1Cross-task emotion recognition using EEG measures: first step towards practical application显示文摘Electroencephalographic(EEG)-based emotion recognition has received increasing attention in the field of human-computer interaction(HCI)recently,there however remains a number of challenges in building a generalized emotion recognition model,one of which includes the difficulty of an EEG-based emotion classifier trained on a specific task to handle other tasks.Lit-tle attention has been paid to this issue.The current study is to determine the feasibility of coping with this challenge using feature selection.12 healthy volunteers were emotionally elicited when conducting picture induced and videoinduced tasks.Firstly,support vector machine(SVM)classifier was examined under within-task conditions(trained and tested on the same task)and cross-task conditions(trained on one task and tested on another task)for pictureinduced and videoinduced tasks.The within-task classification performed fairly well(classification accuracy:51.6%for picture task and 94.4%for video task).Cross-task classification,however,deteriorated to low levels(around 44%).Trained and tested with the most robust feature subset selected by SVM-recursive feature elimination(RFE),the performance of cross-task classifier was significantly improved to above 68%.These results suggest that cross-task emotion recognition is feasible with proper methods and bring EEG-based emotion recognition models closer to being able to discriminate emotion states for any tasks.LIU Shuang MENG Jiayuan ZHAO Xin YANG Jiajia HE Feng QI Hongzhi ZHOU Peng HU Yong MING Dong 2014Instrumentation2014,1,3:2

3Area,lake-level and volume variations of typical lakes on the Tibetan Plateau and their response to climate change,1972-2019显示文摘Most lakes have undergone significant changes on the Tibetan Plateau in recent decades,affecting water resources on the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas.In this paper,we investigated the variations of 25 lakes in five sub-regions on the Tibetan Plateau from 1972 to 2019 based on SRTM DEM data and Landsat imagery.We used a method to derive lake-levels based on DEM and lake boundaries delineated from Landsat imagery,and then calculated the changes in lake area,level,and volume in 1972 to 2019.We also analyzed the potential impacts of temperature,precipitation,glacial and permafrost melting in lake changes during this period.The results show that the lakes tended to shrink until 2010 in southern and western plateau,after which they began to expand gradually but the overall trend is still shrinking.Limited meltwater from glaciers and permafrost and low precipitation are the main reasons for their shrinkage.The lakes in the central plateau,northwest plateau and northeast plateau tend to expand overall.The reason for the expansion of the lakes is not only precipitation but also the melting of glaciers and permafrost.Overall,the lake changes have gone through 3 phases,namely a slight decrease during 1972-2000,a rapid increase during 2000-2010,and a slowdown in the last decade(2010-2019).Multiple factors such as temperature,precipitation,the state of glaciers and permafrost have contributed to the changes in the lake.Ju Zhang Qingwu Hu Yingkui Li Haidong Li Jiayuan Li 2021Geo-Spatial Information Science2021,24,3:2

9Characterization of time-and size-dependent particle emissions and decay from cooking oil fumes in residence:Impacts of various intervention measures显示文摘The dynamic characteristics of cooking-related particle size distributions in real-world settings are not fully understood.Through a real-world campaign in a naturally-ventilated apartment in the northwest US,this study investigates the temporal profiles of size-resolved particle number concentrations(PNCs)ranging from 0.3 to 10µm from frying cooking activities.The cooking scenarios included various combinations of window ventilation,venting range hood(VRH)use,and portable air cleaner(PAC)utilization.Following a standardized pan-frying protocol throughout seven scenarios,real-time PNCs of 16-size bins were measured in the kitchen.The PNCs were empirically compared among size bins,periods,and scenarios.The most abundant size ranges of cooking-related particles were 0.3–0.579µm in number(45%–71%of the total)and 2.685–5.182µm in mass(48%–57%of the total).Compared with the scenario without any cooking-fume mitigating measures,keeping the kitchen windows open reduced the mean PNCs during and within 1-h after cooking for PM_(0.3-2.5),PM_(2.5-10),and PM_(0.3-10)by 78%,92%,and 79%,respectively.By contrast,utilizing a VRH during cooking reduced the corresponding levels by 21%,69%,and 25%,respectively.Combined with running the VRH,using a PAC in the kitchen led to additional reductions of 84%,88%,and 84%,respectively.Additionally,the removal efficiencies of the three strategies generally increased with particle sizes.Jianbang Xiang Linmin Hu Jiayuan Hao Siqing Wu Jianping Cao Edmund Seto 2023Building Simulation2023,16,7:1
10Kalman Filter for Adaptive Antennas显示文摘Adaptive control algorithm ls a key technlque for an adaptive array. It ls necessary to find a fastand efficient aIgorithm ror gaining rapid interrerence suppression. Convergence speed of conventional gradient-based algoritkms ls extremely slow and very sensitive to elgenvalue spread of autocorrelation matrix. Thispaper presents the Kalman filtering method to adaptlve array processing. It has good transient response andachieves faster convergence speed,so it is msot su1table for complicated adaptive systems. We analyzed itsconvergence performance which proved to be related to initial value for P(0). Computer simulation by applying four elements array to null steering was carrled out. It ls shown that fast convergence needs only 2Mnumbers of iteration. The Iess the value was seIected for P(o),the slower convergence was found. Further,ifP(o) were too, small, the method would not be abIe to converge. On the other hand, bigger values of P(0)can not achieve more lmprovement in convergence per formance. Slmulation aIso discovered steady responsedenoted with SNIR dependent on the power of reference signai. 11Single-atom catalyst application in distributed renewable energy conversion and storage显示文摘In recent years,owing to the depletion of fossil energy and the aggravation of environmental pollution,the conversion and storage of distributed renewable energy(such as solar energy,wind energy,and tidal energy)based on electrochemical technology have attracted extensive attention.Electrocatalytic processes with high efficiency and high selectivity play a key role in clean energy conversion and storage.With the nearly 100%atomic utilization rate and unique catalytic activity,single-atom catalysts(SACs)have been rapidly developed and widely used in the field of energy conversion and storage.In this review,we first introduce the characteristics of SACs.Then,we focus on the application of SACs in energy conversion,including water electrolysis reaction,nitrogen reduction reaction,nitrate reduction reaction,oxygen reduction reaction,and carbon dioxide reduction reaction.In terms of energy storage,we focus on supercapacitors and Li–S batteries.Further,we enumerate some of the methods for the synthesis of SACs in high metal loading or large scale.Finally,the main challenges and opportunities for this emerging field in the future are discussed and prospected.Xiao Li Wenxiu Xu Yuhan Fang Riming Hu Jiayuan Yu Hong Liu Weijia Zhou 2023SusMat2023,3,2:0

13Expert consensus on difficulty assessment of endodontic therapy显示文摘Endodontic diseases are a kind of chronic infectious oral disease. Common endodontic treatment concepts are based on the removal of inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue and the replacement by gutta-percha. However, it is very essential for endodontic treatment to debride the root canal system and prevent the root canal system from bacterial reinfection after root canal therapy(RCT). Recent research, encompassing bacterial etiology and advanced imaging techniques, contributes to our understanding of the root canal system’s anatomy intricacies and the technique sensitivity of RCT. Success in RCT hinges on factors like patients, infection severity, root canal anatomy, and treatment techniques. Therefore, improving disease management is a key issue to combat endodontic diseases and cure periapical lesions. The clinical difficulty assessment system of RCT is established based on patient conditions, tooth conditions, root canal configuration, and root canal needing retreatment, and emphasizes pre-treatment risk assessment for optimal outcomes. The findings suggest that the presence of risk factors may correlate with the challenge of achieving the high standard required for RCT.
