1Rapeseed research and production in China显示文摘Rapeseed(Brassica napus L.) is the largest oilseed crop in China and accounts for about 20% of world production.For the last 10 years,the production,planting area,and yield of rapeseed have been stable,with improvement of seed quality and especially seed oil content.China is among the leading countries in rapeseed genomic research internationally,having jointly with other countries accomplished the whole genome sequencing of rapeseed and its two parental species,Brassica oleracea and Brassica rapa.Progress on functional genomics including the identification of QTL governing important agronomic traits such as yield,seed oil content,fertility regulation,disease and insect resistance,abiotic stress,nutrition use efficiency,and pod shattering resistance has been achieved.As a consequence,molecular markers have been developed and used in breeding programs.During 2005–2014,215 rapeseed varieties were registered nationally,including 210 winter-and 5 spring-type varieties.Mechanization across the whole process of rapeseed production was investigated and operating instructions for all relevant techniques were published.Modern techniques for rapeseed field management such as high-density planting,controlled-release fertilizer,and biocontrol of disease and pests combined with precision tools such as drones have been developed and are being adopted in China.With the application of advanced breeding and production technologies,in the near future,the oil yield and quality of rapeseed varieties will be greatly increased,and more varieties with desirable traits,especially early maturation,high yield,high resistance to biotic and abiotic stress,and suitability for mechanized harvesting will be developed.Application of modern technologies on the mechanized management of rapeseed will greatly increase grower profit.Qiong Hu Wei Hua Yan Yin Xuekun Zhang Lijiang Liu Jiaqin Shi Yongguo Zhao Lu Qin Chang Chen Hanzhong Wang 2017The Crop Journal2017,5,2:25

5Facile and environment friendly synthesis of hierarchical BiOCl flowery microspheres with remarkable photocatalytic properties显示文摘A facile and environment friendly approach to synthesis of unique hierarchical BiOCl flowery microspheres(FMs)using a biodegradable surfactant polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)was reported herein for the first time.Compared to the BiOCl nanosheets synthesized in the absence of PVA,hierarchical BiOCl FMs consist of large amounts of interwoven polycrystalline nanosheets that assemble into a porous flowery structure.The formation mechanism of the hierarchical BiOCl FMs was also proposed,whereby PVA was believed to play a key role in the crystal growth and the formation of the final microstructures.Compared with TiO2-P25 and BiOCl nanosheets,hierarchical BiOCl FMs displayed remarkably enhanced photocatalytic activity,and20 mg of BiOCl FMs could completely degrade 50 mL of methyl orange solution(20 mg/L)within 30 min under UVlight irradiation.According to the comprehensive analysis,it can be concluded that the larger specific surface area,porosity,suitable band gap,and the enhanced light absorption capacity may contribute to the remarkably enhanced photocatalytic activity.This facile and green approach to fabricating hierarchical BiOCl FMs would give vital clues to develop new route for synthesizing other hierarchical structured materials.Jiaqin Liu Jiajia Hu Lili Ruan Yucheng Wu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,8:4
6Electrochemical hydrogenation of mixed-phase TiO2 nanotube arrays enables remarkably enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting performance显示文摘We first report that photoelectrochemical(PEC)performance of electrochemically hydrogenated TiO_2 nanotube arrays(TNTAs)as high-efficiency photoanodes for solar water splitting could be well tuned by designing and adjusting the phase structure and composition of TNTAs.Among various TNTAs annealed at different temperature ranging from 300 to 700°C,well-crystallized single anatase(A)phase TNTAs-400 photoanode shows the best photoresponse properties and PEC performance due to the favorable crystallinity,grain size and tubular structures.After electrochemical hydrogenation(EH),anataserutile(A-R)mixed phase EH-TNTAs-600 photoanode exhibits the highest photoactivity and PEC performance for solar water splitting.Under simulated solar illumination,EH-TNTAs-600 achieves the best photoconversion efficiency of up to 1.52% and maximum H_2 generation rate of 40.4 mmol h^(-1)cm^(-2),outstripping other EH-TNTAs photoanodes.Systematic studies reveal that the signigicantly enhanced PEC performance for A-R mixed phaes EH-TNTAs-600 photoanode could be attributed to the synergy of A-R mixed phases and intentionally introduced Ti^(3+)(oxygen vacancies)which enhances the photoactivity over both UV and visible-light regions,and boosts both charge separation and transfer efficiencies.These findings provide new insight and guidelines for the construction of highly efficient TiO_2-based devices for the application of solar water splitting.Jiaqin Liu Mengjia Dai Jian Wu Ying Hu Qi Zhang Jiewu Cui Yan Wang Hark Hoe Tan Yucheng Wu 2018Science Bulletin2018,63,3:4
7Theoretical and simulation research of hydrodynamic instabilities in inertial-confinement fusion implosions显示文摘Inertial fusion energy(IFE)has been considered a promising,nearly inexhaustible source of sustainable carbon-free power for the world's energy future.It has long been recognized that the control of hydrodynamic instabilities is of critical importance for ignition and high-gain in the inertial-confinement fusion(ICF)hot-spot ignition scheme.In this mini-review,we summarize the progress of theoretical and simulation research of hydrodynamic instabilities in the ICF central hot-spot implosion in our group over the past decade.In order to obtain sufficient understanding of the growth of hydrodynamic instabilities in ICF,we first decompose the problem into different stages according to the implosion physics processes.The decomposed essential physics processes that are associated with ICF implosions,such as Rayleigh-Taylor instability(RTI),Richtmyer-Meshkov instability(RMI),Kelvin-Helmholtz instability(KHI),convergent geometry effects,as well as perturbation feed-through are reviewed.Analytical models in planar,cylindrical,and spherical geometries have been established to study different physical aspects,including density-gradient,interface-coupling,geometry,and convergent effects.The influence of ablation in the presence of preheating on the RTI has been extensively studied by numerical simulations.The KHI considering the ablation effect has been discussed in detail for the first time.A series of single-mode ablative RTI experiments has been performed on the Shenguang-Ⅱlaser facility.The theoretical and simulation research provides us the physical insights of linear and weakly nonlinear growths,and nonlinear evolutions of the hydrodynamic instabilities in ICF implosions,which has directly supported the research of ICF ignition target design.The ICF hot-spot ignition implosion design that uses several controlling features,based on our current understanding of hydrodynamic instabilities,to address shell implosion stability,has been briefly described,several of which are novel.LiFeng Wang WenHua Ye XianTu He JunFeng Wu ZhengFeng Fan Chuang Xue HongYu Guo WenYong Miao YongTeng Yuan JiaQin Dong Guo Jia Jing Zhang YingJun Li Jie Liu Min Wang YongKun Ding WeiYan Zhang 2017Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2017,60,5:4
8Binding Se into nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanosheets for high-performance potassium storage显示文摘Selenium cathode has been demonstrated as a promising candidate of cathode material for low-cost and high-energy density potassium ion batteries(PIBs).Nevertheless,their applica tions are prevented by poor electrochemical perfor-mance due to the shuttle effect of high-order polyselenides,the sluggish diffu-sion of bigger K+,and the huge volumetric expansion during cycling.In this work,we design a multifunctional Se host(N-HCNS)by grafting ZIF-8 derived microporous carbon onto the surface of N-doped porous carbon nanosheets.The obtained N-HCNS carbon matrix integrates conductivity,captivity,and immobility abilities,which inhibits the polyselenides shuttle,improves the Se utilization,and buffers the volume change during cycling.The 3D hollow car-bon skeleton enhances the infiltration of electrolytes.As an cathode for PIBs,the Se@N-HCNS electrode delivers an unprecedented life-span(260 mAh g1 at 1.0 Ag-1 after 2000 cycles)and exhibits a remarkable rate capacity(339 mAh g at 5.0 Ag-l).Density functional theory(DFT)calculation reveals the effective adsorption of K2Se with pyridine and pyrrole nitrogen dop-ing in carbon matrix.The unique synergetic design of electrode not only gives insight into the reaction mechanism but also highly emphasi zes the potential capabilities of N doped carbon in K-Se batteries.Huijuan Huang Xiao Luo Yu Yao Xuefeng Zhou Yu Jiang ChunliGuo Jiaqin Liu Xiaojun Wu Yan Yu 2021InfoMat2021,3,4:3
9Analysis of QTLs for erucic acid and oil content in seeds on A8 chromosome and the linkage drag between the alleles for the two traits in Brassica napus显示文摘The history of canola breeding began with the discovery of germplasm with low erucic acid content in seeds of spring forage cultivar in the 1950's.FAE1 mutations led to a dramatic decrease of the seed erucic acid content in Arabidopsis thaliana.The products of the two FAE1 loci,BnA8.FAE1 and BnC3.FAE1,showed additive effects to the level of erucic acid content in oilseed rape.Previous research believed that the pleiotropy of FAE1 was responsible for the decrease in seed oil content along with the reduction of seed erucic acid content in the modern cultivars.TN DH population was developed from a canola cultivar Tapidor and a Chinese traditional cultivar Ningyou7.The population had been tested in 10 and 11 environments to map QTLs for the erucic acid content and oil content in seeds.As the map resolution increased,a novel QTL for seed erucic acid content was revealed,after Meta-analysis,7 cM away from the most significant seed erucic acid content QTL where BnA8.FAE1 is located.Seven independent QTLs for seed oil content(qOC) were detected around the two seed erucic acid content QTLs(qEA) across 39.20 cM on linkage group A8.Two of the qOCs co-localized with the two qEAs,respectively,and were detected in a single environment.The other five qOCs were detected in 10 of 11 environments independent of qEAs.Alleles from Tapidor in all the QTLs at the 0-39.20 cM region contributed negative effects to either erucic acid content or oil content in seeds.Parallel,geno-typing showed that on 5 of the 7 QTLs regions,Tapidor alleles had the same genotypes with that in 'Liho',the original low seed erucic acid content source.Through rounds of crossbreeding with oil-cropped cultivars and intensive selection for multi generations,Tapidor still had the inferior alleles for low seed oil content from 'Liho',the forage rape.This showed a strong linkage drag of low seed oil content,which was controlled by the five qEA-independent qOCs,with low seed erucic acid content.Ninety cultivars of B.napus from 8 countries were used to analyze the genetic drag with 9 molecular markers located in the QTL confidence intervals(24.04 cM) on linkage group A8.It was noticed that more than 46% of the cultivars with low seed erucic acid content trait remained the genotype of low seed oil content at least in one locus.Backcross and marker-assisted selection could break the genetic drag between the low oil content and erucic acid in seeds in the process for breeding modern high seed oil content canola cultivars.Zhengying Cao Fang Tian Nian Wang Congcong Jiang Bing Lin Wei Xia Jiaqin Shi Yah Long Chunyu Zhang Jinling Meng 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,4:2
10Construction of WO_(3)/Ti-doped WO_(3)bi-layer nanopore arrays with superior electrochromic and capacitive performances显示文摘Crystalline WO_(3)/Ti-doped WO_(3)bi-layer nanopore arrays were constructed by the template synthesis of a WO_(3)nanopore layer modified by a magnetron sputtering of an amorphous Ti-doped/WO_(3)layer.The obtained bi-layer nanopore array shows a remarkable electrochromic performance with large dual-band optical modulation in both visible(VIS)and near infrared(NIR)regions(optical modulation of over 70%in the wavelength range from 600 to 1600 nm)and the fast response speed(coloring for 3.4 s and bleaching for 6.6 s).In addition,the bi-layer WO_(3)/Ti-doped WO_(3)nanopore array also present superior energy-storage properties(areal capacitance of 44.0 mF cm−2 and good rate capability),better than that of titanium-free thin films.The special bifunctional characteristics of electrochromism and pseudocapacitance can be ascribed to the large specific surface area provided by the architectural design,rich ion channels in the amorphous layer as well as proper titanium doping,which bestows the bi-layer nanopore array a great potential in clean energy applications.Yingdi Shi Shujing Liu Yong Zhang Mingjun Sun Kai Tang Jiewu Cui Xia Shu Yan Wang Jiaqin Liu Yucheng Wu 2019Tungsten2019,1,3:2
11Genome-wide identi?cation of loci affecting seed glucosinolate contents in Brassica napus L.显示文摘Glucosinolates are amino acid-derived secondary metabolites that act as chemical defense agents against pests.However,the presence of high levels of glucosinolates severely diminishes the nutritional value of seed meals made from rapeseed(Brassica napus L.).To identify the loci affecting seed glucosinolate cont ent(SGC),we con ducted genome-wide resequencing in a population of 307 diverse B.napus accessions from the three B.napus ecotype groups,namely,spring,winter,and semi-winter.These resequencing data were used for a genome-wide association study(GWAS)to identify the loci affecting SGC.In the three ecotype groups,four comm on and four ecotype-specific haplotype blocks(HBs)were significantly associated with SGC.To identify candidate genes controlling SGC,transcriptome analysis was carried out in 36 accessions showing extreme SGC values.Analyses of haplotypes,genomic variation,and candidate gene expression pointed to five and three candidate genes in the common and spring group-specific HBs,respectively.Our expression analyses dem on strated that additive effects of the three candidate genes in the spring group-specific HB play important roles in the SGC of B.napus.Dayong Wei Yixin Cui Jiaqin Mei Lunwen Qian Kun Lu Zhi-Min Wang Jiana Li Qinglin Tang Wei Qian 2019Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2019,61,5:2

13Heterotic patterns in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) using exotic germplasm for Chinese semi-winter hybrid breeding显示文摘Chinese semi-winter rapeseed,genetically differing from winter and spring rapeseed,has been considered to possess strong potential as parent in winter and spring rapeseed hybrid breeding programs. However,no detailed researches have been documented whether winter and spring rapeseed lines have potential for Chinese semiwinter rapeseed hybrid breeding. The objectives of this study are to estimate the potential of winter and spring rapeseed for semi-winter rapeseed hybrid breeding,and to investigate the association of general combining ability(GCA) with adaptation of parental lines by combining with the data in our previous studies. Four winter and four spring male sterile lines were crossed with 14 Chinese semi-winter rapeseed lines to develop 112 hybrids,which were evaluated together with their parents for seed yield under three environments in China. The exotic parental lines were not adapted to local environment as demonstrated by late flowering,low seed weight and poor seed yield per se. However,the hybrids,especially derived from winter rapeseed exhibited strong heterosis for seed yield,indicating that winter rapeseed germplasm has a great potential for rapeseed hybrid breeding in China. Our data suggested a strong association of GCA with their adaptation ability of parental lines,since high to middle correlations were found for local parental lines and low correlations for exotic parental lines under spring,winter and semi-winter eco-growth environments.
