1Influence of the quickness and duration of De Qi on the analgesic effect of acupuncture in primary dysmenorrhea patients with a cold and dampness stagnation pattern显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of the quickness and duration of De Qi(or Qi arrival) on the analgesic effect of acupuncture in primary dysmenorrhea patients with a cold and dampness stagnation pattern.METHODS: Sixty-eight patients were randomly assigned to the De Qi group(deep needling with thick needles and manipulation, n = 17) or the non-De Qi group(shallow needling with thin needles and no manipulation, n = 51). Both groups underwent needling at Sanyinjiao(SP 6) for 30 min.The visual analogue scale was used to measure the degree of menstrual pain, and the Acupuncture De Qi Clinical Assessment Scale was used to assess De Qi. Only data from patients who experienced actual De Qi were included in the analysis.RESULTS: Thirty-nine patients experienced actual De Qi. Patients who experienced actual De Qi in the De Qi group(n = 14) felt De Qi more rapidly(P =0.028) and for a longer duration(P = 0.04) than patients who experienced actual De Qi in the non-De Qi group(n = 25). Both groups showed a reduction in the visual analogue scale score for pain after treatment. The analgesic effect did not significantly differ between the two groups. The occurrence time of De Qi showed a significant negative correlation with pain reduction at 20 and 30 min after needle removal(P < 0.05). There was no correlation between the duration of De Qi and the therapeutic effect.CONCLUSION: In primary dysmenorrhea patients with a cold and dampness stagnation pattern,quicker onset of De Qi when needling Sanyinjiao(SP 6) achieves a better analgesic outcome. However, a longer duration of De Qi does not affect the degree of analgesia. 2Graph neural networks for an accurate and interpretable prediction of the properties of polycrystalline materials显示文摘Various machine learning models have been used to predict the properties of polycrystalline materials,but none of them directly consider the physical interactions among neighboring grains despite such microscopic interactions critically determining macroscopic material properties.Here,we develop a graph neural network(GNN)model for obtaining an embedding of polycrystalline microstructure which incorporates not only the physical features of individual grains but also their interactions.The embedding is then linked to the target property using a feed-forward neural network.Using the magnetostriction of polycrystalline Tb_(0.3)Dy_(0.7)Fe_(2) alloys as an example,we show that a single GNN model with fixed network architecture and hyperparameters allows for a low prediction error of~10%over a group of remarkably different microstructures as well as quantifying the importance of each feature in each grain of a microstructure to its magnetostriction.Such a microstructure-graph-based GNN model,therefore,enables an accurate and interpretable prediction of the properties of polycrystalline materials.Minyi Dai Mehmet F.Demirel Yingyu Liang Jia-Mian Hu 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:3
3A humidity resistant and high performance triboelectric nanogenerator enabled by vortex-induced vibration for scavenging wind energy显示文摘Wind energy is a promising renewable energy source for a low-carbon society.This study is to develop a fully packaged vortexinduced vibration triboelectric nanogenerator(VIV-TENG)for scavenging wind energy.The VIV-TENG consists of a wind vane,internal power generation unit,an external frame,four springs,a square cylinder and a circular turntable.The internal power generation unit consists of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)balls,a honeycomb frame and two copper electrodes.Different from most of the previous wind energy harvesting TENGs,the bouncing PTFE balls are fully packaged in the square cylinder.The distinct design separates the process of contact electrification from the external environment,and at the same time avoids the frictional wear of the ordinary wind energy harvesting TENGs.The corresponding VIV parameters are investigated to evaluate their influence on the vibration behaviors and the energy output.Resonant state of the VIV-TENG corresponds to the high output performance from the VIV-TENG.The distinct,robust structure ensures the full-packaged VIV-TENG can harvest wind energy from arbitrary directions and even in undesirable weather conditions.The study proposes a novel TENG configuration for harvesting wind energy and the VIV-TENG proves promising powering micro-electro-mechanical appliances.Yan Wang Tianyu Chen Shuowen Sun Xiangyu Liu Zhiyuan Hu Zhenhui Lian Long Liu Qiongfeng Shi Hao Wang Jianchun Mi Tongming Zhou Chengkuo Lee Minyi Xu 2022Nano Research2022,15,4:2
4Dynamic Fluid Flow Mechanical Stimulation Modulates Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells显示文摘Osteoblasts are derived from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),which initiate and regulate bone formation.New strategies for osteoporosis treatments have aimed to control the fate of MSCs.While functional disuse decreases MSC growth and osteogenic potentials,mechanical signals enhance MSC quantity and bias their differentiation toward osteoblastogenesis.Through a non-invasive dynamic hydraulic stimulation(DHS),we have found that DHS can mitigate trabecular bone loss in a functional disuse model via rat hindlimb suspension(HLS).To further elucidate the downstream cellular effect of DHS and its potential mechanism underlying the bone quality enhancement,a longitudinal in vivo study was designed to evaluate the MSC populations in response to DHS over 3,7,14,and 21 days.Five-month old female Sprague Dawley rats were divided into three groups for each time point:age-matched control,HLS,and HLS+DHS.DHS was delivered to the right mid-tibiae with a daily '10 min on-5 min off-10 min on' loading regime for five days/week.At each sacrifice time point,bone marrow MSCs of the stimulated and control tibiae were isolated through specific cell surface markers and quantified by flow cytometry analysis.A strong time-dependent manner of bone marrow MSC induction was observed in response to DHS,which peaked on day 14.After 21 days,this effect of DHS was diminished.This study indicates that the MSC pool is positively influenced by the mechanical signals driven by DHS.Coinciding with our previous findings of mitigation of disuse bone loss,DHS induced changes in MSC number may bias the differentiation of the MSC population towards osteoblastogenesis,thereby promoting bone formation under disuse conditions.This study provides insights into the mechanism of time-sensitive MSC induction in response to mechanical loading,and for the optimal design of osteoporosis treatments.Minyi Hu RobbinYeh Michelle Lien Morgan Teeratananon KunalAgarwal Yi-Xian Qin 2013Bone Research2013,1,1:1

7Immediate analgesic effect of needling acupoints(bilateral De Qi vs unilateral De Qi)on primary dysmenorrhea:a multi-center,randomized,controlled trail显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of needling acupoints(bilateral vs unilateral) with De Qi using data collected from 501 primary dysmenorrhea(PD) patients participating in multi-center, randomized,controlled trail.METHODS: De Qi was defined as at least one of the feelings in soreness, numbness, fullness or heaviness at the acupoints when stimulated with needles. The 501 patients were grouped in 3 groups in terms of De Qi or not De Qi in one side(unilateral)or both sides(bilateral) of the body: bilateral De Qi group, unilateral De Qi group, and non-De Qi group. The abdominal pains were measured using visual analog scale(VAS).RESULTS: In 501 patients, 472 acquired De Qi at unilateral acupoints, 24 De Qi at bilateral acupoint,and 5 had no De Qi at any acupoint. The data of non-De Qi group was excluded as the sample was less than 5% of that in the bilateral De Qi group.There was significant difference in the VAS before and after treatment between unilateral and bilateral De Qi group(P < 0.01). After stratified by acupoints, for the patients needled at Sanyinjiao(SP 6)and Xuanzhong(GB 39), VAS scores in the bilateral De Qi group were larger than those in the unilateral De Qi group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Bilateral De Qi was possibly superior to unilateral De Qi in enhancing the immediate analgesic effect of needling the acupoints, but no statistical significance was observed on the pa-tients of needling at non acupoint, which preliminarily suggested this immediate analgesic effect was perhaps along meridians.Wang Pei Zhang Peng Ma Liangxiao Yuan Hongwen Liu Yuqi Chi Lin Xin Siyuan Hu Nijuan Zhao Minyi Zhu Jiang 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,6:0

9Field-free spin-orbit torque perpendicular magnetization switching in ultrathin nanostructures显示文摘Magnetic-field-free current-controlled switching of perpendicular magnetization via spin-orbit torque(SOT)is necessary for developing a fast,long data retention,and high-density SOT magnetoresistive random access memory(MRAM).Here,we use both micromagnetic simulations and atomistic spin dynamics(ASD)simulations to demonstrate an approach to field-free SOT perpendicular magnetization switching without requiring any changes in the architecture of a standard SOT-MRAM cell.We show that this field-free switching is enabled by a synergistic effect of lateral geometrical confinement,interfacial Dyzaloshinskii–Moriya interaction(DMI),and current-induced SOT.Both micromagnetic and atomistic understanding of the nucleation and growth kinetics of the reversed domain are established.Notably,atomically resolved spin dynamics at the early stage of nucleation is revealed using ASD simulations.A machine learning model is trained based on~1000 groups of benchmarked micromagnetic simulation data.This machine learning model can be used to rapidly and accurately identify the nanomagnet size,interfacial DMI strength,and the magnitude of current density required for the field-free switching.Minyi Dai Jia-Mian Hu 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:0
10External rectal prolapse:abdominal or perineal repair for men?A retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:External rectal prolapse is a relatively rare disease,in which male patients account for a minority.The selection of abdominal repair or perineal repair for male patients has rarely been investigated.Methods:Fifty-one male patients receiving abdominal repair(laparoscopic ventral rectopexy)or perineal repair(Delorme or Altemeier procedures)at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China)between March 2013 and September 2019 were retrospectively analysed.We compared the recurrence,complication rate,post-operative defecation disorder,length of stay,and quality of life between the abdominal and perineal groups.Results:Of the 51 patients,45 had a complete follow-up,with a median of 48.5 months(range,22.8–101.8 months).A total of 35 patients were under age 40 years.The complication rate associated with abdominal repair was less than that associated with perineal repair(0%vs 20.7%,P=0.031)and the recurrence rate was also lower(9.5%vs 41.7%,P=0.018).Multivariate analysis showed that perineal repair(odds ratio,9.827;95%confidence interval,1.296–74.50;P=0.027)might be a risk factor for recurrence.Moreover,only perineal repair significantly improved post-operative constipation status(preoperative vs post-operative,72.4%vs 25.0%,P=0.001).There was no reported mortality in either of the groups.No patient’s sexual function was affected by the surgery.Conclusions:Both surgical approaches were safe in men.Compared with perineal repair,the complication rate and recurrence rate for abdominal repair were lower.However,perineal repair was better able to correct constipation.Bang Hu Qi Zou Zhenyu Xian Dan Su Chao Liu Li Lu Minyi Luo Zixu Chen Keyu Cai Han Gao Hui Peng Wuteng Cao Donglin Ren 2022Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1:0

12Flexible capacitive pressure sensor based on interdigital electrodes with porous microneedle arrays for physiological signal monitoring显示文摘Flexible pressure sensors have many potential applications in the monitoring of physiological signals because of their good biocompatibil-ity and wearability.However,their relatively low sensitivity,linearity,and stability have hindered their large-scale commercial application.Herein,aflexible capacitive pressure sensor based on an interdigital electrode structure with two porous microneedle arrays(MNAs)is pro-posed.The porous substrate that constitutes the MNA is a mixed product of polydimethylsiloxane and NaHCO3.Due to its porous and interdigital structure,the maximum sensitivity(0.07 kPa-1)of a porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to be seven times higher than that of an imporous MNA pressure sensor,and it was much greater than that of aflat pressure sensor without a porous MNA structure.Finite-element analysis showed that the interdigital MNA structure can greatly increase the strain and improve the sensitivity of the sen-sor.In addition,the porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to have good stability over 1500 loading cycles as a result of its bilayer parylene-enhanced conductive electrode structure.Most importantly,it was found that the sensor could accurately monitor the motion of afinger,wrist joint,arm,face,abdomen,eye,and Adam’s apple.Furthermore,preliminary semantic recognition was achieved by monitoring the movement of the Adam’s apple.Finally,multiple pressure sensors were integrated into a 33 array to detect a spatial pressure distribu-×tion.Compared to the sensors reported in previous works,the interdigital electrode structure presented in this work improves sensitivity and stability by modifying the electrode layer rather than the dielectric layer.Jiahui Xu Minghao Wang Minyi Jin Siyan Shang Chuner Ni Yili Hu Xun Sun Jun Xu Bowen Ji Le Li Yuhua Cheng Gaofeng Wang 2024Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering2024,7,1:0
13Cl^- induced synthesis of submicron cubic copper particles in solution显示文摘Submicron copper microcrystal was synthesized by reducing Cu2O with hydrazine hydrate as reducer in aqueous solution,and was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The shapes of copper microcrystal de pend on additives. Cubic copper particles were observed when the inorganic salt containing Cl-,such as NH4Cl,NaCl,or KCl,was added into the reaction system. By combined use of NH4Cl and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP),the proportion of cubic copper particle number exceeded 90%,and the particle size is 0.1-0.5μrn. While other inorganic salt without C1-,such as Na2SO4 or (NH4)2SO4,had little effect on the shapes of the copper particles. The growth mechanism of metallic copper crystal in aqueous solution was ana lyzed.
