| 1 | Effects of dietary fiber on human health显示文摘Dietary fiber(DF)is believed to provide important health benefits and it has become a research hotspot.DF exists in most natural foods,including fruits(16.74%-91.24%),vegetables(6.53%-85.19%),grains(9.76%-69.20%)and so on.DF has different physicochemical properties such as water holding capacity(WHC)(2.01-25.03 g/g),water swelling capacity(WSC)(0.95-23.90 mL/g),oil holding capacity(OHC)(0.65-29.00 g/g),glucose adsorption capacity(GAC)(0.17-4.65 mmol/g),cholesterol adsorption capacity(CAC)(0.03-37.10 mg/g)and viscosity,which make it exhibits different physiological functions such as reducing the risk of obesity,diabetes,cancer,and intestinal diseases.On the basis of consulting related databases,the physicochemical properties of DF and its derived physiological functions are reviewed.It is found that DF has effect on the prevention and treatment of obesity due to good WHC,WSC,OHC and CAC.Good GAC can relieve the symptoms of diabetes.The physicochemical properties of WHC and WSC can reduce the risk of cancer.The WHC,WSC and viscosity are beneficial to intestinal health. | Yang He Bixiang Wang Liankui Wen Fengzhong Wang Hansong Yu Dongxia Chen Xin Su Chi Zhang | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,1: | 15 |

| 3 | Electrochemical micromachining of micro-dimple arrays on cylindrical inner surfaces using a dry-film photoresist显示文摘The application of surface textures has been employed to improve the tribological performance of various mechanical components. Various techniques have been used for the application of surface textures such as micro-dimple arrays, but the fabrication of such arrays on cylindrical inner surfaces remains a challenge. In this study, a dry-film photoresist is used as a mask during through-mask electrochemical micromachining to successfully prepare micro-dimple arrays with dimples 94 lm in diameter and 22.7 lm deep on cylindrical inner surfaces, with a machining time of 9 s and an applied voltage of 8 V. The versatility of this method is demonstrated, as are its potential low cost and high efficiency. | 4 | Riboflavin-induced Priming for Pathogen Defense in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Riboflavin (vitamin B2) participates in a variety of redox processes that affect plant defense responses. Previously we have shown that riboflavin induces pathogen resistance in the absence of hypersensitive cell death (HCD) in plants. Herein, we report that ribo-avin induces priming of defense responses in Arabidopsis thaliana toward infection by virulent Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 (Pst). Induced resistance was mechanistically connected with the expression of defense response genes and cellular defense events, including H2O2 burst, HCD, and callose deposition in the plant. Riboflavin treatment and inoculation of plants with Pst were neither active but both synergized to induce defense responses. The priming process needed NPR1 (essential regulator of systemic acquired resistance) and maintenance of H2O2 burst but was independent of salicylic acid, jasmonic acid, ethylene, and abscisic acid. | 5 | Effect of Astragalus polysaccharide in treatment of diabetes mellitus: a narrative review显示文摘Diabetes mellitus is a chronic endocrine/metabolism disease characterized by hyperglycemia arising from defects in insulin action, insulin secretion,or both. Diabetes mellitus is often complicated by visceral lesions, which can lead to serious complications and death. A variety of new agents are in development for the treatment of the disease. Astragalus polysaccharides are monomer components extracted from the Traditional Chinese Medicine,Huangqi(Radix Astragali Mongolici), which have been studied widely for treating diabetes mellitus with promising effects in recent years. This paper reviews recent advances in experimental studies on the effects of Astragalus polysaccharides in treating diabetes mellitus. | 6 | Simulation and experimental investigation of inner-jet electrochemical grinding of GH4169 alloy显示文摘GH4169 alloy is one of the most commonly used materials in aero engine turbine blades,but its machinability is poor because of its excellent strength at high temperatures. Electrochemical machining(ECM) has become a common method for machining this alloy and other difficult-tomachine materials. Electrochemical grinding(ECG) is a hybrid process combining ECM and conventional grinding. In this paper, investigations conducted on inner-jet ECG of GH4169 alloy are described. Two types of inner-jet ECG grinding wheels were used to machine a flat bottom surface.The machining process was simulated using COMSOL software, and machining gaps under different machining parameters were obtained. In addition, maximum feed rates and maximum material removal rates under different machining parameters were studied experimentally. The maximum sizes and the uniformity of the distributions of the gaps machined by the two grinding wheels were compared. | 13 | Hierarchical structure observation and nanoindentation size effect characterization for a limnetic shell显示文摘In the present research, hierarchical structure observation and mechanical property characterization for a type of biomaterial are carried out. The investigated biomaterial is Hyriopsis cumingii, a typical limnetic shell, which consists of two different structural layers, a prismatic 'pillar'structure and a nacreous 'brick and mortar' structure. The prismatic layer looks like a 'pillar forest' with variationsection pillars sized on the order of several tens of microns.The nacreous material looks like a 'brick wall' with bricks sized on the order of several microns. Both pillars and bricks are composed of nanoparticles. The mechanical properties of the hierarchical biomaterial are measured by using the nanoindentation test. Hardness and modulus are measured for both the nacre layer and the prismatic layer, respectively.The nanoindentation size effects for the hierarchical structural materials are investigated experimentally. The results show that the prismatic nanostructured material has a higher stiffness and hardness than the nacre nanostructured material.In addition, the nanoindentation size effects for the hierarchical structural materials are described theoretically, by using the trans-scale mechanics theory considering both strain gradient effect and the surface/interface effect. | 17 | Improvement of machining consistency during through-mask electrochemical large-area machining显示文摘Electrochemical machining(ECM) is an important machining technique for the aeronautical manufacturing industry. Through-mask ECM is a form of ECM for machining metal parts with a hole array. In order to extend the machining area, a serpentine flow channel with multiple curves was used for through-mask ECM. With the extension of the flow channel, ensuring a machining consistency along the flow channel has been a challenge. The electrolyte conductivity is the main factor affecting the machining consistency. To analyze the change rules of the electrolyte conductivity, variations in the bubble rate and the temperature of the electrolyte in the electrolyte flow were explored under different power sources. Results indicate that pulse-power machining can reduce variations in the bubble rate and the temperature in the serpentine flow channel, and then the electrolyte conductivity can be stabilized within a very small range. Experiments using through-mask ECM were conducted in two types of power sources. Experimental results support the importance of pulse-power machining. A 14×28 hole array with a 2.5 mm diameter was fabricated by a pulsed power source. | 18 | DNA methylome and transcriptome landscapes revealed differential characteristics of dioecious flowers in papaya显示文摘Separate sexes in dioecious plants display different morphology and physiological characteristics.The differences between the two sexes lie in their highly differentiated floral characteristics and in sex-related phenotype,which is genetically determined and epigenetically modified.In dioecious papaya(Carica papaya L.),global comparisons of epigenetic DNA methylation and gene expressions were still limited.We conducted bisulfite sequencing of early-stage flowers grown in three seasons(spring,summer and winter)and compared their methylome and transcriptome profiles to investigate the differential characteristics of male and female in papaya.Methylation variances between female and male papaya were conserved among three different seasons.However,combined genome-scale transcriptomic evidence revealed that most methylation variances did not have influence on the expression profiles of neighboring genes,and the differentially expressed genes were most overrepresented in phytohormone signal transduction pathways.Further analyses showed diverse stress-responsive methylation alteration in male and female flowers.Male flower methylation was more responsive to stress whereas female flower methylation varied less under stress.Early flowering of male papaya in spring might be associated with the variation in the transcription of CpSVP and CpAP1 coinciding with their gene-specific hypomethylation.These findings provide insights into the sex-specific DNA methylation and gene expression landscapes of dioecious papaya and a foundation to investigate the correlation between differentiated floral characteristics and their candidate genes. | Ping Zhou Xiaodan Zhang Mahpara Fatima Xinyi Ma Hongkun Fang Hansong Yan Ray Ming | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |
