Jingjing ZHANG Ling LIU Bo XU Hang HAN Wenjie DAI Xiuying PEI Xufeng FU Shaozhang HOU | 2022 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,4: | 10
Numerical and experimental research on different inlet configurations of high speed centrifugal compressor显示文摘Three different inlet configurations, including a original straight pipe and two bend pipes with different axial length, for a high speed low mass flow centrifugal compressor were modeled with whole blade passages and simulated unsteadily by 3D viscous Navier-Stokes equations. The performance disparities of compressor stage were tested and verified by experiments in which dynamic pressure data acquisition of internal flow field was performed. As the result shows, the choke point decreases to lower mass flow rate due to the distortion caused by bend-pipe inlet and is aggravated as the rotation speed increases. The distortion effect spreads circumferentially in impeller and makes the flow structure varied. The longer axial distance bent inlet leads to larger radial distortion and heavy blockage at mid-span under large mass flow mainly causes compressor choke margin nar-rowed.Bend pipe distortion brings an impact up to diffuser on unsteady pressure pulsation caused by blades sweep and the impact appears more powerful when it is closer to volute tongue. | LI Du YANG Ce ZHOU Mi ZHU ZhiFu WANG Hang | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1: | 9

De novo assembly and comparative analysis of root transcriptomes from different varieties of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer grown in different environments显示文摘Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer is an important traditional herb in eastern Asia. It contains ginsenosides, which are primary bioactive compounds with medicinal properties. Although ginseng has been cultivated since at least the Ming dynasty to increase production, cultivated ginseng has lower quantities of ginsenosides and lower disease resistance than ginseng grown under natural conditions. We extracted root RNA from six varieties of fifth-year P. ginseng cultivars representing four different growth conditions, and performed Illumina paired-end sequencing. In total, 163,165,706 raw reads were obtained and used to generate a de novo transcriptome that consisted of 151,763 contigs(76,336 unigenes), of which 100,648 contigs(66.3%) were successfully annotated. Differential expression analysis revealed that most differentially expressed genes(DEGs) were upregulated(246 out of 258, 95.3%) in ginseng grown under natural conditions compared with that grown under artificial conditions. These DEGs were enriched in gene ontology(GO) terms including response to stimuli and localization. In particular, some key ginsenoside biosynthesis-related genes, including HMG-Co A synthase(HMGS), mevalonate kinase(MVK), and squalene epoxidase(SE), were upregulated in wild-grown ginseng. Moreover, a high proportion of disease resistance-related genes were upregulated in wild-grown ginseng. This study is the first transcriptome analysis to compare wild-grown and cultivated ginseng, and identifies genes that may produce higher ginsenoside content and better disease resistance in the wild; these genes may have the potential to improve cultivated ginseng grown in artificial environments. | ZHEN Gang ZHANG Lei DU YaNan YU RenBo LIU XinMin CAO FangRui CHANG Qi DENG Xing Wang XIA Mian HE Hang | 2015 | Science China(Life Sciences)2015,58,11: | 6
Pathogen development and host responses to Plasmopara viticola in resistant and susceptible grapevines:an ultrastructural study显示文摘The downy mildew disease in grapevines is caused by Plasmopara viticola. This disease poses a serious threat wherever viticulture is practiced.Wild Vitis species showing resistance to P.viticola offer a promising pathway to develop new grapevine cultivars resistant to P.viticola which will allow reduced use of environmentally unfriendly fungicides. Here, transmission and scanning microscopy was used to compare the resistance responses to downy mildew of three resistant genotypes of V.davidii var.cyanocarpa,V.piasesezkii and V.pseudoreticulata and the suceptible V.vinifera cultivar‘Pinot Noir’.Following inoculation with sporangia of P.viticola isolate‘YL’on V.vinifera cv.‘Pinot Noir’,the infection was characterized by a rapid spread of intercellular hyphae,a high frequency of haustorium formation within the host’s mesophyll cells, the production of sporangia and by the absence of host-cell necrosis. In contrast zoospores were collapsed in the resistant V.pseudoreticulata‘Baihe-35-1’,or secretions appeared arround stomata at the beginning of the infection period in V.davidii var.cyanocarpa‘Langao-5’and V.piasezkii‘Liuba-8’.The main characteristics of the resistance responses were the rapid depositions of callose and the appearance of empty hyphae and the plasmolysis of penetrated tissue. Moreover, collapsed haustoria were observed in V.davidii var.cyanocarpa‘Langao-5’at 5 days post inoculation(dpi)and in V.piasezkii‘Liuba-8’at 7 dpi.Lastly, necrosis extended beyond the zone of restricted colonization in all three resistant genotypes.Sporangia were absent in V.piasezkii‘Liuba-8’and greatly decreased in V.davidii var.cyanocarpa‘Langao-5’and in V.pseudoreticulata‘Baihe-35-1’compared with in V.vinifera cv.‘Pinot Noir’.Overall, these results provide insights into the cellular biological basis of the incompatible interactions between the pathogen and the host. They indicate a number of several resistant Chinese wild species that could be used in developing new cultivars having good levels of downy mildew resistance. | Xiao Yin Rui-Qi Liu Hang Su Li Su Yu-Rui Guo Zi-Jia Wang Wei Du Mei-Jie Li Xi Zhang Yue-Jin Wang Guo-Tian Liu Yan Xu | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017,4,1: | 5

Optimized coagulation pretreatment alleviates ultrafiltration membrane fouling: The role of floc properties and slow-mixing speed on mechanisms of chitosan-assisted coagulation显示文摘To alleviate ultrafiltration(UF) membrane fouling, the pre-coagulation of poly-aluminum chloride(PACl) with the aid of chitosan(CTS) was conducted for synthetic humic acid–kaolin water treatment. Pre-coagulation of three molecular weights(MW) CTSs(50–190 kDa(CTSL), 190–310 kDa(CTSM) and 310–375 kDa(CTSH)) was optimized with slow-mixing speeds of 30, 60 and 90 r/min, respectively. The removal efficiency and floc properties as well as membrane fouling were analyzed, and were compared to results obtained by conventional coagulation with PACl. Results showed that variations in floc properties could be ascribed to the coagulation mechanisms of CTS_L/CTS_M/CTS_H at different slow-mixing speeds, resulting in reduced UF membrane fouling. Specifically, at the low speed of 30 r/min, all three CTS types produced flocs with similar properties, while CTSLresulted in the lowest removal efficiency and aggravated irreversible fouling. At the appropriate speed of 60 r/min, CTSMgenerated the most compact flocs with the combined effects of bridging and path mechanisms. The compact cake layer formed could alleviate irreversible fouling, which was beneficial for prolonging the operation of the UF membrane. At the high speed of90 r/min, CTSHformed fragile flocs and aggravated irreversible membrane fouling. We considered membrane fouling to be affected by floc properties and the resultant removal efficiency, which was governed by the MW of the CTS used and the slow-mixing speed applied as well. | Peng Du Xing Li Yanling Yang Zhaoyang Su Hang Li Nan Wang Tingting Guo Tingting Zhang Zhiwei Zhou | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,8: | 3
Nodeless superconductivity in the kagome metal CsV_(3)Sb_(5)显示文摘The recently discovered kagome metal series AV3Sb5(A=K, Rb, Cs) exhibits topologically nontrivial band structures, chiral charge order and superconductivity, presenting a unique platform for realizing exotic electronic states. The nature of the superconducting state and the corresponding pairing symmetry are key questions that demand experimental clarification. Here, using a technique based on the tunneling diode oscillator, the magnetic penetration depth ?λ(T) of CsV3Sb5 was measured down to 0.07 K. A clear exponential behavior in ?λ(T) with marked deviations from a T or T2 temperature dependence was observed at low temperatures, indicating an absence of nodal quasiparticles. Temperature dependence of the superfiuid density and electronic specific heat can be described by two-gap s-wave superconductivity, consistent with the presence of multiple Fermi surfaces in CsV3Sb5. These results evidence nodeless superconductivity in CsV3Sb5 under ambient pressure, and constrain the allowed pairing symmetry. | Weiyin Duan Zhiyong Nie Shuaishuai Luo Fanghang Yu Brenden R.Ortiz Lichang Yin Hang Su Feng Du An Wang Ye Chen Xin Lu Jianjun Ying Stephen DWilson Xianhui Chen Yu Song Huiqiu Yuan | 2021 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2021,64,10: | 3

Efficient compressive sensing tracking via mixed classifier decision显示文摘Recent years have witnessed successful use of tracking-by-detection methods, with a number of promising results being achieved. Most of these algorithms use a sliding window to collect samples and then employ these samples to train and update the classifiers. They also use an updated classifier to establish the appearance model and they take the maximum response value of the classifier as the location of the target within a fixed radius. Compressive Tracking(CT) is a novel tracking-by-detection algorithm that updates the appearance model in a compressed domain. However, the conventional CT algorithm uses a single classifier to detect the target, and if the selected region drifts, the classifier may become inaccurate. Furthermore, the CT algorithm updates the classifier parameters with a constant learning rate. Therefore, if the target is completely occluded for an extended period, the classifier will instead learn the features of the covered object and the target will ultimately be lost. To overcome these problems, we present a compressive sensing tracking algorithm using mixed classifier decision. The main improvements in our algorithm are that it adopts mixed classifiers to locate the target and it applies a dynamic learning rate to update the appearance model. An experimental comparison with state-of-the-art algorithms on eight benchmark video sequences in complicated situations shows that the proposed algorithm achieves the best performance with 12 pixels on the average center location error and 66.82%on the average overlap score. | Hang SUN Jing LI Jun CHANG Bo DU Zhenyang SU | 2016 | Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,7: | 3
A cabazitaxel liposome for increased solubility, enhanced antitumor effect and reduced systemic toxicity显示文摘The potential side effects of cabazitaxel(CBZ)in the field of cancer treatment have become a great limitation to its further clinical application.Liposomal delivery is a well-established approach to increase the therapeutic index of hydrophobic drugs. In this study,a PEGmodified liposome was developed for efficiently encapsulating CBZ,thus enhancing its specific tumor inhibition effect and reducing the systemic toxicity. It was found that the loading efficiency of CBZ into the liposome could be improved with the increase of lipophilic materials,as it could be over 80%under the weight ratio of 20:1(total lipid:CBZ).The diameter of CBZ loaded liposome(CBZ@Lipo)was^100 nm.And the liposome suspending in aqueous medium was stable at 4°C for at least one month, according to the change of its size distribution. The killing ability of CBZ@Lipo to cancer cells was significantly lower comparing to that of CBZ solution, which could be attributed to the slow release of CBZ from the liposomes.However,CBZ@Lipo could induce an obvious apoptosis of the cancer cells at low concentration.Furthermore,CBZ@Lipo exhibited an expressively enhanced tumor growth inhibition effect comparing to CBZ solution.More importantly,CBZ@Lipo showed an obviously higher biosafety proved by lower hemolysis probability, stable body weight of mice during the whole experiment and no obvious lesion in histology analysis. Our work provided a useful reference of the formulation of CBZ,which had potential for greater clinical application. | Xiaoyi Yin Lihua Luo Wei Li Jie Yang Chunqi Zhu Mengshi Jiang Bing qin Xiaoling Yuan Hang Yin Yichao Lu Yongzhong Du Dawei Chen Jian You | 2019 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019,14,6: | 3
Genes encoding heat shock proteins in the endoparasitoid wasp,Cotesia chilonis, and their expression in response to temperatures显示文摘Five genes encoding heat shock proteins(HSPs), Cchsp40, Cchsp60, Cchsp70, Cchsc70 and Cchsp90, were cloned and sequenced from Cotesia chilonis using RT-PCR and RACE. The c DNA sequences of Cchsp40, Cchsp60, Cchsp70, Cchsc70 and Cchsp90 were 1 265, 2 551, 2 094, 2 297 and 2 635 bp in length, respectively, with a molecular weight(MW) of 39.1, 60.6, 71.45, 70.19 and 82.92 k Da, respectively. The predicted amino acid sequences of these proteins showed high similarities with published HSPs of other insects in Hymenoptera. Analysis of genomic DNAs indicated that Cchsp40, Cchsp60, Cchsp70 and Cchsp90 lacked introns, but Cchsc70 contained an intron. The results also suggested that CcH SP40 in C. chilonis was the Type II HSP40, Cc HSP60 was a member of the mitochondrial HSP60 family, and Cc HSP90 was a part of cytoplasmic HSP90 A family. Expression patterns varied in the five Cchsps in response to temperature. Expression of Cchsp40 and Cchsp60 was induced significantly by cold but not heat stress. Cchsp70 and Cchsc70 showed similar response to the thermal stress and could be induced by both cold and heat, but their expression levels were consistently lower than that of Cchsp40 and Cchsp60. Cchsp90 could be induced by heat stress and mild cold, but not cold stress. In addition, the results demonstrated Cchsc70 might be constitutive and inducible protein that was expressed during normal cell functioning and also up-regulated in response to stressful stimuli while Cchsp70 was solely inducible protein induced by temperature changes. Overall, results generated from this study could significantly advance the understanding of Cchsps in response to temperature and provide important biological information for C. chilonis insects that reared under different temperatures. | PAN Dan-dan CAO Shuang-shuang LU Ming-xing HANG San-bao DU Yu-zhou | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2018,17,5: | 3
