1Reaction mechanism and metal ion transformation in photocatalytic ozonation of phenol and oxalic acid with Ag^+/TiO_2显示文摘Photocatalytic ozonation of phenol and oxalic acid(OA) was conducted with a Ag+/TiO2 catalyst and different pathways were found for the degradation of different compounds. Ag+ greatly promoted the photocatalytic degradation of contaminants due to its role as an electron scavenger. It also accelerated the removal rate of OA in ozonation and the simultaneous process for its complex reaction with oxalate. Phenol could be degraded both in direct ozonation and photolysis, but the TOC removal rates were much higher in the simultaneous processes due to the oxidation of hydroxyl radicals resulting from synergetic effects. The sequence of photo-illumination and ozone exposure in the combined process showed quite different effects in phenol degradation and TOC removal. The synergetic effects in different combined processes were found to be highly related to the properties of the target pollutants. The color change of the solution and TEM result confirmed that Ag+ was easily reduced and deposited on the surface of TiO2 under photo-illumination, and dissolved again into solution in the presence of ozone. This simple cycle of enrichment and distribution of Ag+ can greatly benefit the design of advanced oxidation processes, in which the sequences of ozone and photo-illumination can be varied according to the needs for catalyst recycling and the different properties of pollutants.Yingying Chen Yongbing Xie Jun Yang Hongbin Cao Yi Zhang 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,3:5
2Thermodynamic prediction of thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity in Mg–Zn–La/Ce system显示文摘Basic thermal properties and mechanical properties are critical parameters for the structural magnesium alloys.Solute atoms and second phases can improve mechanical properties,but are deteriorating the heat dissipation performance.Through experimental determination of alloys,it is found that REMg12 phases have fewer negative impacts on thermal diffusivities thanτ;phases.With the same intermetallic compound,the solute atom Zn have more negative influences on thermal diffusivities of Mg-Zn-La/Ce alloys than the content of second phases.In order to quantitatively evaluate thermal conductivities and further design Mg alloys with both high strength and high thermal conductivity,a calculated method is provided to describe the thermal diffusivity of alloys as a function of alloy composition and phase constitution.A set of parameters for expression of thermal diffusivity of Mg-Zn-La/Ce alloys were obtained through assessing the experimental data.The thermal conductivities of Mg-Zn-La/Ce system were predicted and agreed well with experimental values with calculation error of 1.6%and standard error of±3.0 W/(m K).The calculation method considering thermal diffusivity resistivity improves the calculation accuracy and would be physically significant.Tianci Xie Hui Shi Hongbin Wang Qun Luo Qian Li Kuo-Chih Chou 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,2:5
3Activated carbon enhanced ozonation of oxalate attributed to HO·oxidation in bulk solution and surface oxidation: Effect of activated carbon dosage and pH显示文摘Ozonation of oxalate in aqueous phase was performed with a commercial activated carbon(AC)in this work. The effect of AC dosage and solution pH on the contribution of hydroxyl radicals(HOU) in bulk solution and oxidation on the AC surface to the removal of oxalate was studied. We found that the removal of oxalate was reduced by tert-butyl alcohol(tBA) with low dosages of AC,while it was hardly affected by tBA when the AC dosage was greater than 0.3 g/L. tBA also inhibited ozone decomposition when the AC dosage was no more than 0.05 g/L, but it did not work when the AC dosage was no less than 0.1 g/L. These observations indicate that HOUin bulk solution and oxidation on the AC surface both contribute to the removal of oxalate. HOU oxidation in bulk solution is significant when the dosage of AC is low, whereas surface oxidation is dominant when the dosage of AC is high. The oxalate removal decreased with increasing pH of the solution with an AC dosage of 0.5 g/L. The degradation of oxalate occurs mainly through surface oxidation in acid and neutral solution, but through HOUoxidation in basic bulk solution. 4Dendritic BiVO4 decorated with MnOx co-catalyst as an efficient hierarchical catalyst for photocatalytic ozonation显示文摘An appropriate co-catalyst can significantly promote the photocatalytic efficacy, but this has been seldom studied in the visible-light photocatalysis combined with ozone, namely photocatalytic ozonation. In this work, a dendritic bismuth vanadium tetraoxide (BiVO4) material composited with highly dispersed MnOv nanoparticles was synthesized, and its catalytic activity is 86.6% higher than bare BiVO4 in a visible light and ozone combined process. Catalytic ozonation experiments, ultraviolet- visible (UV-Vis) diffuse reflectance spectra and photoluminescence spectra jointly indicate that MnOA plays a triple role in this process. MnOv strengthens the light adsorption and promotes the charge separation on the composite material, and it also shows good activity in catalytic ozonation. The key reactive species in this process is OH, and various pathways for its generation in this process is proposed. 5Double layered,one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of M-TiO_2(M=Fe^(3+),Ni^(2+),Cu^(2+)and Co^(2+)) and their application in photocatalysis显示文摘A double layered,one-pot hydrothermal method was adopted in this work to prepare transition metal ions(Fe3+,Ni2+,Cu2+and Co2+)doped TiO2.The morphology and chemical properties of TiO2and the status of metal ions were characterized with XRD,TEM,BET,UV-Vis and XPS analysis.TEM images show that the obtained TiO2was very uniform with an average particle size of 10.4 nm.XPS,TEM and XRD results show that transitional metals were doped onto TiO2in the form of ions.Photocatalytic decomposition of oxalic acid under UV illumination and methylene blue degradation under visible light on these materials were conducted,respectively.The results reveal that Cu2+-TiO2and Co2+-TiO2showed a highest activity under UV and visible light illumination,respectively,and they were both more active than commercial P25 TiO2.With this special design of double layers,the hydrolysis of titanium precursor in the system with water can be easily controlled and metal ions are simply doped.This strategy can be further applied to synthesize metal ion doped TiO2using various metal precursors with controllable amounts,and thus lead to better optimization of highly active photocatalyst.CHEN YingYing XIE YongBing YANG Jun CAO HongBin LIU Hui ZHANG Yi 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,12:4
6Toward rational design of amines for CO_2 capture: Substituent effect on kinetic process for the reaction of monoethanolamine with CO_2显示文摘Amines have been considered as promising candidates for post-combustion CO2 capture. A mechanistic understanding for the chemical processes involved in the capture and release of CO2 is important for the rational design of amines. In this study, the structural effects of amines on the kinetic competition among three typical products(carbamates, carbamic acids and bicarbonate) from amines + CO2 were investigated, in contrast to previous thermodynamic studies to tune the reaction of amines with CO2 based on desirable reaction enthalpy and reaction stoichiometry. We used a quantum chemical method to calculate the activation energies(Ea) for the reactions of a range of substituted monoethanolamines with CO2 covering three pathways to the three products. The results indicate that the formation of carbamates is the most favorable, among the three considered products. In addition, we found that the Eavalues for all pathways linearly correlate with pK aof amines, and more importantly, the kinetic competition between carbamate and bicarbonate absorption pathways varies with p Kaof the amines, i.e. stronger basicity results in less difference in Ea. 7Cross-lenticular lens array for full parallax 3-D display with crosstalk reduction显示文摘As a 3-D display technology,stereoscopic imaging with lenticular lens sheet can only offer viewers the horizontal parallax.To reconstruct the 3-D image with parallax in both horizontal and vertical directions,the full parallax technique with micro-lens array was proposed.But due to the fabrication constraints and cost concerns of the micro-lens array,application of the full parallax technique is restricted in practice.In this paper we revisited the lenticular sheet method and cross-lenticular lens array formed by two lenticular sheets overlapped orthogonally.By analyzing the optical properties of this cross-lenticular lens array,we found that it has reasonable imaging qualities as a conventional micro-lens array.Besides,due to the poor optical property of the outskirt area of the cross-lenticular lens,the cross-lenticular lens array has better crosstalk suppression capability than the conventional one.Based on the analysis,in this paper,we used the proposed lens array to reconstruct a 3-D image and verified its practicability.The cross-lenticular lens array was found feasible to take the full parallax technique into commercial applications,with comparable advantages in terms of low-cost and easy fabrication over a large area.XIE HongBin ZHAO Xing YANG Yong BU Jing FANG ZhiLiang YUAN XiaoCong 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,3:3
8Excellent thermal shock resistance of NiCrAlY coatings on copper substrate via laser cladding显示文摘Coatings are widely used to protect substrates in extreme thermal environments(e.g., arc heaters), and thermal shock resistance is a crucial parameter for the coatings, which requires tight interlayer bonding between coatings and substrates. In this work, Ni Cr Al Y coatings were highly required for the pure copper substrate to restrict the electric arc in arc heaters. To overcome the bonding difculty of coating on the copper surface, the Ni Cr Al Y coatings were prepared by two laser cladding methods: conventional laser cladding(CLC) and high-speed laser cladding(HSLC). The microstructure, composition, and thermal shock resistance of Ni Cr Al Y cladding layers prepared by both methods were investigated. Benefitting from the high cooling rate and high energy density, the HSLC-layer has better composition uniformity and tighter interlayer bonding than the CLC-layer, achieving a 30%–45% improvement in thermal cycling lifetime. Besides, the Ni Cr Al Y layers prepared on copper substrate by both laser cladding methods exhibit3–10 times better thermal shock resistance than those Ni Cr Al Y layers prepared by conventional spraying methods. It further confirms the great effects of metallurgical bonding and composition uniformity on the thermal shock resistance of coatings. 9Distinct synergetic effects in the ozone enhanced photocatalytic degradation of phenol and oxalic acid with Fe^(3+)/TiO_2 catalyst显示文摘In this work, phenol and oxalic acid(OA) degradation in an ozone and photocatalysis integrated process was intensively conducted with Fe^(3+)/TiO_2 catalyst. The ferrioxalate complex formed between Fe^(3+) and oxalate accelerated the removal of OA in the ozonation, photolysis and photocatalytic ozonation process, for its high reactivity with ozone and UV. Phenol was degraded in ozonation and photolysis with limited TOC removal rates, but much higher TOC removal was achieved in photocatalytic ozonation due to the generation of ·OH. The sequence of UV light and ozone in the sequential process also influences the TOC removal, and ozone is very powerful to oxidize intermediates catechol and hydroquinone to maleic acid. Fenton or photo-Fenton reactions only played a small part in Fe^(3+)/TiO_2catalyzed processes, because Fe^(3+) was greatly reduced but not regenerated in many cases.The synergetic effect was found to be highly related with the property of the target pollutants. 12Effects of ethanol extracts of scorpion on hippocampal apoptosis and caspase-3 expression in lithium chloride-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have demonstrated that scorpion venom in the scorpion can inhibit epilepsy and apoptosis.However,it remains unclear whether ethanol extracts of scorpion (EES) exhibit similar effects.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of EES on hippocampal apoptosis and caspase-3 expression,and to compare the effects on sodium valproate (positive control drug) in a rat model of status epilepticus induced by lithium chloride-pilocarpine.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: This randomized,controlled study was conducted at the Drug Research and Development Center,Kanghong Pharmaceuticals Group,and the Department of Pathology,Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences & Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital,China from May 2007 to April 2008.MATERIALS: EES were prepared by Huashen Pharmaceutical,China.Sodium valproate (Hunan Xiangzhong Pharmaceutical,China) and lithium chloride-pilocarpine (Sigma,USA) were also used in the present study.METHODS: From a total of 156 rats,six served as normal controls.The remaining rats were intraperitoneally injected with lithium chloride-pilocarpine to establish status epilepticus models,and then assigned to five groups (n = 30,respectively).Animals in each group were administered drugs at 15 minutes after epileptic seizure by gavage.i.e.in the normal control and model groups,rats were treated with 1 mL/0.1 kg saline.The sodium valproate group was administered 120 mg/kg/d sodium valproate.The low-,moderate-,and high-dose EES groups received treatments of 290,580,and 1 160 mg/kg/d EES.The dispensed concentration was 1 mL/0.1 kg.Rat seizure behavior was observed.If status epilepticus did not terminated after 1 hour,the rats were intraperitoneally administered atropine (1 mg/kg) and diazepam (10 mg/kg) to terminate seizure.These rats were continuously observed for 6 hours to ensure seizure termination.Then rats were treated with the above-mentioned drugs at 8: 00 am each day until sacrifice,which took place 4 hours after drug administration.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Terminal dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL)-positive cells and caspase-3 expression were,respectively,determined by TUNEL and immunohistochemistry at 6,24,48,and 72 hours,as well as 7 days,after status epilepticus.Behavioral changes were also measured.RESULTS: A few caspase-3-positive cells were observed.TUNEL-and caspase-3-positive cells were mainly visible in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions 6 hours following status epilepticus in the model and drug intervention groups.The number of TUNEL-positive cells reached a peak at 48 hours following status epilepticus in the sodium valproate group,as well as the moderate-and high-dose EES groups,and number of TUNEL-positive cells reached a peak at 72 hours in the model and low-dose EES groups.The number of caspase-3-positive cells reached a peak at 48 hours in each group.Following treatment of sodium valproate and EES,the number of TUNEL-and caspase-3-positive cells significantly decreased compared with the model group at various time points (P < 0.05).The number of TUNEL-and caspase-3-positive cells was greatest in the low-dose EES group,followed by the moderate-and high-dose EES groups.The number of TUNEL-and caspase-3-positive cells was similar between the sodium valproate and high-dose EES groups.Epileptic seizure was significantly improved in the sodium valproate group,as well as the moderate-and high-dose EES groups,compared with the model group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).Treatment with sodium valproate and high-dose EES resulted in the best outcome,although the results were similar (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: A dose of 1 160 mg/kg/d EES significantly inhibited status epilepticus.This outcome corresponded to a decreased number of apoptotic cells and caspase-3-positive cells,which was similar to sodium valproate.These results suggest that it is not necessary to extract a component from the scorpion for the treatment of epilepsy.The high dose of EES significantly inhibited epilepsy,which correlated with decreased hippocampal caspase-3 expression.Liang Yu Hongbin Sun Yi Liang Yan Xie Baoming He Fei Xu 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,2:2
13Scorpion ethanol extract and valproic acid effects on hippocampal glial fibrillary acidic protein expression in a rat model of chronic-kindling epilepsy induced by lithium chloride-pilocarpine显示文摘The present study analyzed the effects of ethanol extracts of scorpion on epilepsy prevention and hippocampal expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein in a lithium chloride-pilocarpine epileptic rat model. Results were subsequently compared with valproic acid. Results showed gradually- increased hippocampal glial fibrillary acidic protein expression following model establishment; glial fibrillary acidic protein mRNA expression was significantly increased at 3 days, reached a peak at 7 days, and then gradually decreased thereafter. Ethanol extracts of scorpion doses of 580 and 1 160 mg/kg, as well as 120 mg/kg valproic acid, led to a decreased number of glial fibrillary acidic protein-positive cells and glial fibrillary acidic protein mRNA expression, as well as decreased seizure grades and frequency of spontaneously recurrent seizures. The effects of 1 160 mg/kg ethanol extracts of scorpion were equal to those of 120 mg/kg valproic acid. 14The bacterial abundance and production in the East China Sea: seasonal variations and relationships with the phytoplankton biomass and production显示文摘The East China Sea is a productive marginal sea with a wide continental shelf and plays an important role in absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide and transferring terrigenous organic matter to the open ocean. To investigate the roles of heterotrophic bacteria in the biogeochemical dynamics in the East China Sea, bacterial biomasses(BB) and productions(BP) were measured in four cruises. The spatial distributions of the BB and the BP were highly season-dependent. Affected by the Changjiang River discharge, the BB and the BP were high in shelf waters(bottom depth not deeper than 50 m) and generally decreased offshore in August 2009. In December 2009 to January 2010, and November to December 2010, the BB and the BP were high in waters with medium bottom depth. The onshore-offshore decreasing trends of the BB and the BP also existed in May–June 2011, when the BB was significantly higher than in other cruises in shelf break waters(bottom depth deeper than 50 m but not deeper than 200 m). The results of generalized additive models(GAM) suggest that the BB increased with the temperature at a range of 8-20°C, increased with the chlorophyll concentration at a range of 0.02–3.00 mg/m3 and then declining, and decreased with the salinity from 28 to 35. The relationship between the temperature and the log-transformed bacterial specific growth rate(SGR) was linear. The estimated temperature coefficient(Q10) of the SGR was similar with that of the phytoplankton growth. The SGR also increased with the chlorophyll concentration. The ratio of the bacterial to phytoplankton production ranged from less than 0.01 to 0.40, being significantly higher in November–December 2010 than in May–June 2011. 15Cyclical helping hands: seasonal tailwinds differentially affect migrating Oriental Storks (Ciconia boyciana) travel speed显示文摘Background:The Oriental Stork(Ciconia boyciana)breeds in southeastern Siberia and parts of northeast China,and winters mainly in southeast China.Although the autumn migration pattern of Oriental Storks has been previ-ously described,differences between spring and autumn migration travel speed in relation to wind assistance were unknown.Methods:Using GPS/GSM transmitters,we tracked the full migrations of 18 Oriental Storks during 2015-2018 to compare differences in autumn and spring migration patterns,and combined the satellite telemetry data with the National Center for Environmental Prediction Reanalysis data to explain the relationship between 850 mbar wind vec-tors and seasonal differences in travel speed.Results:Differences in tailwinds contributed to significant differences in daily average Oriental Storks travel speed in spring(258.11±64.8 km/day)compared to autumn(172.23±49.7 km/day,p<0.001).Storks stopped significantly more often in autumn than spring(1.78±1.1 versus 1.06±0.9,p<0.05),but stopover duration(15.52±12.4 versus 16.30±15.1 days,respectively,p=0.3)did not differ significantly.Tailwinds at 850 mbar pressure level(extracted from the National Center of Environmental Prediction Reanalysis data archive)significantly affected daily flying speed dur-ing spring and autumn migration.Tailwind conditions in spring(mean 4.40±5.6 m/s)were always more favourable than in autumn when they received no net benefit(0.48±5.6 m/s,p<0.001).Despite mean spring migration dura-tion being less than autumn(27.52±15.9 versus 32.77±13.4 days,p=0.17),large individual variation meant that this duration did not differ significantly from each other.Conclusions:For long distance migratory soaring birds(such as storks),relative duration of spring and autumn migration likely relates to the interaction between imperative for earliest arrival to breeding grounds and seasonal meteorological conditions experienced en route.Shujuan Fan Qingshan Zhao Hongbin Li Baoguang Zhu Shubin Dong Yanbo Xie Lei Cao Anthony David Fox 2020Avian Research2020,11,2:2

18Coagulation behaviors and in-situ flocs characteristics of composite coagulants in cyanide-containing wastewater:Role of cationic polyelectrolyte显示文摘In this paper,composite coagulants(PFS,PFSC05,PFSC1 and PFSC5),prepared by mixing polyferric sulfate(PFS)and cationic polyelectrolyte(CP)coagulants with different weight percent(Wp)of CP(Wp=0%,0.5%,1%and 5%,respectively),were adopted to treat cyanide-containing wastewater.PFSC5 exhibited superior coagulation performances at optimal conditions:the removal of total cyanide(TCN)and chemical oxygen demand(COD)was 95%–97%and 50%–55%,respectively.The effects of CP on the properties and structure of flocs were investigated by laser diffraction instrument and small-angle laser light scattering(SALLS),respectively.The results show that the flocs of PFSC5 have higher growth rate,higher strength factor and lower recovery factor than other flocs.They are also much denser and more uniform owing to the higher fractal dimension(Df)and less microflocs(10–100 m).Furthermore,the dense structure of the PFSC5 flocs can be restored after shear and is more resistant to hydraulic conditions.Particularly,detailed morphology evolution of the flocs was in-situ detected by on-line particle imaging.Due to strong ionic strength in wastewater,the CP in PFSC5 plays a significant role of adsorption,while the main mechanism of CP is electrostatic patch aggregation during the PFSC05 systems.SHEN Jian ZHAO He XIE YongBing CAO HongBin ZHANG Yi 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,12:1
