| 1 | Association between Plasma Metal Levels and Diabetes Risk: a Case-control Study in China显示文摘Objective Many metals, some of which have been classified as environmental endocrine disruptors, are used extensively in everyday consumer products and are ubiquitous in our living environment. In the present study, we aimed to explore the associations between the prevalence risk of type 2 diabetes and plasma levels of 20 trace elements as well as those of heavy metals in a Han Chinese population. Methods We conducted a case-control study to investigate the associations between plasma concentrations of 20 metals and diabetes in Jiangsu province. A total of 122 newly diagnosed cases of type 2 diabetes and 429 matched controls were recruited from community physical examinations in Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province. Plasma metal levels were measured by inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Results After adjusting for confounders, plasma vanadium, chromium, manganese, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, strontium, palladium, cadmium, cesium, and barium were associated with diabetes risk(P < 0.05). The adjusted OR increased with increasing concentration of vanadium, manganese, copper, zinc, and cesium. Conclusion Many metals, including manganese, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, and cadmium in plasma, are associated with the morbidity of diabetes. Monitoring of environmental metal levels and further studies are urgently needed. | LI Xiu Ting YU Peng Fei GAO Yan GUO Wen Hui WANG Jun LIU Xin GU Ai Hua JI Gui Xiang DONG Qiu WANG Bo Shen CAO Ying ZHU Bao Li XIAO Hang | 2017 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017,30,7: | 8 |
| 2 | Assessment of Iron Bioavailability in Ten Kinds of Chinese Wheat Flours Using an in vitro Digestion/Caco-2 cell Model显示文摘Objective To compare iron bioavailability (Fe BV) from ten selected kinds of Chinese wheat flours in order to provide scientific basis for further human trials and enable plant breeding programs to screen biofortified wheat cultivars. Methods An in vitro digestion/Caco-2 cell model was used to assess Fe BV of ten flour samples from six leading Chinese wheat cultivars and the stability of Fe BV in one cultivar was studied across three growing environments. Results Significant differences were observed in both Fe BV and Fe bioavailability per gram of food (Fe BVPG) among cultivars (P<0.01) grown at the same location with the same flour extraction rate. Zhongyou 9507 and Jingdong 8 had Fe BV 37%-54% and Fe BVPG 103%-154% higher than the reference control. In the Anyang environment, Zhongyou 9507 had a higher wheat flour-Fe level and Fe BVPG. Differences in Fe BV were detected in cultivars with different flour extraction rates. Conclusion Zhongyou 9507 and Jingdong 8 were identified as the most promising cultivars for further evaluation of efficacy by using human subjects. The growing environments had no effect on Fe BV, but did have a significant effect on Fe BVPG. Fe bioavailabilities in low-extraction (40%) flours were higher than those in high-extraction (78%) flours. | LEI Ji ZHANG Yong CHEN Xiang Gui ZHANG Ming Qiu BAI Lin HUANG Cheng Yu Ortiz Monasterio IVAN | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,5: | 5 |
| 3 | Polymer composites designed with 3D fibrous CNT“tracks”achieving excellent thermal conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency显示文摘The rapid improvement in the running speed, transmission efficiency, and power density of miniaturized devices means that multifunctional flexible composites with excellent thermal management capability and high electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding performance are urgently required. Here, inspired by the fibrous pathways of the human nervous system,a“core–sheath”fibers structured strategy was proposed to prepare thermoplastic polyurethane/polydopamine/carbon nanotube(TPU/PDA/CNT)composites film with thermal management capability and EMI shielding performance.Firstly,TPU@PDA@CNT fibers with CNT shell were prepared by a facile polydopamine-assisted coating on electrospun TPU fibers.Subsequently,TPU/PDA/CNT composites with three-dimensional(3D)fibrous CNT“tracks”are obtained by a hot-pressing process, where CNTs distributed on adjacent fibers are compactly contacted. The fabricated TPU/PDA/CNT composites exhibit a high in-plane thermal conductivity(TC)of 9.6 W/(m·K)at low CNT loading of 7.6 wt.%.In addition,it also presents excellent mechanical properties and excellent EMI shielding effectiveness of 48.3 dB as well as multi-source driven thermal management capabilities.Hence, this study provides a simple yet scalable technique to prepare composites with advanced thermal management and EMI shielding performance to develop new-generation wireless communication technologies and portable intelligent electronic devices. | Gui Yang Liangchun Zhou Mingjie Wang Tiantian Xiang Duo Pan Jingzhan Zhu Fengmei Su Youxin Ji Chuntai Liu Changyu Shen | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,8: | 0 |
