1Jasmonic acid carboxyl methyltransferase regulates development and herbivory-induced defense response in rice显示文摘Jasmonic acid(JA) and related metabolites play a key role in plant defense and growth. JA carboxyl methyltransferase(JMT) may be involved in plant defense and development by methylating JA to methyl jasmonate(Me JA) and thus influencing the concentrations of JA and related metabolites. However, no JMT gene has been well characterized in monocotyledon defense and development at the molecular level. After we cloned a rice JMT gene,Os JMT1, whose encoding protein was localized in the cytosol, we found that the recombinant Os JMT1 protein catalyzed JA to Me JA. Os JMT1 is up-regulated in response to infestation with the brown planthopper(BPH; Nilaparvata lugens). Plants in which Os JMT1 had been overexpressed(oeJMT plants) showed reduced height and yield. These oe-JMT plants also exhibited increased Me JA levels but reduced levels of herbivore-induced JA and jasmonoyl-isoleucine(JAIle). The oe-JMT plants were more attractive to BPH female adults but showed increased resistance to BPH nymphs,probably owing to the different responses of BPH female adults and nymphs to the changes in levels of H_2O_2 and Me JA in oe-JMT plants. 5Unraveling a genetic roadmap for improved taste in the domesticated apple显示文摘Although taste is an important aspect of fruit quality, an understanding of its genetic control remains elusive in apple and other fruit crops. In this study, we conducted genomic sequence analysis of 497 Malus accessions and revealed erosion of genetic diversity caused by apple breeding and possible independent domestication events of dessert and cider apples. Signatures of selection for fruit acidity and size, but not for fruit sugar content, were detected during the processes of both domestication and improvement. Furthermore, we found that single mutations in major genes affecting fruit taste, including Ma1, MdTDT, and MdSOT2, dramatically decrease malate, citrate, and sorbitol accumulation, respectively, and correspond to important domestication events. Interestingly, Ma1 was identified to have pleiotropic effects on both organic acid content and sugar:acid ratio, suggesting that it plays a vital role in determining fruit taste. Fruit taste is unlikely to have been negatively affected by linkage drag associated with selection for larger fruit that resulted from the pyramiding of multiple genes with minor effects on fruit size. 6Active terahertz beam steering based on mechanical deformation of liquid crystal elastomer metasurface显示文摘Active metasurfaces are emerging as the core of next-generation optical devices with their tunable optical responses and flat-compact topography.Especially for the terahertz band,active metasurfaces have been developed as fascinating devices for optical chopping and compressive sensing imaging.However,performance regulation by changing the dielectric parameters of the integrated functional materials exhibits severe limitations and parasitic losses.Here,we introduce a C-shape-split-ring-based phase discontinuity metasurface with liquid crystal elastomer as the substrate for infrared modulation of terahertz wavefront.Line-focused infrared light is applied to manipulate the deflection of the liquid crystal elastomer substrate,enabling controllable and broadband wavefront steering with a maximum output angle change of 22°at 0.68THz.Heating as another control method is also investigated and compared with infrared control.We further demonstrate the performance of liquid crystal elastomer metasurface as a beam steerer,frequency modulator,and tunable beam splitter,which are highly desired in terahertz wireless communication and imaging systems.The proposed scheme demonstrates the promising prospects of mechanically deformable metasurfaces,thereby paving the path for the development of reconfigurable metasurfaces.Xiaolin Zhuang Wei Zhang Kemeng Wang Yangfan Gu Youwen An Xueqian Zhang Jianqiang Gu Dan Luo Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,1:4
7Heterogeneous Parallel Algorithm Design and Performance Optimization for WENO on the Sunway TaihuLight Supercomputer显示文摘A Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory scheme(WENO) is a solution to hyperbolic conservation laws,suitable for solving high-density fluid interface instability with strong intermittency. These problems have a large and complex flow structure. To fully utilize the computing power of High Performance Computing(HPC) systems, it is necessary to develop specific methodologies to optimize the performance of applications based on the particular system’s architecture. The Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer is currently ranked as the fastest supercomputer in the world. This article presents a heterogeneous parallel algorithm design and performance optimization of a high-order WENO on Sunway TaihuLight. We analyzed characteristics of kernel functions, and proposed an appropriate heterogeneous parallel model. We also figured out the best division strategy for computing tasks,and implemented the parallel algorithm on Sunway TaihuLight. 8Polarization-independent all-silicon dielectric metasurfaces in the terahertz regime显示文摘Dielectric metasurfaces have achieved great success in realizing high-efficiency wavefront control in the optical and infrared ranges. Here, we experimentally demonstrate several efficient, polarization-independent, all-silicon dielectric metasurfaces in the terahertz regime. The metasurfaces are composed of cylindrical silicon pillars on a silicon substrate, which can be easily fabricated using etching technology for semiconductors. By locally tailoring the diameter of the pillars, full control over abrupt phase changes can be achieved. To show the controlling ability of the metasurfaces, an anomalous deflector, three Bessel beam generators, and three vortex beam generators are fabricated and characterized. We also show that the proposed metasurfaces can be easily combined to form composite devices with extended functionalities. 9Magnetically levitated/piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator as a power supply for the temperature sensor显示文摘The combination of new intelligent materials and structure technology is becoming an effective way in energy havesting and self-powered sensing. In this work, we demonstrate a magnetically levitated/piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator, which does not use complex structure and has high steady output performance. It includes three parts: magnetically levitated generator(MLG), piezoelectric generator(PNG), triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG). The peak power of each is 135 μW, 22 mW and3.6 mW, which are obtained at 1 MΩ, 10 kΩ and 1 kΩ, respectively. The hybrid generator can completely light up light-emitting diodes(LEDs) under the vibration frequency of 20 Hz and the vibration amplitude of 10 mm. It also can charge a 470 μF capacitor.On this basis, we have integrated the hybrid generaor as a power supply into a self-powered tempreature sensing system. 10Effect of fatigue loading-confining stress unloading rate on marble mechanical behaviors: An insight into fracture evolution analyses显示文摘Rocks in underground works usually experience rather complex stress disturbance.For this,their fracture mechanism is significantly different from rocks subjected to conventional triaxial compression conditions.The effects of stress disturbances on rock geomechanical behaviors under fatigue loading conditions and triaxial unloading conditions have been reported in previous studies.However,little is known about the dependence of the unloading rate on fatigue loading and confining stress unloading(FL-CSU)conditions that influence rock failure.In this paper,we aimed at investigating the fracture behaviors of marble under FL-CSU conditions using the post-test X-ray computed tomography(CT)scanning technique and the GCTS RTR 2000 rock mechanics system.Results show that damage accumulation at the fatigue stage can influence the final fracture behaviors of marble.The stored elastic energy for rock samples under FL-CSU tests is relatively larger compared to those under conventional triaxial tests,and the dissipated energy used to drive damage evolution and crack propagation is larger for FL-CSU tests.In FL-CSU tests,as the unloading rate increases,the dissipated energy grows and elastic energy reduces.CT scanning after the test reveals the impacts of the unloading rate on the crack pattern and a fracture degree index is therein defined in this context to represent the crack dimension.It shows that the crack pattern after FL-CSU tests depends on the unloading rate,and the fracture degree is in agreement with the analysis of both the energy dissipation and the amount of energy released.The effect of unloading rate on fracture evolution characteristics of marble is revealed by a series of FL-CSU tests.Yu Wang Dongqiao Liu Jianqiang Han Changhong Li Hao Liu 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,6:3
11Tribological study of N-containing borate derivatives and their synergistic antioxidation effects with T531显示文摘Two N-containing borates, BTES and BMES, were synthesized with dodecyl phenol, 2-(N-containing heterocyclic) ethan-1-ol, boric acid, and dibutylamine, and their tribological properties in rapeseed oil(RSO) were investigated using a four-ball tester. The results showed that the load-carrying ability(P_B value) of RSO can be improved by 40.9% and 67.9%, respectively, when using 0.5 wt% BTES and BMES. Moreover, the antiwear and friction-reducing performances of the additive-containing oils increased with the additive concentration. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results of the worn steel ball surfaces showed that BTES and BMES formed protective films, which contained boron oxide, iron oxide, ferrous sulfate, ferrous sulfide(for BMES), and other organic nitrogen compounds, on the metal surfaces. The better load-carrying and antiwear performances of BMES than those of BTES might be due to their different sulfur contents, which result in different tribochemical reaction films on the contact surfaces. 12Deep reinforcement with spectrum series learning control for a mode-locked fiber laser显示文摘A spectrum series learning-based model is presented for mode-locked fiber laser state searching and switching.The mode-locked operation search policy is obtained by our proposed algorithm that combines deep reinforcement learning and long short-term memory networks.Numerical simulations show that the dynamic features of the laser cavity can be obtained from spectrum series.Compared with the traditional evolutionary search algorithm that only uses the current state,this model greatly improves the efficiency of the mode-locked search.The switch of the mode-locked state is realized by a predictive neural network that controls the pump power.In the experiments,the proposed algorithm uses an average of only 690 ms to obtain a stable mode-locked state,which is one order of magnitude less than that of the traditional method.The maximum number of search steps in the algorithm is 47 in the 16°C–30°C temperature environment.The pump power prediction error is less than 2 mW,which ensures precise laser locking on multiple operating states.This proposed technique paves the way for a variety of optical systems that require fast and robust control.ZHAN LI SHUAISHUAI YANG QI XIAO TIANYU ZHANG YONG LI LU HAN DEAN LIU XIAOPING OUYANG JIANQIANG ZHU 2022Photonics Research2022,10,6:2

14Generation of strong magnetic fields with a laser-driven coil显示文摘As a promising new way to generate a controllable strong magnetic field, laser-driven magnetic coils have attracted interest in many research fields. In 2013, a kilotesla level magnetic field was achieved at the Gekko XⅡ laser facility with a capacitor–coil target. A similar approach has been adopted in a number of laboratories, with a variety of targets of different shapes. The peak strength of the magnetic field varies from a few tesla to kilotesla, with different spatiotemporal ranges. The differences are determined by the target geometry and the parameters of the incident laser. Here we present a review of the results of recent experimental studies of laser-driven magnetic field generation, as well as a discussion of the diagnostic techniques required for such rapidly changing magnetic fields. 15Security-aware Signal Packing Algorithm for CAN-based Automotive Cyber-physical Systems显示文摘Network and software integration pose severe challenges in cyber-security for controller area network(CAN)-based automotive cyber-physical system(ACPS), therefore we employ message authentication code(MAC) to defend CAN against masquerade attack, but the consequent bandwidth overhead makes it a necessity to find the tradeoff among security, real-time and bandwidth utilization for signal packing problem(SPP) of CAN.A mixed-security signal model is firstly proposed to formally describe the properties and requirements on security and real-time for signals, and then a mixed-integer linear programming(MILP)formulation of SPP security-aware signal packing(SASP) is implemented to solve the tradeoff problem, where the bandwidth utilization is improved and the requirements in both security and real-time are met. 16An ε-domination based two-archive 2 algorithm for many-objective optimization显示文摘The two-archive 2 algorithm(Two_Arch2) is a manyobjective evolutionary algorithm for balancing the convergence,diversity,and complexity using diversity archive(DA) and convergence archive(CA).However,the individuals in DA are selected based on the traditional Pareto dominance which decreases the selection pressure in the high-dimensional problems.The traditional algorithm even cannot converge due to the weak selection pressure.Meanwhile,Two_Arch2 adopts DA as the output of the algorithm which is hard to maintain diversity and coverage of the final solutions synchronously and increase the complexity of the algorithm.To increase the evolutionary pressure of the algorithm and improve distribution and convergence of the final solutions,an ε-domination based Two_Arch2 algorithm(ε-Two_Arch2) for many-objective problems(MaOPs) is proposed in this paper.In ε-Two_Arch2,to decrease the computational complexity and speed up the convergence,a novel evolutionary framework with a fast update strategy is proposed;to increase the selection pressure,ε-domination is assigned to update the individuals in DA;to guarantee the uniform distribution of the solution,a boundary protection strategy based on I_(ε+) indicator is designated as two steps selection strategies to update individuals in CA.To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm,a series of benchmark functions with different numbers of objectives is solved.The results demonstrate that the proposed method is competitive with the state-of-the-art multi-objective evolutionary algorithms and the efficiency of the algorithm is significantly improved compared with Two_Arch2.WU Tianwei AN Siguang HAN Jianqiang SHENTU Nanying 2022Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2022,33,1:1
17Effects of land-use and climate change on sediment and nutrient retention in Guizhou,China显示文摘Introduction:Sediment and nutrient retention have significant impacts on agricultural productivity and water quality.Obvious changes of climate and land-use have deeply affected freshwater ecosystem services in the last several decades.Nevertheless,it is unclear what the differences are in the impact of climate and land-use changes on freshwater ecosystem services.Outcomes:The impacts of climate and land-use change on sediment and nutrient retention(two essential freshwater ecosystem services)were evaluated with the help of the Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)model.The results from the study area suggest a decreasing trend in sediment and nutrient retention from 1995 to 2015 when climate and land-use were changed simultaneously.A decreasing trend in sediment retention and an increasing trend in nutrient retention were presented under scenario A(climate change from 1995 to 2015 with land-use unchanged),while the sediment exported and nutrient retention exhibited a decreasing trend except sediment retained under scenario B(land-use change from 1995 to 2015 with unchanged climate).Rainfall erosivity and soil erodibility were more sensitive to the output of sediment retention,while retention efficiency produced more of an effect on nutrient retention.Discussion and Conclusion:Climate change played a dominant role in the change in sediment retention,while land-use change had a more significant effect on nutrient retention change than climate change.The results of this study provide explicitinformation for land-use managers to reduce the negative effects associated with sediment and nutrient retention.Huiqing Han Jianqiang Yang Geng Ma Yue Liu Linan Zhang Siying Chen Shuliang Ma 2020Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1:1

19Mesozoic Tectonothermal Evolution of the Southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Evidence from Apatite Fission-Track Thermochronology in Shalazha Mountain, Inner Mongolia显示文摘Mesozoic intracontinental orogeny and deformation were widespread within the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB). Chronological constraints remain unclear when assessing the Mesozoic evolution of the central segment of this region. The tectonic belt of Shalazha Mountain located in the center of this region is an ideal place to decode the deformation process. Apatite fission-track(AFT) thermochronology in Shalazha Mountain is applied to constrain the Mesozoic tectonothermal evolution of the central segment of southern CAOB. The bedrock AFT ages range from 161.8 ± 6.9 to 137.0 ± 7.3 Ma, and the first reported detrital AFT obtained from Lower Cretaceous strata shows three age peaks: P1(ca. 178 Ma), P2(ca. 149 Ma) and P3(ca. 105.6 Ma). Bedrock thermal history modeling indicates that Shalazha Mountain have experienced three stages of differential cooling: Late Triassic–Early Jurassic(~230–174 Ma), Late Jurassic–Earliest Cretaceous(~174–135 Ma) and later(~135 Ma). The first two cooling stages are well preserved by the detrital AFT thermochronological result(P1, P2) from the adjacent Lower Cretaceous strata, while P3(ca. 105.6 Ma) records coeval volcanic activity. Furthermore, our data uncover that hanging wall samples cooled faster between the Late Triassic and the Early Cretaceous than those from the footwall of Shalazha thrust fault, which synchronizes with the cooling of the Shalazha Mountain and implies significant two-stage thrust fault activation between ca. 230 and 135 Ma. These new low-temperature thermochronological results from the Shalazha Mountain region and nearby reveal three main phases of differential tectonothermal events representing the Mesozoic reactivation of the central segment of the southern CAOB. In our interpretations, the initial rapid uplift in the Late Triassic was possibly associated with intracontinental orogenesis of the CAOB. Subsequent Middle Jurassic–Earliest Cretaceous cooling is highly consistent with the Mesozoic intense intraplate compression that occurred in the southern CAOB, and is interpreted as a record of closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean. Then widespread Cretaceous denudation and burial in the adjacent fault basin could be linked with the oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate along the eastern Eurasian Plate, creating a northeast-trending normal fault and synchronous extension.
