6EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON FALL VELOCITY OF NON-UNIFORM SEDIMENT IN FLOWING WATER显示文摘A conical settlement barrel is used to study the group fall velocity of non-uniform particles, which allows the current to flow from the bottom to the top, with particles suspending in the flow. The average flow velocity at the cross section is regarded as the settling speed of the particles. A formula of group settling velocity for non-uniform particles is obtained by analyzing the experimental data. Also, a preliminary study on the group fall velocity of each size of non-uniform particles is carried out, and fall velocity formulas for various size groups are obtained. 7Light from space illuminating the polar silk road显示文摘The rapid decline of Arctic sea ice has been reminding us the significant impacts caused by global warming.However,the other side of the coin is that this opens a window to utilize the Arctic sea routes in the summer seasons,bringing remarkable economic benefits for ocean transportation between Asia and Europe.However,commercial vessels with low ice classes must tackle substantial environmental challenges in the Arctic sea routes,particularly those caused by variable sea ice,even in the melting seasons.Therefore,the science-based support for shipping safety in the Arctic sea routes is being given more prominence.Emerging satellite remote sensing technology plays a critical role in environmental monitoring in the Arctic.This paper reviews state-of-the-art satellite observations on monitoring sea ice and potential applications on supporting shipping activities in the Arctic Ocean.Moreover,we introduced a recently developed system based on satellite observations to support the safe transportation of Chinese cargo vessels in the Arctic northern sea route,demonstrating the efforts by both the science and business communities to promote the development of the polar silk road.Xiao-Ming Li Yujia Qiu Yacheng Wang Bingqing Huang Haiming Lu Min Chu Han Fu Fengming Hui 2022International Journal of Digital Earth2022,15,1:0
8HAND2-AS1,PRKAA2 and VLDLR predict the risk of peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer of different Lauren types based on STEPP analysis显示文摘The peritoneum is the most common site of recurrence of gastric cancer(GC).Early occult peritoneal metastasis is difficult to detect by imaging examination.Stratifying the risk of peritoneal metastasis in patients with different Lauren subtypes is of great clinical value.We performed a univariate Cox regression to identify those genes with prognostic value of overall survival(OS)and peritoneal-specified disease-free survival(psDFS)from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.The candidate genes were screened by the Subpopulation Treatment Effect Pattern Plot(STEPP)method.Propensity score matching(PSM)analysis was used to reduce the interference of confounders on the results.Based on the optimal cut-off values determined by the STEPP method,we found overexpression of three genes(HAND2-AS1,PRKAA2,and VLDLR)was correlated with shorter 1-year psDFS among patients with diffuse-type than that of patients with intestinal-type GC,and it is highly significant.Gene Set Enrichment Analysis(GSEA)potentially suggested that the three genes promote the early occurrence of peritoneal metastasis in patients with diffuse-type GC through glucose metabolism-related pathways.These three genes may be potential biomarkers.They can be used to assess the risk of peritoneal metastases to guide treatment decisions and follow-up strategies.HUI QU RUICHUAN SHI BOWEN YANG XI CHEN YUJIA SONG LINGZI HE YITING SUN YUJING YANG ZHI LI XIUJUAN QU 2022BIOCELL2022,46,3:0
9Overall survival,late mortality,and cancer-directed surgery among children and adolescents with ultra-rare pediatric pancreatoblastoma in the United States,1975-2018显示文摘Background:Pediatric pancreatoblastoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor,posing diagnostic and treatment difficulties for pediatric surgeons.Using the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database,we present an up-to-date report of the epidemiology,clinicopathological features,survival rates,and prognosis of pancreatoblastoma in pediatric patients.Methods:All pediatric patients diagnosed with pancreatoblastoma between 1975 and 2018 were identified in the SEER regis-tries(SEER 8 registries and SEER 17 registries).We conducted a survival analysis to assess overall survival and 1-and 5-year late mortality rates.Descriptive statistics and log-rank test were performed.Results:A total of 22 children and adolescents with pancreatoblastoma were identified.In this cohort,12 of 22 were male(54.55%),14 were White(63.64%),and 11 were diagnosed between the ages of 1 and 4 years(50.0%).Among the 22 patients,11(50.0%)had distant metastases,whereas 7(31.82%)had localized,and 4(18.18%)had a regional disease.A total of 5 children and adolescents died during the study period,with cumulative survival rates of 14 of 17(82.35%)and 10 of 11(90.95%)among 1-and 5-year survivors,respectively.Cancer-directed surgery was significantly associated with an increased life expectancy(log-rank test,P=.018).Conclusion:Pediatric pancreatoblastoma is a rare entity.Cases that underwent surgery had a greater likelihood of overall survival and reduced late mortality.Peiyi Li Yujia Kong Lin Wan Jing Guo Weimin Li Hui Zhang Guang Yang Bo Zhang 2023Journal of Pancreatology2023,6,2:0
10EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SALTATION OF SOLID GRAINS IN FLOWING WATER显示文摘This paper deals with the saltation of bed-load solid grains in flowing water. Experiments have been carried out by means of high-speed photographing and advanced data processing techniques while the analysis is made by combined method of mechani- cal and statistical theories. Experiments reveal that saltation is the main form of the bed-load transport under ordinary flow conditions. Taking successive saltation as the model of bed-load transport, systematic analysis has been made with regard to the forces acting on grains and the variation of their magnitudes along the saltation trajec- tories to obtain the kinematic and dynamic properties of these grains. A relationship between the velocity profile and concentration distribution is developed covering clear water and sediment-laden flow (including homogeneous and heterogeneous flow). The relationship suggested here has been verified with experimental data.
