| 2 | Water quality criteria research and progress显示文摘Water quality criteria (WQC) are threshold limits for pollutants or other hazard factors in the ambient water environment, which are based on scientific experiments and extrapolations. Until now, there is limited information available regarding the study of water quality criteria in China. It is imperative to launch national-level systematic WQC studies that focus on the regional characteristics of China and provide scientific support for the enactment or revision of water quality standards and environmental management. This article reviews the concept of WQC and discusses the methodology and global progress of WQC research. The article also summarizes the key scientific issues in WQC research, including species sensitivity distribution, toxicological endpoint selection, and models selection. Furthermore, we can adopt the derivation method used in the USA and divide WQC into acute and chronic criteria. | 3 | Distribution characteristics and ecological risk assessment of PAHs in surface waters of China显示文摘The concentrations of PAHs in the surface waters from seven river basins in China were summarized from literature published from 2000-2010. Subsequently, the risks from individual PAHs and ∑PAHs in the surface waters of China were quantified by comparing the overlap between the probability distributions of exposure concentrations with the probability distributions of toxicity data. The results show that the concentrations of 15 PAHs in the surface waters ranged from 3.09 to 38139.00 ng L-1, with a geometric mean of 474.93 ng L-1. The significantly higher concentrations of the 15 PAHs occurred in the surface waters from northern China when compared with those from southern China. The concentrations of the 15 PAHs in Chinese surface waters were higher than those in other waters worldwide. The MOS10 (margin of safety) values were calculated at 90th percentile values of exposure concentrations and 10th percentile values of toxicity data, with 5.75, 0.17, 2.33, 0.30, 0.57, 1.74, 1.05, and 0.11 for Ace, Ant, Flu, BaP, Flua, Nap, Phe, and Pyr, respectively. The probabilities of the individual PAH concentrations exceeding the 10th percentile value of the toxicity data were 6.06%, 2.07%, 9.51%, and 2.07% for Nap, Ace, Phe, and Flu, respectively, suggesting minimal risk to aquatic organisms; however, the probabilities of BaP, Ant, Flua, and Pyr exceeding this value were 19.49%, 25.46%, 15.15%, and 30.50%, respectively, indicating potential risks. Among the individual PAHs, the ecological risk from Pyr was the highest, followed by, in descending order of risk, Ant, Bap, Flua, Phe, Nap, Flu, and Ace. Additionally, the combined ecological risk of ∑PAH8 in Chinese surface waters was significantly higher than any that of individual PAHs alone. The MOS10 values in the river basins were < 1, except for the Haihe River Basin, suggesting a potential combined risk from ∑PAH8 in the other six river basins. | 4 | Cd uptake in rice cultivars treated with organic acids and EDTA显示文摘A pot experiment was conducted to examine the activity of antioxidant enzymes, the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), proline and protein, and Cd uptake in different rice cultivars exposed to Cd (0, 1 and 5 mg/kg) in the presence of organic acids and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA). The results showed the increase in activity of dismutase (SOD), contents of proline and protein but a decline in activities of peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT), and MDA content for cultivars Xiushui63 and IIyou527. The resistance to Cd was higher in Xiushui63 than that in IIyou527 under the same Cd treatment. Cadmium contents in grain, straw and roots of both cultivars were markedly reduced in the presence of organic acids and EDTA. | 5 | Novel Co_3O_4 Nanoparticles/Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Composites with Extraordinary Catalytic Activity for Oxygen Evolution Reaction(OER)显示文摘Herein, Co_3O_4 nanoparticles/nitrogen-doped carbon(Co_3O_4/NPC) composites with different structures were prepared via a facile method. Structure control was achieved by the rational morphology design of ZIF-67 precursors, which were then pyrolyzed in air to obtain Co_3O_4/NPC composites. When applied as catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER), the M-Co_3O_4/NPC composites derived from the flower-like ZIF-67 showedsuperior catalytic activities than those derived from the rhombic dodecahedron and hollow spherical ZIF-67. The former M-Co_3O_4/NPC composite displayed a small overpotential of 0.3 V, low onset potential of 1.41 V, small Tafel slope of 83 m V dec^(-1), and a desirable stability.(94.7% OER activity was retained after 10 h.) | 6 | Oxidative damage of primary cultured hippocampal neurons Does androgen have an antagonistic effect?显示文摘BACKGROUND: Evidence illustrates that androgen has a neuroprotective role.However,whether androgen also has the protective effect on hippocampal neurons during free radical mediated injury remains unclear.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the neuroprotective effect of androgen on hippocampal neurons during free radical damage.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: A controlled in vitro experiment was performed at the Department of Human Anatomy,Cell Culture Lab,and Neuroendocrinology Lab,Basic Medical School,Hebei Medical University from February to June 2009.MATERIALS: Testosterone was provided by Tianjin Jinyao Amino Acid Company,China.METHODS: Primary cultured neurons from 24 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned into four groups: control,H2O2,testosterone,and testosterone (pre-added) plus H2O2 groups.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The positive cell ratio of microtubule associated protein-II and neuron specific enolase was determined by immunocytochemistry.Neuronal morphology was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and Nissl staining.Cell vitality and viability were determined using an inverted phase contrast microscope.The content of nitric oxide synthase,malondialdehyde,and superoxide dismutase were measured with a spectrophotometer.RESULTS: As compared with the control group,cell vitality and viability,and superoxide dismutase level were significantly decreased in the H2O2 group (P < 0.05),while nitric oxide synthase and malondialdehyde levels were significantly increased (P < 0.05).Neuronal vitality and viability as well as superoxide dismutase level in the testosterone plus H2O2 group were significantly greater than in the H2O2 group (P < 0.05),and nitric oxide synthase and malondialdehyde levels were significantly less than in the H2O2 group (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Androgen partially reversed H2O2-induced neuronal damage and protected neurons. | Zhaohui Li Zhiping Cai Huixian Cui Jinsong Zhu Sha Li Guosheng Xie Lei Xue | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,5: | 4 |
| 7 | Metasurface-enabled augmented reality display: a review显示文摘Augmented reality(AR)display,which superimposes virtual images on ambient scene,can visually blend the physical world and the digital world and thus opens a new vista for human–machine interaction.AR display is considered as one of the next-generation display technologies and has been drawing huge attention from both academia and industry.Current AR display systems operate based on a combination of various refractive,reflective,and diffractive optical elements,such as lenses,prisms,mirrors,and gratings.Constrained by the underlying physical mechanisms,these conventional elements only provide limited light-field modulation capability and suffer from issues such as bulky volume and considerable dispersion,resulting in large size,severe chromatic aberration,and narrow field of view of the composed AR display system.Recent years have witnessed the emerging of a new type of optical elements—metasurfaces,which are planar arrays of subwavelength electromagnetic structures that feature an ultracompact footprint and flexible light-field modulation capability,and are widely believed to be an enabling tool for overcoming the limitations faced by current AR displays.Here,we aim to provide a comprehensive review on the recent development of metasurface-enabled AR display technology.We first familiarize readers with the fundamentals of AR display,covering its basic working principle,existing conventional-optics-based solutions,as well as the associated pros and cons.We then introduce the concept of optical metasurfaces,emphasizing typical operating mechanisms,and representative phase modulation methods.We elaborate on three kinds of metasurface devices,namely,metalenses,metacouplers,and metaholograms,which have empowered different forms of AR displays.Their physical principles,device designs,and the performance improvement of the associated AR displays are explained in details.In the end,we discuss the existing challenges of metasurface optics for AR display applications and provide our perspective on future research endeavors. | Zeyang Liu Danyan Wang Hao Gao Moxin Li Huixian Zhou Cheng Zhang | 2023 | Advanced Photonics2023,5,3: | 2 |
| 8 | An Efficient and Secure Multi-Secret Sharing Scheme with General Access Structures显示文摘A multiple secret sharing scheme can share a group of secrets in each sharing session, which is very useful especially in sharing large secrets. However, most of the existing multiple secret sharing schemes are (t, n) threshold schemes, so they are fit for only threshold applications and unfit for the applications of general access structures. Due to the fact that a (t, n) threshold scheme could only handle a small fraction of the secret sharing idea, a novel multi-secret sharing scheme is proposed, which is designed based on general access structures. The security of this scheme is the same as that of Shamir’s threshold secret sharing scheme. | 12 | One-step preparation of polyimide-inlaid amine-rich porous organic block copolymer for efficient removal of chlorophenols from aqueous solution显示文摘A novel polyimide-inlaid amine-rich porous organic block copolymer(PI-b-ARPOP) was prepared via one-step polymerization by using different molar ratios of melamine(MA)/terephthalaldehyde(TA)/pyromellitic dianhydride(PMDA), at molar ratios of 4/3/1, 4/2/2 and 4/1/3. The copolymer contained both aminal groups belonging to ARPOP and imide groups belonging to PI, and the bonding styles of the monomers and growth orientations of the polymeric chains were diversiform, forming an excellent porous structure. Notably, MA/TA/PMDA(4/2/2) had a surface area and pore volume of 487.27 m^2/g and 1.169 cm^3/g,respectively. The adsorption performance of the materials towards 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP) in ultra-pure water was systematically studied. The pH value of 7 was optimal in aqueous solution. Na^+ and Cl^-ions did not negatively affect the adsorption process, while humic acid(HA) slightly decreased the capacity. The equilibrium time was 40 sec, and the maximum adsorption capacity reached 282.49 mg/g at 298 K. The removal process was endothermic and spontaneous, and the copolymer could maintain its porous structure and consistent performance after regeneration by treatment with alkali. Moreover, to further assess the practical applicability of the material, the adsorption performance towards 2,4-DCP in river water was also investigated. | 14 | Isolation and Identification of Squash Leaf Curl China Virus in Zucchini显示文摘[Objectives]In 2019,virus diseases occurred widely on zucchini planted in Shandong Province.The disease symptom was different from previous reports.This study aimed to identify the pathogen causing the zucchini virus disease.[Methods]Ten diseased zucchini leaves were collected in the field and used as materials for PCR and sequencing.[Results]PCR detection and sequencing showed that the nucleotide sequence of the amplified fragment had the highest identity with the squash isolate of squash leaf curl China virus(SLCCNV)(MW389919.1)in Guangdong Province.Primers were further designed for amplifying the full-length SLCCNV.The full-length DNA-A was 2730 bp(OM692270.1),and the full-length DNA-B was 2711 bp(OM692269.1).Through sequence alignment,it was found that the DNA-A sequence shared identity of 89.65%-99.42%with registered SLCCNV,and the identity with the SLCCNV-GDHY pumpkin isolate(MW389919.1)in Guangdong was the highest,at 99.42%.The DNA-B sequence was identical with registered SLCCNV in the range of 81.82%-97.29%,and the identity with the SLCCNV-GDHY pumpkin isolate(MW389918.1)in Guangdong,was the highest,at 97.29%.Therefore,it was speculated that SLCCNV is the pathogen of zucchini virus disease.Since the virus was first found on zucchini in Shandong,it was named SLCCNV-SD.[Conclusions]This study provides materials for the research on the spread of SLCCNV in China and the analysis of population genetic characteristics,as well as a reference for the prevention and control of the virus in zucchini. | Huixian SHI Yimin GU Xingsheng LI Xiping SUN Yangdong GUO Xiaowei YUAN | 2022 | Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,5: | 1 |
