| 1 | Inhibition of growth and metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer targeted by Traditional Chinese Medicine Tubeimu in orthotopic mice models显示文摘Objective: Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC) is highly invasive and metastatic, which is in urgent need of transformative therapeutics. Tubeimu(TBM), the rhizome of Bolbostemma paniculatum(Maxim.) Franquet, is one of the Chinese medicinal herbs used for breast diseases since the ancient times. The present study evaluated the efficacy, especially the anti-metastatic effects of the dichloromethane extract of Tubeimu(ETBM) on TNBC orthotopic mouse models and cell lines.Methods: We applied real-time imaging on florescent orthotopic TNBC mice model and tested cell migration and invasion abilities with MDA-MB-231 cell line. Digital gene expression sequencing was performed and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) analysis applied to explore the pathways influenced by ETBM.Moreover, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactions(q RT-PCR) and Western blot were delivered to confirm the gene expression changes.Results: ETBM exhibited noticeable control on tumor metastasis and growth of TNBC tumors with no obvious toxicity. In compliance with this, it also showed inhibition of cell migration and invasion in vitro. Its impact on the changed biological behavior in TNBC may be a result of decreased expression of integrin β1(ITGβ1), integrin β8(ITGβ8) and Rho GTPase activating protein 5(ARHGAP5), which disabled the focal adhesion pathway and caused change in cell morphology.Conclusions: This study reveals that ETBM has anti-metastatic effects on MDA-MB-231-GFP tumor and may lead to a new therapeutic agent for the integrative treatment of highly invasive TNBC. | Jingxiao Wang Xinjie Yang Haibo Han Limin Wang Weiqian Bao Shanshan Wang Robert M.Hoffman Meng Yang Hui Qi Chao An Kaiwen Hu | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,1: | 8 |

| 8 | Ecological damage of submerged macrophyte Myriophyllum spicatum by cell extracts from microcystin(MC)-and non-MC-producing cyanobacteria,Microcystis显示文摘To explore how decomposed Microcystis-dominant cyanobacterial blooms affect submerged macrophytes,the submerged plant Myriophyllum spicatum was exposed to cell extracts from microcystin(MC)-and non-MC-producing Microcystis strains in a laboratory experiment.Results showed that both Mcracystis cell extracts exerted obvious damages to plant biomass,photosynthesis,primary and secondary metabolism measures,and resistance of plant antioxidant systems,with MC-producing Microcystis having stronger effects due to the presence of MCs.Cyanotoxins other than MCs responsible for the negative effects from both strains needs further identification.The Shannon diversity and Chao1 indices of epiphytic and planktonic bacteria were decreased by the cell extracts from both Microcystis strains.However,epiphytic and planktonic bacterial communities responded differently to cell extracts at the genus level.The dominant genera of planktonic bacteria including Enterobacter,Pseudomonas,and Novosphingobium from phylum Proteobacteria,Chryseobacterium from phylum Bacteroidetes,and Microbacterium from Actinobacteriota in the treatments with cell extracts were previously reported to have strains with algicidal and MC-degrading capabilities.B acterial genes associated with energy production and conversion,amino acid transport and metabolism,and inorganic ion transport and metabolism,were more abundant in both treatments than the control for planktonic bacteria,but less abundant for epiphytic bacteria.We speculate that planktonic bacterial communities have the potential to use and degrade substances derived from Microcystis cell extracts,which may be beneficial for M.spicatum to alleviate damages from Microcystis.Further research is needed to verify the structure and function dynamics of epiphytic and planktonic bacteria in the interaction between cyanobacteria and submerged macrophytes. | Yunni GAO Hui YANG Xiaofei GAO Mei LI Man ZHANG Jing DONG Jingxiao ZHANG Longfei LI Xuejun LI Michele A BURFORD | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,5: | 2 |

| 10 | Identification and characterization of novel fusion genes in prostate cancer by targeted RNA capture and next-generation sequencing显示文摘Gene fusions play critical roles in the development and progression of prostate cancer,and have been used as molecular biomarkers for diagnosis of the malignant disease.To further explore the novel fusions in prostate cancer,we performed targeted RNA capture and next-generation sequencing in a cohort of 52 prostate cancer patients,identified and validated 14 fusion events (7 types of fusion genes)in 12 cases,including three novel fusion genes.We characterized a chromosome rearrangement-induced trigenic KLK2-DGKB-ETV1 fusion,which may function as a noncoding RNA to upregulate the expression of the wild-type ETV1 protein in the tumor tissue. | 16 | Metallic and highly conducting two-dimensional atomic arrays of sulfur enabled by molybdenum disulfide nanotemplate显示文摘Element sulfur in nature is an insulating solid.While it has been tested that one-dimensional sulfur chain is metallic and conducting,the investigation on two-dimensional sulfur remains elusive.We report that molybdenum disulfide layers are able to serve as the nanotemplate to facilitate the formation of two-dimensional sulfur.Density functional theory calculations suggest that confined inbetween layers of molybdenum disulfide,sulfur atoms are able to form two-dimensional triangular arrays that are highly metallic.As a result,these arrays contribute to the high conductivity and metallic phase of the hybrid structures of molybdenum disulfide layers and two-dimensional sulfur arrays.The experimentally measured conductivity of such hybrid structures reaches up to 223 S/m.Multiple experimental results,including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),transition electron microscope(TEM),selected area electron diffraction(SAED),agree with the computational insights.Due to the excellent conductivity,the current density is linearly proportional to the scan rate until 30,000 mV s^(−1) without the attendance of conductive additives.Using such hybrid structures as electrode,the two-electrode supercapacitor cells yield a power density of 10^(6) Wh kg^(−1) and energy density ~47.5 Wh kg^(−1) in ionic liquid electrolytes.Our findings offer new insights into using two-dimensional materials and their Van der Waals heterostructures as nanotemplates to pattern foreign atoms for unprecedented material properties. | Shuze Zhu Xiumei Geng Yang Han Mourad Benamara Liao Chen Jingxiao Li Ismail Bilgin Hongli Zhu | 2017 | npj Computational Materials2017,,1: | 1 |
