5Terahertz-dependent evaluation of water content in high-water-cut crude oil using additive-manufactured samplers显示文摘The evaluation of water content in crude oil is of significance to petroleum exploration and transportation.Terahertz(THz) waves are sensitive to fluctuations in the dipole moment of water.However,due to the strong absorption of water in the THz range,it is difficult for the THz spectrum to determine high water content with the common sampler.In this research,micron-grade samplers for THz detection were designed and manufactured using additive manufacturing(AM) technology.Oil-water mixtures with water content from 1.8%to 90.6%were measured with the THz-TDS system using sample cells.In addition,a detailed analysis was performed of the relationships among THz parameters such as signal peak,time delay,and refractive index as well as absorption coefficient and high water content(>60%).Results suggest that the combination of THz spectroscopy and AM technique is effective for water content evaluation in crude oil and can be further applied in the petroleum industry.LiMei Guan HongLei Zhan XinYang Miao Jing Zhu Kun Zhao 2017Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2017,60,4:3
6Characterization of the key aroma compounds in four varieties of pomegranate juice by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),gas chromatography-olfactometry(GC-O),odor activity value(OAV),aroma recombination,and omission tests显示文摘P omegranate(Punica granatum L.)has attracted considerable attention in world markets due to its valuable nutrients and highly appreciated sensory properties.The aroma profiles of 4 varieties of pomegranate juice,including Dahongtian(DP),Jingpitian(JP),Luyudan(LP),and Tianhonngdan(TP),were investigated via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and gas chromatography-olfactometry(GC-O)analyses.A total of 43 volatile compounds were identified by using GC-MS.Among these compounds,16 were considered as potential aroma-active compounds as detected by GC-O.These compounds belonged to the classes of terpinenes,alcohols,and aldehydes.Eleven volatile compounds were defined as the main contributors to the overall aroma of pomegranate juice due to their high odor activity values(OAVs≥1).Aroma recombination and omission tests confirmed thatβ-myrcene,1-hexanol,and(Z)-3-hexen-1-ol were the key aroma compounds,and limonene,1-octen-3-ol,linalool,and hexanal were important aroma-active compounds in DP samples.Cong Lu Yuyu Zhang Ping Zhan Peng Wang Honglei Tian 2023Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,1:3

8Effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the volatile compounds of mutton broth during boiling显示文摘To investigate the effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the flavor modification of mutton broth during boiling,three mutton-broth samples with various thyme contents 0.06%(S1),0.30%(S2),and1.50%(S3)were analyzed and compared,without thyme as control(0.00%,S0).The meaty,fatty,pastoral flavor and spicy were chosen as sensory attributes to evaluate the flavor of the mutton-broth samples.Sensory results were significantly different(P<0.001),with S2 having the optimum overall acceptability.A total of 99 volatile compounds were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,among which19 compounds were considered as the odor-active compounds according to their odor activity values.Significant changes(P<0.05)appeared in most volatiles in S0 with thyme addition,especially aldehydes.Free fatty acids(FFAs)were also identified,and all of them significantly increased with increased thyme(P<0.05).Correlation analysis of odor-active compounds,FFAs,and sensory attributes through partial least squares regression indicated the important volatiles and FFAs remarkably contributed to the mutton broth samples,and further confirmed that the 0.30%of thyme may be a desirable addition amount for the sensory characteristics of mutton broth.Shasha Qi Ping Zhan Honglei Tian Peng Wang Xueping Ma Kaixuan Li 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,2:2

16Leakage detection of oil tank using terahertz spectroscopy显示文摘The necessity for safety in oil-gas storage and transportation has led to increasing technical requirements for on-line monitoring of damaged pores and oil leakage from tanks. In this study, the severity of damage of the oil tank at the micron level was detected by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS), which is of great significance for the early detection and prevention of oil leakage. The THz amplitude(EP) was related to the severity of damaged according to the THz-TDS measurement of oil tanks with various degrees of damage, including intact, partially damaged, completely damaged, and seriously damaged points.Absorption and scattering effects co-occurred when the THz wave penetrated the tanks, with the collective tendencies being used to expressly monitor oil leakage from tanks. When the oil tank was damaged to form micron-level pores and the crude oil had not overflowed, the pore size was close to THz wavelength and the Mie scattering effect was obvious. After further destruction of the pores, the crude oil gradually spilled over and the scattering effect was gradually transformed from Mie scattering to Rayleigh scattering. In addition, the polar molecules in crude oil have strong resonance under the irradiation of THz wave, and the THz wave has strong attenuation. Eventually, surface tension of the oil flattens the surface of the tank, the scattering effect is gradually suppressed and replaced by the absorption effect. Absorption and scattering caused by THz waves passing through tanks coexist and have competing relationships. The change rule of EPcan successfully prove the phenomenon and can be considered as an important alternative for application to predict the degree of tank damage. 17Terahertz-dependent PM2.5 monitoring and grading in the atmosphere显示文摘Rapid industrialization and economic development have led to serious pollution in the form of fine particulate matter(PM2.5,particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 μm). In China, PM2.5 has been one of the most debated topics in councils of government and issues of public concern. Terahertz(THz) radiation was employed to measure the PM2.5 in the atmosphere from September 2014 to April 2015 in Beijing. Comparison of the PM2.5 level from the website with THz absorbance revealed a significant phenomenon: THz radiation can be used to monitor PM2.5 in the atmosphere. During Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) 2014, 'APEC Blue' was also recorded in a THz system. The relationship between absorbance and PM2.5 demonstrates that THz radiation is an effective selection for air pollution grading. Based on the absorbance spectra, the elemental compositions were studied by two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy(2 DCOS) in conjunction with X-ray fluorescence.Several single absorption peaks were revealed and caused by sulphate from coal combustion, vehicle exhaust emissions and secondary reactions. Furthermore, mathematical algorithms, such as the BPANN and SVM, can process the THz absorbance data and greatly improve the precision of the estimation of PM2.5 mass. Our results suggest that THz spectroscopy can not only reveal the component information for pollution source determination, but quantitatively monitor the PM2.5 content for pollution level evaluation.
