High-performance Li-ion batteries based on graphene quantum dot wrapped carbon nanotube hybrid anodes显示文摘Since Akira Yoshino first proposed the usage of the carbonaceous materials as an anode of lithium ion batteries(LIBs)in 1985,carbonaceous materials such as graphite and graphene have been widely considered as LIB anodes. Here,we explored the application of novel carbonaceous UB anodes incorporating graphene quantum dots(GQDs).We fabricated a freestanding all-carbon electrode based on a porous carbon nanotube(CNT)sponge via a facile in-situ hydrothermal deposition technique, creating coaxial structure of GQD-coated CNTs(GQD@CNTs)through electrostatic interaction and n-n stacking with tunable loading and functionalization. This hybrid structure combined conductive CNTs with highly active GQDs,in which GQDs with predesigned functional groups provided massive storage sites for Li ions and the 3D CNT frameworks avoided the agglomeration of GQDs,together contributing to a high specific capacity(700 mAh·g^-1 at 100 mA·g^-1 after 100 cycles)and rate performance.Even at a high current density of 1,000 mA·g^-1,the reversible specific capacity remained at 483 mAh g-1 after 350 cycles. In particular, the mechanism study demonstrated the important role of oxygen functional groups of GQDs in promoting the performance of the LIB anodes by controlled grafting of GQDs onto various porous-carbon and metal-foam based structures. | Xuewei Zhao Yizeng Wu Yunsong Wang Huaisheng Wu Yawei Yang Zhipeng Wang Linxiu Dai Yuanyuan Shang Anyuan Cao | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,4: | 7
Estimation of the three-dimensional in situ stress field around a large deep underground cavern group near a valley显示文摘Understanding three-dimensional(3D)in situ stress field is of key importance for estimating the stability of large deep underground cavern groups near valleys. However, the complete 3D in situ stress fields around large deep underground cavern groups are difficult to determine based on in situ stress data from a limited number of measuring points due to the insufficient representativeness and unreliability of such measurements. In this study,an integrated approach for estimating the 3D in situ stress field around a large deep underground cavern group near a valley is developed based on incomplete in situ stress measurements and the stress-induced failures of tunnels excavated prior to the step excavation of the cavern group. This integrated approach is implemented via four interrelated and progressive basic steps,i.e.inference of the regional tectonic stress field direction, analyses of in situ stress characteristics and measurement reliability,regression-based in situ stress field analysis and reliability assessment, and modified in situ stress field analysis and reliability verification. The orientations and magnitudes of the 3D in situ stress field can be analyzed and obtained at a strategic level following these four basic steps.First, the tectonic stress field direction around the cavern group is deduced in accordance with the regional tectonic framework and verified using a regional crustal deformation velocity map.Second, the reliability of the in situ stress measurements is verified based on the locations and depths of stressinduced brittle failures in small tunnels(such as exploratory tunnels and pilot tunnels)within the excavation range of the cavern group.Third, considering the influences of the valley topography and major geological structures, the 3D in situ stress field is regressed using numerical simulation and multiple linear regression techniques based on the in situ stress measurements. Finally, the regressed in situ stress field is further modified and reverified based on the stress-induced brittle failures of small tunnels and the initial excavation of the cavern group.A case study of the Shuangjiangkou underground cavern group demonstrates that the proposed approach is reliable for estimating the 3D in situ stress fields of large deep underground cavern groups near valleys, thus contributing to the optimization of practical excavation and design of mitigating the instability of the surrounding rock masses during step excavations. | Dingping Xu Xiang Huang Quan Jiang Shaojun Li Hong Zheng Shili Qiu Huaisheng Xu Yonghong Li Zhiguo Li Xingdong Ma | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,3: | 6
Boron modulating electronic structure of FeN4C to initiate high-efficiency oxygen reduction reaction and high-performance zinc-air battery显示文摘The biggest challenge is to develop a low cost and readily available catalyst to replace expensive commercial Pt/C for efficient electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).In this research,closo-[B_(12)H_(12)]^(2−)and 1,10-phenanthroline-iron complexes were introduced into the porous metal-organic framework by impregnation method, and further annealing treatment achieved the successful anchoring of single-atom-Fe in B-doped CN Matrix(FeN4CB).The ORR activity of FeN4CB is comparable to the widely used commercial 20 wt%Pt/C.Where the half-wave potential(E_(1/2))in alkaline medium up to 0.84 V,and even in the face of challenging ORR in acidic medium, the E_(1/2)of ORR driven by FeN4CB is still as high as 0.81 V.When FeN4CB was used as air cathode, the open circuit voltage of Zn-air battery reaches 1.435 V,and the power density and specific capacity are as high as 177 mW cm^(−2)and 800 mAh g_(Zn)^(−1)(theoretical value:820 mAh g_(Zn)^(−1)),respectively.The dazzling point of FeN4CB also appears in the high ORR stability, whether in alkaline or acidic media,E_(1/2)and limiting current density are still close to the initial value after 5000 times cycles. After continuously running the charge-discharge test for 220 h,the charge voltage and discharge voltage of the rechargeable zinc-air battery with FeN4CB as the air cathode maintained the initial state.Density functional theory calculations reveals that introducing B atom to Fe–N4–C can adjust the electronic structure to easily break O=O bond and significantly reduce the energy barrier of the rate-determining step resulting in an improved ORR activity. | Xue Zhao Xue Li Zenghui Bi Yuwen Wang Haibo Zhang Xiaohai Zhou Quan Wang Yingtang Zhou Huaisheng Wang Guangzhi Hu | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,3: | 6
Defect engineering on carbon black for accelerated Li-S chemistry显示文摘Rationally designing sulfur hosts with the functions of confining lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)and promoting sulfur reaction kinetics is critically important to the real implementation of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries.Herein,the defect-rich carbon black(CB)as sulfur host was successfully constructed through a rationally regulated defect engineering.Thus-obtained defect-rich CB can act as an active electrocatalyst to enable the sulfur redox reaction kinetics, which could be regarded as effective inhibitor to alleviate the LiPS shuttle. As expected, the cathode consisting of sulfur and defect-rich CB presents a high rate capacity of 783.8 mA·h·g^−1 at 4 C and a low capacity decay of only 0.07% per cycle at 2 C over 500 cycles, showing favorable electrochemical performances. The strategy in this investigation paves a promising way to the design of active electrocatalysts for realizing commercially viable Li-S batteries. | Wenlong Cai Yingze Song Yuting Fang Weiwei Wang Songlin Yu Huaisheng Ao Yongchun Zhu Yitai Qian | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,12: | 5
Single-cell RNA sequencing of meiocytes and microspores reveals the involvement of the Rf4 gene in redox homeostasis of CMS-C maize显示文摘Normal microsporogenesis is determined by both nuclear and mitochondrial genes. In maize C-type cytoplasmic male sterility, it is unclear how the development of meiocytes and microspores is affected by the mitochondrial sterility gene and the nuclear restorer gene. In this study, we sequenced the transcriptomes of single meiocytes(tetrad stage) and early mononucleate microspores from sterile and restorer lines. The numbers of expressed genes varied in individual cells and fewer than half of the expressed genes were common to the same cell types. Four comparisons revealed 3379 differentially expressed genes(DEGs), with 277 putatively associated with mitochondria, 226 encoding transcription factors, and 467 possibly targeted by RF4. KEGG analysis indicated that the DEGs in the two lines at the tetrad stage were involved predominantly in carbon metabolism and in amino acid biosynthesis and metabolism, whereas the DEGs during the transition from the tetrad stage to the early mononucleate stage were associated mostly with regulation of protein metabolism, fatty acid metabolism, and anatomical structure morphogenesis. Thus, meiocyte and microspore development was affected by the surrounding cells and the restorer gene, and the restorer gene helped restore the redox homeostasis of microspores and the normal cellular reconstruction during the transition. | Huaisheng Zhang Huili Yang Desheng Hu Bing Li Yanan Lin Wen Yao Zhanyong Guo Haochuan Li Dong Ding Zhanhui Zhang Yanmin Hu Yadong Xue Jihua Tang | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,6: | 4
Direct electrochemistry of glucose oxidase on the hydroxyapatite/Nafion composite film modified electrode and its application for glucose biosensing显示文摘A novel glucose biosensor was constructed by immobilizing the glucose oxidase(GOD) on a hydroxyapatite(HAp)/Nafion composite film modified glassy carbon electrode(GCE) and applied to the highly selective and sensitive determination of glucose. With the cooperation of HAp and Nafion, the composite film played an important role in enhancing the stability and sensitivity of the biosensor. The results demonstrate that the GOD adsorbed onto the HAp/Nafion composite film exhibits a pair of welldefined nearly reversible redox peaks and fine catalysis to the oxidation of glucose companied with the consumption of dissolved oxygen. On the basis of the decrease of the reduction current of dissolved oxygen at the applied potential of -0.80 V(vs.SCE) upon the addition of glucose, the concentration of glucose could be detected sensitively and selectively. The decreased reduction current was linear with the concentration of glucose in the range of 0.12―2.16 mM.The detection limit and sensitivity were 0.02 mM(S/N=3) and 6.75 mA·M-1,respectively.All the results demonstrate that HAp/Nafion composite film provides a novel and efficient platform for the immobilization of enzymes and realizes the direct electrochemistry. The composite materials should have potential applications in the fabrication of third-generation biosensors. | MA RongNa WANG Bin LIU Yan LI Jing ZHAO Qian WANG GuoTao JIA WenLi WANG HuaiSheng | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,11: | 3
Improving CNT-Si solar cells by metal chloride-to-oxide transformation显示文摘Transitional metal oxides(TMOs)are important functional materials in silicon-based and thin-film optoelectronics. Here,TMOs areapplied in carbon nanotube(CNT)-Si solar cells by spin-coating solutions of metal chlorides that undergo favorable transformation in ambient conditions. An unconventional change in solar cell behavior is observed after coating two particular chlorides(MoCl,and WCls,respectively),characterized by an initial severe degradation followed by gradual recovery and then well surpassing the original performance.Detailed analysis reveals that the formation of correspondina oxides(MoOa and WO.)enables two primary functions on both CNTs(p-type doping)and Si(inducing inversion layer),leading to significant improvement in open-circuit voltage and fill factor, with power conversion efficiencies up to 13.0%(MoOg)and 13.4%(WOg).Further combining with other chlorides to increase the short-circuit current, ultimate cells efficiencies achieve>16%with over 90%retention after 24 h,which are among the highes stable efficiencies reported for CNT-Si solar cells. The transformation of functional layers as demonstrated here has profoundinfluence on the device characteristics, and represents a potential strategy in low-cost manufacturing of next-generation high efficiency photovoltaics. | Huaisheng Wu Xuewei Zhao Yizeng Wu Qinghuan Ji Linxiu Dai Yuanyuan Shang Anyuan Cao | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,2: | 3
Fabrication of the DNA/poly(3-methylthiophene) composite film modified electrode and its application for the study on the voltammetric behavior and determination of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine显示文摘A composite film of DNA/poly(3-methylthiophene)(P3MT) modified glassy carbon electrode(GCE) has been fabricated by electro-deposition method.P3MT film was first electropolymerized at the GCE and the DNA layer was then immobilized on the P3MT layer by electrochemical method. The voltammetric behavior of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine(8-OH-dG) at the composite film modified electrode was studied. The effects of scan rates,pH and the interference of uric acid(UA) on the voltammetric behavior and detection of 8-OH-dG were also discussed. The experimental results suggest that the electrochemical behavior of 8-OH-dG at the composite film modified electrode was greatly improved due to the combination of the advantages of P3MT and DNA.In 0.1 M pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution(PBS),the anodic peak currents of 8-OH-dG were linear with the 8-OH-dG concentration in two intervals,viz.0.28―4.2 μM and 4.2―19.6 μM.The detection limit of 56 nM 8-OH-dG could be estimated(S/N=3).This proposed composite film modified electrode shows excellent reproducibility and stability. It may have the potential application for the detection of 8-OH-dG in human urine. | WANG YanHuai,LI Jing,LIU Yan,MA RongNa,JIA WenLi,CUI Hui & WANG HuaiSheng College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering,Institute of Analytical Chemistry,Liaocheng University,Liaocheng 252059,China | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,11: | 2
Facet-dependent electrochemiluminescence spectrum of nanostructured ZnO显示文摘A facet-dependent electrochemiluminescence (ECL) behavior was found for nanostructured ZnO with different dominant exposing planes. The ECL spectrum of nanostructured ZnO was recorded by the emission scan mode with a fluorescence spectrometer and applied to investigate the difference of surface state for different crystal planes.Electronic structure calculations based on density functional theory were used to study the effect of crystal plane on the band structure and density of states. It revealed that the ECL emission was originated primarily from the recombination of electrons from Zn 4s and the hole from O 2p,which could be utilized to study the physical and chemical properties of surface structures of as-prepared nanostructured ZnO.A physical model was suggested to elucidate the differences of ECL spectra.A concept was proposed that the energy released as photons during ECL process of nanocrystalline semiconductor materials will be correlated with the energy level of active sites located at different crystal planes. | WANG Lei YUE QiaoLi LI HaiBo XU ShuLing GUO LianShun ZHANG XianXi WANG HuaiSheng GAO XueXi WANG WenJun LIU JiFeng LIU Peng | 2013 | Science China Chemistry2013,56,1: | 2

In-situ formation of hierarchical solid-electrolyte interphase for ultra-long cycling of aqueous zinc-ion batteries显示文摘Aqueous rechargeable zinc ion batteries have received widespread attention due to their high energy density and low cost. However, zinc metal anodes face fatal dendrite growth and detrimental side reactions, which affect the cycle stability and practical application of zinc ion batteries. Here,an in-situ formed hierarchical solid-electrolyte interphase composed of InF3,In,and ZnF2 layers with outside-in orientation on the Zn anode(denoted as Zn@InF3)is developed by a sample InF3 coating. The inner ultrathin ZnF2 interface between Zn anode and InF3 layer formed by the spontaneous galvanic replacement reaction between InF3 and Zn,is conductive to achieving uniform Zn deposition and inhibits the growth of Zinc dendrites due to the high electrical resistivity and Zn2+conductivity.Meanwhile,the middle uniformly generated metallic In and outside InF3 layers functioning as corrosion inhibitor suppressing the side reaction due to the waterproof surfaces, good chemical inactivity, and high hydrogen evolution overpotential.Besides, the as-prepared zinc anode enables dendrite-free Zn plating/stripping for more than 6,000 h at nearly 100%coulombic efficiency(CE).Furthermore, coupled with the MnO2 cathode, the full battery exhibits the long cycle of up to 1,000 cycles with a low negative-to-positive electrode capacity(N/P)ratio of 2.8. | Shaojie Zhang Jiajia Ye Huaisheng Ao Mingying Zhang Xilong Li Zhibin Xu Zhiguo Hou Yitai Qian | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,1: | 1
In-situ deposition of Pd/Pd_(4)S heterostructure on hollow carbon spheres as efficient electrocatalysts for rechargeable Li-O_(2)batteries显示文摘The sluggish kinetics of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)have always restricted the development of lithium oxygen batteries(LOBs).Herein, hollow carbon spheres loaded with Pd/Pd_(4)S heterostructure(Pd/Pd_(4)S@HCS)were successfully prepared via the in-situ deposition to improve the electrocatalytic activities for both ORR and OER in LOBs.With the welldispersed Pd/Pd_(4)S nanoparticles, the hierarchical composite with large specific surface area offers favorable transport channels for ions, electron and oxygen.Especially, the Pd/Pd_(4)S nanoparticles could exhibit excellent electrochemical performance for ORR and OER due to their intrinsic catalytic property and interfacial effect from the heterostructure. Therefore, the LOBs with Pd/Pd_(4)S@HCS as cathode catalyst show improved specific capacities, good rate ability and stable cycling performance. | Xiaomeng Liu Qishun Huang Jun Wang Lanling Zhao Haoran Xu Qing Xia Deyuan Li Lei Qian Huaisheng Wang Jintao Zhang | 2021 | Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,6: | 1
Electrospun Flexible Nanofibres for Batteries:Design and Application显示文摘Flexible and free-standing electrospun nanofibres have been used as electrode materials in electrochemical energy storage systems due to their versatile properties, such as mechanical stability, superb electrical conductivity, and high functionality. In energy storage systems such as metal-ion,metal-air,and metal-sulphur batteries, electrospun nanofibres are vital for constructing flexible electrodes and substantially enhancing their electrochemical properties. The need for flexible batteries has increased with increasing demand for new products such as wearable and flexible devices, including smartwatches and flexible displays.Conventional batteries have several semirigid to rigid components that limit their expansion in the flexible device market. The creation of flexible and wearable batteries with greater mechanical flexibility, higher energy, and substantial power density is critical in meeting the demand for these new electronic items. The implementation of carbon and carbon-derived composites into flexible electrodes is required to realize this goal.It is essential to understand recent advances and the comprehensive foundation behind the synthesis and assembly of various flexible electrospun nanofibres. The design of nanofibres, including those comprising carbon,N-doped carbon, hierarchical, porous carbon, and metal/metal oxide carbon composites, will be explored. We will highlight the merits of electrospun carbon flexible electrodes by describing porosity, surface area,binder-free and free-standing electrode construction, cycling stability, and performance rate.Significant scientific progress has been achieved and logistical challenges have been met in promoting secondary battery usage;therefore, this review of flexible electrode materials will advance this easily used and sought-after technology. The challenges and prospects involved in the timely development of carbon nanofibre composite flexible electrodes and batteries will be addressed. | P.Robert Ilango A.Dennyson Savariraj Hongjiao Huang Linlin Li Guangzhi Hu Huaisheng Wang Xiaodong Hou Byung Chul Kim Seeram Ramakrishna Shengjie Peng | 2023 | Electrochemical Energy Reviews2023,6,1: | 1
Three-dimensional stress variation characteristics in deep hard rock of CJPL-Ⅱ project based on in-situ monitoring显示文摘In deep hard rock excavation, stress plays a pivotal role in inducing stress-controlled failure. While the impact of excavation-induced stress disturbance on rock failure and tunnel stability has undergone comprehensive examination through laboratory tests and numerical simulations, its validation through insitu stress tests remains unexplored. This study analyzes the three-dimensional stress changes in the surrounding rock at various depths, monitored during the excavation of B2 Lab in China Jinping Underground Laboratory Phase Ⅱ(CJPL-Ⅱ). The investigation delves into the three-dimensional stress variation characteristics in deep hard rock, encompassing stress components and principal stress. The results indicate changes in both the magnitude and direction of the principal stress during tunnel excavation. To quantitatively describe the degree of stress disturbance, a series of stress evaluation indexes are established based on the distances between stress tensors, including the stress disturbance index(SDI), the principal stress magnitude disturbance index(SDIm), and the principal stress direction disturbance index(SDId). The SDI indicates the greatest stress disturbance in the surrounding rock is 4.5 m from the tunnel wall in B2 Lab. SDIm shows that the principal stress magnitude disturbance peaks at2.5 m from the tunnel wall. SDId reveals that the largest change in principal stress direction does not necessarily occur near the tunnel wall but at a specific depth from it. The established relationship between SDI and the depth of the excavation damaged zone(EDZ) can serve as a criterion for determining the depth of the EDZ in deep hard rock engineering. Additionally, it provides a reference for future construction and support considerations. | Minzong Zheng Shaojun Li Zejie Feng Huaisheng Xu Yaxun Xiao | 2024 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2024,34,2: | 0
Bipolar electrode architecture enables high-energy aqueous rechargeable sodium ion battery显示文摘Aqueous rechargeable sodium ion batteries(ARSIBs),with intrinsic safety, low cost, and greenness, are attracting more and more attentions for large scale energy storage application. However, the low energy density hampers their practical application. Here,a battery architecture designed by bipolar electrode with graphite/amorphous carbon film as current collector shows high energy density and excellent rate-capability.The bipolar electrode architecture is designed to not only improve energy density of practical battery by minimizing inactive ingredient, such as tabs and cases, but also guarantee high rate-capability through a short electron transport distance in the through-plane direction instead of in-plane direction for traditional cell architecture. As a proof of concept,a prototype pouch cell of 8 V based on six Na_(2)MnFe(CN)_(6)||NaTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)bipolar electrodes stacking using a“water-in-polymer”gel electrolyte is demonstrated to cycle up to 4,000 times, with a high energy density of 86 Wh·kg^(−1)based on total mass of both cathode and anode. This result opens a new avenue to develop advance high-energy ARSIBs for grid-scale energy storage applications. | Zhiguo Hou Wutao Mao Zixiang Zhang Jiawu Chen Huaisheng Ao Yitai Qian | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,6: | 0
