Effects of Silicon-Based Fertilizer on Growth, Yield and Nutrient Uptake of Rice in Tropical Zone of Vietnam显示文摘Application of silicon(Si) could greatly boost rice yield and mitigate abiotic stress, especially drought.A field experiment was conducted during 2015 at the research farm of Hong Duc University,Thanh Hoa City,Vietnam,to evaluate the effects of five different combined doses of standard fertilizer practice and Si fertilizer on growth, yield and yield components,as well as nutrient uptake of rice. The treatments consisted of the recommended dose of fertilizer(RDF,110 kg/hm^2 N + 90 kg/hm^2 P_2O_5 + 80 kg/hm^2 K_2O) as the control,RDF + 100 kg/hm^2 SiO_2,RDF + 200 kg/hm^2 SiO_2,RDF + 300 kg/hm^2 SiO_2 and RDF + 400 kg/hm^2 SiO_2.The results showed that the growth, grain and straw yields as well as yield components(number of grains per panicle,seed-setting rate and 1000-grain weight) were significantly affected by Si application. The highest grain yield of 3 705 kg/hm^2 was obtained with the highest level of Si fertilizer in combination with RDF(RDF + 400 kg/hm^2 SiO_2),however,it was statistically at par with the yields obtained with RDF + 300 kg/hm^2 SiO_2(3 664 kg/hm^2) and RDF + 200 kg/hm^2 SiO_2(3 621 kg/hm^2).The optimum dose of Si fertilizer with maximized grain yield(3 716 kg/hm^2) was 329 kg/hm^2 SiO_2.The nutrient(Si,N,P and K) uptakes of rice were also significantly enhanced by Si application.Si application at the level of 329 kg/hm^2 along with RDF would help in the sustainable production of rice in the tropical zone of Vietnam. | Tran Xuan CUONG Hayat ULLAH Avishek DATTA Tran Cong HANH | 2017 | Rice science2017,24,5: | 16
Development of bis-thiobarbiturates as successful urease inhibitors and their molecular modeling studies显示文摘Bis-thiobarbiturate derivatives 1–15 have been synthesized, characterized by1 HNMR and EI-MS and screened for urease inhibition. All compounds showed various degree of urease inhibitory activity with IC_(50) values ranging 7.45 0.12 74.24 0.81 mmol/L while the standard thiourea behaved normally(IC_(50) = 21.10 0.12). Compounds 1(IC_(50) = 7.45 0.12 μmol/L), 9(IC_(50) = 18.17 1.03 μmol/L) and 13(IC_(50) = 8.61 0.45 μmol/L) showed excellent urease inhibitory activity in the series. Molecular modeling studies were performed to understand the binding site with the bimetallic nickel center of the enzyme.Structure-activity relationship has also been established for these compounds. | 4 | Spatio-temporal changes in the six major glaciers of the Chitral River basin(Hindukush Region of Pakistan)between 2001 and 2018显示文摘Glaciers in the northern Pakistan are a distinctive source of freshwater for the irrigation, drinking and industrial water supplies of the people living in those regions and downstream. These glaciers are under a direct global warming impact as indicated in many previous studies. In this study, we estimated the glacier dynamics in terms of Equilibrium Line Altitude(ELA), mass balance and the snout position variation using remote sensing data between 2001 and 2018. Six glaciers, having area≥ 20 km2 each, situated in the Chitral region(Hindukush Mountains) were investigated in this study. Digital Elevation Model(DEM) and available cloud-free continuous series of Landsat and Sentinel satellite images from minimum snow cover season were used to monitor the variability in the studied glaciers by keeping the status of glaciers in year 2001 as a reference. The annual climatic trends of mean temperature and total precipitation from Chitral weather station were detected using the nonparametric Mann-Kendall’s test. Results revealed a general increase in the ELA, decrease in the glacier mass balance and the retreat of snout position.Average upward shift in the ELA for the entire study area and data period was ~345 ± 93 m at a rate of^13 m.a-1 from the reference year’s position i.e.~4803 m asl. Estimated mean mass balance for the entire study area indicated a decline of-0.106 ± 0.295 m w.e. a-1. Periods of snout retreat and advance in different glaciers were found but the mean value over the entire study area was a retreat of-231 ± 140 m.No obvious relationship was found between the glacier variation trends and the available gauged climatic data possibly due to the presence of debris cover in ablation zones of all the studied glaciers which provides insulation and reduces the immediate climatic effects. | Jawaria GUL Sher MUHAMMAD LIU Shi-yin Siddique ULLAH Shakeel AHMAD Huma HAYAT Adnan Ahmad TAHIR | 2020 | Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,3: | 1
Anomaly Based Camera Prioritization in Large Scale Surveillance Networks显示文摘Digital surveillance systems are ubiquitous and continuously generate massive amounts of data, and manual monitoring is required in order to recognise human activities in public areas.Intelligent surveillance systems that can automatically identify normal and abnormal activities are highly desirable,as these would allow for efficient monitoring by selecting only those camera feeds in which abnormal activities are occurring. This paper proposes an energy-efficient camera prioritisation framework that intelligently adjusts the priority of cameras in a vast surveillance network using feedback from the activity recognition system. The proposed system addresses the limitations of existing manual monitoring surveillance systems using a three-step framework. In the first step, the salient frames are selected from the online video stream using a frame differencing method.A lightweight 3D convolutional neural network(3DCNN)architecture is applied to extract spatio-temporal features from the salient frames in the second step. Finally, the probabilities predicted by the 3DCNN network and the metadata of the cameras are processed using a linear threshold gate sigmoid mechanism to control the priority of the camera. The proposed system performs well compared to state-of-theart violent activity recognition methods in terms of efficient camera prioritisation in large-scale surveillance networks.Comprehensive experiments and an evaluation of activity recognition and camera prioritisation showed that our approach achieved an accuracy of 98%with an F1-score of 0.97 on the Hockey Fight dataset, and an accuracy of 99%with an F1-score of 0.98 on the Violent Crowd dataset. | Altaf Hussain Khan Muhammad Hayat Ullah Amin Ullah Ali Shariq Imran Mi Young Lee Seungmin Rho Muhammad Sajjad | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 1

Comparative study for machine learning classifier recommendation to predict political affiliation based on online显示文摘In the current era of social media, different platforms such as Twitter and Facebook have frequently been used by leaders and the followers of political parties to participate in political events, campaigns, and elections. The acquisition, analysis, and presentation of such content have received considerable attention from opinion-mining researchers. For this purpose, different supervised and unsupervised techniques have been used. However, they have produced less efficient results, which need to be improved by incorporating additional classifiers with the extended data sets. The authors investigate different su-pervised machine learning classifiers for classifying the political affiliations of users. For this purpose,a data set of political reviews is acquired from Twitter and annotated with different polarity classes. After pre-processing,different machine learning classifiers like K-nearest neighbor,naïve Bayes, support vector machine, extreme gradient boosting, and others, are applied.Experimental results illustrate that support vector machine and extreme gradient boosting have shown promising results for predicting political affiliations. | Hayat Ullah Bashir Ahmad Iqra Sana Anum Sattar Aurangzeb Khan Saima Akbar Muhammad Zubair Asghar | 2021 | CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology2021,6,3: | 0
Iron Toxicity Tolerance of Rice Genotypes in Relation to Growth,Yield and Physiochemical Characters显示文摘Iron(Fe)toxicity, generated from excess reduced ferrous Fe(Fe^(2+))ion formation within the soil under submerged condition,is a potent environmental stress that limits lowland rice production.Total 11 diverse Thai rice genotypes, including a recognized tolerant genotype Azucena and a susceptible genotype IR64,were evaluated against 5 Fe^(2+)levels[0(control),150,300,600 and 900 mg/L]to screen the tested genotypes for their Fe-toxicity tolerance and to classify them as a sensitive/tolerant category. The evaluation was conducted by a germination study, followed by a polyhouse study on growth, yield and physiochemical performances. Results showed significant variations in Fe^(2+)-tolerance across genotypes.Increasing Fe^(2+)level beyond 300 mg/L was detrimental for germination and growth of all the tested genotypes, although germination responses were negatively affected at Fe^(2+)≥300 mg/L.Physiochemical responses in the form of leaf greenness, net photosynthetic rate, membrane stability index and Fe contents in leaf and root were the most representative of Fe^(2+)-toxicity-mediated impairments on overall growth and yield.Difference in physiochemical responses was effectively correlated with the contrasting ability of the genotypes on lowering excess Fe^(2+)in tissues.Analysis of average tolerance and stress tolerance index unveiled that the genotypes RD85 and RD31 were the closest to the tolerant check Azucena and the sensitive check IR64,respectively.The unweighted pair group method with arithmetic means clustering revealed three major clusters, with cluster Ⅱ(four genotypes)being Fe^(2+)tolerant and cluster Ⅰ(four genotypes)being Fe^(2+)sensitive.Principal component(PC)analysis and genotype by trait-biplot analysis showed that the first two components explained 90.5%of the total variation, with PC1 accounting for 56.6%and PC2 for 33.9%of the total variation. The identified tolerant rice genotypes show potentials for cultivation in Fe^(2+)-toxic lowlands for increased productivity. The findings contribute to the present understanding on Fe^(2+)-toxicity response and provide a basis for future genotype selection or rice crop improvement programs against Fe^(2+)-toxicity. | Sheikh Faruk AHMED Hayat ULLAH May Zun AUNG Rujira TISARUM Suriyan CHA-UM Avishek DATTA | 2023 | Rice science2023,30,4: | 0
Perceptual quality assessment of panoramic stitched contents for immersive applications:a prospective survey显示文摘The recent advancements in the field of Virtual Reality(VR)and Augmented Reality(AR)have a substantial impact on modern day technology by digitizing each and everything related to human life and open the doors to the next generation Software Technology(Soft Tech).VR and AR technology provide astonishing immersive contents with the help of high quality stitched panoramic contents and 360°imagery that widely used in the education, gaming, entertainment, and production sector. The immersive quality of VR and AR contents are greatly dependent on the perceptual quality of panoramic or 360°images,in fact a minor visual distortion can significantly degrade the overall quality. Thus,to ensure the quality of constructed panoramic contents for VR and AR applications, numerous Stitched Image Quality Assessment(SIQA)methods have been proposed to assess the quality of panoramic contents before using in VR and AR.In this survey,we provide a detailed overview of the SIQA literature and exclusively focus on objective SIQA methods presented till date. For better understanding, the objective SIQA methods are classified into two classes namely Full-Reference SIQA and No-Reference SIQA approaches. Each class is further categorized into traditional and deep learning-based methods and examined their performance for SIQA task.Further,we shortlist the publicly available benchmark SIQA datasets and evaluation metrices used for quality assessment of panoramic contents. In last,we highlight the current challenges in this area based on the existing SIQA methods and suggest future research directions that need to be target for further improvement in SIQA domain. | Hayat ULLAH Sitara AFZAL Imran Ullah KHAN | 2022 | Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2022,4,3: | 0
Determinants of corporate cash holdings in tranquil and turbulent period:evidence from an emerging economy显示文摘Using a sample of 280 firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange,we empirically investigate factors that determine corporate cash holdings in different periods from 2005 to 2014.We divide the sample into three sub-periods—pre-crisis,crisis,and post-crisis—and apply a panel data model to estimate the results. The results suggest that financial crises affect firms’cash holdings policies.Further, findings show that financial crisis has influenced the relationship of size and leverage with cash holdings. In particular, cash flow, liquidity, and tangibility are major determinants of cash holdings in the sub-periods.We present important implications for corporate managers, academicians, and policymakers. | Khalil Jebran Amjad Iqbal Kalim Ullah Bhat Muhammad Arif Khan Mustansar Hayat | 2019 | Financial Innovation2019,5,1: | 0
Early Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy Using Machine Intelligence throughDeep Transfer and Representational Learning显示文摘Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a retinal disease that causes irreversible blindness.DR occurs due to the high blood sugar level of the patient, and it is clumsy tobe detected at an early stage as no early symptoms appear at the initial level. To preventblindness, early detection and regular treatment are needed. Automated detectionbased on machine intelligence may assist the ophthalmologist in examining thepatients’ condition more accurately and efficiently. The purpose of this study is toproduce an automated screening system for recognition and grading of diabetic retinopathyusing machine learning through deep transfer and representational learning. The artificial intelligence technique used is transfer learning on the deep neural network,Inception-v4. Two configuration variants of transfer learning are applied onInception-v4: Fine-tune mode and fixed feature extractor mode. Both configurationmodes have achieved decent accuracy values, but the fine-tuning method outperformsthe fixed feature extractor configuration mode. Fine-tune configuration modehas gained 96.6% accuracy in early detection of DR and 97.7% accuracy in gradingthe disease and has outperformed the state of the art methods in the relevant literature. | Fouzia Nawaz Muhammad Ramzan Khalid Mehmood Hikmat Ullah Khan Saleem Hayat Khan Muhammad Raheel Bhutta | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,2: | 0
Integrated assessment of extreme climate and landuse change impact on sediment yield in a mountainous transboundary watershed of India and Pakistan显示文摘Assessment of climate and land use changes impact including extreme events on the sediment yield is vital for water and power stressed countries. Mangla Reservoir is the second-largest reservoir in Pakistan, and its capacity is being reduced due to rapid sedimentation and will be threatened under climate and land use changes. This paper discusses the consequences of climate and land use change on sediment yield at Mangla Dam using General Circulation Models(GCMs), Land Change Modeler(LCM), Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) model after calibration and validation. Results show that over the historical period temperature is observed to increase by 0.10 o C/decade and forest cover is observed to reduce to the level of only 16% in 2007. Nevertheless, owing to the forest conservation policy, the forest cover raised back to 27% in 2012. Anticipated land use maps by using LCM of 2025, 2050 and 2100 showed that the forest cover will be 33%, 39.2%, and, 53.7%, respectively. All seven GCMs projected the increase in temperature and five GCMs projected an increase in precipitation, however, two GCMs projected a decrease in precipitation. Owing to climate change, land use change and combined impact of climate and land use change on annual sediment yield(2011-2100) may vary from-42.9% to 39.4%, 0% to-27.3% and,-73%to 39.4%, respectively. Under climate change scenarios projected sediment yield is mainly linked with extreme events and is expected to increase with the increase in extreme events. Under land use change scenarios projected sediment yield is mainly linked with the forest cover and is expected to decrease with the increase in forest cover. The results of this study are beneficial for planners, watershed managers and policymakers to mitigate the impacts of climate and land use changes to enhance reservoir life by reducing the sediment yield. | Muhammad BABUR Sangam SHRESTHA Binod BHATTA Avishek DATTA Hayat ULLAH | 2020 | Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,3: | 0
Mechanical and magneto-electronic properties of europium lanthanide-based cubic perovskites EuYO_(3)(Y=Cr, Mn, Fe): An ab initio study显示文摘Computational calculations using density functional theory(DFT) were performed for the first time using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method(FP-LAPW + LO) to determine the structural, elastic, electronic and magnetic properties of europium-based cubic perovskites EuYO_(3)(Y=Cr, Mn, Fe). The exchange correlation potentials of GGA along with some analytical methods were adopted for the computation of structural and elastic properties. Moreover, the GGA + U formalism was also added for obtaining more precise electronic and magnetic properties, particularly to address the Eu-4f and Y-3d orientations in the spin-polarized double cell symmetry. The observed lattice parameters of these compounds are consistent with experiment. The observed bulk moduli predict that EuCrO_(3) is harder and less compressible than EuMnO_(3) and EuFeO_(3). The calculated tolerance factors of these compounds are within the cubic symmetry range. Our computed critical radius of EuCrO_(3) shows that EuCrO_(3) has a larger migration energy. Based on their elastic properties, these compounds are ductile in nature. We also computed the thermal properties of these compounds. The band structures and density of states show that these compounds are metallic in character. The lowest ground state energy and magnetic moments of these compounds expose their ferromagnetic nature. The metallic nature and strong ferromagnetism of these compounds make them promising applicants for application in spintronic. | Hayat Ullah Azra Sarwar Sajad Ali Rabah Khenata Abdelmadjid Bouhemadou Saad Bin-Omran | 2024 | Journal of Rare Earths2024,42,3: | 0
Polarization-based optimal detection scheme for digital self-interference cancellation in full-duplex system显示文摘In order to detect and cancel the self-interference(SI)signal from desired binary phase-shift keying(BPSK)signal, the polarization-based optimal detection(POD)scheme for cancellation of digital SI in a full-duplex(FD)system is proposed. The POD scheme exploits the polarization domain to isolate the desired signal from the SI signal and then cancel the SI to obtain the interference-free desired signal at the receiver. In FD communication, after antenna and analog cancellation, the receiver still contains residual SI due to non-linearities of hardware imperfections. In POD scheme,a likelihood ratio expression is obtained, which isolates and detects SI bits from the desired bits. After isolation of these signal points, the POD scheme cancels the residual SI.As compared to the conventional schemes, the proposed POD scheme gives significantly low bit error rate(BER),a clear constellation diagram to obtain the boundary between desired and SI signal points, and increases the receiver's SI cancellation performance in low signal to interference ratio(SIR)environment. | Adil Khan Zhang Jinling Muhammad Ayzed Mirza Sibghat Ullah Erum Ab basi Babar Hayat | 2020 | The Journal of China Universities of Posts and Telecommunications2020,27,3: | 0
Influence of preceding crop and tillage system on forage yield and quality of selected summer grass and legume forage crops under arid conditions显示文摘Among the crop production factors, preceding crop and tillage management affect the sustainable use of soil resources and ultimately crop growth and productivity. This study aimed at investigating the impact of preceding winter crops(grass or legume)and different tillage systems on forage yield, quality and nutritive values of three summer grass(Sudan grass, pearl millet and teosinte)and two legume forage crops(cowpea and guar)under arid conditions. The results exhibited that growing forage crops after legumes(as berseem clover)produced the highest fresh and dry forage yields and quality attributes compared with grasses(as wheat)with the exception of crude fiber content, which was decreased. Moreover, tillage practices showed positive impact on forage yields and quality attributes. The maximum forage yields and quality parameters were recorded under conventional tillage(CT)practice compared with reduced tillage(RT)and no-tillage(NT)systems.Among the evaluated crops, the highest yields of fresh forage, dry forage, crude fiber, crude protein and total digestible nutrient were exhibited by grass forage crops(Sudan grass, pearl millet and teosinte),whereas the highest crude protein content and the digestible energy values were produced by legume forage crops(cowpea and guar). The maximum fresh forage, dry forage, crude fiber, crude protein, total digestible nutrient and digestible crude protein yields were produced by pearl millet followed by Sudan grass under CT and RT after berseem clover. The highest net return was recorded by sowing pearl millet after berseem clover and applying CT followed by RT practices, which could be recommended for the commercial production. Moreover,it could be assumed that the combination of growing grass forage crops after legume crops under CT or RT systems could enhance forage crop yield and quality with an improvement in soil properties for sustainable agriculture with low cost and the highest net income. | Hend H.M.HASSAN El-Sayed E.A.EL-SOBKY Elsayed MANSOUR Ahmed S.M.El-KHOLY Mohamed F.AWAD Hayat ULLAH Avishek DATTA | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,11: | 0
Efficient construction of a substitution box based on a Mordell elliptic curve over a finite field显示文摘Elliptic curve cryptography has been used in many security systems due to its small key size and high security compared with other cryptosystems. In many well-known security systems, a substitution box (S-box) is the only non-linear component. Recently, it has been shown that the security of a cryptosystem can be improved using dynamic S-boxes instead of a static S-box. This necessitates the construction of new secure S-boxes. We propose an efficient method to generate S-boxes that are based on a class of Mordell elliptic curves over prime fields and achieved by defining different total orders. The proposed scheme is devel-oped in such a way that for each input it outputs an S-box in linear time and constant space. Due to this property, our method takes less time and space than the existing S-box construction methods over elliptic curves. Computational results show that the pro-posed method is capable of generating cryptographically strong S-boxes with security comparable to some of the existing S-boxes constructed via different mathematical structures. | Naveed Ahmed AZAM Umar HAYAT Ikram ULLAH | 2019 | Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2019,20,10: | 0
